"Visited Sunday 25th 5.15pm. Was told there was some roast chicken left which I made the mistake of ordering! It arrived looking very unappetising I should really have sent it back but didn't. I asked for more gravy was brought a tiny jug, the vegetables apart from the red cabbage were unidentifiable looked as if they had been cooked a while before reheated how many times I wonder? I have to say the chicken was delicious, not a complete waste of money then!! We had previously stopped going to The Black Swan after the “refurbishment” because it had really gone downhill but then went for a Christmas celebration with our club were pleasantly surprised everything was great. This was due to Ryan being there to supervise who had, he told us been brought in to sort things out . He certainly did so then but unfortunately standards seem to have slipped again. I notice on all the reviews I’ve just read on all the complaints W Hall, manager of Black Swan thanks people for their comments says he will take them on board!! Clearly he hasn’t is just letting the reputation of this once lovely place slide lower lower. The only way you can save this situation is to bring Ryan back keep him there even then get a mystery diner to go in from time to time."

"it was my first time to visit the portsmouth arms, it was a visit with the family, and good the experience that the eating was amazing it was nice pub food with a little bit extra and worth every penny, the staff were very polite and helpful and the pub had a nice atmosphere that many places lacked in the last months and a great thank you to sarah c for their great service. they would recommend the portsmouth arms to anyone who thinks about going there either for a drink or eating."

"A pleasant restaurant with good ambience. Sunday roast excellent as was chicken and ham pie. Service patchy. Had long wait for a drink and dessert. Absolutely tiny portion of treacle tart. Literally 3 mouthfuls for over £5. Not worth wait or price."

"I had always heard good things about the Monmouth Ash and before recently I had only been for a casual drink which was very pleasant. However, Sunday 15th Oct I had the beef roast and it wasn't at all tasty; the Yorkshire pudding was stale and tasted as though it had been at the bottom of a freezer for a long time. The vegetables (especially leeks) were very crunchy to the point where they seemed raw I'm usually very fond of crunchy vegetables. The potatoes were just round balls of oil with very little potato inside. The meat was chewy and tasteless. I wouldn't be so disappointed if the restaurant were busy however it wasn't."

"We enjoyed our Sunday lunch at this restaurant, which was delicious and well-priced. However, one member of our group ordered the treacle sponge pudding and was not satisfied with it. She found it to be dry and lacking in syrup. When she requested more syrup, it was served in a small pot that was very hot to the touch and difficult to handle. Unfortunately, she described the overall experience with the pudding as "dreadful", which was disappointing considering the rest of the meal was enjoyable."

"My friend and I had a lovely evening and meal there. We were informed during the evening that the pub was closing for a few months for refurbishment, all we can say is that we chose the World's End because of the way it is at the moment so please don't take away the lovely atmosphere that it has at the moment, we did consider going to the Beefeater at Crossbush but looking at the website photos and reading the reviews which were poor we decided that it looked rather plain und unwelcoming."
