"Café Mozaic co proprietor Esther B. kindly answered our questions on Moroccan and Lebanese food on this Talk thread [hidden link] I visited Café Mozaic for lunch today to find Esther 's Moroccan husband Abdeljalil (AJ) holding the fort along with four other friendly staff. They were serving a lot of takeaways, but I chose to eat in they have about twenty covers with plenty of free seating when I visited, and a warm, Mediterranean vibe about the place. Hot vegetarian options were falafel, a spicy potato dish, and three rice dishes plain, saffron or cashew vermicelli rice. All sixteen mezze in the display fridge are vegetarian. I decided on a wrap, which AJ warmed then spread with hummus and chilli sauce before asking me to make my mezze choices. I was really greedy falafel, spicy potato, beetroot, green bean w/walnut, spicy green bean, feta, mint yoghurt dressing and so on. AJ 's technique was to crumble and spread everything evenly along the wrap, which was folded and returned to the heat press, before being served with sides of tabbouleh, spicy carrot and a delicious dressing. Although their khobz flatbread is from a packet rather than made on the premises, I found it really wholesome and will be seeking out a packet of these wraps myself from Worldwide Foods in Rusholme. As you can imagine, the wrap was a complete riot of fresh flavours with all those fillings, and great value too at just £4.50 to sit in. I would be interested to see what other Moroccan inspired hot vegetarian dishes Café Mozaic could come up with maybe a vegetable tagine using chickpeas for the protein. In any event, I 'm delighted to have discovered this ethnic treat to pop into when I 'm in Ashton, which I found to be quite an upbeat locale. Look out for my forthcoming Ashton under Lyne a vegetarian explores list!"

"I visited the pub on Sunday with my family (4 adults, 1 child and a big dog) and had a lovely time. We came for the Sunday platter for two, which thy adults ordered and my little brother ordered the belly pork. The food was very tasty, plenty of it and we even had leftovers. The chicken was maybe a little dry and the plate overall was a bit cool so had maybe been sat on the pass waiting for final elements to be added but the delicious gravy with meat flakes in was lovely and hot and heated everything up nicely. James our server was so friendly and helpful, ensuring we had plenty of drinks and extra gravy but was never intrusive. The dog was given water, a biscuit and lots of attention too and we all felt very welcome. All in all a very pleasant meal in a lovely building with great staff and if the weather allows, some nice gardens to walk off your lunch in. Would definitely come back."

"Came here for my grans birthday a few weeks ago, admittedly, I was unimpressed by the interior. However, that was straight out mind the second that our server, Emily, attended to us. There could not have been a greater example of “service with a smile”. She had no problem giving recommendations based on our own personal preferences, and catered to our every need. Will definitely be dining here."

"The staff there are usually so friendly and the food is lovely with lots of choice and lots of choice of vegetarian food which is good for me and mum. Even my usual meat eating boyfriend had a veggie burger and I tried some and we both loved it. It was a little dry but only because they never put butter or sauce on. Anyway my gripe for yesterday's visit is that my food had gone cold. I tried flagging down a waiter, I waved and he looked up but he ignored me to carry on cleaning and then just walked off. After that no staff appeared at all and I was left with cold food I couldn't finish. Eventually a different waiter came over to ask if everything was all good and I asked for my food heating up but he offered me a box in order to take it home and heat up and eat later. I ended up eating my boyfriends chips instead and desert to fill up"

