"I visited this restaurant around 7pm on a Saturday and it was still quite quiet. The steak sandwich was delicious, the service was friendly, and they had a great selection of champagne by the glass. They also offer live jazz for those who enjoy that type of music."

"after the arrival at the time we were shown to a table. we then joined a queen of about 20 other people waiting to get thier food. after about 15 minutes visited a person d and went on to cuddle out, he meat. when I came to the sweetheart inventively, there weren't kartoffels, spit, runner beans. they finally came. then all sauces were empty. again they had to ask that they be fulfilled. When I came to our table, my food was cold. all for £43.00 for 3 persons, with the floor in front of the food counter was covered with food as it was not cleaned. the general condition of the spatialities was untidy and dirty. we will not return."

"During my recent visit, I found the food to be dry and lukewarm. I frequent this restaurant often, but it seems that the Sunday carvery has become inconsistent. I had requested to sit closer to the food area when I made my reservation, but ended up sitting far away, which was quite disappointing. The only bright spot of this visit was our waitress, who was very helpful. Given this experience, I don’t think I would return anytime soon."

"Reserved a table, had the confirmation email but when I arrived there was no reservation for me. That's the 2nd time in the last 3 bookings that has happened at Toby. Luckily there was a table available but it probably annoyed the 30 or so people waiting. I went at peak-time on a bank holiday which wasn't the best idea. In general the food was ok but they always struggle to get their potatoes cooked nicely."

The duty manager did make a small deduction from the bill, but it did not compensate for the disappointment. There was also zero 'atmosphere '; it was like sitting in the hush of a church. One good thing was the restaurant manager (a lovely Polish lady) who was deeply apologetic, but obviously didn 't have the authority to do anything about it."
