"My twin brother and I took a few days off work were we jumped the train down from Kirkby to Liverpool City Centre to visit some of the great pubs and bars our city is justifiably famous for, at the top of our list of bars and pubs to visit was Brewdog, been here many times over the years, always had a good time and so it proved on our latest visit. This is a great looking Brewdog bar,a great looking serving bar dominates the main room, wonderful decor and furnishings, neon lite features and plenty of seating options spread throughout this bar both inside and outside looking out onto onto the busy and bustling Colquitt Street. We had a study of their great beer range and in the end we both opted to have Brewdog king kölsch , these were served in excellent condition, we chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular bar while we sipped our ale 's. A big fan of this beer style, in fact on the run up to the Christmas period my twin brother and I were in Cologne for a weeks holiday which is a vibrant city on the River Rhine that we 've been visiting for close to 30 years ,this city is the home of kölsch beer brewed by so many breweries, breweries such as Pfaffgen Brauerei, Gaffel Brauerei, Dom Brauerei, Deutz Brauerei, Reissdorf Brauerei, Sion Brauerei, Sünner Brauerei, Schreckenskammer Brauerei, Muhlen Brauerei and of course Früh Brauerei who I noticed are named on the beer label ,my kölsch beer served here in Brewdog were amazing, it 's more an ale than a lager ,it 's golden, hoppy ,very light and very easy to drink ,when this kölsch is served freezing cold as in Brewdog its just an amazing brew to enjoy, its no coincidence that this bar is so popular with beers served in this good a condition by staff who are really knowledgeable about the beers they serve. We really enjoyed our beers in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to Brewdog we had a great time. Brewdog is easy to locate along Colquitt Street. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, open from midday. A wonderful craft beer bar serving an amazing range of great beers, well worth checking out if you 're in the area."

"We have been to cotes many times 9 out of 10 times it has been excellent. This was a 19:30 Sunday evening birthday booking to be fair, a glass of kir royal was given to me on arrival. We ordered our food which on the whole was excellent.....The Ribeye steak was perfectly medium rare....The Breton Chicken was delicious and, once again being served as a spatchcocked half chicken, after a brief spell of getting two legs for half a chicken!! A couple of things spoilt the almost perfect evening; The opening page of the Cotes website is a crab...guess what? No crab maison! When asked if we needed any condiments for our meal........ No vinegar.!...How can you have a restaurant without vinegar?, You can't serve chips without vinegar...... Especially when there is a Co-op supermarket 100 yards away!! The other thing I would point out was that i didn't think that gratin dauphinois potatoes, which accompanied the chicken was french for slices of undercooked potatoes in milk! because that's how it came! For some reason the atmosphere, especially from the staff was fairly cold. As though something had happen earlier. On past occasions the staff have always been talkative friendly. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but it felt as if something was wrong. There was a very large party in there, so it might have been the pressure of that. We like going to Cotes, and despite these small doubts will continue to visit. My advice to the restaurant?......iron out these small faults quickly, because the big guns....ie Wagamama, Mama Loves Spaghetti, Giggling Squid etc. are moving in!! also.......get some vinegar!! "We visited here today for our wedding anniversary meal. We’ve been regulars for special occasions for around 10 years now so it was a no brainer to visit again as the food has always been amazing. Sadly this would be our last visit. On arrival we were greeted by new faces. Turns out there’s new ownership, we obviously weren’t aware of this. We cannot fault the staff at all because they were all lovely and welcoming. Good start. Sadly the menu has changed a lot and many of our fave items were no longer on the menu. We ordered chicken empanadas for starters. They tasted the same as before but instead of using chicken breast it was now chicken mince. Not as tasty or worth the price in our opinion. For our main we both ordered fillet steak at over £30 a piece. My husbands was cooked perfectly (well done . Mine was not. I ordered medium and it arrived medium rare. Maybe even more rare as I attempted to eat it. The meat wasn’t even red in colour, it was a purple tone and it was so rare and wobbled like jelly on my plate. I ended up not being able to stomach more than 50% of it. And to top it off it had 0% flavour. Maybe the chef needs to season the meat in future. The chimichurri was spot on but my husbands peppercorn sauce was rank. It was a strange sloppy grey substance. Never before in my life have I seen grey peppercorn sauce! My husband soon regretted pouring it over his steak which then made it inedible. Ordered the garlic and parsley roasted potato side at around £5. It arrived as 3 large roasted wedges with a small amount of green sauce dribbled on the top! Bland and awful. I’m actually offended by this side in particular. The roasted red pepper however was lovely. But how hard could that one be to get right. My husband did however enjoy one part of his meal and that was the prawn starter. So well done for that one I guess. Still not enough to justify the amount of money we’d just been robbed of. We only had soft drinks with our meal so didn’t spend much on those but the total bill came in at just over £150. I can honestly say it was the biggest waste of money ever. Shocking food to say the least. In my opinion and advice to any regulars out there please steer clear. Sad to say after so many visits over the past decade, we will never return here. Any recommendations for a new steak house would be welcomed! :"
