"I am very critical of Chinese food, it is my favorite and when I travel all the country for work, I try many different more. I stumbled over lipss when I work in chester for 4 weeks, and be honest, it's up with the best. the bark chow I had just 10/10, the best I ever had hands down. Unfortunately next week is my last week in the opposite and I think that 135 miles per way is a bit far for a chinese otherwise I would be more regular. keep the good work young, it was a pleasure."

"I went here with my family on the 11th March 18 in total , me and my husband come her a lot ,and it has always been lovely , however this time the service was non existent, we had young children with us and they...seemed to just be hindrances to staff , we complained at the time and was ignored, until we paid the bill at the end and it was 2:50 short !! We spent over 400 that night and they called us back because of 2:50 , we asked to speak to David the manager on 2 occasions and was told by his wife he was busy , she was rude just like the staff , I was shocked at first , but then very annoyed that why I have put on this review , we shall not return again . " weeduck22 (3 reviews) Isle of Bute, United Kingdom Every time I order a takeaway from this restaurant I get a surly teenager, who frankly sounds stoned and disinterested and so detached it's like I've disturbed him from doing something he'd rather be doing like well, getting stoned and drinking Frosty Jack in the local park with his mates. He invariably gets my order wrong and tonight I had to phone and re order something once again as it didn't arrive in the original order. I waited nearly 2 hours from the original call until getting the missed item. I can only imagine that if he isn't stoned, doom scrolling his smartphone has left him with the attention span of a goldfish, hence his inability to take an order of 4 items! Also, I've phoned many times and requested a new menu as the one I have is out of date and it never materialises. You know that way when you know someone is not listening to you and and just want to get you off the phone asap yeah, that's my experience every time. They have a captive market on the island I live on so have no incentive, motivation or even the desire it seems, to provide anything like decent customer service. On a more positive note the food is adequate and they haven't poisoned me...yet... Date of visit: June 2023"

"I’m very disappointed by your staff name YAN . I was in your restaurant last year . She serve me and my wife well . Very polite . So we decided to book a table for coming Friday while I’m in Gloucester . I rang and spoke to YAN yesterday . As usual very friendly , I told her i need a corner table and she said the restaurant is busy that day which I said it’s fine any table . I also request for 7 pm but again she said can I come 6.45pm which I’m fine too . she took all my detail which I’m happy . BUT she is a FAKER before she hang up the phone she spoke in her language with someone or she just speaking to herself . didn’t even realised I haven’t hung my phone off . I have an Asian Chinese client in the same car !!! Which understand what she said . She was saying we are very fxxcking troublesome . How could she be so FAKE OMG me and wife just cannot believe that what she said !! She is very good at acting . I was telling everyone how good she is but a damm NO . Please cancel my table we will go somewhere else . This doesn’t end here I’m going to post this incident wherever I can . Me and my wife felt very disappointed by this . FAKER YAN shame on you ."

"The customer service at this restaurant was absolutely terrible. We waited 25 minutes before I finally asked when our order would be ready, and the response we received was rude. It was mentioned that they were dealing with a large order, but it would have been nice to be informed of this before we placed our order. I was then insulted and received support from others who were also waiting for their food. I decided to leave, but my partner later informed me that she experienced bullying and victimization while waiting. As for the food, it was poorly prepared, tasteless, and overall disappointing."

