"The staff at this restaurant are incredibly friendly and professional. They go out of their way to accommodate their guests. The brasserie staff, in particular, are outstanding. The food is fantastic and the chef was more than happy to prepare something for us that wasn't on the menu. She also mentioned that the table reservation was only for 90 minutes, which was not communicated online or in the email confirmation. "I can't believe I lived in durham for four years and never visited this place. 30 years later, our day trip through the delicious eating here was not finished. I had the complete vegetarian breakfast and each aspekt of it was in front of location. perfectly cooked fried eggs, generous pieces of halloumi, beautiful toast, borons, mushroom, veggie sausage and a selection of juice all at a bargain price."

"We went for a pre ordered cream tea but when it eventually arrived there were some OK sandwiches and a pile of garish cakes which we had not ordered. When just one small dry scone each arrived, we asked for more but that was refused. The jam was of a poor quality with no discernable fruit in it. No butter was offered. Throughout, the service was slow with no staff in evidence at all for long periods. The bill included a service charge which we declined, but they nad not deducted the £5 per person deposit which we had paid. We will not be back."

"we sat because google had tried to get us to a closed place on the road. we were offered as the only option for £30 per person the complete festive menu with unlimited grill. we had an hour to go to our show so we didn't want to sit there and spend there forever, so we asked for a little less. When our waitress finally came back to our starter selection, she informed us that we could get a Vortheater dinner that we chose because it was only £20 per person and seemed to fit into our limited time. suppenstarters finally came out, they seemed confused when we got up to get our grill because they had not deleted our empty dishes after a few minutes, and they had not had the trouble to clear our empty grill bowls when we had done quite a lot of time. When we finally got their attention, she informed us about dessert and we ordered to go cheesecakes so we could make our show. After ten minutes I finally got up and paid the bill so we could go, but we never got our cheesecake. even if it didn't come, we ordered it and never got it. the suppe was really good, and the cook did not make our fish so good. if we had a better service, it would have been a higher rating."

"I and three ex-workers went to the city restaurant for our 3 monthly meet and as all previous meet we were not disappointed about eating, service or price. we had all three courses, none of us ordered the same, we had softdrinks, latte and tee and the bill came only £75. the standard of food and the care it presents on the teller is the first class! at least twice in the week to lunch and I am always happy with my lunch. a nice note is as soon as they go into the door, they are welcomed by all employees and when they leave, they all thank them!"

"We were staying at the Premier Inn St Enochs Square and thought we would go to this pub Times Square for a dinner as it was close. Worse decision ever made. We ordered the stuffed chicken and cajen chicken salad with two teas. The stuffed chicken was cold, looked like it was cardboard wrapped around something and very tough. This was sent back to kitchen uneaten, the calendar chicken salad was tasteless and after few bites this was also left. Tea cups had old stains inside. We were given refund for the stuffed chicken. Everything else was reluctantly paid for. Would never go back to this establishment, we ended up getting a carry out from local take away."

"I have worked in the village since 1997 and have frequented “The Bot” since it opened . It is always my “go to” place every week on my way home , having worked away for 5 days . The staff are all lovely and discreet , knowing what I’d like to drink and eat . I only have a small appetite , and it’s never a problem that I have a kid’s burger with extra cheese !! Thanks Archie and Joe ! Yesterday I had a Club Sandwich , which was lovely !! The Hanging Kebabs are amazing ! My personal favourite is the pork belly . I sent some builder guests here on Monday night as our own kitchen was closed and they loved the Hanging Kebabs !! I wouldn’t recommend somewhere I wouldn’t eat myself . Tom , Hannah , Jemma , Chloe , Dan and all the team work really hard to ensure all guests are looked after …… So much so I have decided with Jemma and Hannah’s help to have my significant birthday party here in the beautiful Rose Rooms , above The Bot , in June Thanks guys for always looking after me , also big shout out to Elise for just being amazing !! "Off the main drag in Canterbury, this place is well worth a visit. It can be a little challenging to find (we were walking) as google might lead you to a bit of a dead end, but just keep going around the corner and you'll pop right into it. A nice airy space with high and low tables and a long bar. Love the sustainable and local focus. Really pleasant server and barkeep as well. We ordered the bubble and squeak starter which was a new one for us Americans. I had the steak and Foundry Ale pie which was incredible. Exectly how you want this sort of thing loaded with tender meat and veg and a huge, flaky crust. He had the hunters chicken which I heard no complaints about. We finished with the sticky toffee pudding and it was one of the best things I ate during our travels. Loved the sparkling fruit cider that I ordered: fresh and bright and bubbly. Can't recommend this place enough!"

