"I was pleasantly surprised by this cocktail bar chain: the day I had was probably one of the most beautiful restaurants that I ever had! and it was also a really good price without jumping to the portion size. there was only 1 vegan dessert option: a brownie cherry cheese cake that was not only delicious, but they get 2 fairly large slices for just £2.99! definitely recommend. service was also really fast the employees were about what was vegan or not, for example the fries are not (what a little frustrating) because they are not cooked in separate frits. the only big farewell is that the beverage menu does not say whether the dinge are vegan or not, which is not ideal when it is top selling point it cocktails."

"Things didn't get off to a great start when we arrived there was no one on reception. A member of staff then came to reception and faffed about a bit, ignoring us. That person went away and another came over looking a bit flustered. Then the maitre d arrived. We were a bit early (about 19 15 for a 19 30 booking) so I asked if this was ok, which it was, although it felt a bit like he was doing us a favour (the restaurant was about 35% full at that time). He showed us to our table (a bit out of the way, around a corner but fine). The menus gave a poor impression very tired looking with stains on them (ditto the food menu in the room). Not a good look at all. After allowing what would be a reasonable time for the waiter to come, I started the old hand half up and down, waving to try to attract attention to the waiters but to no avail. After another few minutes, I got up and went to the reception, where the maitre d was chatting to someone. As i stood there, he continued his conversation, finishing it off before acknowledging me and asking if I was ok. i said not really as we were being ignored and could we get some service please. Of course. Back to our table. Shortly after that, a waitress appeared and said in a clipped voice (verging on the aggressive) You want service . I said that yes, we did. What do you want . I resisted the temptation to walk out and politely defused the situation but the tone was set. I ordered a gin and tonic, which came in a surprisingly small glass given the current vogue for fishbowl type glasses. Felt quite disappointing. We ordered bread and olives and the scallops to start followed by the sharing steak and a bottle of Pomerol. Things were looking up as the scallops were excellent, the bread and olives weren't bad and the wine was excellent. The couple on the next table then complained about the length of time their dessert was taking to come."

"on the first visit to eat lunch, on the second and evening on the third evening. all the cases were great, the atmosphere beautiful and the eating was a real joy, although £70 for lunch a little on the high side. Great variety on the menu and all the workers were pleasant and attentively bear understood, they have slits in the evening as it seems to be too busy, but not even felt we hurried. the early evening meal is our recommended and a walk down to the big houses near the medical center after many wals to observe!"

"Highly recommend. Myself, wife, and toddler when there for a lunch. Large potions and really good food, we especially like the chips, had to order some more. The place has as wonderful pitch patch decor. A mix of classical paintings and cottage core. We thought a young child might cause problems for other guests and staff, but I can't praise them enough for being accommodating and helpful. Special kudos to Lee (I hope I remembered the name correctly) who was especially helpful. Big tips well deserved."

"Had a beautiful meal here today with parents. Lovely pub, light and airy with mirrors on walls that reflect light, however remaining cosy with log fires. I'm vegetarian and enjoyed a fantastic mushroom and ale pie with vegan chips and gravy. Garden peas were cooked just right, lovely and sweet. Pie was packed and tasted amazing. This was from the lunch menu for under £10. Staff very friendly, served by a lovely waitress, Kirsty who was very attentive and helpful. Can't wait to go back and try something else from the menu."

"This wonderful place could not be anymore accommodating to us when we stayed for the weekend with our dog. We arrived quiet late on the Friday evening and were met by warm friendly staff that couldn’t do enough for us. We checked in to a...great family room that was superbly clean and comfortable with a huge en-suite bathroom with a bath as big as a pool. After dropping our bags off we headed downstairs to the main bar where a table had been set for us so we could have an evening meal. The food exceeded all of our expectations and was cooked fresh for us. After our meal we were asked what time we would like breakfast to suit us. When back in our room we relaxed on a separate sofa to watch a bit of tv which was perfect compared to just lying on a bed. At breakfast the next morning we were presented with a menu so we could choose exactly what we would like instead of having a plate full of stuff we don’t like. Again the food was cooked to order and very fresh. We even got extra toast when we asked. The staff could not be more helpful and friendly. I would recommend anyone looking at staying here or even just going for a meal to do so as it’s definitely a very friendly and welcoming place. Thank you to the owners for our stay and we will be back again to enjoy your wonderful gem of a place"