"Having passed many times and wanted to give it a shot we chose last Saturday evening after a busy day and before going to collect my nephew. We ordered and waited, the place was busy and had an okay atmosphere. Lots of staff passing out meals. Family 's eating etc. Our food was dumped unceremoniously under our noses after about 20-30 minutes. I actually jumped as mine was dumped as the server had approached from behind. She left without a beat, no words uttered or even a look. Now, I didn 't, and still don 't know if we were supposed to get our own cutlery and condiments but after maybe two minutes of utter shock which turned to confusion that 's what my wife did. We cut into our fish, chips mushy peas and it was immediately evident this wafer thin fish shouldn 't have ever encountered a fryer . It was like battered leather. Mine significantly worse than my wife 's. To the point that when I went to investigate further the entire fillet came appart in two decemated sections the meat being that thin that there was nothing left holding it together. The batter was pleasant, the mushy peas which we were charged an extra 75p to upgrade from standard peas were a literal table spoon. We ordered extra chips-£1.99 which was fortunate as the portion again was on the small side. Additionally some bread and butter which was another 75p per slice. So all in all our upgrades were quite expensive for what they were. Which had the bread not been stale, and the mushy peas not been measly we wouldn 't have minded. However that meant the only good thing that was on the plate was some chips. We weren 't happy at all! My wife went to express our issues to one of the staff. Who came over about 3-4 minutes later to see. We explained about the fish and she left again no advise to continue eating or not, she just said she 'd be back. As I earlier mentioned we were between commitments so we continued with our meals. Mine mostly with the extra chips, bread and peas which had been paid for Additionally as earlier mentioned and my wife much more slowly (she 'd just had dental work it was another 5 minutes or so and our original server now came clutching £7 saying she had no idea but had been told to give us this. We 're confused again. This is all really odd now. It 's just confusion ontop of lala land. Even the other customers are spending their evening watching our table at this point. Very unpleasant! We 're left again 5 minutes and out of nowhere comes the girl we initially explained our issue to and food dump woman. The first has both arms outstretched waiting and saying she has to take our meals now where in the council house bully 's house am I eating here?! Literally I was brought up in council houses, my wife ironically with parents who ran pubs. In our combined 70 years on this planet I have never been treated, seen anyone treated like this. I can 't say the same for my wife. For her this caused a total trauma responce. She had some very bad stuff happen at the hands of her secondary caregiver. So still unrelated to the service industry. These two women literally stood over us. Demanding our remaining food as a refund had been issued. The first was mostly the one not holding back. Pointing at my plate which was mostly eaten at this point as I 'm sure you 'll be able to tell, from our first complaint to the time these walking asbo 's stormed over it 'd been like fifteen minutes. So she predominantly wanted my wife 's mainly because she was an easier target not talking back as much and due to the recent dental work had more on her plate. Their voices were raised they were stood over us and pointing a lot! This was literally nightmarish. Who does this. Everybody else is turned in their seat, one lady so close she 's almost a third occupant at our table. The women leave after this and even though I 'd stuck to my guns about them not taking our food that if you recall we payed Additionally and separately ontop for everything BUT the fish leather. I couldn 't finish. I fealt sick and was shaking. We went to leave but I just thought no. This is mad I want my money back! I started explaining to another lady pulling a pint and she literally said something along the lines of don 't start on me ill get the manager about two sentences in. I was obviously annoyed but definitely not taking it out on her so this also baffled me. Eventually this person comes and is questioning us like we did something wrong or we were trying to get a free meal! I mean, yeah obviously at this point after everything and leaving our food after the only ever Saturday night fish chips with a side of abuse and public humiliation. Yeah we want our money back!! She claimed when given a refund and at this point I look over at my 36year old wife skin dull of hives and eyes watering knowing the priority is getting her out of this disgusting place. The woman 's just going round and round in similar circles of varying comparability of what she can can 't do and saying what we 're saying didn 't happen anyway to short of jumping the bar and throttling someone which of course happened only in my head we leave with the promise of a phone call the next day. Which!! Shock horror never arrived. So in summary if you 're looking for Droylsdens answer to Karen 's diner where the foods inedible, the prices are high and the staff are always ready. Get yourself down to The Hadon Hall on a busy Saturday night. Complain about anything. I dare you! One last thing, if the owner wants to send some pleasant amicable sounding platitude. Don 't! If you have one ounce of decency or customer service skills contact me. Because I 'll be copying and pasting this onto anything I can physically think of to warn anyone of your nasty workers and inedible food."

"We stumbled upon this restaurant by chance while in the area and needed a quick meal. A quick search on our mobile led us to this gem, and we were pleasantly surprised by how busy it was for a midweek early evening. The starters were excellent and our satisfaction only continued with our main course. The staff team took great care of us and we left the restaurant feeling extremely satisfied and well-fed."