"Went in on a quiet (there was only one other table who finished shortly after I arrived) early weekday evening around 5pm, seated fairly quickly, waitress came over to take order and I said I wasn't ready yet, she came over again a few minutes later, told her I still hadn't decided but ordered water to drink and asked her to give me two more minutes to decide. She walked past my table twice more as I tried to get her attention to ask her about the menu but she completely blanked me. 15 minutes later I was still waiting for her to return, got up and looked for her to see her standing by the kitchen, twirling her hair and flirting with the chef. At that point I realised she couldn't be bothered with me, my presence clearly a distraction to her attempts at getting the chef to ask her out. I simply walked out. There's plenty other restaurants nearby, so I won't bother coming back."

"I had to pull a waiter over after been seated for 15 minutes to ask if we could order as I hadn’t even ordered a drink at this point. I ordered all the drinks and food at the same time as I didn’t know how long it was going to take. Two people that were seated after us got their drinks and food way before us. Food was ok but not worth the menu prices. I had the New York strip steak which came well done even though I asked for medium rare. The mash had skin in it which I don’t know if it was supposed to but I found the taste of the skin overpowering. The veg was watery which then made the rest of the food watery. I got the Bangkok shrimp with my meal but couldn’t taste shrimp it was just like crispy breadcrumbs. It had a sweet taste which didn’t compliment the rest of the food. To be honest the whole meal tasted plain and like something I would expect in a Wetherspoon. No flavour. My son had the pasta which was a very very small portion and the marinara sauce which we asked to be served on the side was freezing cold like it hadn’t been heated at all, it had just come out of the fridge and I think they must of forgotten to heat it. The sundae was massive and the only reason I have given a average for the food and not a poor rating. Last time we ate here it was lovely. The waiter seemed to pay more attention filling up the glasses of the people having brunch. I got charged a 13.5 service charge too which I wouldn’t of paid if it wasn’t added to the bill. I would of sent the food back but the rate we were being served I thought we’d be there all night if I had done that. All in all I was disappointed"

"Dirty Dick 's is a great bar along the ever popular Rose Street. Currently their social media profile says: Whisky and gin galore! Classy Scottish grub, craft beer, clutter, antiquary, and great tunes. And, yes, that 's what you 're going to find here. Also, they 're dog friendly, family friendly, vegan friendly if you need a bite; they 're just all around friendly. As you can imagine, all of this as well as being in a touristy area makes it almost always busy. Not sure what to order? They 've got beer on draught, 250+ single malts, whisky flights for both the novice and experienced, and if you don 't know just ask. I did. I wanted something from the Highlands that had notes of toffee. The bartender passed me over to the owner who made a suggestion and encouraged me to try it before committing. "On a Friday evening in June at 5:45pm, there were only two bar staff working at this restaurant. Unfortunately, we had to wait 15 minutes every time we visited the bar. We eventually gave up and decided to go to the Harp Bar, which was much busier but also much quicker in terms of service. The bar staff at the restaurant didn't seem to care about the long wait times."

"I must say, I was so disappointed with my visit to Fredricks. My friend and I went for afternoon tea and were really looking forward to it. But we both found the experience really disappointing. Firstly the afternoon tea cakes looked nothing like the advert, nowhere near as fancy. The scones were lovely but we only had about a couple of tablespoons of cream between the two of us which wasn’t enough! The chap who initially gave us our tea was lovely but then once he had gone we didn’t see a soul. There was no one coming to check if we were ok or needed refills. I ended up drinking cold tea and my friend who had a coffee had nothing once that was finished. It wasn’t until we were practically finished that someone else came to have afternoon tea that we could actually grab someone to ask them for a refill! The ambiance of the afternoon tea was awful. Initially there was lovely music in the background but after about 15 mins it was turned off and we were left in silence. All we could hear were staff in the next room shouting to each other about something or other. There was no atmosphere at all and we actually felt like we shouldn’t be there! I’ve been to a number of afternoon teas and this was by far the worst one I have had. However this was my friends first afternoon tea and we thought that Fredricks would be fabulous for a first time tea..... but she was so disappointed! I felt really bad for her! : I don’t think I would come again."
