"I only write reviews when placed really excel and exceed expectations. We are local but hadn't ventured to Hythe for a curry in a long time, we had tended to go ashford way . I'm so glad we chose the vinodhon . The service was exceptional from all the staff , we had a good chat with Bala who was very informative and happy to tell us about the dishes on the menu , helping us to make excellent choices . The clean plates spoke volumes...I have to say it was the best Indian meal we have ever had. The flavours were just amazing , so huge compliments to the very talented chef . We will definitely be back soon , we were so impressed. We had a very enjoyable evening. Nice to see a restaurant so busy on a Friday night amd still walk ins up to 10pm. Thank you vinodhon ,see you again soon . thanks for the advice on naan bread making Bala ,we will report back !"

"Our final night in Folkstone and after having a really overpriced two course lunch at a rip off restaurant elsewhere we were on a bit of a budget, the prices looked reasonable, so we booked a table. I had read reviews beforehand and noticed complaints about poor service and rudeness by staff, we certainly found this not to be the case, the place had a very good atmosphere, it was very busy for a Thursday night but the manager found time to come and chat to us, there was a large party there for a birthday and nearly everyone in the place sang happy birthday to the person celebrating his special day, this got us talking to people on the neighbouring tables, which was great. The food was outstanding for the prices charged and for both courses we were spoilt for choice, the seafood and the pasta that we had were very tasty and beautifully cooked, we had a bottle of pinot grigio and that was of good quality too. Recommended without a doubt."

"Phoned to make reservation for 9 adults and 3 children at very short notice and was told no problem will have your table ready for you. Arrived staff really welcoming and friendly. The food was excellent , my husband said it was the best curry he has ever had. My granddaughter who is 3 wanted bacon the lady who was looking after us said no problem how many slices (you don’t get that in most restaurants). We did mention about Sunday lunch but wasn’t sure if we would be back in time and was meet with it will be busy but I will fit you in. Sadly we weren’t back in time. Something to try the next time we are in the area. Would highly recommend"

"I visited with my friend on a Sunday night when most places are closed. she visited from Finland and had never had banana blossom fish, so we ordered two portions plus the jackfruit wings as an appetizer. the jackfruit wings were the best and the bb fish and chips were huge. the BB fish tasted not enough for my taste buds, but it was really nice. the texture is similar to fishing (of what I can remember)"

"Having often dined at Earls in the past we booked what we expected was the Sunday carvery for a party of 12 to celebrate a birthday. We were met by only 1 member of staff who was serving meals, serving drinks to diners, manning the bar and clearing the tables. Apparently other staff had not turned up due to a family emergency. Obviously service was extremely slow but give Nina credit she soldiered on in the face of adversity and did a magnificent job, all with a smile on her face whilst being extremely polite. It must have been very difficult for her as other diners got up and left due to the long wait and another group complained constantly and refused to pay the service charge. We waited an hour for drinks and debated whether or not to leave as it was apparent that our meal would be at least another hour. We skipped the starter as we were all hungry by this time. We were told the main was a ‘plated carvery’ not the buffet we expected. When it arrived the food was not very hot and the portions were not very generous. Not one of the 12 diners received Yorkshire puddings! I’m not a big eater but even I still felt hungry. The deserts although limited in choice were very good. The owner arrived to assist with serving the main course but that was all the help he offered the waitress and certainly no apology or explanation to the diners for the very poor service due to inadequate staffing levels. Having seen the owners appearing on Channel 4’s Four in a Bed and their claims of offering excellent facilities and service I can say that we were all distinctly unimpressed with the service and food. The cost of dining here for 9 adults and 3 children was £321 without a service charge! For serving lukewarm food that we waited for 2 hours for I felt they should pay us for the negative dining experience. I would also remove their board outside stating they offer the best carvery in Folkestone. Would we dine here again most definitely not. Possibly if the hotel and restaurant were in new hands and which could be a possibility in the not too distant future for I fail to see how they can stay in business with such poor levels of service and quality of food."

"this is our second time to visit this coffee outlet, time had americanos sat outside human smoking was an inconvenience but we sat there anyway.Populations there today again this is weeks later, again in order two americanos with milk. the side, they were every thing good but was said that we had to pay pence for the milk on the side...this is a new one for me! Every place I was, I've never been charged extra for milk with an American. Dairy intolerance also cant have cappuccino or latte so like to add little milk to my coffee! also that made it absolutely up for two coffee! so will not go back. plus coworkers behind the theke were not very understand and were just yes, that is they want milk they have to pay extra! never had to costa charge you for milk."

"Wanted to watch the women's football semi final. Phoned Callum the manager, four days earlier, asking if they had a screen and if the sound would be on. He said yes to both. We turned up on the day, it was only a small tv screen, we were a little disappointed. There were 2 opposite each other in the main saloon. The football was on, I asked the barman if he could turn on the sound to listen to the match. He said he's not allowed to. I explained my conversation with the manager (who wasnt in) and that it had been authorised . He did not like that and straight away was stroppy. He did turn it up but barely audible. I went back 10 mins later and asked him to turn it up. Again stroppy reaction, but turned it up so little that we were straining to hear. Heard another couple moaning about the sound, I said for them to complain as I have asked them twice already. Will not be going there again, the food was good, the beer great but the staff sucked. Stroppy and unhelpful."

