"Last week, I was invited to dinner at a new restaurant called Aline in Mayfair by PocketHighStreet, and it was without a doubt, the most food I’ve ever eaten in one sitting (and I grew up in Cyprus! I thought I was going to explode on the way home, but it was an incredibly satisfied feeling. As many of you may know, I love a sandwich (I seem to have written quite a few sandwich related posts recently! so when PocketHighStreet told me that Aline specialises in ‘gourmet sandwiches,’ I couldn’t have been more excited."

"The staff were lovely and could not do more however, there were only 2 staff on and they were very harassed although they their best not to show it. The starter was excellent but The prime burger was very dry with a very sad piece of lettuce and tomatoe on it.. the chips were lukewarm. The dessert was average and we were only offered other drinks quite a while after we had eaten. We decided not to stay for tea and coffee. We used to eat here very regularly and always at Christmas but I don’t think we will be back for quite some time."

"We had a family meal late lunch here, a couple of days ago. It was lovely! The other people in the restaurant were equally happy, there was a young italian family too. There is a good children’s menu. The oysters are excellent but tend to sell out. I had fish and chips; they were so well made the food did not feel heavy on the stomach. Check opening times and book in advance, if you want to eat here, as it gets busy. We did not book but luckily it was 45 mins to closing so we got a table. I can’t remember if there was baby change facilities here, but the very good maritime museum, 1 minute walk away, has some there. Staff were very nice. Chefs very professional. I would recommend this restaurant very highly… good for families were young children too."

"Had been here a few times before and we always liked coming for lunch as it was a lovely vibe and food was delicious. Unfortunately we had a very unpleasant experience this time on my partners birthday, they didn’t have our table ready and then we got put in the forgotten corner and we had to go and ask twice for someone to take our order and then it took a while for the food to come and when it came they brought out the wrong items and the food was quite bland and small portions not worth the money."

"The Magnum is quite honestly a loving little place for a meal. On the outside, it looks like your general bog standard pub but inside it has a lovely feel inside. Lots of fairy lights, chandeliers and mood lighting, it's the perfect place to go for a date night. The service was very friendly from the moment we walked through the doors. Straight away offering to take our coats before showing us to our seats and taking our drinks order. Very prompt and efficient but still friendly and welcoming. The food itself was pretty wonderful. I ended up switching my starer with my partner, as we both found we preferred each other's choice. So I started off with the haggis, I ended up loving the arbroath smokie pate. Was really fresh and light. Perfect starter to be honest. For our mains, I had the chicken burger because you can't beat a classic burger can you, and my partner had scottish rib eye steak which looked pretty wonderful. Now.... the desserts. Yes the starters and main course were lovely but The Magnum are winner when it comes to desserts. I went for the the chocolate fudge cake which, even though this was a few months back... I am still pining after it. It was just wonderful! I would love to go back again soon. Even if it's just for a quick drink as I really liked the cosy feel about The Magnum!"

"The food was good but not many options for vegetarians... The rest of the family really enjoyed their meat dishes... My only problem was that the hygiene aspect in terms of staff and washing hands was a concern. On two occasions staff blew their nose but did not wash hands afterwards. One member of staff observe to drop a couple of coffee beans but then these were put on the cocktail.. Maybe I have very high hygiene standard and this is quite acceptable.."

"... which is not to say the food was bad, it was just pretty medium. Chips were flavourless; luckily they provide salt at the table as well as pepper, hot sauce, and ketchup. Other sauces you do have to pay extra for. This brings me to the topic of price expensive. It is in a central location in Edinburgh but even taking this into consideration, the prices were steep and so we got the most plain of the burgers as that was also the cheapest option. It was yummy, with a beetroot bun and some roasted red peppers, but nothing exceptional, and it wasn 't very big (bf joked where 's the rest of it! . Other vg burgers may have been more interesting but I 'm on a budget! I had a cool (also expensive drink too. Atmosphere nice enough, lots of business y people came in around 6; didn 't really experience it as a lively or exciting vibe, although it might get that way later on we left around 18:30. "This used to be a great place to eat but sadly the food quality and cleanliness has gone downhill. The staff are great but we won’t be visiting again. The vegetarian special was awful and tasted and looked like it had been sitting around for ages and cooked so badly the pumpkin was totally decimated. I was expecting a bright and vibrant dish and not a pile of grey and black sludge. The table was very sticky to touch and the toilets also need a good clean. We’ve found that this has been the norm for a while so not just a one off I’m afraid."

