"I took my mother to the Two Sisters restaurant for her birthday last Sunday. We were immediately greeted and informed about the brunch options (i.e. buffet versus brunch specials and other adjustments, such as turkey bacon instead of pork). I think this is a great place for a relaxed brunch and definitely for a mother-daughter date. We loved the food and the service. We drove to a Groupon and will definitely drive again without the Groupon. Worth it."

"Still the best around and great food, pastries, and coffee. However, removed one star, as coffee cups are very thick, absorbing the heat from the coffee so it’s lukewarm, and of course less coffee in the cup. Shame as it’s a great flavour. "The beautiful seaside hotel offers stunning ocean views. The staff were exceptional and went above and beyond to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Despite the challenges of COVID19, the hotel is making every effort to prioritize safety and provide excellent service. They are working tirelessly to meet all guidelines. The hotel is also very welcoming to dogs."

"Booked for lunch with friends. Looked after really well by staff. My fish pie came with a personal recommendation and was delicious. Others in our group were equally satisfied with their choices and we were left too full for pudding. Lovely atmosphere in the bar. Food drinks: Excellent food for our lunch. Steak Pie, fish and chips, and an excellent fish pie. Prompt service with friendly staff. Service: 5"

"After booking a short stay in Edinburgh for Easter, I decided to try out this restaurant for our first meal. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it turned out to be just a short walk from where we were staying. This worked out perfectly after a long and tiring 6-hour journey. The staff at the restaurant were exceptional and the quality of the meals was impressive, catering to all dietary preferences. I was particularly impressed by the delicious vegan meal I ordered, and my family thoroughly enjoyed their choices as well. Our waiter, who I unfortunately didn't catch the name of, was welcoming and knowledgeable. He even shared interesting information about the cafe's concept, which involves three different themed stores around Edinburgh. We finished off the evening back at our apartment, sharing a fantastic vegan dessert. Overall, it was an amazing start and a great first experience in Edinburgh."

"Booked for a Sunday lunch for four. Having looked ant the menu, and pucturs online, I was expecting small portions. As a result, we ordered a starter. This was a generous portion of soup, with some really tasty bread, and a small portion of hummus. This felt an odd combination, but it really worked. A short.while later, the mains were served. I was really surprised by the amount of meat. Everything tasted fantastic. I think perhaps a little more veg would have made an amazing meal perfect. Can't comment on the desserts, as none of our group had one, but everything we had, from the food to the service, was fantastic."

"My wife and I recently spent almost 2 weeks in London and had the pleasure of dinner at San Lorenzo twice. We came back for a second visit because the first was such a success. On both occasions we found the restaurant quiet and not terribly busy, which suited us. However, the hour was early, and such might not be the case later in the evening. The decor is comfortable, and a diner would feel at ease in dressy casual wear. On both nights we started with the carpaccio, which is truly excellent. The beef was exceedingly tender and it is dressed perfectly. There are several tempting salad choices for a starter. A salmon entree was delicious, the fish obviously fresh and not over-cooked. For the second dinner, we both chose their home made pasta for our entrees, which was sublimely tender and flavorful. Portion sizes are generous, but not overwhelming. Of note is the wine list, that includes many excellent Italian choices at reasonable (for London) prices. Service was competent and even friendly. We will return on our next trip!"

"Let's start with the positives; the food was absolutely delicious! This was hands down the best Indian food I have had since moving to Oxfordshire. The service was quick and the delivery person was extremely kind and thoughtful. However, I have to give this restaurant 3 stars due to the exorbitant cost of the 3 dishes (nearly £30) and the small portion sizes which were only enough for one person. I find it difficult to justify these prices, especially since I do not live in London. Having lived in Berkshire before, I know that food prices are typically higher there, but for £30 I would usually receive generous portions that would last me for multiple meals. I suggest reevaluating your pricing or increasing portion sizes in order to retain my business in the future."

"While visiting Knole, we decided to have lunch at a nearby pub and came across the Bricklayers Arms after a quick Google search. We were pleasantly surprised by the picturesque view of a lovely lake outside the pub. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by the staff and promptly handed menus. My partner enjoyed a classic dish of ham, egg, and chips, which did not disappoint with its generous serving of thick ham. I opted for a delicious goats cheese baguette. We left feeling satisfied and happy that we had stumbled upon such a great find. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was friendly, and the staff were welcoming. It was a perfect end to our day, as we didn't have to worry about cooking dinner."

"I have experienced many upscale events, so I understand and appreciate the effort that goes into running a public business—just as my wife, Trish, does. This young team has created a fantastic venue, and they genuinely work hard to connect with their customers. They strike a great balance between catering to locals and travelers. The food exceeds my expectations for this type of place, and while the accommodations could use some improvement, the local charm and concept truly elevate the experience for me. They are doing a great job!"

