"Banyan on the Thames is a nomenclatural inexactitude because the banyan tree is an inhabitant of the Indian subcontinent, rather than being passed off as a floating ficus on the Thames. Belonging as it does to the fig family, the original banyan drops spectacular aerial roots from its branches to the ground beneath its immense verdant canopy, producing a most unique treat for the eyes. The name of this tree has been appropriated by the Raphael on the Left Bank hotel in London for its restaurant. Maybe it aptly symbolises the roots of the restaurant being in the subcontinent. What strikes one about the place on first sight is someone's apparent obsession with the Medusa, signifying the Versace brand, which appears on every table top and virtually all over. The second striking feature is the artificial grass laid out both indoors and outside in the so called “garden” where there is a profusion of fake flowers, creepers and shrubs. It looks tacky and creepy and screams fake. The atmosphere in the so called garden, was not helped by the music played at decibels that are designed to hurt the ear drums. Food was fair to middling in quality, taste and presentation. The standard of service was reasonable. On the other hand, the location is magical. You can spend quite a while looking out through the large glass windows as the world goes by. The Thames flows quietly, more water under Battersea bridge, while you are people watching. And if you are feeling energetic, one has the opportunity of course to refresh oneself by striding along the Thames in the company of others who may be ambling, jogging and strolling. In conclusion, it’s really nothing to write home about"

"I used to be a loyal patron, but I was quite disappointed when I paid £9 for a rice dish that only had 2 prawns. It felt like I could have easily prepared it at home for much less. I mentioned my concerns when I ordered 3 dishes, specifically asking for a decent amount of prawns, and I was assured they would meet my request. Unfortunately, they didn 't follow through on their promise. My daughters and I used to frequent this place, but this experience has led us to reconsider our choice. Please consider improving the quality and quantity of your dishes. Please take this feedback into account for future improvements RESPONSE TO YOUR REPLY!!!!!!!!!!!!! I understand your concern, and I appreciate your apology for not meeting the expected standard in your prawn dishes. It 's reassuring to know that your prawn dishes should include 4 king prawns, and it may have been an unintentional mistake. However, I won 't email you to resolve this issue. I 've experienced this problem multiple times, with the most recent occurrence just a few days ago when my daughter and I ordered the same dish, and the prawns were once again insufficient. While one mistake can be forgiven, a total of 5 incorrect dishes within a week suggests a recurring issue. We value our hard-earned money just as much as you do, and we hope for better experiences in the future. This experience has left us with no choice but to say, NEVER AGAIN."

"6 weeks ago we gave this restaurant a 5+star rating. It was the best food we'd had in a Southampton restaurant. Fast forward to Father's Day and we could barely stand the hideous dishes put in front of us. We asked the waiter if the chef had changed but she was new so had no idea. The bad: The tempura prawns were poorly battered overcooked lumps of something, definitely not tempura. The noodle dish was tasteless and lacked ingredients, the rice dish was okay but lacked ingredients and had to be seasoned, the crispy beef was a lump of gooey mess on a plate and definitely not the superb crispy beef we'd been introduced to previously. The Spring Rolls were undercooked doughy chews with a hint of veg inside and a revolting dipping sauce that probably should've been cooked and none of us could stand. DimT have you actually tasted that sauce? The good: 2 of the 3 dim sum dishes were tasty. But you can't really mess up a steamed dim sum then. The staff are always great! If you going to pay higher than normal prices in a restaurant, then the food has to be good. Would we go back to DimT? Not in a hurry and if we did, we'd refuse any dish that comes out inedible again. This is necessary to teach the cooks (can't call them chefs in this instance), what is acceptable and what isn't. We may go back because we know DimT has a formidable award winning chef hidden in the cupboard somewhere and we'd really like to taste their food again. One last chance one day, maybe."

"We love PPA and have been coming here as a family for a couple of years, since moving to Winchester. It has been a real shame that lockdown has prevented them from operating as usual it was great to go back tonight for a treat, just the two of us. The front of house greeting and service was superb, and we really felt welcomed. Drinks and food orders were taken quickly, and the waiter returned to check that the order received by the kitchen was correct (far better than risking getting it wrong). Wine was ice cold and served properly. Starters were very nice, although in our gluttony we ordered too much the Thai ribs are melt in the mouth tender meat, and the size of a small steak. Partner's lemongrass fish skewers were likewise lovely. We also ordered the tempura vegetables, which were divinely crispy and tasty and I ate too many...... My main course of coconut/cashew crusted chicken on top of mango salad was lovely, the crunch was great against the sharp fruity salad. Partner had sea bass loved it. Far too full to consider dessert but that was our fault entirely. I have no hesitation in recommending this excellent restaurant the fact that the waiter looked concerned at my not competely cleared plate (which was due to my aforementioned gluttony) and asked if everything had been OK just exemplifies how much the team cares about their customers. There was a kind, understanding smile offered when we pointed out we were completely stuffed, though! Tiny point to conform (I think) with govt regs re: COVID 19 the ceiling fans/air con were on full blast and it was freezing cold. Management sorted it out quickly by turning it down when we pointed out the temperature issue take a cardigan though. A really great restaurant with a really great manager and whole team. Such a pleasure to eat at PPA we will be back."
