"Sunday evening. We have visited the Ram Inn on several occasions during the past 2/3 years and each time we have been disappointed with the meals. Each time there is something that we have ordered from the menu that is not available. For example, one time they did not have the particular type of potatoes advertised on the menu and another time I ordered a medium/rare steak and when it arrived it was REALLY well done. There was no problem, they did do me a new steak, but by the time it arrived the other people in our party had finished their meals so I was left to finish my meal whilst they all had to wait for me But at the beginning of July we had heard that things had improved and...read more"

I visited this restaurant for the first time yesterday, November 16th, and it will also be my last. The Sunday lunch that was served was not good - a small portion and my carrots were cold. Additionally, the place was in need of a thorough cleaning.

Jaycee, this restaurant is absolutely stunning. We visit here about once a week, and twice if we're lucky enough to escape the kitchen at home. The ambiance is exquisite, the staff is very friendly, professional, and efficient, and the food is top-notch. The prices are just right.

Craig brierley. Janet must have been on a bad day and there arent many of them as far as i am concerned. staff are very helpful and friendly, food is value for money though i agree some portion sizes are perhaps a little small. i have been going at least once a month for 4 or 5 years and the service has and the food have always been really good. Try the pork trio had it one day when another of my favourites was off the menu and am now stuck on it

Disappointing. My friends and I had a meal at the Ram Inn, Cliviger last evening. We were all disappointed with our meals, mainly due to the portion sizes. We all had a different meal but none of them were filling. Two of us also then decided to try a dessert and we ordered the treacle tart. When we saw the size of these portions, at a cost of £4.45 each it was also very disappointing. Not value for money at all, which was a great shame as it looked to be a nice pub in a picturesque setting. We won't be returning. View menu

We decided to have lunch at this restaurant after looking online for a lunch menu. We were hoping for a pleasant meal, but upon arrival, we found that the menu was completely different from the one we saw online. When I asked the bartender about it, he seemed uninterested. I ended up with a small bowl of food that I could add chips to, which came in a ceramic dish that had cracks all around it. This was very unsanitary and disappointing. We were very disappointed with the experience and will not be returning. The whole meal felt like a waste of money and time. The waitress even asked if I had made the right choice.

So compelled to write an amasing review. We constantly scour the North West in search of places to eat that dont seem to have forgotten what food is all about. To the extent of the exemplary Gaucho and San Carlos (expect to pay £150 per head) in Manchester which produce michelin quality food as we are terribly fussy and passionate when it comes to food We all know what a eg. Brewers Fayer pub food tastes like etc and England should be getting tired of this drab, tastless, manufactuered rubbish. What happened to proper, real, different, cooked food that we can all rave about? Answer.... Its at The Ram Inn. I can only imagine that the bad comments on here are perhaps from discruntled...read mo...

"Myself, my girlfriend 2 others visited this place on Friday night on walking in the smell of damp and stale water was shocking, there was a manky hand written sign on the door stating that the place was due to close in November due to retirement ! When we was shown to our table the smell was shocking there was damp patches above our table and it was clear to see vents had been installed to allow air to flow along the joists however this meant the stinking air was released into the dining area. On ordering drinks we was told certain drinks where not available which was not a good start. I have to say the food was not too bad but far from the best I have had. My girlfriend and her friend went to the toilets, which had no lights, where dirty and smelt dreadful nearly causing my girlfriend to be physically sick. I went into the gents and it was the same no basic cleaning had been done in my opinion for a long time ! I personally think this place is not closing due to retirement but more down to the fact it needs a lot of money spending on it and they clearly do not want to bother, the staff member who served us was only a young girl and said she did not take food orders and she was only there to serve drinks so we had to wait to have our order taken. It is a good thing that this is closing down as it is dreadful place to sit and eat. It cost us over £100 for food and drinks and is over priced in my opinion !"
