"Fantastic Hidden little gem blink and you'll miss it ....so glad I didn't blink . We decided to have a full breakfast to set us up for the day ....don't be fooled by the little kitchens name ....the potions are massive , to partners delight , the pancakes are delicious , the food was excellent with a polite friendly service , taje away service ....the scones and cakes are so scrumptious we took a take away too Such welcoming friendly staff Harvey being a team player at such a young age lovely little boy . The owner came and had a chat and told us that the sausages are made not brought ...again superb ... Plates left clean The lady who served us went above and beyond with such a friendly personality anyone could get along with .she's a credit to the place . We will definitely go back even though from northants ....it's worth it xx prices are so reasonable. 5* and I've tried many tea room and cafes .... Book up as it gets busy ....that tells you just how good it is....you won't be disappointed"

"We have ordered from Bay Leaf in Heanor a few times and have always been impressed by the high quality of the food. The tandoori chicken is especially delicious, and we love how they use it in their butter chicken dish as well. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant itself is clean and spacious. I would feel comfortable dining in with my daughter now that she is a bit older. The food has consistently been excellent, and we hope that once they receive their hygiene certificate, they will become a 5-star establishment. We have never had any issues with the food quality, and have ordered takeout from Bay Leaf at least six times in the past year."

"I booked online this place as they offered table service for Sunday roast. The views were nice in the restaurant,it also had a farm shop. Staff were very polite, and food came out quick. Roast dinner was served with homemade style Yorky. They have Bluebells ice cream : Now the negatives- most of food was warm but not hot, the portion size wasn't very big, 3 cubes of carrot. Small spoon peas, 1 small brocoli stem. My preference would to just have plain carrots rather than coated in something. The choice of cauliflower on its own or with cheese. Also came with small mash and potato with skin on. The staff did ask if everything was OK. I said yes, as it was busy and didn't want to complain and spoil the meal out. My negatives are just something to consider. I would visit again but maybe just to try their breakfast or pop by for ice cream and a drink."

"I had a wonderful meal here with my family, which included a total of nine people, along with a small child. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly from the moment we arrived until the end of our meal. The food was served quickly, piping hot, and all at once. The portions were generous and satisfying. We also enjoyed a beautifully presented dessert that was a good size. My partner had the squash pudding, which came with plenty of crispy toppings—definitely not a tiny portion! Overall, it was excellent value for money. I was genuinely impressed and will definitely return."

"There’s a few options for morning or afternoon tea, or a light lunch, while you are spending time in Shipley Country Park. The Nutbrook Coffee Shop is by far the most pleasant of them all, and certainly serves the best coffee of them all. It’s set in picturesque surroundings. As well as a contemporary inside dining area, it has two outdoor seating areas: one is under a marquee in the garden of the cafe, and the other is across the road in front of the cafe, with suitably spaced picnic tables under huge umbrellas. On the beautiful day we visited, the outside areas were extremely busy. The cafe is just beyond the south-eastern edge of Shipley Country Park, and is a good 30 minute walk from the park’s visitor centre. It’s a bit closer from the village of Mapperley, and is a 20 minute walk along the pretty Slack Road. However, the cafe attracts a lot of walkers and cyclists, not just from Shipley Country Park but because it’s on the popular car-free Nutbrook Trail between Long Eaton and Heanor. We called in for morning tea. There were very precise social distancing measures in place; we were assigned a table, then observed a one way system to order, with food and drinks being delivered to your assigned table. It was civilised and appreciated. We had morning tea at the coffee shop. The freshly-brewed double espresso and the flat white were outstanding. The cafe actually sells a range of packs of coffee beans so it’s apparent that decent coffee beans are sourced. This was accompanied by huge freshly-baked scones. What a selection to choose from: plain, fruit, raspberry and cheese. We chose the raspberry scones. Served with jam and clotted cream, they were outstanding. The menu for a light lunch is quite comprehensive, with a wide range of soups, sandwiches, paninis, jacket potatoes, sausage rolls and pasties. Service was charming and obliging, and we felt welcomed. It’s dog friendly (we had a dog with us), but it’s expected that you keep your pooch calm and settled. The coffee shop is worth seeking out. It’s a little gem, and it’s popularity confirms that!"
