"There were many options available and the owner was patient in letting me take my time to decide on what to order. Ordered sweet and sour chicken rice £6) from the special offer set menu. It was v filling and even had some bits of egg in the rice! Quite an authentic version of the dish and it reminded me of home Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £1–10 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Sweet Sour Chicken with Egg Fried Rice"

"We came for a birthday brunch. I believe its a family run cafe with an authentic French/Italian vibe. I felt very relaxed here. The staff are super friendly and the food was lovely, I went for a simple breakfast sandwich which hit the spot. (bonus points to them for getting my well done egg just right . I'd love to come back and I'd highly recommend if you're in the area."

"The dining experience was subpar unfriendly service, unimpressive food portions for the price, and slow service. We won't return. We've ordered takeout here before, and it was ok. However, when we visited for the buffet with our kids, two waitresses were exceptionally impolite and made us feel most unwelcome. The buffet servings were minimal, eg just 1/4 of prawn toast per person, and additional dishes such as another spring roll took over half an hour to arrive. After our starters, we requested rice and main dishes, but were told the kitchen couldn't accommodate it and we couldn’t both have a main dish of our choice. We paid £26 per person for the buffet and received spring rolls, prawn toast, and 2 duck rolls. They were rude to us and our restless children, insisting they be quiet. The restaurant owners need to catch up with the times children should be welcomed, not silenced. We won't be returning to this restaurant; it was a disappointing experience."

"I stumbled upon this little cafe in Brynymor Road the other day and went in for a quick bite on their special offer menu, which was a mere £4.80 for starters and a main course. The main reason I went in was because it was mainly Chinese people eating there, the menu was in Mandarin script and English, and there were lots of interesting and authentic sounding dishes on offer. Inside, it is simply furnished with formica tables and has a takeaway service too. Service was efficient as you'd expect. You order at the counter and the starters arrived quickly. My husband had prawn toasts, which were I think the nicest I have ever tried, with a large juicy prawn on each one (well, I let him eat most of them). I had 3 war tip, which I had never tried before, but they were delicious, being dumplings with a crispy golden coating they reminded me of hot spicy pork pies. Very yummy. The choice of main courses on the set menu was small, with chow mein and curry and sweet and sour chicken that sort of thing. OH had chicken curry and rice, while I had chicken fried rice, mainly so I could share the fried rice with OH, who prefers that to boiled (or we'd have had to pay more for fried and we decided to stick within the offer). After the tasty first courses, I was rather disappointed with the mains. My fried rice contained some chicken, and very small amounts of rice and peas and no other veggies so was rather boring, and the rice was to my taste overcooked and clumpy. OH was happy with the taste of his chicken curry (standard fare) but the boiled rice was again overcooked and in lumps and way too much for the amount of sauce so it soaked it all up and made the meal dry. We both left tons of rice. OH said he would never come in again, but I think that with a more careful choice of main, I would enjoy it or just buy a big range of starters and avoid the rice! I appreciate that some people may prefer their rice cooked softer, but as it wasn't Thai sticky rice, I felt it really was overdone. But those war tip were just delishhhhh."

"I came with my friend to celebrate her birthday. we wanted to spend a good time and feel like home. it was a wonderful decision! I tried “BONDIOLA PAMPEANA” (brilled pork with Craolla sauce): a really delicious piece of meat that is quite difficult to find in london! it was succulent so it is great enough for a person! my friend chose another classic dish: “Milanesa” (steak milanese): she said it was a perfect combination between brot and meet. she was so happy that she was the next weekend insisting on going back! we will definitely do this! besides eating was excellent, the atmosphere was really enchanting. the personal was beautiful and we could really fulfill our engagement! we had...more"

"店舖堅守香港茶餐廳風味,每樣菜式皆保留本土香港特色,老闆和員工態度和藹可親,充滿人情味,親力親為,對於食物質素有著極高要求。蒸魚,焗飯,咖喱,叉燒,凍奶茶,凍鴛鴦特別出色,媲美香港餐廳。路經約克嘅朋友必試。記住店舖只收現金,特別菜式需預訂。 The best Hong Kong style tea restaurant I have encountered in England. Dishes preserves the best local style. Malaysian style curry, cha siu, steam fish, baked chicken rice with cream sauce on top with cheese, iced milk tea and iced coffee with milk tea...tastes extremely well and even much better than what you get in Hong Kong. For anyone who is in or pass through York, Upper River Restaurant should be one of your bucket list to try. Only cash payment, special dishes such as steam fish and Hong Kong style rice in clay pot should be reserved beforehand."

