"We tried the early tasting menu (great value, book online beforehand). The food was beautifully presented and the portions were generous. They substituted all the meat dishes on the menu with vegetarian options, which were all incredibly delicious. The service was outstanding, with friendly and attentive staff, especially a charming French waiter. The atmosphere was lively and the outdoor seating was lovely. We would definitely return."

"Portrait Gallery is consummate location to show off the city with a amazing view down Whitehall,with glass panelling surrounding the entire restaurant you are blown away by the view as soon as you vacate the lift on to restaurant floor. The Portrait restaurant affords you the relaxed setting to have not only a great view but welcomed conversation with your guests, unlike other restaurants here the environment is mellow rather then usual loud atmosphere of diners either clambering to talk to each other or the waiter. The staff are attentive and yet not over bearing, getting that balance of service and eloquence……..the location is another plus not only do you have one of London’s famous galleries downstairs but not a four minute walk are you from Trafalgar Square, were something is always happening.I decided to visit for breakfast having booked through opentable,where my request for a window table was honoured. "I met up with a few friends at this restaurant for their great value early evening special. The food was delicious and the service was top-notch. "Food was gloopy and disappointing Thai papaya salad was not remotely authentic sweet chilli sauce covering chunks of papaya fruit (rather than dry and grated) on a bed of leaves... very wrong. Pastas were cold and miso salmon tasteless. Tuna nicoise looked like it was made the day before and dressing was pink/grey in colour and inedible, Portions were poor."

"A very special restaurant with a fabulous view over Trafalgar Square and way beyond. A great menu with vegetation choices. A good wine list, but the bottles start just under £30.00. I made a mistake (and so did others) of leaving my coat and umbrella in the downstairs cloakroom, which closes before the upstairs (floor three), restaurant! I was told my coat and umbrella would be bought up to the restaurant cloakroom later but sadly this did not happen and it was a bit of a farce trying to retrieve my items at the end of the night! It is a little tricky to find floor three where the restaurant is situated. Basically enter through the main entrance, go up the stairs to the first level, walk all the way to the back of the room and you will see lifts at the end that will take you up to the restaurant. Definitely worth the trip but book first as this place gets busy."

"unfortunately we did not cost our meal here. the food was lukewarm, some were tasteful, but some were not. the waitress seemed to be a loss, what to say when we told her about eating. the owner came by to ask our opinion about eating, and even though he said he was sad that we did not enjoy our meal and would talk to the cook, he also went to great pain to defend it, even if we told him that we had also heard another table complaining about their meal and sending it back. in the night there was only another party in the restaurant, so the atmosphere was not great, but that was not her fault. everything said it wasn't a great experience."

"We were here for a drink and bar snacks, this time we booked for a meal. The staff is great and attentive, knowledgeable and helpful, with a smile also, you see the two guys at the bar in the picture that I was allowed to take the guys, great help and sense of humor. When sitting on the table I managed to knock a wine glass on the ground and smash it so embarrassing that I tried to get the pieces and was told by Will the Assistant Manager to leave it as it is okay, and they will take care of cutting better than your hands and creating more problems! Thank you. I'm sorry about the glass. The meal we had was the Brat option, most had chicken with the circumcisions ihad the trio option. Tasteful and pleasant, the only criticism is, it needed more vegetables on the plate, sorry. We have ordered extra pages and the broccoli with chili and lemon, master class. Only two had desert, Bramley applecake and custard, sticky toffee pudding with pecans and I had Custard with him, delicious. Thanks to Will and he is amazing staff from the bar to the restaurant and the kitchen, thanks to Chef Bis soon."

"The Grill on the Market was just around the corner from our hotel in London and we made use of the 50% offer with my Blackhouse group card. It looked very quiet when we first walked in, but this is was just the bar. The restaurant is at the back and up a few steps, I loved the look of the place, it was intimate and had a great buzz to the place. Sadly we had just missed the 241 happy hour on the cocktails. I had the Mussels which were cooked in a curry sauce which tasted amazing and had the Steak Fajitas for the main which was great too! Overall a fantastic meal served by a great waiter. I look forward to returning to this great restaurant again!"

"This is a beautiful restaurant with a comfortable atmosphere and lovely lighting. The dining area is separated from the bar, which is great because it allows you to enjoy your meal without being surrounded by people who are just there for drinks. Overall, it was a nice place to dine. My only criticism is that, despite the restaurant's focus on plant-based options, the selection was limited. There were only three vegetarian choices on the menu: a salad, a vegetarian burger, and a pasta dish. The staff was very attentive and friendly, and we would have happily left a tip. However, a 10% service charge is automatically added to the bill, which I personally don’t agree with. Nonetheless, we have no complaints and would definitely return."

