"Not a good experience….. Two screaming children sat at table by the counter. Obviously belonging to the owners not a great first impression) Gluten free option comprised of three cakes. I fist chose a cake that was later told could not be served to me I think it was past its best) I was then offered an almond slice, a few moments later another member of staff told me that I could not have that as it was not gluten free I then chose a scone this had never been a scone) it had been put in a microwave and was so hot I burnt my tongue, by the time I tried to eat the second half it was virtually rock hard due to being microwaved All this took over 20 mins by which time my coffee was cold -to add insult to injury I had been presented with a biscuit which was definitely not GF. despite my telling them three times that I was celiac This disappointing experience cost me £7.65 Needless to say I will not be back"

"Reading a recent review giving Paul’s Plaice a one star rating, I wanted to say we have been going here for 9 years and in that time the food and the service have been excellent. Problems with a fryer going down cannot be helped. We place our order online and pay for it before collecting it which is why when there is such a problem the customer takes priority I presume. People are so quick to complain these days and don’t look at the full picture. Anyone reading this review before visiting this chip shop, then trust me you will not be disappointed. We would drive along way to buy fish and chips from Paul’s Plaice, and if there was a problem we certainly would not judge and rush to give them a one star rating. I would give a 10 star if I could !!"

"Dinner for 2. Return visit as I had been previously during the Eat out promotion with a friend and food had been excellent. Food was still very good although we thought the mixed vegetable platter starter was a bit greasy. Staff were very good and we had a nice evening. We would still recommend as there are some nice choices of the menu that differ from our usual Indian."

"I booked as a birthday treat for my husband. It was our first visit and I couldn't be more pleased. Great food, wine and service. We had a window seat which was great for us too as we love to people watch. Will be visiting again very soon. Was well worth the journey as we are not local."

"today we shared a few light starters for lunch. chicken liver pâté and potted rabbit. I can honestly say that the pâté was the best we ever tasted. we expected that the canyon is a bit dry as it is its habit. but there was a pleasant butteriness about it, which made it delicious on dry toast. if they like us have this as a light lunch, they might want to order an additional round toast. thanks. peter and personal for a nice lunch. of the little scary person and his lovely woman. x"

"My parents and family friend went for lunch at Thomas Lord Pub to celebrate my 50th birthday. I cannot praise the staff enough for helping make it the most perfect afternoon for us. The lovely waitress Roxy, and her lovely colleagues, a guy and a lady that usually works the breakfast shift, (I didn't get their names), were just so friendly and helpful. Nothing was a problem and they really made us feel special. I'd been out for lunch at a pub on the outskirts of Winchester recently and was so disappointed by the extremely rude waitress there that I just could't believe how friendly, helpful staff really make a difference to the whole experience of eating out. The food was incredible, I had the fish and chips and it was out of this world, the batter was so light and crispy and the fish was so fresh. I would not hesitate to book lunch here again and would recommend The Thomas Lord pub to anyone!"

"I went to Dim T with my mum and I can say that I was blown away with how delicious the food was and the inclusive atmosphere and service. Food got to us quickly, was hot, and service was with a smile. The restaurant is gorgeously decorated. We had the five spice squid and pork buns the squid was so soft and tender, the crunchy batter was delicious and was perfect with the tasty sweet Chili dip. Good portion too. The pork buns were delicious, great texture and perfect amount of sweetness. For mains I had chicken katsu curry and my mum had the chicken pad Thai. The pad Thai was delicious and authentic! The Katsu curry was nice, chicken was made well, but I liked the pad Thai better. It had more flavour and oomph. Still nice though. The best part of the meal was the ginger and caramel sponge pudding. Seriously one of the best desserts I have ever had. It was rich, moist and caramel heaven. The ginger was just the right amount. I was going to share one dessert with my mum but after we both tried a bite of the pudding, we both thought it best I order my own! The ice cream was also great quality along side the sponge. With the amazing lunch time menu deal, we’ll be hurrying back for sure! Thanks Dim T for a lovely lunch and the nice waiting staff."

"the three of us came and were greeted by very cheerful co-workers who showed us on our table. Drinks and nibbles arrived and we put our commands with very pleasant and helpful sever, and our food came and return diners were not disappointed by. eating that was as usual first class, my daughter is vegetarian and was very satisfied with the variety and choice of vegetarian meals. the only side of the visit was the excessive noise of nearby diners, which prevented our party from conducting a simple decent talk and finally abandoning our meal as soon as we could and leave. it was a shame to overthrow a really first-class meal, but it made us a bit understandable to return for future meal. many thanks for a really good meal."