"My disabled wife and I, oh yes and our cat, having been driving our motorhome for a few hours just happened across the lovely looking place, with a large flat car park. We pulled in on spec for a drink and as us motorhomers do, ask about staying overnight. We fully understand and respect either a yes or no. I opened the do of our van, for some unknown reason our cat decided she would jump out first, something she has never done before, and without hesitation headed straight into the bramble bushes next to where we had parked. This cat as any animal lover can understand is our soul mate. Straight away we tried to call, offer treats etc, but not a sound or sight. Anyway I wandered over to the bar area leaving my wife by the vehicle calling the cat. Firstly I bought two drinks, then asked the chap behind the bar about staying overnight. No came straight back, it's an insurance thing. Fair enough, oh but our cat has just gone missing so we may be here a while. Back to the van with the drinks, by now my tearful wife was getting more distressed. So I, we wandered back and forth, around this field area calling, shaking treats, still nothing. One or two walkers were very helpful in taking our number incase they saw her, suggested reporting it to the local vet as she is chipped, which we did. My wife's mantra had become we're not going anywhere without her. Good hour later, I went back into the bar to buy another drink. Different person said if it was up to them, we could stay, obviously them knowing the cat was still missing. Back to the van. So I began walking further afield, leaving my wife at the van. I was gone a good hour when my wife phoned to say the cat had returned. Overjoyed. Back to the van. Now here's the reason for the review. Whilst I'd been away, a person presumably the landlord had spoken to my wife and threatened that as we had been in the car park for more than 3 hours the pubs open all day) he would be calling the police and get us clamped unless we moved within the next half hour. My wife was in tears. I will say fortunately for him the cat returned, because otherwise he could have started ww3 so far as I'm concerned, but we we would have stayed put. Thank you The Sun ,Lydiard for your understanding and compassion. Whether or not this review puts any of your prospective new customers off, I don't care. WE WON'T BE BACK"

"I visited with a big group, containing some vegans and veggies no one struggled to find something tasty they loved! It was really great to find they actually have a big, separate 100% vegan menu rather than having to waste time trying to work out what vegans/veggies can eat on the main menu. There are lots of different things to choose from, and even some of the meat eaters opted for dishes on the vegan menu because they sounded so yummy! The jackfruit burger was a big hit. I also really recommend the vegan Patatas Bravas. They also have a version of these on the main menu, so make sure you state ‘vegan’ so you get the vegan mayo and not standard! Being a chain place, it’s obviously not gourmet food, however it’s a pretty generous offering for vegans and veggies, and is definitely one of the chain places I will go to first for vegan options when I’m in town!! "When we arrived to eat at 2:pm there were hardly any customers sitting at the tables, we ourselves along with another two customers were told there was no food left!! The lady at the door said they had run out of food as it had been busy all morning, WTF? How can you run out of food pasta, spaghetti, bread, tomatoes etc, at 2:pm and how long would it take for someone to go to the supermarket and get some more? Bluewater shopping centre is open until 9:pm on a Saturday... Had they run low on beverages too? We have never known anything like it and are not surprised that most outlets have shut down. It is absolutely ridiculous and Mr Carluccio himself would be turning in his grave at the fact this place turns it's customers away due to a lack of food?......"

"they had the beyond burger and sausage, or cauliflower curry, or chili. I don't like fake meats and had no lust on curry, so the chili had. the plate contained what like half a package of microshaft Mexican rice (always still in lump) 5 or 6 tortilla chips (ungewurt) and a small, semi-filled top of bean-Chali, which tasted from preservatives, instead of freshly cooked. imo it wasn't full. I ate with 2 omnis and I felt depressed because there were so many other places to eat that looked nice. please don't eat them here unless they're on a really tight budget and don't want pudding because there's no one!"