"Excellent experience at this pub in the heart of Dublin. I give it 5 stars because, despite being packed with people, we were served promptly. The food was delicious, and we got to enjoy an exciting rugby match thanks to the abundance of screens that ensured a perfect view from anywhere. Moreover, the bathrooms were clean and smelled nice, which is impressive considering how busy it was due to the match. Overall, highly recommended for a lively day out in the heart of Dublin. "I have eaten at The Queens Head many times, but on this occasion the Service was appalling, I had to ask for side plates three times before they arrived, we brought our daughter in law who enjoys Rose wine we asked the person taking our order if they could recommend one out of the two Rose wines that was dry, to be advised that they did not know so we had to google from our table to find out. When our dinner arrived we had to highlight something that was missing from my granddaughters dinner order to be told that , that was not the case but then advised so the missing item was brought to the table. I genuinely do not mind be charged for Service, but only good Service, £17.00 for appalling Service is a stretch. Parking: Had to park at least 150 metres from the pub not ideal when bringing a child Kid-friendliness: Staff to be clear on child’s men when items are missing"

"This place is immaculately clean compared to others. The staff are friendly and the we found the prices were good. As a family we had a mixed range of food and drinks, a freshly cooked pizza, a wrap, a panini and a Jacket Potato meal. All were tasty and the latte's came hot with patterns on them. My son's choice of the Oreo Milkshake was certainly the nicest one by miles. The place is busy however on arrival our table was cleaned quickly while we waited. The place has a nice ambience to it and i noticed the large upstairs seating area as well when visiting the washrooms on the first floor. Do expect to wait a short while as the food is cooked fresh on order."

"We had a bad experience with the food. Beef was terrible and the kitchen had not cooked properly for long enough. They took my men from the bill and replaced my with another dish, but it ruined the birthday meal for us. I mean, while everyone was done, for example. The manager came by the end and said the kitchen wouldn't have cooked it long enough, but why didn't nobody try it? Are you sure you see if it's delicate or not if it's a slowly cooked short rib? I could say by putting in the fork as my husband could. It must be obvious when it is flattened. Lamb was apparently average for £21.50, fish and chips good. But my replacement fish was overcooked! Dark brown and hard dough! I had a bad day. The staff is lovely, but you go there to eat. We sat in the conservatory when it was a beautiful day and they opened the window for us, but then the people started moving BBQs and Dustbins and at one point it was so loud and distracting we couldn't hear right! I wanted to sit in the conservatory, but I wouldn't have if I had known it sorted out the garden. We weren't for a year when we went a lot earlier, then it was a bit hard so we stopped. We wanted to try again. Unfortunately, it was a bit of a disaster."

"I went to the Alex for my birthday meal with three friends. We had planned to go to the Victoria Stakes but had to find another venue as it was closed because of a fire. There was no one else in the restaurant and it was very cold, despite the fire being lit. I hadn 't realised how 'meaty ' the Alex menu was I don 't eat meat! The only main courses that I could eat were fish and chips or mussels. I chose the mussels and these were really nice. My friends who ordered the fish and chips were disappointed to find that the chips were doorsteps rather than 'fries ' and also found the fish had too much batter. The wine went down well. It was a good evening but I won 't rush back."

"The staff as normal were fabulous, however our main courses were very disappointing, I had the grouse and it was severely undercooked, the waitress had said that it comes pink which I have no problem with, in fact I don’t mind my meat pink, however the breast was seared on one side then from there all the way through it was just raw, they hadn’t even seared both sides, it looked like a piece of raw liver is the only way to describe it. My hubby gave me a piece of his lamb and I gave him my grouse breast, but it was even too raw for him and he wouldn’t eat it. His lamb was no better again the waitress informed us that it comes pink, again no problem but again it was undercooked, the steak knife struggled to cut it and it was a poor cut of meat. The waitress offered to have it recooked but by that time I’d eaten most of the meal (except the meat) and I wasn’t prepared to wait for 3 small pieces of meat to be brought back to us. The mushroom part was also awful, there were no mushroom caps, just the woody underneath of it and it tasted nasty is I also left that so all I had was the potatoes and broccoli. We had been only visited weeks before and I’d had the grouse and it was amazing, I honestly can’t think what went wrong. We also had to wait over 20 minutes for our desserts (both of which were cold) for saying it was 3 courses we were there over 2 hours. I know we won’t be visiting again for a while."

"Celebrating my wife’s 30th birthday at this restaurant was absolutely amazing. I was really stressed about accommodating such a large group, but the staff blew me away with how helpful they were. Huge shoutout to Katie and Luke – they went above and beyond to make sure we were all comfortable. They even helped carry our enormous cake, which was no small feat! Their effort truly made the night special for everyone."

"I had the most terrible experience at this restaurant. I really wish I could get a refund. It was extremely noisy, chaotic, and overall awful. The waitstaff had trouble keeping track of their tables. The other diners were incredibly loud and disruptive, and no one addressed the issue. The food was poorly seasoned and prepared, with very small portions. I would highly recommend avoiding this restaurant at all costs. It is a truly terrible dining experience."

"While visiting family I went for lunch with my Mum and Sister. We normally go to The Star Inn in Rainford but we arrived to find that they don’t do food on a Tuesday so the barman recommended trying The Derby (a pub none of us had been in). On walking into the Derby the first thing you notice is the delicious smell of food and the faces of smiling, friendly staff. The two main rooms were busy but still plenty of tables to choose from in the bar area. We were given our menus and the drinks order was taken almost immediately after sitting down. The menus (main menu, lunch menu, specials menu) offer a wide variety of meals to suit all budgets and tastes. I had the Spanish Tortilla topped with Brie and Red Onion Chutney served with salad and a side of chips to share. It was absolutely delicious and I particularly liked the Brie on top which I’ve never tried on a Tortilla. The chips were perfectly crispy. My mum had the Strips of Chicken Breast in a peppercorn sauce with chips, rice and veg. She throughly enjoyed her meal although the large portions (especially of chicken) proved to be too much for her so they kindly put the remainder in a foil container to take home. My sister had a very light lunch of Tomato and Bell Pepper soup (and shared my fries) which she said was the best she’d ever had and she loved the chips too. We were all extremely pleased with everything about the Derby including the beautifully kept and very clean ladies toilets. Highly recommended and we will definitely be returning."
