"We enjoyed a wonderful 6 course tasting menu at The Olive Tree, Bath on the evening of my 50th Birthday at the end of August. Each course was presented beautifully and by friendly staff it was not at all stuffy but appropriate and welcoming to a mixed clientele. The flavours in each dish were exquisite and we were delighted to be introduced to a 'Nutritional Yeast ' sauce this was just divine though we couldn 't help but think it could do with a catchier name (not the restaurant 's fault of course! . The only negative comment I could make would be that the cutlery didn 't quite fit with the attention to detail paid to everything else. The decor and surroundings, the professionalism and friendlilness of the staff, the glassware and dinnerware were all elegant and just perfect, but the lightweight cutlery did not seem befitting of the rest of the experience. I would like to recommend as politely as possible, a visit to Robert Welch or their closest distributor! Overall, we had a very lovely evening and hope we will have opportunity to return some day... "Really disappointed with the food, I've been to the grill and previously the steak house rotisserie many times and to be honest I noticed a drop in the quality of the food when they combined but nothing like this experience. Literally within 5 minuets of ordering my food had arrived (before my drinks! The potatoes were cold and it seemed like the food had been sitting about for a while. Really disappointed as this used to be one of my go to's in London."

"I booked this restaurant because the information on the website indicated that they were tasting dishes so I was looking forward to trying a variety of dishes. I was therefore surprised to be presented with a menu which just showed three courses, no tasting dishes and no suggestion of alternative pizza bases which had sounded exciting. Despite the disappointment, we ordered starters and main courses. The starters (chicken and venison balls) were both very good. The restaurant was busy and with only one poor waitress trying to serve food and make cocktails, slow. I had the cod which was lovely but I’d advise against the side of carrots- just a plain plate of steamed veg would have accompanied it nicely rather than lots of cheese with the carrots. The beef that my husband had was tough and cold since it had been waiting for some time for the rest of our order. I ordered syllabub for dessert which just had too much gelatine in it and, other than the lemon curd, amaretto topping, didn’t really taste of anything. I see that the restaurant has now updated its website to remove the tasting menu- shame that didn’t happen before we visited."

"This is my absolute favourite place to dine ever! The food is exquisite but what really shone for me was the outstanding service, all the waiters were warm, welcoming, gave great eye contact and they actually listened. I never receive such great service than at Harrods. Thank you for making my dinner so special."

"Upon our arrival, we found that although the lights were on, the door was closed. Our reservation was for 7:30 pm on a Thursday evening. Despite hearing the telephone ring inside, no one answered when we called the restaurant. Unfortunately, we had to leave and find another place to dine, as this was a special occasion for us. It is disappointing that this restaurant is listed on OpenTable when they are not available for service."

"Excellent food, unfortunately very loud background music which significantly disrupted our conversation at the table and despite asking, was only slightly lowered. Additionally, predominantly only English was spoken, which is familiar to us, but in a restaurant in Germany at this price point, we would expect something different."
