"Booked a table of 5 for my birthday dinner. We were promptly seated then immediately asked for drinks orders before even being offered a drinks menu or water. After we had ordered drinks we were being rushed into ordering some food, every two minutes different waiters coming and asking if we are ready to order (at least 7 times). After we did order and the food was brought out, we were then just forgotten about and nobody came over anymore to check if we needed any more drinks (4 out of 5 glasses were empty) or if the food was ok. (It was- but no one checked). After we had finished dining, we still had empty glasses and had to wait 20+ minutes until we eventually stopped a waiter walking past and asked if we could order more drinks. The drinks then took another 15 minutes to come. It was also very disappointing that although we had mentioned on the booking itself that it was for my birthday, there was no acknowledgement of this (I have been before and had received a plate with ‘happy birthday’ written on it in some kind of sauce with a sparkler). My sister even went to ask the woman working on the front desk and received a standoffish attitude back saying no. When the £235 bill came, it even listed ‘birthday plate £0.00’ on it!!! That really let the evening down. The interactions with the staff themselves were great, they were very polite and personable but the actual level of service of being rushed to order and then totally forgotten about really dampened what could have been a fantastic evening."

"Excellent, gourmet level food in a humble dining room with 4 booths and just 14 other chairs, staffed by friendly, helpful servers. Note, the name has changed since the previous review written in 2010. The 'Old ' has been deleted. The restaurant is now The Watch House. Google map the location. The address says Truro but the actual tiny seaside village is St. Maws. Use the public parking just to the right of building. The car park sign is obvious. 75 parking spots available. Then walk 200 yards to the eatery. My meal: delicious sweet potato purée. Slightly spicy with chili oil. Liquified with coconut milk. Croutons in a side cup to top onto the soup. Fish was whole sautéed plaice in clarified butter topped samphire capers. Adequate cup of chips on the side. Fried correctly and delicious. Wife 's meal: roasted tiger prawns, spicy exterior, juicy meat. I was a little surprised that the portion of 6 shrimp was considered a meal, as my plaice dish was comparatively huge. Also, shrimp came with no sides. So for £20 This dish is overpriced. But Barbara was satisfied. She ordered an extra side salad for £4. It was sparkling fresh. Small selection of locally made beers (by the bootle, no,casks), wines and a few cocktails on the menu. I had an ale made in neighboring Penryn, it was satisfying. Barbara had a glass of South African Pinot noir. It was passable at best. (I 'm a wine snob from Northern California) Verdict: good food, excellent service, not cheap. Meal described above price was £55. You can eat more economically. Fish and chips will set you back £14."

"As mediocre as YoSushi is, I am so glad they 're right around the corner from my office. Anyone who knows me can vouch for my random and insatiable sushi cravings at least once a week, so even though it isn 't spectacular, Yo will sell me the raw fish on rice that I so desperately need. The sushi is of a quality just greater than the supermarket variety. Edible, sometimes quite yummy, but barely actually sushi . The fish is ok, the rice is decent, and the variety is fine, but when compared to *nice* Japanese places with career sushi chefs who have been doing this all their lives, you can see that Yo is in a completely different ball-park. Quite good for what it is, but you should be sure you know what it is before you get your hopes up too high. The hot food is a bit better than the sushi, with katsu, yakisoba, and various other cooked items available most of the time. My main caveat for this branch of Yo would be the totally awkward waitstaff that serves the dinner rush. We sat through the most bizarre and confusing explanation of their hot-food ordering policy that turned out to be a complete fabrication, and I 'm still not even sure I understand what he was trying to say. A few minutes later, there seemed to be an extra dish of chicken teriyaki floating around that someone had ordered but not claimed, so the waiter came round and put it down in front of us. You want? Um.... no we 're ok with our noodles and nigiri, thanks. You sure? You try and if you don 't like, I don 't charge you. No, thanks very much but we 're just finishing up. It 's nice chicken with sauce. You try it. *walks away* It was clear that they had made an extra order of the stuff and they were trying to get rid of it. I don 't know why they didn 't just put it on the conveyor belt because it did look nice and someone would have undoubtedly taken it. My husband tried a bite and told the waiter it was too sweet for him. I said, Dude, I would have eaten that! and he confessed that it wasn 't actually half-bad, he just didn 't want the aggressive salesman to win. So, Yo is decent as long as you take it for what it is. The real thing that keeps me going back is the copious amounts of vouchers they keep emailing me; I would have a hard time justifying the expenditure for such a mediocre dining experience if it wasn 't for the 40% discount coupon they were kind enough to send me. Keep it up with the vouchers, Yo, and this could be a lasting relationship. More out of need than out of want, you understand, but as long as I can have some raw fish on rice for less than the sticker price, I 'll be there."

"We visited Hucks for a family meal as it was my grandsons 2nd birthday. After seeing a mixture of reviews we thought it’s always best to see what a venue is actually like by visiting yourself. We were greeted and seated at our table by our member of the floor staff, Paige, who was courteous and helpful throughout our visit. Our order consisted of the large sharing Nachos, followed by a selection of mains including chilli burgers, pork belly rib and chicken fajitas. These were all excellent and a special mention must be made for the garlic butter fries which are fab and must be tried when you visit! The children’s meal was a good sized portion of good quality chicken nuggets with fries if you’ve ever had the bad quality ones you will know what I mean) a fruit shoot and ice cream bowl , where you can visit the self service ice cream machines and add toppings. The background music along with Back to the Future playing on video screens made the visit a great choice for family groups and the venue was busy even though we chose to dine early evening. The disabled facilities were clean and well equipped I am disabled and all too often this is not the case thank you Hucks! All in all, Hucks is well worth a visit whilst here at Center Parcs Sherwood and we will be back again. A special mention for Paige as she is everything a member of floor staff should be , helpful, courteous and unruffled in busy times with a professional manner and a smile. Can other venues please take note, as an overall observation at Hucks was that all the staff looked genuinely happy whilst working too"
