"I visited a restaurant yesterday with three friends and had a negative experience. One staff member was trying to serve customers and take orders at the same time, leading to long wait times. Another staff member in the kitchen seemed overwhelmed but was trying to keep up. The manager appeared to be running around without accomplishing much until they finally started taking orders to help ease the workload. Despite the issues, the lunch I ordered was delicious. However, the overall experience was marred by the disorganization and unhappy staff. I recommend that the restaurant hire more employees and improve their organization to not only improve customer reviews but also to ensure a happier work environment for their staff."

"Booked a table of 5 for my birthday dinner. We were promptly seated then immediately asked for drinks orders before even being offered a drinks menu or water. After we had ordered drinks we were being rushed into ordering some food, every two minutes different waiters coming and asking if we are ready to order (at least 7 times). After we did order and the food was brought out, we were then just forgotten about and nobody came over anymore to check if we needed any more drinks (4 out of 5 glasses were empty) or if the food was ok. (It was- but no one checked). After we had finished dining, we still had empty glasses and had to wait 20+ minutes until we eventually stopped a waiter walking past and asked if we could order more drinks. The drinks then took another 15 minutes to come. It was also very disappointing that although we had mentioned on the booking itself that it was for my birthday, there was no acknowledgement of this (I have been before and had received a plate with ‘happy birthday’ written on it in some kind of sauce with a sparkler). My sister even went to ask the woman working on the front desk and received a standoffish attitude back saying no. When the £235 bill came, it even listed ‘birthday plate £0.00’ on it!!! That really let the evening down. The interactions with the staff themselves were great, they were very polite and personable but the actual level of service of being rushed to order and then totally forgotten about really dampened what could have been a fantastic evening."

"Excellent, gourmet level food in a humble dining room with 4 booths and just 14 other chairs, staffed by friendly, helpful servers. Note, the name has changed since the previous review written in 2010. The 'Old ' has been deleted. The restaurant is now The Watch House. Google map the location. The address says Truro but the actual tiny seaside village is St. Maws. Use the public parking just to the right of building. The car park sign is obvious. 75 parking spots available. Then walk 200 yards to the eatery. My meal: delicious sweet potato purée. Slightly spicy with chili oil. Liquified with coconut milk. Croutons in a side cup to top onto the soup. Fish was whole sautéed plaice in clarified butter topped samphire capers. Adequate cup of chips on the side. Fried correctly and delicious. Wife 's meal: roasted tiger prawns, spicy exterior, juicy meat. I was a little surprised that the portion of 6 shrimp was considered a meal, as my plaice dish was comparatively huge. Also, shrimp came with no sides. So for £20 This dish is overpriced. But Barbara was satisfied. She ordered an extra side salad for £4. It was sparkling fresh. Small selection of locally made beers (by the bootle, no,casks), wines and a few cocktails on the menu. I had an ale made in neighboring Penryn, it was satisfying. Barbara had a glass of South African Pinot noir. It was passable at best. (I 'm a wine snob from Northern California) Verdict: good food, excellent service, not cheap. Meal described above price was £55. You can eat more economically. Fish and chips will set you back £14."

"I wanted so badly to love this place, but it just fell short. Incredibly small portion sizes with a huge price tag. They melted mozzarella cheese and called it queso , which came with 3 mini soft tortilla shells (no, not fried like tortilla chips). I had the vegetable quesadilla, which had absolutely no cheese in it at all. It looked exactly like my friend 's taco. I 'm not sure what they think a quesadilla is, but it surely isn 't shaped like a taco. The only thing remotely close to authentic mexican cuisine was their mexican rice, which was clearly the saving grace here. The quesadilla I had was layered with a sauce that was so spicy I lost feeling in my tongue after the first bite. Despite their wrongdoings, the manager was incredibly friendly and personable. However, after eating, the restaurant picked up quite quickly and we had to wait almost an hour for our bill. It was quite frustrating, being that we were only in London for 2 days and had very limited time."

"As mediocre as YoSushi is, I am so glad they 're right around the corner from my office. Anyone who knows me can vouch for my random and insatiable sushi cravings at least once a week, so even though it isn 't spectacular, Yo will sell me the raw fish on rice that I so desperately need. The sushi is of a quality just greater than the supermarket variety. Edible, sometimes quite yummy, but barely actually sushi . The fish is ok, the rice is decent, and the variety is fine, but when compared to *nice* Japanese places with career sushi chefs who have been doing this all their lives, you can see that Yo is in a completely different ball-park. Quite good for what it is, but you should be sure you know what it is before you get your hopes up too high. The hot food is a bit better than the sushi, with katsu, yakisoba, and various other cooked items available most of the time. My main caveat for this branch of Yo would be the totally awkward waitstaff that serves the dinner rush. We sat through the most bizarre and confusing explanation of their hot-food ordering policy that turned out to be a complete fabrication, and I 'm still not even sure I understand what he was trying to say. A few minutes later, there seemed to be an extra dish of chicken teriyaki floating around that someone had ordered but not claimed, so the waiter came round and put it down in front of us. You want? Um.... no we 're ok with our noodles and nigiri, thanks. You sure? You try and if you don 't like, I don 't charge you. No, thanks very much but we 're just finishing up. It 's nice chicken with sauce. You try it. *walks away* It was clear that they had made an extra order of the stuff and they were trying to get rid of it. I don 't know why they didn 't just put it on the conveyor belt because it did look nice and someone would have undoubtedly taken it. My husband tried a bite and told the waiter it was too sweet for him. I said, Dude, I would have eaten that! and he confessed that it wasn 't actually half-bad, he just didn 't want the aggressive salesman to win. So, Yo is decent as long as you take it for what it is. The real thing that keeps me going back is the copious amounts of vouchers they keep emailing me; I would have a hard time justifying the expenditure for such a mediocre dining experience if it wasn 't for the 40% discount coupon they were kind enough to send me. Keep it up with the vouchers, Yo, and this could be a lasting relationship. More out of need than out of want, you understand, but as long as I can have some raw fish on rice for less than the sticker price, I 'll be there."

