"I was staying in the hotel which is in the same building as the restaurant, which is also open to the general public, although the restaurant does not open until 6pm every day, the time I arrived for my meal, so was almost the first to be seated. I ordered one of their Meal Deals (Starter, Main, Drink and Breakfast at a set price, with an upgrade of a dessert, charged extra, but at a discount. There seemed to be only 2 young waiting staff available for more than ½ an hour and the restaurant was busier at that time than I 've seen here before. the extra staff member did not seem to stay for very long ! My starter, which was perfect but was brought to my table by the chef. which I thought was unusual but by then then the 2 waiting staff were running around doing everything at a busy time . After that I then had to wait 30 40 minutes for the main course to arrive. I had changed the chips to mash and the fish was laid on top. When I lifted it up, the skin was burnt, some bits being charcoal, which had dropped onto the white mash discoloring it. As the fish looked OK, if a little dry on top, I accepted it, deciding that, as I had been waiting for almost an hour, I didn 't want to wait for another hour to get an acceptable meal. I suspect that the fish had been cooked properly and then kept under a lamp until someone was free to bring it to the table but I did comment on what I thought of it when the waitress cleared the plate. (I think she was new to the restaurant as a male colleague was explaining everything to her. She apologised (but it wasn 't her fault ! and I asked her to let the Duty Manager know. Did they come and apologise ? Of course not !!! The waitress came back and said that I was to be offered an extra, free, glass of wine, but as I had already had enough alcohol, I turned that down. She went away again, returning with an offer that I would not be charged for the dessert a reduction of £2 on a bill of £25.99. As it was that or nothing, I accepted On my way back to my room, the hotel receptionist asked how my meal was so she got the full details, poor lady ! She apologised again and said she would inform the hotel management, but nothing came of that. Maybe someone in authority will read this review and make contact ? Fortunately, breakfast went smoothly !"

"Well you asked ……. So despite a booking for 1pm given with deposits and a pre order for a festive menu We arrived early for drinks and told that the booking was for 11.30 ? by Adrian and that he had bought staff in early to cater for us we explained it was definitely a 1pm meal we had asked for. By 1.20 starters arrived but orders were awry and no toasted bread with the terrine (which was gorgeous) It was 2pm before the mains arrived but two customers were then informed their meals had been dropped (accidents can happen) however when their Salmon meals arrived 20 minutes later it was a quite underwhelming meal served. Lumpy Sauce no roasted carrots and a small portion of salmon and a small portion of beans no check back was given on the meal to ask why. Desserts was served but no spoons for one table and when requested again Adrian told us to collect them from another table. Finally it was discovered we were a dessert light and despite asking for it again was told another diner had accepted the missing dessert. So we just said OK we would forget and the bill would be altered. Sorry to report the mince pie size was minuscule with the size of the cream it was served with. Must say folks that had the Turkey Dinner (majority) had great reviews on their food and portion sizes. The two female waiting staff were brilliant and we could tell it had seemed like a lunchtime which had caused problems however the rest of the pub was not busy and they did their very best. This was a once a year Festive affair for 20 folks which I’m sorry to say was spoilt by poor Customer Service and Food/Menu problems which could have been resolved on the day by Adrian just talking to us in an acceptable manner instead he really caused an atmosphere."

"Took about 45 minutes to get our food Saturday lunchtime because there was only one chef in the kitchen. The staff did let us know in advance though. I wish I could say the food was worth the wait, but it really wasn 't. The plain burger was... plain. If the bun had been a bit flatter, you could 've given me this burger and told me it was the vegan Mcdonald 's burger and I would 've believed you. Same anaemic iceberg lettuce, same fluorescent yellow American mustard, token slice of tomato and pickle. The patty was non memorable so at least it can 't have been that bad I guess. The chicken strips were just ok. Too spongy, not enough texture/flake. The batter was nice and crisp but it had some strange seasoning in it. The chips were the best part, although they were also spiced a bit strangely. Tasted almost as if they sprinkle them with cinnamon and sugar. I struggled to finish my burger tbh and neither me nor my boyfriend wanted the last chicken strip. I also don 't love that everything is served in disposable takeaway containers, made it feel even cheaper. Worst of all, the music in this place absolutely did my head in. It 's not just obnoxiously loud, but that specific style of beach/club music with thumping bass and annoying beeping ? sounds at least at the time we were there . My boyfriend later called it food for people with child palate and that 's 100% correct. That friend everyone has who will only eat white bread and spaghetti O 's, they 'll probably love the food here. My conclusion is, why would you ever go here if you could go to Doppelganger across town?"