"Went for Mother’s Day for the set menu. On arrival was informed that there was no mushrooms available as a starter- no issue we ordered Korean chicken strips and the risotto. The chicken strips had about a teaspoon of sauce on, we had to ask for extra sauce to make them not dry! The main courses were just average at best. One of our party ordered the fish and chips and the fish was burnt, barely any fish inside the batter. The staff kindly exchanged this for us. Then we ordered desserts, the desserts took nearly 40 minutes to come after the mains were finished and the order got messed up and some of our party didn’t get what we ordered. For the price we were being charged the food wasn’t up to scratch at all. The kitchen needs a massive improvement. We won’t be returning. The serving staff were lovely and couldn’t be more attentive. The manager came over and listened to our concerns."

"I had been to this restaurant before and was not impressed, but decided to give it another try tonight. Unfortunately, I was thoroughly disappointed. The chips that came with my meal were cold, although they were quickly replaced. However, the fish had a strange chemical taste that was off-putting. My husband ordered the steak and ale pie, which had too much pastry and not enough steak filling. The mashed potatoes were also unappetizing. We informed the waitress of our dissatisfaction, but received no feedback. It seems like they don't care about customer satisfaction as they have plenty of passing trade. We will not be returning to this restaurant."

"I had a cheese and onion pie for lunch, which was decent but the ingredients seemed low quality. The restaurant was clean and my food arrived within 15 minutes. The staff were friendly but appeared overwhelmed and could not provide top-notch service. In general, it's an affordable and pleasant spot to get a bite to eat. They have a wide variety of options on the menu, as well as indoor seating and restrooms."

"What’s not to love about this shop? Food is bang on everytime. Let’s face it they’re the most polite set of guys you’re going to get answering the phone on a Saturday night! No matter who you are and what customers are in the shop to collect food, you will be safe and welcomed at all times. Busy place, flying out the orders, yet they have always got ours right and it’s always hot on arrival. Bonus points for those feast kebabs Keep up the good work Faz and the guys at Spice of Life Mossley"

"This place is something else -next level taste and exceptional quality. Delicious curries, wraps , sides, rices and sauces -the whole menu knocks spots off your favourite curry house . Nat knows his ingredients and flavours and offers the most delicious handmade dishes . Nat’s Bombay kitchen is without doubt a hidden gem nestled in the brilliant Ashton Market . Make it a priority to get over there and buy from the great variety of traders, bagging yourself the best Indian homemade meal you’ll ever taste . We will always go back."

"We went as a family to celebrate my husbands birthday just before lock down was imposed. I ordered the mushrooms in garlic sauce which were awful. The sauce tasted of raw flour. We had to ask for my husbands starter as it wasn't brought out. After everyone had finished the stater the waitress came for the second time to check the order for our mains. They hadn't even started cooking them. I ordered the fish and chips as the belly pork I really fancied was off the menu. The chips were huge wedges, not chips and were not properly cooked. The fish was very greasy. The dessert menu left a lot to be desired only having a selection of stodgy typical English puddings. We have eaten here before over gge course of four or five years and the food has, always been gourmet standard. I don't know if there has been a change in ownership in recent times but I won't be going back unless the food improves drastically. And no I didn't complain at the time as my in-laws were paying and I didn't want to spoil their treat or embarrass them. To sum up, I could have done much better at home and the senior waitress who kept double-checking the order that our waitress had taken didn't inspire much confidence. They really need to up their game."

"Had a wonderful lunch at Oaklands Hall. Entertainment was provided by the lovely Natalie Cuifo (aka Ain’t Misbehavin’ The meal was scrumptious and a cut above. Where else can you get Monkfish and Thai crab cakes, on a February Sunday in Hyde? The meal was finished off with a super delicious lemon cheesecake, cheese and biscuits and coffee. We were well looked after with table service from the staff who I cannot praise too highly and led by Liv, front of house . I don t know how they do it for the money . The venue is highly appointed and we were treated like Royalty. I asked for a table near the talented Natalie and we were given a “killer position” right at the front . We were presented with a rose too which together with the complimentary chocolates was a nice touch for Valentines. Ain t misbehavin’ performed three sets and had chosen what seemed like the sound track to our life. Her pitch perfect singing voice is a given these days but with her mesmerising dance moves Natalie tells a story. She is of part Italian heritage and she uses the shaping of her hands in her performance to enhance the lyrics drawing you into the storyline. Her natural beauty is enhanced by some very impressive dresses . As it was a Valentine’s event the theme was love but she mixed it up with some high energy interpretations of some classic favourites enchanting her audience who were in raptures by the third set. We ve seen Natalie three times now and each show has been an individual performance. She surprised us today with an enchanting Scottish ballad. We spent 3 hours over an excellent lunch and enjoyed ourselves immensely. We are so proud of Natalie and feel so lucky we can see her in our own neighbourhood. She has a growing following so if you get the chance to see and hear this young talent go for it. Her act will stay with you long time . Thank you Oaklands Hall for booking her for your excellent venue."