"We visited Yoku on a Sunday evening for a meal after a long day's walking. We were not disappointed! We were met warmly upon walking in and were looked after really well by the team. We enjoyed sake cocktails, wine and beer and an array of super fresh, tasty Japanese food. We chose the pumpkin croquettes, prawn tempura, various sushi rolls and chicken katsu donburi and all were really delicious. The prices were very reasonable for a Japanese restaurant (they had a Korean page on the menu too) and the restaurant had lovely lighting and music playing. We loved Yoku and will definitely be back!"

"My boyfriend and I were staying in Corstophine for one night during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and went out looking for the one Italian restaurant the girl at our hotel told us was nearby. We didn't find it, but as we were about to give up and succumb to the McDonald's Golden Arches, we spotted the Redwood Bistro. So, so glad we did! What was apparently once a family house has been converted into a seriously welcoming but cool little restaurant, offering Californian fusion food that was by far the best meal we had in Edinburgh! We both had the ras el hanout spiced flank steak with bulgar wheat salad and the kitchen also very generously let me have a side of broccoli that was on the lunch menu (we were there in the evening). Pretty much everything on the menu has gluten free/vegetarian/vegan variants too. While we ended up spending a little more than we intended to that evening, the meal was reasonably priced, especially considering the standard of the food. If you want something a little different for a special night this bistro would be ideal too. I didn't catch the name of the lady who served us, but she was so accommodating and lovely. She recommended a red wine to my boyfriend that he really enjoyed (I don't drink red, so I'll have to take his word for it) and was very attentive. Would 100% return if we're ever back up in the area."

"The food has always been delicious but the wait is the longest I have ever known! Both times we have placed the order online for delivery and it tells you a time but soon after you get an email saying it will be considerably later. And then it doesn’t even come at that time. I placed my order at 5pm, at 625pm I got a call to say it was being prepared and one of my items was not available. I find this wait hard to take when so many other takeaways arrive much quicker that that. 2 hours from order to arrival is really not acceptable and to find out an hour and a half after you order that you can’t have what you want is pretty poor really"

"the winner, winner chicken dinner (chicken and waffeln) was amazing. served in a large flat bowl, a small mountain of Maryland batteries fried chicken tsartes rests on perfectly boiled and delicious waffel quarters driped in 100% Canadian maple syrup. the whole was dressed with 4 strip crispy speck. the chicken batter is homemade and has a very wonderful mix of seasoned. the chicken was kicked for perfection: tons taste, just the right amount of crunch/crisis, and no visible fat. if the store works properly (I ate the plate extremely fast; it was only too good), there were 4-5 big, thick and juicy chicken pliers and three waffels (before trimmed in quarters) my wife ordered a frying chicken with salat and mac and cheese. the chicken was deliciously moist with a beautifully tanned skin and exactly the right amount of seasoned. the greener and co-owner mikey ran in front of the house and was also our waiter/server for the evening. Eating is a passion for him, and it showed in his menu as well as his service. the location is very convenient to the city center, and it looks at the river ouse that makes for some beautiful views. Although we have densed in the interior, there were many sitting places in the open (in juni,) and many mozens used the beautiful weather to enjoy a cool drink while in the landscape. we will definitely return at our next visit to york."

"I booked in advance to get a good table and still think that this is the best Mexican food in Brighton but the service was SO bad this time. We won’t be going back. We arrived and our table wasn’t ready we had to ask to sit somewhere else to wait and the staff member was clearly unhappy with that We ordered drinks and food and even though our table had cleared were told to stay put squashed uncomfortably on a four person table with a buggy rammed in beside us. I’d understand if we were walk ins. The staff member -I think the owner- was very stressed and busy but made no effort to apologise or acknowledge his gruffness. We all felt uncomfortable with his attitude and it ruined the dining experience. Shame, it was our favourite restaurant."

I recommend if they can get a table."