"I phoned up to make an order for collection before ordering I asked two questions 1 is the curry Breast or Thigh meat I was told breast this was a lie! the chicken was cheewy and slimy that 's eather thigh or cheap bottom of the barrel breast that 's been steeping in water all day! Proper chicken breast should be fresh chopped chunks firm to the touch but will fall apart when eaten! 2 Is there peas , Carrots or other vegetables in the curry I ask as this is an English thing to thin out the curry with cheap veg over more expensive chicken I was told there was so I asked for this to be removed from both my curries. Yet I still received two curries with Mushrooms now I know this is a Fungi but I think it would be obvious this would be included in the No vegetables! I also asked for boiled rice what I received was in fact sticky rice so sticky I couldn 't even shake it of my fingers! Now there is a difference between Boiled and sticky rice that difference being starch boiled rice should be washed 2/3 times before being cooked to remove the starch this stops the rice developing the sticky starchy coating that creates the sticky rice commonly used in sushi and rice balls! So this was clearly not done as the rice could have been molded into a castle and kept its shape be warned you will receive sticky rice! Considering I paid over £40 I would have at least expected to receive even a free small bag of prawn crackers especially when ordering a curry but this was not the case. I find it hard to believe this place has won any awards at all unless from a local community award where testers have not had much choice to compare it with! I knew there was a reason I avoided Chinese/Cantonese restaurants in England like the plague when visiting family. If I am ever back down this way I most definitely will not be visiting this restaurant again!"

"Popped in with friends who recommended the all you can eat buffet, I wish we had not of bothered. The decor has not changed since it was opened in the 80's. The food was disgusting. Vegetable Spring Roll was dripping with grease. The chicken wings were coated in granulated sugar???? The ribs were plain with a bit of sweet and sour sauce dribbled on them. The main courses were too sweet. The seasonal vegetables were bland. The beef Chow Mein was weird, I think the beef was boiled??? Nothing about the food was to my liking. All you can eat buffet £19.50,not worth the money"

"Don't know if it's because they were busy last night but it was the worst salt and chilli chicken I've ever had in my life and bad stomach all night. "We received a very warm and friendly greeting upon our first visit to this restaurant, as we are new to the area and were recommended by our neighbors. The food was excellent and we will definitely be returning soon. The pub was relatively quiet, which is why I gave it 4 stars, but they had a good selection of draught beers and ales. I will definitely be back to try more. The service was top-notch, and the atmosphere was pleasant. I highly recommend trying the Cantonese Sweet and Sour Chicken, Egg Fried Rice, and Kung Po Sauce. Overall, a great experience and well worth the price of £10-20 per person for dinner."

"Haven't thought about leaving a review until someone I know had a really bad stomach ache and the runs from this place .this prompted me into warning people not to eat here .I'm from leven which is the next village I used to eat here once or twice a year as the food wasn't to bad but the portions where getting smaller and less tasty but I love Chinese so I carried on buying all the time promising myself that's the last time I go there ..one Friday night I ordered a king prawn curry, this particular night I was perusing the menu and the Chinese lady asked what I wanted I told her I wasn't ready to order she tutted and Carried on scribbling away with her pen tapping impatiently louder and louder ..I felt a little rushed so reluctantly ordered..can I order now please I'm ready with that she stood up and said ill be back to take your order in a minute...mmmmm okkkk anywho she eventually returned and sat down tapping her pen ..so I said can I order ..what do you want she said I ordered and waited for my food which she unusually went in the kitchen with my slip of paper ..she then returned and handed me my food with an evil face smiling ..well the next day I couldn't move I was in absolute agony on the toilet all day sweating cold hot hot cold ..Ido not eat here if you value your life seriously I thought I was going die"

"After considering what to eat, we decided to have some takeaway Chinese Food. How wrong were we. I( had King Prawn with Spring Onions and Ginger. It was truly the worst so called food I have ever had. The King Prawns were very, very hard and not cooked properly. The Spring Onions and Ginger were the same. I had to throw it all away. What a waste. To top it off, they have increased their proces by more than 10% for so called food. Disgusting food, really over priced. Avoid at all costs."

"New to the area, read the reviews and ordered food, got home and disappointed is an understatement. Toast soggy as was the ‘Crispy beef’, chicken chow main was dry. Spoke to the take away to be told I must be wrong then hung up on. So I drove back our uneaten food to again be told I was wrong and it’s okay, I asked for a refund but was happy to pay for the food I did eat, to which they offered me a credit note. A waste really as I wouldn’t waste my time. Have never been told that my taste is incorrect!"

