"This pub/restaurant has a nice appearance and the staff are very friendly. However, the food was a letdown. The starter (Brie in Breadcrumbs) was small for the price of £6.95 and the fish and chips were barely edible. The batter on the fish was almost burnt and the chips seemed to be store-bought. They didn't have any vinegar available and it took nearly an hour for the main course to arrive. I expressed my dissatisfaction and they removed the cost of the main course from the bill. Overall, it was a disappointing evening."

"Order and wait for an hour. Literally waited for a long long time (almost an hour) we arrived and order at around 7. And received the food at around 8. The food was delicious though. Really hot and good. May be they prepared it from the scratch after we ordered. The service can be better. It has to be. There were 2 staffs serving an almost full restaurant which had a min of 15 tables full or even more. Good for vegans and vegetarians. The staff forgot one item in the order but offered a refund. If not for the service it can get a 4star and if not for the quantity it can get a 5 star. Overall food was good. Service needs to be improved Toilets are ok. Price not too expensive but the quantity was slightly less for that price. Ambience was excellent."

"hi, that was our first, but last but not least visited visit, really enjoyed us. eating was excellent and so were the cocktails, the staff was very helpful. have been looking forward to our visit for some time and was not disappointed, was not as straight as we thought, but managed at the end. it was quiet when we were, but I could imagine that it has a great atmosphere when it is busy. managed to get a few pieces and clothing and they have a good choice for woman as well as the one additional bonus for my wife lol. deffo thought about friends. "We went for a bottomless brunch on a Saturday and had a great experience. The food and drinks were delicious, but what really made our visit special was the exceptional service from Rachel and Becky. They were polite, super friendly, and helped create a fantastic atmosphere. The added bonus of mirror balls was a fun touch! Overall, we would highly recommend this place. Food, service, and atmosphere all receive top marks from us. We particularly enjoyed the English Breakfast dish."

"The food at this restaurant was very typical of a mainstream pub menu, with options that would appeal to a wide range of people. The customer service was excellent, and our group celebrating a birthday was well taken care of by a very attentive host. It was a pleasant evening overall. The vegetarian options included the Vegan Beyond Burger. The price per person was between £10-£20. The food was rated a 3, the service a 5, and the atmosphere a 4. "Great place to come and look at the view as it is 5*. The view of Holy Isle cannot be surpassed by the other bars as this is possibly the closest you'll get. Chairs are comfortable apart from the ones near the fire as too hot and the other comfy ones which are unfortunately positioned between the Gents and the disabled toilets and storage area, providing an interesting array of smells. We did not eat here, so we could not judge the food, but we did buy a bottle of Pinot Grigio, which was in our eyes (which were watering) a rather highly priced £27."

"My husband is a steak lover and I’m a vegetarian with coeliac and I was really pleased seeing an allergens menu with plenty of options! We visited on a Monday which had a bring your own wine deal. Our waitress Daniela was incredible with noting allergens and we were given complimentary bread to begin; some of the softest and tastiest GF bread I’ve ever had. For mains I had a beyond burger which was great however the bun was a little cold and smaller than the burger which kept slipping out. I also had the creamed spinach was excellent! For dessert I got the creme brûlée which was served in a martini glass and my husband got the warm pecan pie which he absolutely loved. Overall I had a fantastic experience here; the service was brilliant, food was great and the setting and atmosphere was perfect for a date night."

"I easily booked a breakfast online and found the staff to be helpful and friendly. We were informed that there would be a 10-minute wait for the buffet to be refilled, but the service was slow. We had to wait for eggs and mushrooms to be replenished while other parts of our breakfast grew cold. Additionally, a staff member was filling takeaway orders at the same counter, prioritizing them over the customers waiting at the buffet. Despite these issues, a staff member kindly refilled my water bottles before my journey home, which was greatly appreciated. She was a standout member of your team."

"we have begun to come here as we liked the earlier pub that the owners had. we were not disappointed. we both had the cable fillet, chips and inherited Friday special. followed by passion cheesecake for me and sticky toffee pudding with salted caramel ice cream...cream for my man. we sat in the conservatory, which is another bonus. it was nice to pick up with vicky who served us in the previous pub. also the faithful program is good and the reward of goods for birthdays etc. beautiful atmosphere and good eating."

"We arrived on a very rainy and windy November evening (Monday) to a warm welcome from the delightful staff. At that time, before 6 PM, we were the only customers. Our drinks were served with friendly conversation, followed quickly by a generous portion of chicken liver pâté and a comforting tomato and pepper soup. Shortly after, my husband enjoyed a steak and ale pie, while I savored what was arguably the best minted lamb shank I have ever had (other than my own, of course!). The dish came with lovely mashed potatoes and vegetables. Unfortunately, we didn’t have room for dessert. An added bonus was that my Blue Light card was graciously accepted. Well done to the team—we will definitely recommend this place!"

