"Riva is the best restaurant in Hale. This was my second visit and I was just as impressed as the first time, if not more! Last night (Thursday evening) we enjoyed amazing food and live music from a talented singer. Our group started with a snack board and then ordered beef Wellington, steak pie, fish and chips, and fillet steak - all of which were rated 10/10 by everyone. The service from the owner, a lovely gentleman, was outstanding. If you're looking for high-quality, unique food in Hale, Riva is the place to go!"

"I didn't get a chance to try the food, but the atmosphere was nice and the staff were friendly. It was a great spot to stop at after a walk along the canal. I would rate the service and atmosphere both a 5 out of 5."

"*updated review* Enjoyed a little breakfast with my son on his birthday recently. Still very quaint and pretty in aesthetics and decor. Bathroom is spotless. Service is good, attentive but not in your face. Breakfast was lovely. Eggs benedict was cooked perfectly. I've added some new photos also. Tea has improved also. A real lovely brew. I especially love the teapot and cup collaboration. Updated my review to 5 star. Very cute, quaint little cafe, glad we made the effort to go here for breakfast this week. The lady that served us was lovely, smiley and friendly and attentive. Food was great quality, especially the bacon, not sure it was real butter on toast which was little bit disappointing. Dropped a star from my review as cutlery was not spotless and needed a wipe over with napkin before using. And the tea was not the greatest quality, even after brewing it lacked depth, colour and taste, and was not the best. However I would certainly return and amend my review if i found these aspects to have improved."

"We have been visiting this take away for over 25 years (when it was originally called Milupa) and the quality has never changed. We order the same every time and the guy who usually takes the order (still don't know his name after all these years but he knows ours) has the order down to a T. It has never been a bad curry (occasional time rice or naan bread has been missed off but can forgive them for that). Absolutely lovely."

"The restaurant received top ratings for its friendly, warm, and caring service. The food was beautifully presented with delicious flavors. It was a great find and the reviewer would definitely come again. The restaurant was very busy, so it's important to make a reservation. The reviewer expressed their gratitude to Luigine for a wonderful experience."

"We used to love this restaurant in Altrincham, but unfortunately it appears to have closed down unexpectedly. We are unsure of the reasons behind this sudden closure, as we had visited just a week prior with no indication of any issues. We are hopeful that this closure is just temporary and that the owners and staff are doing alright. Rating: Food 5, Service 5, Atmosphere 5."

"I don't mind paying extra, in fact I would prefer to more for food to ensure the quality is there which I why I was excited to try this place. Upon ordering, very slow service .... the buttermilk chicken burger came and it was cold. Worst than the temperature was the fact it was thigh meat which was grey/pink and tough. I think if you are charging £10 for a chicken burger on its own then you have to use breast and if you are not, then clearly state that. Also if you are serving thigh I would ensure it was hot so it does highlight the cheap meat. Fair play to Mustard as they did take this off the bill as I couldn't eat it but I was just left hungry and disappointed then. Presentation and seasoning is good but service, quality and pre-serving checks need to be improved. From reading all other reviews, I think I could of just ordered the wrong thing and they let some cold food slip out."

"Beautiful location with a view of Old Trafford, the menu looks good at first glance. The service is very poor considering how under staffed the cafà is I guess that can be expected. The food we had was pretty awful, maybe we just had poor luck. Chicken Wings Starter- Completely raw chicken under breadcrumb coating Burgers ordered- This was average but we had no appetite after the raw starter this may have clouded our palettes on the main course Drinks- Cocktails are creative and tasty so are the milkshakes"

"the menu is clearly marked with what is vegetarian, what gives me the trust in the food that I will probably be served. sometimes lunch with carnivores that, while enjoying the meaty options, are equally likely to enjoy the no-compromise veggie options....The waiting staff are really nice, and usually very efficient. the fresh orange is raised. we have enjoyed lunch outside today and this is my only light nigger that the service can be delayed a tad when they sit outside everything else is Spot-on. no hesitation to recommend this food."

"I visited san giovanni for birthday dinner with two friends and my baby. I was appalled by the way I was treated after I had asked how long our main courses would be (after an hour have waited) when I suggested to the waiter that we had to wait one, he replied, "No, you didn't ', I was completely withdrawn. then he continued in an extremely defensive (and aggressive) wise. I can say categorically that this spoils the rest of the meal. I've never seen anything like that in a restaurant. about eating, my friends enjoyed their carbonnara, but my pizza was loaded with fat cheese. does not want to visit again and would not read more. more"

"I recently had an amazing dining experience! We started off with a bottle of Carte Noire Picpoul de Pinet to set the mood. For appetizers, we enjoyed the flavorful Chermoula grilled mackerel fillet with gunpowder potatoes, spring onions, coriander, and chilies. The King prawn ceviche was also a delicious choice, with tomato, lime, cucumber, coriander, guacamole, and crispy fried tortillas. For our main courses, we loved the Orecchiette pasta with cavolo nero, ricotta, lemon, almonds, and parmesan. The Cod dish was equally impressive, with smashed eggplant, tomato basil, peas, za'atar yogurt, and fresh coriander. Lastly, we treated ourselves to dessert. The Chocolate pot with brandy-soaked prunes, raspberries, and a shortbread biscuit was delightful. The English strawberries with raspberry sorbet, smashed meringue, Chantilly cream, and a touch of prosecco was a perfect ending. Overall, it was a memorable culinary experience with a wonderful mix of flavors and textures. Highly recommended!"