"A variety of burgers and hotdogs, all vegan. Also have sides like chips and nuggets etc, vegan milkshakes and brownies. I had the beyond meat burger, and it was DELICIOUS. My sister, who isn't a vegan had one too and she couldn't believe how nice it was. The lady who ran the market stall was very enthusiastic about veganism and was lovely to see her getting the public engaged and trying the samples"

"This place has always been friendly and welcoming when I have arrived to eat here. Unfortunately I didn 't even know that they had a vegan menu until I saw it mentioned on another website- you have to ask for one specifically when the greeter seats you. There isn 't a huge choice of options- 2 main courses- but, compared to other places in the area, 2 options is wonderful. I had the mushroom bruschetta and the falafels to start followed by the burger. It was delicious. All the food was perfectly hot and very tasty- plus the sherbet lemonade is fantastic and sharp. My partner also said that his non-veg food was very nice. The biggest downside of this place is that the restaurant area is very dimly lit. While this provides a private, intimate setting it can also make it hard to read the menu. My partner had to focus very hard with his glasses on to read everything. They also have some 'non veg*n friendly ' decor like mounted heads on the walls in the corridors. Not in the eating area though. If you are in the area and want to go somewhere that doesn 't require asking a million questions about what is in their food then this is definitely a place to check out. There is parking on the road by the place, or round the back with a very quick walk through a short ally (free Sundays and after 6pm). Edit: Added warning of animal decor"

"They don 't advertise it well (walking past or looking at the on wall specials but very pleased to find out that they offer a full vegan menu. The menu has a good selection: ciabattas, salads, tapas, curry, burger. The food seems to be all made on site (takes a little while to come, but fresh looking and tasting, and 'just made hot ' . I had the butternut squash curry and partner had burger. The falafel burger was good but basic, where as the curry had much more flavour and was very nice. They also do a few vegan cakes, we shared a choc ginger torte slice. Price was about £8 a meal and £3 a cake. Don 't expect gourmet or expensive restaurant style food, but on the whole there 's a good choice, staff were nice and the food is decent. I will go again."

"the service was slow and the price for eating was expensive for the lack of quality that was delivered! complained to the waitress and the closing of the cook and manager was the cut of meat (steak) can change depending on the season. that's wrong! we would have stayed for pudding, but the feedback was clearly not taken on board and we have starved! such a scandal to see this place, they go to the hill, as the administration has changed the hands."

"I had been out for a lovely walk in the area and whilst staying over close by one of the locals when having a coffee recommended this little place to try . So as i like to try new places why not. And i can say i wasnt disappointed. From first seeing the place from the outside it was lovely and seemed very inviting. Lovely seating area . Walking in it was tastefully decorated and modern . Areas inside seemed warm and inviting. Found a lovely little corner with my friends and decided to have a drink first while scouring the menu. Bar staff very friendly and chatty on arrival which made it seem like a very friendly place. Seemed very knowledgeable about the area and advised of other places to try . So decided on a drink and a scour of the menu. They didnt disappoint . Seemed to have a good menu choice and catered for all of our party including veggie options. Once meal arrived the food looked well presented and inviting. Smelt and tasted delicious. Staff checking if everything was ok was a nice touch too. No problems with out meal. I myself decided on Katsu Curry and it was delicious. Great portion sizes and not one complaint between us . Defo a winner in my book. Bar Manager seemed very friendly and approachable when passing asking if everything was ok. On leaving we had nothing but good reports about the place. Next day we again went back for the Sunday lunch and again not disappointed. Very friendly staff again, delicious sunday roast and a lovely cozy atmosphere to boot. This is defo going to be a new place to frequent on visits to Boweness. SO big massive shout out to this place and the team fab job ! one happy customer and i will be spreading the words to other colleagues of mine who work within the hospital and mention what a hidden gem this place is. Thanks Again Charli"

"Great mood in this small but perfectly shaped (more than just one) burger bar. The staff were friendly and seemed happy to be there. Very accommodating menu. I am gluten-free (all burgers in deceptively good gluten-free rolls) and also need my burger cooked by (they come medium as standard), and there was no problem at all! The whole food was super delicious, and the rosemary salt on the chips was a nice touch. The Minze-Limonade is also highly recommended. Will we be back? Absolutely!"

"Went in and ordered via the app, was given the option to choose for the kids meals to come out asap or with mains so ticked asap. By the time we had finishes the kids food still wasn’t here so I went up to check (there wasn’t many people in either) asked at the counter to be told by a young lady the chef is plating yours now.. as I walked away I heard the chef turn round to the girl and say “well that’s what you get for having your carvery before your kids food arrives dosent it” I did stop and was going to turn round and confront him but I didn’t want to make a scene espically infront of my children. When the kids food was brought I mentioned to the girl that o heard what he said and I’m not happy about it and that his customer service was shocking, to which she replied “yeah he’s always like that people comment about his bad service all the time. I was going to speak to the management about it but clearly after that comment they don’t care either."
