North Norfolk is famed for its stunning coastline, charming villages, and seafood, particularly Cromer crabs, often enjoyed in local eateries or on the scenic beaches.

"Last week my daughter and son in-law came home to Cromer for a quick visit for the night and they fancied an Indian takeaway meal. We tried to order one from our favourite Indian restaurant in Sheringham but it was closed for the night. So instead we went to Cromer Tandoori for a takeaway. The meal cost £50 and to say we were dissapointed was an understatement. Most of the dishes were mediocre at best, the containers were not full, especially the rice. The issue we had was with the Chicken Korma and the Chicken Tikka Korma. I poured the Chicken Tikka onto the plate and it ended up spilling onto the kitchen surface. Korma is normally a lovely thick and creamy sauce but this was orange coloured water, the same happened with the chicken tikka koma. I tasted it and it tasted of nothing, I really mean no taste, if you count tap water as a taste then you may be happy with these dishes. I called the restaurant and explained what we thought of the meal and was told we will take care of you I offered my name but they said there was no need as I just need to tell them again what I 'd just explained to them on my next visit. I wasn 't happy at all with this, there was no apology and it seemed that this was quite normal for them. I had an issue many years ago with a meal I had from there and their idea of taking care of us was half price off one dish when we decided to give them another try. I believe £3.50 off a ruined meal that cost me £50 is unaceceptable. My issue was more with the way they dealt with my complaint. My daughter then called too see if she could get any sense from them. They said there were only twi members of staff working, it was very busy and they were having problems in the kitchen. She was told the same about taking care of us but would not take our name or any details. I didn 't expect a full refund but I felt a refund of the two dishes that were unedible would have been the least they could have offered. I hope the owners read this and understand they can 't treat customers this way. I think they rely on the fact that most people won 't ask for the offer of being taken care of and just won 't return and rely on holiday makers to make their money. Please contact me and make an effort to put things right, locals deserve better!"

"We had hired a boat on the Broads for a few days and having passed it earlier in the day, we had decided to moor up at The Ferry Inn for the night and have a meal. The mooring fee is £20 for the night but if you are having a meal, this is then discounted off the price of your food so is essentially free. The staff were friendly and helpful and quick to point out the discount paying for the mooring gave to the food. They have a good selection of drinks to suit every palette. I went for the dark fruit cider (I can't remember if it was blackberry or blackcurrant) and her indoors went for rhubarb and ginger gin and tonic. I went for the mixed grill and my other half went for the Lasagne. We didn't have long to wait for the food to arrive. They were decent sized portions, well presented and extremely tasty. Rather than simply tell you how we would happily go again, we were so impressed that we actually went back the following night. One final plus is the friendly local wildlife. First you have the sound of the Bitterns booming away, then you have the friendly Swan that joins you for breakfast. The icing on the cake is the heron that struts up and down outside the pub and even enjoys hopping onto the odd boat or two for selfies."

"A tasty breakfast but appalling service have been using shapes for many years for convenience and am well aware the staff are never of a cheery manner but even worse than normal today! I appreciate that food service is different at the moment and the measures Aldiss have put in place would be brilliant if they used them! The QR code is clearly displayed at the till which I scanned for the track and trace just to be barked at saying ‘ Don’t bother it. Does not work we still need your details!’ Bizarre! I then ordered our2 breakfasts, Tea Cake and drinks dirty cutlery and 2 napkins then arrived at our table I asked if it would be possible for a third napkin as 3 of us were eating this was delivered with a grunt alongside some clean cutlery. Food arrived quickly and was tasty unfortunately whilst we were eating our food we experienced shone shocking customer service with the till operator being very rude to those customers trying to order barking words at them, No Please or a thank you, No Pardons just ‘What’. Other staff were witnessing this as were all gathered chatting behind the till at no social distance..... a shame as food is very good but customer service is shocking."
"This Thai restaurant located in the heart of Sheringham is excellent! We ordered takeout from here twice and were very happy with the food both times. The dishes were freshly prepared and cooked beautifully, with just the right amount of heat and spices, and the vegetables retained their crunchiness. When we went to pick up our orders, the staff were polite, friendly, and super efficient. The restaurant itself looked cozy and comfortable, and was busy while we waited for our food. The prices are very reasonable and the wait time for takeout orders was very quick."