"Wow! We are on holiday from Wales and I must say, without a doubt, this is the best Chinese food I have ever had. We ordered chicken chow mein, egg fried rice, extra hot chicken curry, chips, curry sauce, and BBQ spare ribs. The customer service was impressive and everything was delivered as promised. We even paid via PayPal, so convenient! We are truly impressed and highly recommend Mei Wah. The only suggestions I have are: 1) chips don't reheat well, 2) I couldn't finish it all because it was so delicious, and 3) thank you for delivering this amazing meal. Mei Wah saved our evening after a rough journey due to the weather. Thank you again!"

"Called here on the off chance whilst on a family visit to Edinburgh. Although they were unable to accommodate us straight away, they suggested we return in 45 mins. True to their word a table was available and it was most definitely worth the wait! Food was delicious, service was polite and efficient. Having eaten in a lot of average restaurants that really could and should do better, this place is a welcome affirmation that some places really can be very good at what they do. Eat here if you can. PS Don’t go for a drink at the pub across the road if you find yourself waiting for a table. £24 for two glasses of red wine that were nothing special (you can buy it for £5 a bottle in Tesco and €3 a bottle in Italy) is daylight robbery."

"My wife and I called in for a snack lunch yesterday before a theatre matinee visit but were disappointed for a variety of reasons.Firstly,the young waitress who took our order had absolutely no customer rapport and looked like she would like to be anywhere else but working in the cafe.Secondly,the tuna sandwich was poor value for money at £6.75.Thin white bread and not much filling.My wife commented how poor the Americans coffee was and in a glass cup!!!Thirdly,the entrance area to the left was cluttered with various untidy bits and pieces .This gave a bad impression. I have been to visit the cafe many times in the past.It used to be my favourite cafe in York.Sadly,not any more.On a plus point the other young waitress was very pleasant. The owners need to get their act together.Such a shame that it has gone downhill since previous visits..I do understand the problems that the pandemic caused but just a few changes would make a massive difference and bring back this cafe to its previous standards.Perhaps cafes need someone like Alex Polizzi.Now there’s a good idea for a new series The Cafe Inspector!!"

"Our recent dining experience at this restaurant was not the best. The food was average and lacked flavor. We had to repeatedly ask for cutlery, and the atmosphere was lacking as the place felt outdated and cold. The noise level was high, making it difficult to enjoy our meal. Unfortunately, our disappointment grew when we found a small fly in our water glass. Despite voicing our concerns to the staff, we were met with a negative and unhelpful attitude, with the front desk employee threatening to call the police when we expressed reluctance to pay the full bill. In the end, we paid over £60 for a meal we did not fully enjoy. We will not be returning to this restaurant."

"We phoned to order for a collection and advised what meal we wanted by both the number on the menu and the name of the item. The item was a vegetarian ‘chicken’ curry. The person on the phone was clearly a young boy and was not paying attention at all. As it was a veggie meal I made sure to mention it twice for this reason. Upon eating this I realised it was not in fact vegetarian fake chicken but real chicken. As a vegetarian of over 10 year this was honestly awful for me. I called back and advised that I had been given the wrong order. His response was “that’s what you ordered”. Not sure why a wee boy thinks it was acceptable to speak to customers like this, or why his first reaction was to be super defensive.. he eventually told me he would “get his mum” and I spoke to the owner who was very apologetic and offered to replace the meal. When we got the proper meal in the end it was nice, but the experience of ordering wasn’t great and I wouldn’t trust ordering from here in future so, for that reason, won’t be back."

"Well I went off the latest recommendation that the chow mein was the best but it's not. I went just after opening and ordered king prawn Chow mein. It was ready quickly which is good but there are improvements to be made in the dish, the prawns were either from last night or very overcooked and the bean shoots are low quality. The noodles and onions were nice. The server was welcoming and talkative. Overall the meal was OK but still disappointing thinking I was on to a winner."