"Been here 4+ times. Food is always absolutely brilliant. I've never had much luck with the booking system here, but staff are always really helpful and have managed to fit us in on a couple of occasions when I made a mistake with the booking. Service is nice and steady and you don't feel pushed out the door despite it being a busy restaurant. Two separate kitchens here mean if you order a pizza you'll most likely recieve it before any other plates. That said the drinks menu is vast, so much choice, so if you can get here without driving it's definitely a good idea! Parking at front and back, it's always a tad tight, so maybe leave a few minutes extra to get a spot. But each visit here has been really good, as mentioned brilliant food, fantastic drinks and honestly lovely staff, and a lovely atmosphere. Menu is perhaps a tad more pricey than some pubs, but it absolutely reflects the value. This is a must visit, certainly recommend!"

"We stop there for a drink after our walk. The female bartender at the time made me a wrong coffee. But blamed it on me that I've put the wrong order in, instead of fixed her mistake make me a new one. (I ordered a latte but I got Americano.... So not a good impression for customer service really. Definitely not coming back there again."

"has a short vegan menu or they can have their own bowl salate. at the moment it seems to serve 9 meal times for the delivery for each 1 meal in (for understandable reasons), which means when they sit in it a little frenetic, but it is more of a place than a restaurant. good value, I thought. updated by previous review on 2020-09-11"

"Whilst staying in Guildford I was attracted to this restaurant by the fish stew and I was not disappointed, it had everything I would expect in a brasserie in France, of which I have eaten in many. My husband had the Noël 3 course Christmas special and enjoyed the variety on offer. I did not have a starter but tasted bits of the starter my husband had. Because I was fairly full up after the fish stew I had the lighter Café Gourmand 3 miniature desserts with coffee, popular in France they were a perfect finish to the meal. There was a buzz in the smallish restaurant, something you take for granted in Europe but don’t always get in the UK. The staff were friendly helpful. I was so impressed that I have booked a table for 4 In Edinburgh, when I visit next week. I hope it’s as good as the Guildford Côte."

"We visited Hucks for a family meal as it was my grandsons 2nd birthday. After seeing a mixture of reviews we thought it’s always best to see what a venue is actually like by visiting yourself. We were greeted and seated at our table by our member of the floor staff, Paige, who was courteous and helpful throughout our visit. Our order consisted of the large sharing Nachos, followed by a selection of mains including chilli burgers, pork belly rib and chicken fajitas. These were all excellent and a special mention must be made for the garlic butter fries which are fab and must be tried when you visit! The children’s meal was a good sized portion of good quality chicken nuggets with fries if you’ve ever had the bad quality ones you will know what I mean) a fruit shoot and ice cream bowl , where you can visit the self service ice cream machines and add toppings. The background music along with Back to the Future playing on video screens made the visit a great choice for family groups and the venue was busy even though we chose to dine early evening. The disabled facilities were clean and well equipped I am disabled and all too often this is not the case thank you Hucks! All in all, Hucks is well worth a visit whilst here at Center Parcs Sherwood and we will be back again. A special mention for Paige as she is everything a member of floor staff should be , helpful, courteous and unruffled in busy times with a professional manner and a smile. Can other venues please take note, as an overall observation at Hucks was that all the staff looked genuinely happy whilst working too"

"I ordered a variety of cooked dishes which included chicken skewers, ribs, special fried rice, and salmon dinner. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. The chicken skewers were barely edible and the salmon dinner was terrible. The salmon tasted fishy and did not seem fresh. The rice was overcooked and mushy. The beef ribs were salty, hard, and appeared to have been reheated. Even the chicken skewers seemed to have been microwaved. The special fried rice lacked typical ingredients such as egg and onion, and was simply white rice with soy sauce and tough pieces of beef, chicken, and a couple of shrimp. Additionally, the teriyaki sauce on the salmon had a strange, jelly-like consistency. Overall, I would rate this meal zero stars as the food was inedible and simply awful."

"our first sushi experience was a more successful at sushido. the service was excellent with daniella time to explain the different menu options. the food was extremely deliciously presented extremely well. we paid more than what we usually did for a meal...out, but it was a special occasion that was worth high-quality fresh food! They also kindly brought out a delicious dessert for my daughter, as it was her birthday that was a nice, nice note. we would like to come back!"

"We returned this year for dinner after having a lovely experience last year. We ordered a starter and main, the starter we both chose as the ‘New Forest Rosary Goats cheese’. This was advertised as being served with walnuts, apple and a honey dressing at a cost of £9. When it arrived it was simply a bowl full of lettuce leaves with a sprinkle of goats cheese and 5 slices of apple. We were both hugely disappointed as this was definitely not as advertised. We expressed our disappointment and returned the dishes. We explained that the description was misleading and that our expectation was of majority goats cheese with walnut apple and the dressing not 80% lettuce which was in fact not even mentioned. We had a nice main course, although our experience was now dampened but the height of our surprise was when the bill was presented with both starters still being charged for. We questioned this and the lady said she felt they shouldn’t be removed just because we didn’t like them! She completely missed the point and in the end reluctantly agreed to remove one. We paid to avoid further embarrassment (for them as an establishment) and left quietly, without tipping them and vowing never to return again. The moral of the story here is ‘should a bowl of lettuce comprise reputation and the retention of customers??’"
