This gastro pub has a lovely decor and the staff are friendly and very accommodating. The food is tasty, but it is on the pricey side. I ordered the plaice, which was a very small portion for the cost. We decided to share the tarte tatin and baked Alaska since they were quite expensive. However, they presented each of our plates beautifully, which was impressive.

Came here for food after being at the Sculpture Park across the road. Absolutely lovely food, staff were very friendly. Dog friendly too so had lots of doggos to pet. Sat in the outside bit in the bar section, lovely and sunny, nice little sun trap to enjoy a cold drink and some light bites in. Food drinks: Lovely food! Even if you just get some chips. Service: 5

Does the job. Good experience and very pleasant young staff. Time and experience will allow those extras to embed like not throwing bottles into the bin every few minutes, particularly when older clients with hearing aids are dining! Our room was quite spacious, featuring a large double bed and an excellent ensuite shower. The lounge area had complimentary whiskey—something we had never encountered before! There was even Sipsmith gin in the bedroom (we didn't indulge, but still, it was a nice touch). The breakfast was likely the best we've ever experienced at any hotel or B&B. They offered fantastic bread for toasting, yogurt topped with genuinely fresh fruit, excellent coffee, and the most perfectly cooked eggs florentine, accompanied by an amazing sauce. Plus, they had marmite! The service was outstanding; we felt very well taken care of throughout our stay.

Lovely venue, and it was a cold night with snow just starting, so the open fires were a cheering and welcome attraction. We visited primarily because this venue not only has a vegan menu but the vegan meals are also properly nutritious ie not just a meat or vegetarian dish and they 've taken away the meat/dairy/eggs. Very pleased with our meals, though disappointed that the one 'proper ' vegan dessert was not available (the pineapple and peach ravioli). The only alternative was vegan ice cream or sorbet not on a snowy winter 's night, thanks! One other gripe, and that is that the open fire in the restaurant was allowed to completely go out it was a really quiet night only a few tables occupi...

We decided to get a few days away. Overall we had a great stay. Our room (Crawford) based in the cottage. Lovely room with flowers growing in the window boxes. The room itself has limited space to hang your clothes, also has limited surface space. The bathroom is huge and has everything you need. The room was serviced every day, although It could do with a more substantial clean (dust in places and found things that had been left by previous guests) We booked an evening meal on the first night it was awesome, one of the best meals we've had in a while.