"I'm a big Thai food fan and found this hidden gem place via TripAdvisor so thought we'd give it a try! It was for our 3 years anniversary and me and my husband had a great evening there! We went on a Sunday and what a pleasant surprise!! They have a All Day Sunday Family Meal Deal which comes with a starter, 1 main and dessert at a very reasonable price! Portion size for my starter was bigger than expected and tasted lovely. There was a wide variety of choices of food and even for desserts! My husband had a lovely surprise from the deep fried ice cream and he absolutely loved it! Staff were so friendly and attentive! Can't thank you enough for a great meal! Will definitely come back again, despite having to travel all the way from Bolton!"
"There have been noticeable changes at the restaurant over the past year. The once friendly welcome has disappeared and it now feels more transactional. During my last two visits, I opted for takeaway and was disappointed to find that two of the £10+ meal containers were only two thirds full. I mentioned this to the staff, but they did not seem to see it as an issue. I have been a customer for years and while it is not cheap, I did not mind splurging on a treat every now and then. I think I will take a break from dining here until I hear that the quality has improved. As for parking, there are limited options available."

"My husband rang to book early bird only to be told that the only time available is 4.30pm as Vida was fully booked. Not a problem, so came at 4.30pm only to find out that the restaurant is empty, there are only 4 other tables occupied and that's it! Probably, they were fully booked or did not want to serve more as there was only one lady, in black/white top, quite big build there trying to serve those 4 tables.By the time our drinks and next table were taken, it took at least 20 min, as both of us took 2 for £10 offer on cocktails. The couple at one table finished starters and was waiting a while for the plates to be cleared and second course served as well as we were waiting for our food order to be taken as the lady who was serving very slowly was having a good bye conversation with another table who have finished and were going.May be it would have been good for her to let them know that since she was the only one, she needs to attend to the customers but she was not in a rush chatting, while we were there waiting for her to finish.Since the sale of Vida it just lost it's va va voom, great service and ambience, food is still good and of great quality but service has gone down hill for sure. The early bird in next door Borrello and Linguiny are always amazing and great, while on the several occasions we have been, it has been quiet, not welcoming and somewhat cold service. At the end, on the bill we were also charged 2 for £12 for cocktails, not 2 for £10 as advertised, but I said to the lady it might as well be classed as tips, as luckly 2 more younger, much more faster and proactive girls have arrived for about 5pm.Sorry Vida, I think I will give you a miss for a few months and stick to my favourite Linguiny or Borrello, but if and when I come back, I would like to see some improvement"

"Went for lunch with partner. Had the chicken and my partner had the goats cheese and both were superb. Not cheap but you get excellent service, good food, hot decent coffee and great ambiance. A few people also working from the restaurant so a great all rounder. Highly recommend. Vegetarian options: All clearly marked. Wheelchair accessibility: Wide access and good space to move around Service: Dine in"

"Just got back from a terrible evening meal at The Gardeners. Live music that was not just awful but far too loud. Although my friend thought the Scampi meal was OK , I had the fish and chips which was dried up (peas as well as the fish). The vinegar bottle on the table was empty and had to request to borrow another from the next table. But, the main complaint was the entertainment that was embarrassingly poor and so loud that it was impossible to have a conversation while they were playing. After less than an hour, I was glad to get out and go home. Sorry but certainly the experience will mean that I won 't be returning"

"I started with the vegan chili 'squid', made with lightly battered king oyster mushrooms in a sticky chili coriander sauce. It perfectly captured the texture of squid, which I've missed since going vegan almost three years ago. My partner had the sticky vegan 'ribs', which were made from mushroom soy protein with a sweet and spicy sauce. The texture and flavor were spot on, and not overpowering at all. For the main course, I had the vegan donburi, featuring shiitake mushrooms in a spicy sauce with edamame beans, kimchi, and a vegan egg made from coconut. Everything worked together perfectly, with each element complementing the others. Even the vegan egg was surprisingly good, although a bit soft due to being made from coconut. My partner opted for the teriyaki vegan 'chicken' udon, which had a rich soy protein flavor and a chewy texture, similar to pork. He enjoyed every bite, although there were a lot of noodles in the dish. For dessert, I had the bananenkatsu, which was banana coated in crispy breadcrumbs with caramel ice cream and toffee sauce. It was absolutely divine and a must-try. My partner had the chocolate orange cake with miso caramel ice cream, which he reluctantly shared a bite of but quickly regretted, as he wanted more. We washed it all down with an invigorating ginger 'no-jito' and plenty of water. The service was excellent, with friendly staff who provided great insights into the dishes and recommendations. I even inquired about cooking classes, which they unfortunately didn't offer, but I was directed to check out Wagamama Steve on YouTube. Overall, a fantastic dining experience that I will definitely be repeating."

"Visited on a Thursday early evening and the atmosphere was poor with very few customers. The bar staff were friendly and took our order quickly. We waited 40 minutes for our order (for2 people) to arrive when only one other table were eating. The food was very average and over cooked. We had the sliders which were incredibly small, so felt like they were just a starter size even though we had 3 each. Not a big menu. Won’t be rushing back. Apparently the only night they’re busy is Saturday."

"This small taverna is fantastic. The food was incredible. As someone who is gluten free, I was impressed with how knowledgeable and accommodating both servers were. We ordered the mixed meze and not only was the food delicious, but there was a generous amount of it. I might have to go up a jean size after this meal! I will definitely come back to this place."

"Conveniently situated, this restaurant is a great pick for tapas. We were fortunate to secure a table as outdoor seating was not ideal due to the cold weather. It's worth noting that reservations are not accepted at this establishment. The tapas dishes we tried were all delicious. The service was quick and efficient, and the seating was comfortable enough. The selection of wines and beers was quite impressive. Overall, we enjoyed our experience, though I did find the prices to be a bit high considering the portion sizes."