"it's been a past since we went for a curry. young, we were not disappointed. friendly reception from the personal. they were more than happy to make a dish from menu when I asked if they were a court, was said it was not a problem to do it for me. they were also pleased with nutritional requirements. the portions were more than enough, next time we could not be greedy and go only for the net. they were happy to pack the rest. we would definitely recommend it and will go back."

"Brasserie Joel is situated in a hotel and quite a few of the diners were residents. It thus felt somewhat impersonal. The menu was standard brasserie fare, with nothing exciting or original, but plenty of tried-and-trusted favourites to choose from. Our waitress was on her first day (which she did apologise for) but spoke virtually no English and didn’t have a clue about the menu, so we could only order by pointing at the menu. When she brought someone to help (a manager I think), he still failed to inform me that the main ingredient of a dish I asked about was cheese (describing it as a Gazpacho). Ultimately the food was well cooked and decently presented, with a tarte tatin being particularly delicious. Next to the restaurant there is a nice bar, which was perfect for a digestif. However, the price, at £90/head (including a £65 bottle of fairly ordinary Pouilly Fume) seemed very steep for a brasserie and there are similar restaurants in the area at a far lower price point."

"The restaurant was quite full at 7:30pm with large parties and noisy children. In fairness it was Valentine's Day. Whilst it is always nice to see families with children dining together the somewhat intimate ambience the brasserie seems to target does not seem best suited to young diners. Possibly the problem is that hotel does not offer a more suitable restaurant option for those with youngsters. The bar area serves food but is rather large and not exactly cosy. The food was OK. The onion soup was extremely tasty but the cheese in it was surprisingly over generous making it a struggle to eat. The wine list is as you would expect in a London hotel, was quite expensive but with some excellent options. I made the mistake of asking for a brief pause between starters and main which as it always inevitably does, turned into an unacceptably long delay."

"Arrived and were seated, ordered drinks which came fairly quickly, food order was taken and starters came which were average. There were some large group orders that came out before our main course we were not informed there would be a wait for food) 2 of the main courses were burgers which were undercooked, verging on raw in the middle. Couldn't find a member of staff to talk to about it, so most of the meal was left. Tried to order some more drinks, however the member of staff was unable to take drinks orders there were only 2 members of staff running the restaurant area. When the second waitress came over she took the drink order, almost 30 minutes later we had to chase her for where the drinks were. We asked for the bill, which took another 20 minutes when it arrived I requested that the service charge be removed the feedback was that the manager didn't know how to do this, so a discount was applied. Overall this was a terrible experience on a Friday night, I have been in the past and had a much better experience."

"The restaurant is more of a formal setting than a casual pub, and the decor is not to my liking. The service is friendly but not very well coordinated. The staff seem preoccupied and it can be difficult to get their attention. My guest was kept waiting at the bar for almost 30 minutes, even though I had informed them that I was expecting someone. The food is decent, but not particularly impressive considering the prices (although the set lunch option is good value). "We were in the area looking for Sunday lunch so stopped by the Coventry Arms. The pub felt cramped and flew not well inside, but with a large outdoor area. The service was from the bar, although you had to be the right side of the bar, like me and several after me, were clearly stated. The young employees were enthusiastic, even until the point of a person tried to take our order twice! Food was hot, but quality wasn't great. It's a shame because you could hear that employees do their best for everyone."

"so. for a kick-off, this place has many potentials and is a very attractive and beautifully positioned place, right at the main train of the fair mile at henley on thames. good. that said the experience of our meal was less than satisfactory. After we decided that we didn't want to start and have only preferred a main course, we were surprised that our food came out within 5 minutes after the order and was ploned before us. that's good, but what we were greeted by has given us the feeling that we were back. the 80s with a beefeater art of experience. my friends steak was floppy and looked like something from tesco for 3 pfund and her veg was overcooked and black. with young, trunk broccoli, they only need to blanche for 2-3 minutes, as they wipe very quickly. on my head. this was 4 crevettes, deep fryed with a dressing that was good; no problems there at all and a lacking 1970 style prawn cocktail with super market marie the rosesoße pressed about what had been frozen on the bed of the shrunk iceberg salad. the chips, were stacked on the side and were dry and bleeding to be honest. no taste, and they were probably too long in the many remaining ofenchips. When I came back from the gents, I found my friend who knows the very polite and young waitress that eating was not good at all. that said the ingredients were good, it was how they were cooked and presented. pretty awful. each cook worth weight white how to cook a good steak and present young veg without being floppy and crowned. then we saw the young waitress who left the owner who then went to empty us. I guess she was upset that we had complained. I understand, but this is not professional and shows a significant lack of customer service as home personnel. the barman was polite and we paid quickly. we couldn't get out fast enough."
