"A brilliant little inn! Arrived later than the posted check in time, but let the innkeepers know. They accommodated us very well and understood we would be travelling a long way. Arrived around 2130 and they had unfortunately suffered a power cut, to no fault of their own. We were greeted very politely and was shown to our room via torchlight. The owners couldn’t have been more apologetic about the power failure but nevertheless the room was spotless, neat and tidy. We came down to the bar for drinks and had some lovely draught cider. The bar was full of friendly people and during our drinks the power was restored. Our sleep was very peaceful and comfortable with complimentary tea and coffee with fresh milk. Fresh orange juice was also available. The shower/toilet was very modern with a lovely warm shower and shampoo included. Our towels were very clean and soft, which matched the supplied house coats found in the cupboard. Breakfast was served at 8am. With cereals, fruit, yogurt and berries on the bar. Our waitress came over and took our hot breakfast order. Available was bacon, sausage, egg, hogs pudding, mushroom, beans, toast etc. Breakfast was very nice and served in good time. Checkout was easy and would have loved to have stayed a second night but I was away on business. I will definitely stay again as it is great value for money. Thank you!"

Five of us had dinner there on a Monday evening. There was a cosy fire. Locals enjoying a drink in the bar. It felt well used. Our food was well prepared and tasted good. Friendly staff. Reasonable wine list. Local draught beer. Typical pub fare, quite meat-based (3 types of steak) , veggie option could benefit from more pizzazz (I think it was mushroom risotto)

Lovely, clean and comfortable room with tea, coffee and biscuits supplied. Beautiful views over the village of George Nympton and Devon countryside. Owners and staff very friendly and helpful. Dinner last night and breakfast this morning were beautifully prepared and very tasty. Not to mention the nice drop of ale! Highly recommended and as further credit to the owners, well loved and used by the locals. Thank you for a very pleasant stay.

We booked in with our dog through Booking.com not knowing that the smaller double room was really unsuitable for a dog, so Debbie and Ian very kindly gave us a free upgrade to the bigger double room. Lovely clean, spacious, airy room. Super comfy bed and such soft sheets. Lovely roomy bathroom with powerful shower. Quiet and pretty location. Private and safe parking. My husband is a coeliac and Debbie couldn't have been more careful with his diet. Superb breakfast. 100% recommend.

We had lunch here last week.Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, the cottage pie was amazing, best I have ever eaten. They were happy for my friend to order from the children's menu as he had had recent surgery and couldn't manage a full size meal. The food portions were very generous too. The staff helped us move to another table closer to a radiator when my friend felt cold. I think the food is excellent value for money, I would have been happy to pay more. A very pleasurable afternoon in a classic country pub with wonderful food....perfect!

What an amazingly friendly and beautiful village pub. We were lucky to visit just before the 2nd lockdown. The food is exceptional, whether eating inside the pub or having a takeaway and I have to say they serve the best chips that I have ever tasted! Even with the quality of the food and the beautiful venue with roaring fires, the best part about this pub is the staff and the owners. They really went out of their way to make us feel welcome, valued and looked after us during our stay. We are already planning another trip to the village for next year and I can't wait to go back to the Castle Inn, it was one of the highlights of our break and definitely not one to be missed.

Super nice pub B+B, and a super Breakfast! That sausage was outstanding and the bacon was definitely not from your local supermarket, we also had an evening meal and they waited for us to get back as we were a little bit late and the steak was out of this world, the only down side is that I wished they had some leaflets dotted around to see some of the local attractions just incase anyone was staying for longer, the view from the seating area was really nice and you could definitely loose yourself just looking out of the window or reading a book there, the room was super clean and well stocked with tea and coffee and a little bottle of milk in the fridge, a totally outstanding place! :