"my wife has booked for both of us lunch to celebrate my birthday in a restaurant where I wanted to go for a while. it fulfilled all my expectations. the service was always attentive. we had a good table and on the way to him were taken our dumbbells and at the same time we were asked if we wanted to water on the table. we were given time or studying the menu and asked if we need any drinks. these came within minutes and we were asked if we were willing to order. we ordered from the a la carte menu and young was eating well. the starters were a good size and tasty, a lot of choice for the net and I must say the Indonesian fish curry was for to die. large selection on the wine menu and not silly prices, as we all know that some restaurants put a considerable brand on their weeping. a total of an excellent experience all around well made the personal for my birthday dinners very unforgettable."

"My wife and I shared a pizza and sharing platter and it was enough for the both of us. I would say prices are a little on the higher side, BUT, the food is delicious and the services was great. We sat in a window seat downstairs and felt that corner lacked a bit of atmosphere as the restaurant speakers are in the other side of the room. All in all, a delightful place!"

"if we could give this pub 5 stars plus, then we would! found this pub on Google search while visiting my family. we have all decided to give it after the readings, and we were not disappointed. the food was absolutely delicious, each cure perfectly cooked, very tasteful and well presented, absolute top compliments to the cook. the service was very good, our food arrived in a timely manner and was served with a smile, it was a great experience and we would highly recommend............we will definitely come back when in winchester. great experience."

I have been here about five times, as my daughter Sawra and her partner Andy live in Winchester and often come to visit. They recommended Tom's Deli to me. "Disappointed Sunday lunch. Beef Ok vegetables raw and cold. The server left before we could ask for any sauces. We went to the bar to ask for the sauces and to order wine as no one had come to see if we needed more drinks. We were told someone would come to the table but the lady said it may be awhile as they were busy! Our meals were already at the table so providing the sauces should have been a priority as we should of been asked if we wanted any sauces when we were served our meals. I managed to catch a waitress to order the wine which arrived halfway through our main meal. During the meal we were asked if everything was OK and we told them about the vegetables. The reply was that I will tell the kitchen. A young lad cleared our plates and asked if everything was OK to which we replied about the cold and undercooked vegetable but it wasn’t his problem but thanked him for asking. At which point the other waitress that we spoke to earlier butted in and said she had informed the kitchen and we were the only table that had complained that day! Had she listened to the whole conversation she would of realised we were just replying to what the lad had asked. It would of been a lie if we had said everything was OK. From a marketing point of view you should be asking whether we would come back and it makes good sense to investigate why the kitchen sent out cold uncooked food. We did not receive an apology or explanation while we were there. We paid the bill in full and left very disappointed. We have had Sunday lunch here a couple of months ago with no complaints. We have been visiting this lovely pub for over 50 years it’s just a shame that the food and attitude of some of the staff did not live up to expectations."

"Visited the Dog and Crook last night with my family. There were 7 of us and we ranged in age from 14 to 44. The pub was rustic looking which I personally love, upon arrival we were shown to our table and orders were taken for our drinks . The menu wasn’t huge but enough therefor even the fussiest of eaters plus we were given a sheet for specials . The starters were soon out , I had mushroom soup which was really tasty and creamy, maybe could have had a couple more bits of bread! For my main I had Lamb and Rosemary pie, new potatoes and veg with gravy. The pie was completely full of lamb, probably the fullest pie Iv ever had, the potatoes were lovely and soft and the vegetables perfectly cooked . Lastly our pudding I had warm cherry bake well tart with rhubarb and ginger ice cream!!!!! My choice as was different to what I have had before.We did not feel rushed at all with nice gaps between courses so we could all chat to one another. The atmosphere in the dining room was nice and not loud.All in all a fantastic night with family, great food and all at a good price . We will most definitely be back in the future."

"We stopped here for a relaxing lunch treat but it turned in a slightly stressful affair. On entrance the ladies working were much more interested in watching the tennis. We took a table outside which was a little scruffy but nice. The Menus were dirty and tatty and we were not given the lunchtime menu. When the food arrived there had been a miss communication and only three meals delivered. There was no cheese on the childrens pasta and no sauces offered. The kitchen made up the misses sandwich fast. The sandwich was fresh and tasty and the chips lovely and crunch. In all the service was rubbish but the food was nice. Bathroom was rather dirty too."
