"I checked out the menu but decided to leave. The only options were a vegan sausage roll starter and a salad. The only thing that caught my interest was a burger that could be made vegan, but I didn't like the idea of having to remove ingredients just to make it suitable for me. I heard that the Vegan menu was removed when Covid-19 hit. Overall, it was a disappointing experience at Vintage Inns."

"We arrived for our booking to be told that there was no booking made under our details at all. They did fortunately have a cancellation that they gave us, otherwise we would have been left with no where to eat on new years eve! The waitress plonked our bottle of wine down on the table, didn't even open it, let alone pour it. The food was outstanding apart from the mashed potato which was definitely powdered."

"1 1/2 hour slot to eat three course Sunday Lunch. This was fine as the food came out very quickly. Starter was Lobster and Prawn Cocktail. Nice size and tasty but a bit drowned in rose marie sauce. 2 Adult and one child roast beef was very nice. Nice Yorkshire. Good portion size and lovely well cooked tasty veggies (Cabbage, carrots and parsnips) . Meat was good also and plentiful. I always want more gravy than provided but forgot to ask when delivered to the table and the server didn't reappear as they are so busy. Only small issue is we would have had a pudding but had 15mins left to leave the table and didn't feel we could order and eat in that time period so left that out. Other wise very much enjoyed the visit and thank you for the hospitality."

"Unfortunately we picked the wrong day to go to the Lamb inn.Although our table was booked it was not ready for us.We went there for a Sunday roast we could not believe there was no beef or lamb available at 1.30 pm.Plus in the short time we were there we heard a lot of complaints from customer waiting for their meals.We left without ordering .Very disappointed."

"Lovely pub with a nice relaxing atmosphere. The Sunday Lunches are amazing. If I really had to fault it which is difficult) it would be the waiting time for both the main and dessert. Approximately 45 mins for the main course and 20 minutes for the dessert. Both well worth the wait though. Advisable to book as it was very busy. Will be returning very soon."

"The Boat Inn is a lovely venue even on a cold wet December evening in the week before christmas and looked promising when we arrived at 7:30 pm the time I had chosen when making a booking through this web site the evening before. I was surprised that I needed to register my car but this process and the fact you need to do it was clear and straight forward. We were greated in a warm and friendly way and were expected, the place was busy but not packed, we had quite a small table where staff or other quests had to squeze past making it a bit uncomfortable especially when a biger table not in the throughfare remined empty through out our stay. It soon became apparent however that all was not well when other guests were asking where their meals or drinks were. We also had to remind the 2 serving staff that we had not received our drinks 20 minutes after placing the order. Our food did take quite a while to come, especialy the main course but apart from luke warm onion rings it was most enjoyable. This seems such a shame for such a great venue as when you look at comments on this web site from 12 months ago the problems appear to be the same even down to the cold onion rings ! I would go back to the Boat Inn especially in the summer but I would hope not to experiance the same problems again."

"We were out for my birthday although the staff were friendly and the atmosphere was very relaxed, the food was not so good which is a shame as that's what we were there for!! Both my friend and I had steak, which were both fatty I could not even cut through some of mine. We mentioned it to the waiter who said he would pass it onto the chef. No apology was made and that was the end of it which in our eyes was not professional enough."

"Moved to Holmbridge 3 years ago from Essex but have stayed at the Foxglove over the past 10+ years when visiting our daughter who went to Huddersfield University and is now teaching music at Holmfirth High School. If anyone visiting Huddersfield or the surrounding areas we would recommend not only the Foxglove as somewhere to stay overnight at in their great accommodation rooms but also to eat at in the evenings. Service is top class and very friendly. Food cannot be faulted which is why we always give a good tip at the end of our meal. Very good value for money and we love the open fire at this time of year (Oct) and forwards through into the New Year. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed and you will be back for more."

"Beautiful place. But disappointed with the food this visit. Steak was cooked to well done,when asked for raw to medium so that went back. Then the oinion rings we could not eat due to dripping in oil. We're we were placed to sit I kept getting knocked all evening by staff and public,wasn't happy at all with that. "Visited the Otter on Mother’s Day which also coincided with my birthday. Decided to opt for the Mother’s Day special menu because of the great dishes on offer. The meal was excellent and none of our party of four could fault it. We were looked after by Cat who could not have been more helpful. All in all a very enjoyable experience and we will definitely be making a return visit."

"We enjoy dining at The Three Cups as a family. However, during our most recent visit, two members of our group ordered the chicken and pork dish. Unfortunately, the meat was tough and difficult to eat, leaving both individuals dissatisfied. We were disappointed as we were celebrating a birthday together. "Terrible food. Overcooked burgers, warm limp salad ontop of fried fish, peas swimming in water, crème brulee tasted fridgey . Despite roaring log fires the dining room was cold, smoke/burning smells from the kitchen filled the pub, and there was a strong smell of stale cooking oil."

"I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. When we arrived, the waitstaff told us that many items on the menu were already sold out. Despite this, we stayed and my partner decided to order the filet steak. Unfortunately, after we had finished our starters, the waitstaff returned to tell us that they had also run out of filet steak. This was frustrating because they let us order and eat our starters before informing us that the main dish my partner wanted was no longer available. We paid for our starters and left without receiving our main courses. Overall, I was very disappointed and would not come back to this restaurant."

"Fishers Pond has an attractive setting and is a clean, well laid out restaurant. On arrival a queue had formed at the bar and we were uncertain how we should proceed. No one came to us and we waited 5 10 minutes before someone said we could take a certain table. We took ourselves there we were not shown or given the possibility of a table nearer to the water. The restaurant was busy but not full. Once seated everything went much more smoothly. However, 2 of the meals we chose were no longer available despite still being on the menu, and we had not been advised otherwise when we sat down. Two staff members seemed to be long standing staff but others seemed new and to be in training. The staff uniform was rather a severe colour and staff did not stand out initially. We ordered drinks and then food at nice intervals. The food came in an acceptable time frame and was very tasty. The menu choice was good (apart from the non availability). Desserts were also very nice. The vegan vegetarian options were appreciated. A pleasant experience but a member of staff on the door would have been helpful."

"This pub/restaurant is fantastic. It is always bustling with a lively atmosphere. We were able to squeeze in for a Sunday roast, along with our dog. The food was fantastic with generous portion sizes. Service was fast and friendly. The only tiny flaw was that the bratkartoffeln could have been a bit crispier, but this is a minor issue. Overall, it is a great spot and the fact that it is dog-friendly is a bonus. Highly recommended!"

"PLEASE SEE UPDATE A very depleted menu on offer, no steak, no this, no that no the other. Very disappointing. I understand that there are delivery problems but to be honest this was ridiculous! Also the place was closing early and we were made well aware of this a good 30 minutes prior to this. A rather strange and uncomfortable dinner sorry to say which is a first, as my dining experiences here are normally first class. Perhaps it was just an off night. UPDATE: Apologies to Inn at Scarcroft Although there were problems that evening, when I spoke to the rest of the party I was with, it appears that I must have been having an off night too. They felt that my review was far too harsh and that I should retract the 3stars and up it to 4. I should also make apologies for being a miserable old B gg r and remember that on every other occasion that I have eaten here (which is many) the service, food and ambiance has been 5 star. Thank you Colin for bringing this to my attention."