"The restaurant's deceptive pictures did not match our experience on Saturday night around 9pm. While the décor was as expected, the cleanliness of the restaurant left much to be desired as three tables were left dirty. With only two staff members working, it was clear that the restaurant was trying to cut costs, resulting in poor service when the restaurant got busy. The food was also disappointing, with thick pastry in the chicken dumplings, overly crispy duck, tasteless hoisin sauce, and vegetable-less spring rolls. Overall, the experience was subpar and I would not return. Iceland offers a better value and tastier Chinese meal."

"We enjoyed a Cream Tea outside on the terrace. I chose the fruit scone which came with fresh clotted cream and jam, and it was absolutely perfect. Probably the best scone that I enjoyed on our 2 week trip (and we had one nearly every day! . It's worth seeking this place out, which is just off High Street off a small alley sandwiched between two store fronts. You won't regret it! "I am only not marking this place 2 stars as only tried 2 dishes on the menu which is not necessarily representative. The som tam salad was 90% carrot but redeemed by a very tasty dressing so I finished it. But may as well just call it carrot salad ! The pad thai was gloopy and I thought had a good whack of tomato ketchup in it. I lost the will to finish it. Service was nice enough and as it was the third Thai place I had stuck my head into, the decor was at least the nicest. But now I will never know if the other 2 places would have been better choices on the food front!"

"I would like to begin by saying that I had the fajita wrap from here, and it was delightful therefore the reason for more than 1 star and I wish I had left a good rating for them instead of in a bad one. an about this experience. I'm sorry for this, but I'm humorously shocked and can't stop laughing every time I open the container. I'm sorry that I usually give good critiks, but I feel that this is a fyre festival conspiracy and I can't help feeling personal sacrifice after I have put an annoying request on avocado that they are not like the even most awesome I am. all in all, I would probably think to go back because they are pleasant staff to avoid the bagels from now on."

"Went to celebrate my friends birthday. There were quite a lot of us and to make it easier, we sent our menu choices ahead of the meal. I went here quire a few years ago and it was very nice. In the past year or so it always looked quiet but has recently picked up and the reviews are good. Plus it seems to have had a bit of a makeover. All I can say is the service was excellent. They handled the large group of us brilliantly. Staff were extremely friendly. We all enjoyed our food. It seems to have more flavour than other Asian places. I loved my meal, but one person had the fish starter. I tried it and tbh it was one of the nicest dishes I have ever had. I will return again soon. Also the portion sizes are good and it seems to be good value as well. Well done. We all had a great time."

"had my first trip to the Koo shed this morning to the breakfast. the food was delicious, the best breakfast I ever had, everything was so fresh! the workers are all super beautiful and although very busy they took the time to make sure that we got everything we need and were very attentive! had the pleasure to meet the owners while our first bottle gets fresh milk, they ensured that we knew how the machine worked and were more than happy to answer all the questions we had. I could not recommend eating here for a bite and some beautiful fresh creamy milk (very cheap also.) also a beautiful garden section with a lot of plants, plant pots and garden ornaments. in the café area they also show video recordings of the cows in the fields (they see super happy running around) and the courtyard area. my own and my mother will be back 100% next time to taste the bakery and milk shakes!"

"I visited Bristol for a long weekend and stumbled upon this hidden gem. The atmosphere was friendly and the service provided by the Chef and Host was outstanding! As a native Cuban, I can vouch that the food and mojitos were top-notch. Whether you're meeting friends, going on a date, or simply wanting to try a new cuisine, this restaurant is a must-visit in Bristol. And don't forget to order the "Flan" for dessert - it's the best!"