"We are staying at a nearby caravan holiday park and visited New Romney for an evening meal. From the outside the building of this business looked very impressive and so with. I prior knowledge of the establishment we decided to try it. I’m the night we visited there was a Ska singer performing which is an unusual accompaniment to a curry, but it really helped make for an enjoyable evening, as me and my wife sang along and remembered songs from our teenage years. He was incredibly talented, and was a very welcome addition. Onto the food ………….. I have eaten curries in every major city in Britain, and I’ve lived within a mile of Brick Lane in the East End of London, so I’d like to think I can appreciate a good one! This is hands down the best curry I have ever eaten. The flavours were phenomenal. This view was echoed by my wife and my elder son ……….. my younger daughter sadly would only go for chicken and chips!!! I had a chicken madras, and I was genuinely upset when I finished it, I was enjoying it that much. The staff were fantastic and were very attentive, and the price was very reasonable. All in all a place well worth a visit. I, for sure will return when I am next in the area. Thank you for a delightful evening with fantastic food."

"My son uses this place regularly, he highly reccomended trying it. So we decideded to give it a go. We had fish chips from The Corner Plaice last night, i had haddock my husband daughter had cod. I must say this was the most delicious fish chips i've had for years. Everything was freshly cooked, the batter on the fish was light crisp, the fish cooked perfectly. The price was excellent value. I would say this is the best fish chip takeaway in Folkestone. I highly reccomend this place, give it a try."

"Our 3rd visit, and not our last! As ever, it was busy but there again, it was Easter Monday. The shack is on the main road through Dungeness, just past Prospect Cottage and on the way to the power station. Plenty of parking on the road and with a small car park just ahead. The fish is fresh that day, served with delicious fried potatoes. It is excellent, and quite the eating experience to sit there in such an unusual environment. Plenty of walks along the shore or down to the miniature railway station. Finish off with an ice cream and don’t forget there is plenty of fresh fish also available to take home."

"Saw the sign for pub on the beach road. Went for dinner with family. No one behind the bar. Waited still no one. Only 4 people eating. Looked around the back for service. Stuck my head in the kitchen door to ask if serving dinner. Gentleman shouted at me to get out of the kitchen. I asked if we can sit for dinner, he said no only if booked a table. I said you have a sign stating you serve food. His reply was I have no staff. Two small kids to deal with to find another restaurant for dinner. Very disappointed."

"This was our Christmas day treat that became a Christmas nightmare for all concerned. I preordered our meals in November so was hoping for a smooth, happy meal for us and our friends. One hour for the starters to arrive which were hugely disappointing. Another long wait for the main course in a restaurant full of hungry, angry and disappointed people. When the main arrived we were shocked by the poor standard, it was cold and one main never did arrive! The man in charge berated his staff in front of us and belittled them, this was not the fault of the staff who were trying hard. The kitchen was clearly under staffed and badly managed. The cook was made to come out to speak to us and we could see that she had been worked to death with very little help or management. We left before dessert and decided to cut our losses. After some difficult negotiations we did get a substantial discount but this was due to us refusing to pay for cold food."

"I visited Anna's for the first time today with my daughter. We had the cream tea which was the best I've ever had. It was so nice to be able to choose the sandwiches and cake you want. We even treated ourselves to a couple of glasses of bubbly each!! The atmosphere was very welcoming and calm. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Great food, great staff, great location, what more can I say. I would highly recommend a visit. Tip: best to book in advance, it's a busy place."

"Nice clean and spacious restaurant. The waiter tailored the food to my liking which was welcomed. It wasn't busy on a Tuesday, so service was quick. My food arrived in good time and looked spectacular! I ate all the main and rice too, it was good but not anything special. I understand they're busy on the delivery side, but I found eating food in the restaurant nothing to make a big impression. It was also a little disappointing there wasn't a hot towel or mini chocolate after the meal. I would certainly eat here again, but it wouldn't be my first choice for Indian food in Folkestone."

"Just WOW, what a find! Our friends took us, they go regularly and we understand why. The food was out of this world. it's a New Mexican, NOT a Mexican restaurant that is run by a husband and wife team who cook everything from scratch. "We came for a weekend away and wanted to come back to The Ship where we visited 18 months ago and had such a great meal and stayed for hours, unfortunately we were hugely disappointed this time. The staff were knowledgeable on my allergies and were great but the size portion of the platter we ordered was enough for one person not two and we were glad we ordered chips too. The platter was considerably more in price and considerably less in portion size it was a huge disappointment. We know times have changed and prices have gone up but that is extortion for the amount of food we received. Last time we stayed until closing and spent hundreds on food and drink, this time we spent £65 and went back to our B B the other side of town. The atmosphere was terrible. The drinks were also a huge disappointment. Last time we came there was a mini cocktail list which was great this time it's like it's been turned into a Gin Bar Not everyone likes Gin, the cider was off the menu as no one knew how to change the barrel! When I asked for a Old fashioned they had no clue. The last time we came Lockdown had ended and the place was buzzing this time on a Friday night it had about 10 families in including the locals and this says a thousand words. You are in holiday location you need to bring in more holiday goers again. There are many more I could comment on but I think this is enough for now. We won't be returning Food drinks: Disappointing quality and quantity for the price Service: 4 Location: 4"

"This delightful restaurant was once excellent, but it seems to have changed ownership. We arrived at 1.30pm and waited for service in the bar/restaurant, but no one came. My husband had to search for someone to take our order. After finally being served drinks and handed menus, we waited even longer for our orders to be taken. It took 50 minutes for our food to arrive. My lasagne was disappointing with plain lumps of mince and no seasoning or bechamel sauce, topped with overcooked and stringy cheese. The garlic bread was also lacking in garlic flavor. My husband's steak pie looked fine, but the meat was bland and unseasoned. We decided to leave the food and quickly pay, but had trouble finding someone to take our payment. We went to the main bar but still couldn't locate anyone. After some time, a frustrated cook appeared and we were able to pay and leave. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and we will not be returning."