"We knew it would be busy at Lymefield garden centre as they were serving Christmas lunch. Two drop ins were just being turned away at the entrance with very long faces because they forgot to book. (Rookie mistake) our table was waiting for us and we were greeted by the smiling face of Gemma who served us. Now I believe good service is second only to the food in the enjoyment of a meal. Every detail was perfect and I know about these things. At times it seemed a long wait to place our order, ask for something or enquire about the menu but I only had to look up and she was there. It’s not like the staff were nt busy as there was a table of 23 they were looking after. Little touches like being asked what kind of glass we wanted with our drinks is something of a bygone age. You d have to dine at the Ritz to get better service. At one point she was busy with the long table and I thought uh! She’s took her eye off the ball but Yvonne her team mate turned up as if to read my mind with my bowl of steaming rice pudding with winter fruits. Perfect for the coldest day of the year so far. Team work makes the dream work at Lymefield. It was a dream there yesterday. It’s in the most glorious setting . Surrounded by frosted fields the view was like the Christmas cards I d written that morning. My final word must go to the shop. The produce is farm fresh and I am particularly satisfied with the local Alma Bridge honey I purchased . It’s the finest I ve tasted. The clientele are mostly of retirement age as you d expect in the middle of the working week. I don t consider myself old but I am old school and Lymefield is the perfect way to get the seasonal celebrations started."

"I use this chippy all the time. I live literally round the corner from the golden phoenix. I am disabled the first time I used their delivery I felt embarrassed to be ordering from round the corner, the minute I told them I was disabled she said its no problem. I could literally go out of my back gate to the chippy at the back of me. I just can't tell you how nice the food is from golden phoenix. It is just delicious. I have ordered lots of different food it is always delicious. The delivery is fab too. Love the lady and young boy that deliver. Food is always hot. If they are busy she always says how long I will have to wait for my food. Two Chinese chippy's on my door step. I will always always choose the golden phoenix over good luck chippy."

"I have been going to this place since it first opened. It is centrally placed and with a relaxed atmosphere. It apparently now has new owners who are doing away with serving the tea and coffee in proper cups and are now using paper ones as a way of doing further environmental harm as well as asserting their right to deteriorate the quality of the customer experience. I won’t be returning again. Why is it so difficult for these cafe owners to understand the basics of customer requirements?"

"Awful from start to finish. Food was horrible was in there over 2.5 hours service was slow. Would not recommend Sunday lunch now they have changed it from a carvery. Starters tiny desserts poor choice and Sunday lunch inedible. Had to wait on several occasions for them to put enough starters out and desserts. We were a party of 9 and 4 meals came out 20 mins later than everyone else’s. Food items missing from most people’s meals. Waitress was very apologetic and so was the manager and we didn’t pay for the meal. Was for my husbands birthday which was ruined. Very disappointed and won’t be returning unfortunately and we have been numerous times in the past and loved it!"

"Lovely clean modern pub, with a great friendly atmosphere. I have been on numerous occasions with just my husband for a lovely meal or with family and friends for birthdays and celebratory meal. The food may be classed as traditional homemade pub grub. But it is more like restaurant standard. There as often been 20 of us including children and the professional, friendly staff always go out of their way to accommodate our needs. You know how awkward kids can be, saying I don’t want beans, pea’s etc. There is a good choice on the menu homemade e.g Fish and Chips, hand made pies, chicken, burgers, Lasagna, curry etc. Plus a healthy choice menu for those who are counting the calories. Great kids menu. Lovely Desserts. Always freshly cooked and delicious. Great value for money. I would advise to book in advance as always gets booked up quickly, especially for there Sunday Roast as it gets very busy. It is proper fresh meat’s and veggies. The quiz night on a Thursday is a fabulous night. Great atmosphere and free chip butty. They televise all live sports in the tap room and have a pool table. There is a car park at the rear which is a bonus."