"Honestly amazed at how good this is. Best Chinese I've had, and it's come from Mundesley. Greet value, very good food. Would recommend the set meal for 2 (the more expensive option). We added a serving of noodles to our order. Didn't need. Superb. Pop to Lidl for a bottle of Pinot Gris and you have the perfect dinner. Service: Take out Meal type: Dinner"

"Wiveton Hall has a fantastic location with views over the salt marshes and on to the sea. An ideal place to stop for breakfast or a refreshing daytime drink as I’ve done over the years and have been a return visitor many many times. But sadly no more! In the past the food and service has been some of the best around but my experience this time left me feeling disappointed, no longer the friendly table service we used to have, but we now have those annoying table buzzers to alert you when your food is ready, which are more suitable to a noisy nightclub then an idyllic country setting. But the breakfast I received this morning was worse than I ever had from a roadside café, fried egg, which quite honestly should’ve gone straight in the bin as it was more like a frisbee than a fried egg, sausage which tasted very economy and bacon which I’m sure was locally sourced, but was poor. Sour dough toast, which you could break your teeth on, cans of drink which were expensive rather than the home made original drinks we all preferred. Missed opportunity to continue to be one of the jewels in the crown of North Norfolk."

"We ordered a selection from the menu, including a fish platter and mozzarella sticks, but were disappointed when the dishes arrived. The food did not seem to be locally sourced or homemade, but rather appeared to be processed, frozen items that were simply deep fried. We found most of the dishes to be inedible and overpriced, with the exception of the salad. After finishing our drinks, we paid and left, feeling let down by the experience. While we always try to support local businesses, we were expecting better quality food based on the restaurant's description. We are unsure if we just made poor menu choices, if it was an off night for the restaurant, or if this is the usual standard. The website also seemed to be incomplete in some areas, such as the menu section. Despite reading some positive reviews, our own experience did not live up to our expectations. We hope that this was just an isolated incident and wish the restaurant the best of luck in the future."
"Booked via the website for Sunday lunch as they stated that Sunday Roast was available. On arrival, we were told that they weren't serving Roast for 2 weeks. When I pointed out that it was on the website I was told the pub had no control over it and it wasn't their fault. We went somewhere else for a Roast. Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2"
"We stopped by for coffee in the late morning and ended up making a reservation for lunch after noticing that the restaurant was dog-friendly and the menu looked appealing. After a stroll along the seafront, we returned for lunch and were promptly seated in the conservatory, a cool spot for our two small dogs. The servings were generous and my husband thoroughly enjoyed his sweet potato chilli curry. I opted for the gammon steak with fat chips, two fried eggs, and Boston baked beans, which was also delicious. The Boston baked beans were the best I've ever tasted! The portions were huge, and although I couldn't finish mine, my husband had no problem polishing it off. The dishes were nicely presented and the service was excellent. We highly recommend this restaurant."

"I ordered a take away when staying at a chalet park nearby and it was Luke warm when it arrived and not full portions. Usually the containers are full when I order a curry but these weren’t at all. Not sure if they assumed it...wouldn’t matter as only here on a short break in a chalet. Ordered a chicken tikka dhansak and you could request how hot you wanted it and leave a note so I asked for my usual choice of vindaloo hot with veg rice and a tarka dhaal. The dhansak was definitely not hot and had very little flavour with a thin sauce. I think it’s the most flavourless curry I’ve ever had. The tarka dhall was also very watery and lacked any flavour and was only half full! Rice was like warm and also not a full portion. The poppadoms were nice though which was the only positive! I sent a message on messenger to ask if they had received my order correctly but no answer so I didn’t bother to call as won’t be ordering again as on holiday here."