"My disabled wife and I, oh yes and our cat, having been driving our motorhome for a few hours just happened across the lovely looking place, with a large flat car park. We pulled in on spec for a drink and as us motorhomers do, ask about staying overnight. We fully understand and respect either a yes or no. I opened the do of our van, for some unknown reason our cat decided she would jump out first, something she has never done before, and without hesitation headed straight into the bramble bushes next to where we had parked. This cat as any animal lover can understand is our soul mate. Straight away we tried to call, offer treats etc, but not a sound or sight. Anyway I wandered over to the bar area leaving my wife by the vehicle calling the cat. Firstly I bought two drinks, then asked the chap behind the bar about staying overnight. No came straight back, it's an insurance thing. Fair enough, oh but our cat has just gone missing so we may be here a while. Back to the van with the drinks, by now my tearful wife was getting more distressed. So I, we wandered back and forth, around this field area calling, shaking treats, still nothing. One or two walkers were very helpful in taking our number incase they saw her, suggested reporting it to the local vet as she is chipped, which we did. My wife's mantra had become we're not going anywhere without her. Good hour later, I went back into the bar to buy another drink. Different person said if it was up to them, we could stay, obviously them knowing the cat was still missing. Back to the van. So I began walking further afield, leaving my wife at the van. I was gone a good hour when my wife phoned to say the cat had returned. Overjoyed. Back to the van. Now here's the reason for the review. Whilst I'd been away, a person presumably the landlord had spoken to my wife and threatened that as we had been in the car park for more than 3 hours the pubs open all day) he would be calling the police and get us clamped unless we moved within the next half hour. My wife was in tears. I will say fortunately for him the cat returned, because otherwise he could have started ww3 so far as I'm concerned, but we we would have stayed put. Thank you The Sun ,Lydiard for your understanding and compassion. Whether or not this review puts any of your prospective new customers off, I don't care. WE WON'T BE BACK"

"We turned up mid afternoon on a Saturday. We stood by the sign ‘Please wait to be seated’ The place was about 1/3rd full so not really busy. There were a lot of staff standing around chatting to each other and occasionally attending to a customer. We we waited and waited in fact over 15 minutes before some chap bothered to come up to us by which time my partner said they don’t deserve our money or business let’s go. I spoke to the member of staff and told him how poor it is and how I’m not going to spend my money with you people when you cannot be bothered to show that you want me as a customer and they couldn’t care less. Funny how this branch has today been identified for closure and good job too the staff don’t deserve to work in hospitality because they have no customer skills and couldn’t care less and long as they get paid we’ll no more because you’re out of a job and good riddance I say."

"Loved this place just ticks all the boxes! Great decor, relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, sensible prices, and OMG what a choice! One of our party is coeliac and this place was highly recommended I see why! The choice of GF was amazing the menu was pretty much the same as non GF. We had booked for Saturday, but after a busy Friday, we dropped in thinking if it wasn't good, we would go elsewhere on Saturday instead. Needless to say, we didn't cancel and ate here twice. Tapas was three for £12 and reasonable portions we tried the honey feta delicious, crispy crispy arancini, bbq chicken wings, patatas bravas, grain bowl great hummus , squid rings, and our fave bang bang cauli. The truffle chicken was mouth wateringly tasty. The burgers were good and lots of additional sides to choose from something for everyone. We particularly enjoyed the soft drinks options sherbet lemonade, a peachy one, a watermelon one sooo much nicer than coke or sprite, great for designated drivers. Personally I was a little disappointed at the dessert choices white choc not a thing! cheesecake, brownie, ice cream sundae and churros although the brownie and the churros were good! I just like a fruity or light option. And to be really nit picky, the mac n cheese was literally mac n cheese no creamy sauce. Certainly wouldn't stop us from coming again on our next trip to N'ton. Now please open a branch in Norwich!"

"Stopped by here with my Veggie friend because she wanted to convince me of the delights of vegetarian foods. lately I've found vegetarian food to be more than passable (in more than one sense) and I've eaten a fair bit of it of late. this option turned out to be a good shout because we had some rather nice sweet potato fries, some onion rings and a Seitan burger which was some mysterious patty with sundry veg and condiments. she added additional avocado which was a paid option, but the chef forgot to add it to the burger. when this was pointed out, he immediately offered it separately as well as an additional portion of onion rings for free. the fellas running the stall were friendly the burger was actually quite nice, the patty had a nice almost meaty texture with a flavour i could not place but did rather enjoy. and all the other bits and bobs combined to make a rather tasty munch. not bad for a vegetarian option, i would eat it again and it was no more pricey than your standard gourmet burger. as a confessed carnivore i can easily say if you're with a herbivorous friend and they want to graze on some foliage and your attendance is required, then you could pick worse places than this stall."

Two other couples entered after us and were immediately served at table . My husband went to bar to ask what was happening and how long we been waiting ! It wasn’t busy!! We were having a discussion at our table when server came and said wouldn’t serve us . We left not happy asked for his name wouldn’t give it us ! We will not be returning or recommending this pub poor poor poor????????"

"Waited too long for food, our order was forgotten. When the breakfast arrived the bacon was overdone, the toast was tough to chew and the sausage was oily. The waitress acknowledged our wait, apologised and gave us a complimentary drink. Can't fault the waitresses just the chef needs to stop dishing up overcooked bacon. The food was so so considering the price, better off going to a cheaper cafe or a Toby for your breakfast."

"I was a regular lounger in the shirley filiale, and I must admit that the portswood lounge is even better. the place is much bigger and the atmosphere is always relaxed, they are dog friendly, which is a great bonus, the prices are good and the eating is absolutely excellent. the service is also very friendly and the experience of ordering through the website/app is seamless."
