"Had two excellent meals at this restaurant in the heart of Oxford. The welcome and service we received from Sam and his staff was terrific the extent that we decided to have another evening there for our last of three nights in Oxford. We reserved a table for 7-30 but arrived to find the restaurant packed as many were eating prior to going to the theatre. In spite of the crowds Sam spotted us as soon as we walked through the door and led us to our table. (the only one vacant) The service was exemplary, professional and very friendly, even though we had not been served by the same waiter the young lady from the first night made a point of coming and saying hello once the theatre crowds had left. The food was of an equally high standard and served timely in spite of the restaurant being so busy. Sam came when we asked for the bill and chatted to us and the bill was very reasonable. I would point out that we never left a tip as there was a 10% service charge less than other restaurants in Oxford. I rarely write reviews on restaurants but our visits to this restaurant were exceptional."

"Absolutely beautiful ambience. The most pleasant staff, particularly Grace who made suggestions on what to add to our meal and was attentive without being interfering. I would highly recommend."

"very popular local restaurant that has been popular for a long time. many cosy corners in the flourishing dining room. they focus on some very well prepared dishes. for more than 15 years, it is perfect for a pre-performance dinner before going to the almeida theatre or music venue in the islington town hall."

"The starters were fine and per usual for Cote. We also ordered two fillet steaks a minute steak and a chicken Palladian salad. One of the fillet steaks came over cooked and the minute steak was too overly salty. Sent both these back. The minute steak on its return was still too salty, but what to do? The fillet was cooked to order this time but my daughter did not enjoy the taste. My chicken salad was supposed to have a tarragon dressing, the reason why I ordered, this was not my first time with this salad, I’ve had it before and knew it’s taste. This salad tasted different at first I thought I had ordered wrong and kept eating but towards the end OE as sure it should have a distinct tarragon flavour. I thought something was amiss until I realized the tarragon was just not there. When I questioned, the manger went and got the dressing from the chef and said this is the dressing we put on the salad. I am pretty sure in the past this salad had a more creamier tarragon flavour, where the dressing was emulsified. But this dressing he showed me was nothing like that. It also didn’t taste of tarragon. But he insisted that it was tarragon. I should have asked him to taste it, or another client to confirm the taste, but to me it was absolutely flavourless."

"My friend and I chose the fixed price/pre-theatre menu at this restaurant on a Monday night. The restaurant was busy, but we were seated promptly when we arrived at 6:30. We were initially given the Christmas menu and the a la carte menu, but had to ask for the fixed price menu. We both opted for the 3-course meal for £20.95, which we found to be good value. My pear salad starter was decent, although it had hardly any pear, it was still tasty. The steak frites main course was very good, with a large thin steak cooked nicely. For dessert, we had plum clafoutis with ice cream, which was also enjoyable. I also had a large glass of rose, which was very drinkable. Overall, it was an enjoyable meal and good value, especially for London."

"Started with a warm welcome on arrival. As we were early we decided to have a quiet drink outside before taking our table. We were instantly issued with a menu and within 5 minutes asked if we were ready to order? Clearly a lack on communication from staff! We were shown to our table by a waitress who was not very engaging. She took our drinks order and left. She returned a few minutes later to take our food order. I wanted steak and pepper sauce, only to be told they didn’t have an peppercorn sauce? This is at the early sitting so was very surprised. I asked could the chef not make this as it isn’t that difficult but told that was the case and I had to order something different! Her table service didn’t improve from there. She brought a bottle of water and poured 2 glasses spilling most on it on the table, banged the bottle on the table and walked away. The starters were nice, but the mains were not very well cooked and it was very disappointing. We didn’t even get asked if everything was OK whilst we were eating It was only when another waitress cleared the table we were asked if everything was OK which I replied that it was just OK. She sensed from my tone that it wasn’t, and mentioned this to the first waitress. When we were presented with the bill we were told they had knocked the drinks off without any explanation? When I presented her with cash she told us she couldn’t give any change! So the bill was paid in full without any service charge (which was on the bill! Clearly not the experience we were hoping for but will not be visiting another one of this chain again!,"

"This was not my first time at Côte Brasserie, Canterbury and I was not disappointed. A minor irritation was the delay after ordering pre-drinks for my guest, it eventually arrived after a reminder. The food was hot, well presented and wholesome. A memorable experience as both I and my guest were celebrating our respective birthdays"

"The atmosphere was incredible, my family and I really enjoyed the space. The service was good, lovely waitress who attempted to help at all times, I feel she was maybe inexperienced and could do with some training. The food would have been perfect however during my starter (goats cheese with lettuce, beetroot and cranberries) I was mid eating and pulled a piece of plastic from my mouth that was in the food. I did complain to our lovely waitress however she was unsure of how to deal with the situation so I was advised to complain to the fork in regards to some kind of compensation as our total was 117 pounds. Which is a lot for food with plastic in it."

"This restaurant should really be called The Cash Cow at the Airport . Given a fairly constant throughput of captive diners you 're unlikely to go anywhere else to eat if you 've decided to stay), the management obviously feels safe in jacking prices through the roof £4.50 for bread and butter, even if it 's chilli butter, is absurd; and £19.50 for a pretty indifferent bacon cheeseburger is off the charts) and not bothering to update the decor, which feels 70s but is probably mid-90s. The OpenTable booking did not actually make it through to the restaurant, but luckily they could accommodate us. Service was pleasant and helpful, to be fair, although only one individual appeared to be allowed to seat people and take payment, which meant long-ish waits to do troublesome things like pay."

"We decided to dine at this restaurant because the hotel next door had limited gluten-free options. The server provided us with a food allergy card to ensure our safety. The menu clearly marked gluten-free items, making it easy to identify. I had several delicious options to choose from and ended with the nachos topped with pork, which were fantastic."

"I appreciated the concept of blending tapas and French cuisine at this restaurant. The baked camembert with honey was a standout dish for me. The duck, while a bit dry, had tender meat that easily came off the bone. However, the escargot was a bit rubbery and I felt that the restaurant should provide proper utensils for eating them. Overall, I don't think I would return for a French-inspired meal."

"This restaurant could easily be called "The Cash Cow at the Airport." With a steady stream of diners who have limited dining options, the management seems to take advantage by charging exorbitant prices (£4.50 for bread and butter, and £19.50 for a mediocre bacon cheeseburger) and neglecting to update the dated decor. Despite a hiccup with our OpenTable booking not going through, the restaurant was able to accommodate us. The service was pleasant and helpful, although it seemed that only one person was responsible for seating guests and processing payments, resulting in long waits for simple tasks."

"During our meal, no one checked in on us, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy. We felt pressured to finish quickly. After we finished eating, our table was cleared promptly, but then we found ourselves waiting with no staff around when we were ready to pay. Additionally, there was a fire alarm that went off. While that wouldn’t have been an issue if it was just a drill, it would have been nice to receive some kind of warning."