"I'm a huge dishoom fan. I was in london and always wanted to check out the edinburgh. be careful if you want to come Friday Saturday Sunday, book a table in advance! eating was amazing! great quality and serving for the price. and I am surprised how fast they serve. I thought to work a bit before they serve, but I got my pc out, eating was done! also they did the grill so perfect, not overcooked nor undercooked. also says a lot of how much they care for the quality of the food they serve. as I write, my dessert is ready! how can they make it to get eat so fast?! these iceflakes remind me of a dessert in china, 沙1987. great taste! Finally they want special hommage to the personal mat. he is so passionate and responsible and serves the minimum requirements, even if he was busy to turn tables. dishoom is happy to have workers like him who loves his job and knows what he does."

"I have never felt robbed after visiting a restaurant before, I did last night. Service was poor and slow. Although some staff were good two had attitude with everything they did. The Steak was terrible. Hard to cut despite being medium rare. For the price I could have bought 3 and cooked to a far higher standard. The entire menu is overpriced for what it is. I won't be visiting again. Lack of atmosphere and to hear who I assume is the manager at the bar saying they are too busy for more or something along those lines. It was nowhere near full and you could see they were struggling. There was 6 of us and it was the biggest waste of £200 ever. Edit: forgot to mention the menu didn't make any sense, banoffee pie said it had a digestive base but it they used rich tea. So weird."

"Got deliveroo, so may be different in the food court. Ordered hainanese chicken rice (a Singaporean hawker favourite), roti canai and sambal. The roti canai was great, potentially 50p or £1 too expensive but still great. Definitely order this. The hainanese chicken was mixed the sauce had great flavours. The chicken tasted nice but there wasn't enough meat if I compare it to $3sgd 5 hawker dishes I'd say they often have double the meat. At £9 I think there could be more meat, and less rice. For £9 it would also be a nice to have the usual accompaniments of Soy sauce, chilli sauce etc pots. Perhaps you get these if you eat in.Finally the sambal. This had some nice flavours, perhaps needed to be kicked up a notch on the spice front and probably reduced to about £1.5 or £2 max given the size of the pot. It's £2.80 on Deliveroo but 1.80 in store it seems. Perhaps an error? All in all, good enough that I'll be trying the laksa and Nasi Goreng soon!Edit: I think many of the prices on deliveroo are higher, probably the cater for the margins deliveroo take. Probably better to go and collect!"

"we really fought in chinatown, first to find a restaurant that was open (it was over 3pm) and then one that even had a vegetarian dish. after at least 45 minutes window shopping we were at big bowls door. her menu had many things and we're just exhausted. the point of the long-term introduction is that if they have diet (or budgetary) restrictions, please proceed directly here. their combo menus are a lot of food for 2 (big bowl in the did.) the Veg-Copsuey I had was a satisfying dish of noodles and steamed vegetables. they did not sneak on exotic veggies, how to do cheaper places. the green apple native mojito was too sweet, but refreshing...read more"

"Let me start off by saying the food here is stunning. One of the best curry's I've ever had. That said for 2 glasses of rola cola, 2 curry's and 2 sides costing best part of £60 it'd wanna be amazing. The staff were very friendly and attentive until, we came to pay the bill. The business is listed on the dine card club, which you have to apply for and pay for yet refused to honour the discount when presented with the offer. Once this took place the staff became quite hostile, like we'd cause trouble over a £10 offer. I politely paid the bill and left no questions asked. It's a shame I'd of been a regular customer based on the food quality but the other parts of the experience were poor at best. Amazing food, not worth the money. Go to The New Bell in Great Barr the foods better and literally half the price. Staff are lovely and the pop is fizzy and tasty. Jeera could be amazing but is missing the mark."

"Love this place. It's owned by an ex amateur boxer whose normally always there cooking away!! Great seeing a huge lump of a guy cooking in a tiny shack; though what he produces from that tiny shack is always delicious. It's located in the indoor market and it's always the one with the biggest queue! So far I've had the lamb curry, chicken curry, bbq chicken served with with rice, roasted veg, fried plantain and a festival! Guys, this place always has a queue for a reason. If you like Carribean food and you're in the area, try this place! It's a tad expensive but worth a try."

"Good varied menu and selection of cakes. Reasonable prices . Food didn't take long to come despite it being quite busy. Food was fresh, and a good sized portion, and nicely presented. Great front of house service from the waitress, she was very efficient, friendly and helpful about menu choices. Plus a nice little shop to buy meals and other goodies to take home. Parking: Parking on site, plus overflow parking available in field opposite . Service: Dine in"