"As a last minute campervan trip, we were looking for a basic campsite with somewhere for dinner for the night. Lovely simple campsite with facilities which were clean and pleasant. Colin the owner was very accommodating and food was gorgeous! The locals in the pub were friendly, and we felt right at home. The evening was full of laughs, and considering we had never been here before, everyone was so lovely we stayed the following day and enjoyed a sunday roast aswell. Food was plentiful and was delicious. The campsite was small and well kept with everything you could need. Only being 15mins from cromer seaside, it was the perfect stopping point. We actually stopped again for lunch the following week on the way to the coast, and the pub staff were again really friendly. Looking forward to the restrictions lifting further for a karaoke evening, or a themed night, as it's a perfect little pub to enjoy an evening at. We would most definitely stay again, and if your anywhere near, would recomend popping in for something to eat as the food and people are excellent."

"The restaurant is situated in a stunning location, but unfortunately, the food and cleanliness standards were unsatisfactory. In the current Covid-19 times, cleanliness is crucial, yet the chipped tea pots were harboring germs. The milk jug was dirty with milk scum and black bits in it. When I asked for it to be changed, the young man brought out the same dirty jug again. After insisting, I finally received a clean jug of milk. The food was average at best, with an abundance of red onion in the salad but lacking in other greens. Overall, besides the beautiful location, there is nothing special about this restaurant. The lack of cleanliness raises concerns about the overall hygiene standards. I would recommend avoiding this place."

"As soon as I saw the line outside the restaurant, I had a feeling it was going to be special. Despite being in the midst of covid restrictions, there were people patiently waiting at a safe distance. After nearly an hour, I finally made it to the front of the queue and entered the heavenly aroma. I decided to order a simple dish of cod and chips with homemade tartare sauce. The fish was perfectly cooked, with crispy batter and tender, flaky flesh. The chips were golden and fluffy, and the homemade tartare sauce added the perfect finishing touch. I usually can't finish a whole portion, but I savored every bite in the charming atmosphere of a summer evening in East Runton. It was definitely worth the wait!"

"I took my children here for lunch and we had a wonderful time! The owners kindly made half portions for the children, which helped because the portions are generous. I think the burger with seitan facon may have been the best vegan burger I've had! After we'd gone to the beach (which is only a short walk away), we returned and tried a few cakes. They were all very good vegan buttercream can be hard to do well, but Cafe Carmel did it. The people running the cafe were friendly and helpful and the food was good. We will definitely be back."

"We had an evening meal at Sands. The restaurant was cold, with only 3 other tables occupied on a Saturday evening. We ordered the ‘special’ King prawns with chorizo, garlic butter and crusty bread. The prawns were not fresh prawns, they were the mass frozen prawns you can buy from cash and carries from Thailand. They had no flavour. The chorizo was the tiny diced chorizo that you can often get from supermarkets, again not very good quality. The bread was packet bread, not even fresh bread from a bakers. The portion was very small, for £8.50 I’d expect good quality food or a decent portion, this was neither. The waiter did not deal with the complaint very well, telling us that no one had ever complained about the dish before he obviously hasn’t looked on here before! We ordered various mains, all were ok. The wine menu was very poor, only about 6 7 choices of red wine, when we ordered a bottle we were told it was not available. Overall we the restaurant lacked atmosphere, the food was below average and the service was not very good. We have visited several pubs in Wells that all served much better quality food, with far better atmosphere and service."

"Last evening of our holiday, so decided to go for a nice meal, hadn’t been before. So were we disappointed you can bet your life we weren’t, from the moment we walked in with my wife in a wheelchair a dog in tow nothing was too much trouble. We had reserved a table and everything was ready. From ordering to receiving our meal was about 20 minutes and the food was excellent which was backed up by 4 empty plates, portions were spot on , couldn’t face a sweet, to full. Would we go again yes definitely we shall be on holiday here again next year, Don’t change a thing you have a great formula going here."

"Have now had the worst and most expensive meal since we left Australia in May 2023. This was at Nelson’s in Wells-Next-the-Sea in the Norfolk Coastal National Park. Supposedly a steak and kidney pie. It was drowned in gravy, soggy chips, pastry was like compressed bread crumbs, steak and kidney was missing, and salad was possible days old. Avoid this place, walk another 100 metres towards the sea for a fabulous little bakery."
