"We enjoyed a wonderful 6 course tasting menu at The Olive Tree, Bath on the evening of my 50th Birthday at the end of August. Each course was presented beautifully and by friendly staff it was not at all stuffy but appropriate and welcoming to a mixed clientele. The flavours in each dish were exquisite and we were delighted to be introduced to a 'Nutritional Yeast ' sauce this was just divine though we couldn 't help but think it could do with a catchier name (not the restaurant 's fault of course! . The only negative comment I could make would be that the cutlery didn 't quite fit with the attention to detail paid to everything else. The decor and surroundings, the professionalism and friendlilness of the staff, the glassware and dinnerware were all elegant and just perfect, but the lightweight cutlery did not seem befitting of the rest of the experience. I would like to recommend as politely as possible, a visit to Robert Welch or their closest distributor! Overall, we had a very lovely evening and hope we will have opportunity to return some day... We had dinner in a large group and were in a private room. We had two tasting menu options and I chose the vegetarian menu as there were some proteins I wasn’t feeling adventurous enough to try. It was amazing what could be made out of a vegetarian menu. Delicious squash, spelt, ravioli and a delicious raspberry desert. The service was great and we had only short waits in between courses. Overall, a delicious and exquisite treat to have dinner here! Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes: Vegetarian View menu

We came here for a milestone birthday and it did not disappoint. It started with a wonderful experience in the bar with the very knowledgeable and friendly bartender. The liquors in the bar are all very unique and different from what you usually see, in a good way! We then moved downstairs and had the six course tasting menu with wine pairings which was spectacular. The service was excellent and so was the atmosphere. I cannot recommend this experience enough: sophisticated yet friendly and relaxed, a very beautiful environment and delicious. Worth every penny!!! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Overall an enjoyable meal. Some excellent dishes and some less impressive courses but certainly no 'duds ' and a few (e.g. the chocolate desert and the sweetbreads) stood out for me. The wine pairing was very good but I believe the person serving us wine for most of the meal must have been standing in because the South African man who served the last three wine courses was vastly more knowledgeable. It was nice to meet the young chefs who had prepared each course and some were more charming than others but to me this novel approach worked well. This is an excellent restaurant. It has a Michelin star which is well deserved. They only do a tasting menu but you can choose to have either 6 or 4 of the 9 courses so... We had the 6 course and it was delightful and there was plenty to eat you won't be hungry. Each course was beautifully presented and delicious. The service was friendly and not at all stuffy, the food is brought to the table by the chefs so they can explain it to you in as much detail as you could wish. We had the wine flight with the meal which was great fun each glass chosen to go well with its accompanying dish Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £100+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 View menu

Very convincing cooking, a sure Michelin star, definitely with ambition for the top, some courses such as the beans or the lobster were stronger than 1 star, the desserts were aromatically exciting and perfectly balanced. Never seen tonka beans so skilfully dosed, perfect parfait, great idea with the raspberries. Even in 2-3 stars you rarely get this level. We ordered a dessert, it was that good. Lots of open, exciting wines where you can feel the passion of the sommelier. Great dedicated and friendly service. The ambience was well done, perhaps a bit too bright. Something should only be done about the acoustics, it is far too loud and you can hear the conversations of the other guests too c...

Shall I compare thee to a summers day or restaurant in this case. This restaurant has surpassed any dining experience I have had before. There is a six course or nine course tasting menu or a smaller four course which we went for. We also chose to have the wine tasting experience with a sample of high quality wine to complement each course. We are so glad we chose to do this. The waiting staff bring over the wine and tell you all about it. Different chefs come out and tell you where the food has been sourced and answer any questions you might have. Each dish was an explosion of amazing tastes. I feel I have been ruined for anything less. The Lobster was my favourite. My husbands favourite di...