"This was our first Christmas dinner out as a family so we did not know what to expect. We have been to the Packe Arms many times and have always been impressed. Christmas Day was no exception. Staff were lovely, food was brilliant and the atmosphere was very festive. We particularly loved that there was a busy atmosphere but that the pub had not been packed to the max. The flow of families was very well managed, it wasn't too crowded and you weren't rushed off your table either, but there were enough people about to feel like tounwere sharing the daybwith others. We were served quickly but leisurely and not once we're we made to feel an inconvenience or a bother. Staff seemed to be happy working and we're all in good spirits too Kid-friendliness: Our children have always been welcomed and accommodated here Price per person: £80–90 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Parking space: Plenty of parking Parking options: Free of charge parking lot"

"Had dinner for 4 and everything from beginning to end of meal was perfect. Service was prompt, friendly efficient and very helpful. Monkfish starter was really delicious as was the Sea Bass. We had Roast Lamb Loin and Striploin of Sirloin for main courses along with Cauliflower Gratin. All agreed tastiest Lamb and Beef dishes we have had. Thoroughly recommended."

"What a horrendous experience. I really don’t know where to start, we work hard all year and finished work on Friday 22nd so booked to go to the star on Saturday to start our family Christmas celebrations. Were had a dreadful year and were looking forward to a nice meal out. Firstly when we arrived the waitress came within minutes to take our order. I asked if we could order drinks and just give us a few minutes to look at the food menu. My son ordered a regular Coke, I ordered the Christmas cosmo cocktail and my husband the zero alcohol peroni. My god this was hard work , firstly I was told they might not be able to do the cocktail, my son was brought a pint of Coke and my husband a pint of peroni? He queried if it was correct as shed checked at least 3 times before what he wanted and was assured it was. However a few minutes later the waitress rushed over to advise it was in fact alcohol!! She then didn’t come back to take our food order for over 30 mins (I’d point out at this point the restaurant was more than half empty) When taking the food order we ordered the cheesy garlic bread , chorizo bites and olives to share as a starter. We were advised they didn’t have any cheese , so the bread would just be garlic bread. We agreed that would be fine. My husband ordered the duo of lamb, sorry no lamb was the response ! Eventually after another long wait our starters came out and omg ! The garlic bread was burnt to a crisp ! Black ! My husband took this back to the waitress and told her to take it back and take off our bill. How on earth any self respecting chef let that leave the kitchen , or a waitress bring that to a customer’s table is insulting. When the mains came we were at the point of giving up. Both my husbands main and my main were cold !! Stone cold. We decided to just eat what we could and get out of there. So we asked for the bill. We waited and waited and waited. All the time all three members of staff were huddled around the til. Obviously having an issue. But instead of coming over and apologising for the wait we were left sitting there. Eventually after calling IT they resolved the issue. On the way out my husband did express how bad the experience was. The manager offered to deduct something off the bill. But that would make no difference to our ruined lunch out. The food is below par, the prices were an absolute rip off!! Nearly £30 for a burger with a pig in blanket screwed to the top. I will not be returning here. It was a shame because 13 months ago we’d had a lovely meal , but this experience was horrendous. Never again"

"when we were there, they said we didn't book. we ordered a bottle of wine, half an hour later they came back and said they ran out of the wine, 10 minutes after the waitress returned with a bottle of wine. the ordered appetizers took almost 1 hour to complain to us after 3 times, once arrived they were not hot. the main course lasted almost 2 hours to come back, had to complain several times, to the luck was hot, although the tip of my rice was clear dried out. we were next to teenagers (some kind of summer school) very loud and around like teenagers. Nevertheless, the restaurant should have put them in a functional room and not beside fully paying customers, I do not blame the youth at all. I felt very disappointed as this was the worst culinary experience we had for a very, very long time. the waitress worked extremely hard, I don't feel that any of them is their fault, not what they want after they celebrated the special day of their child"

So, on a wet bank holiday Saturday I was happy to meet a friend for dinner."

"The restaurant offers a wide variety of options ranging from meat to vegetarian, including kebabs, wraps, burgers, and milkshakes. My family particularly enjoys their wraps, although my 11-year-old daughter finds them a bit too spicy. However, they do offer the option to adjust the spice level, which I unfortunately forgot to request. The wraps are packed full of meat or vegetarian fillings, along with various sauces and salad options that make for a satisfying meal. The preparation area is clean and hygienic, and the prices are very reasonable. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone - their wraps are some of the best I've ever had."

"we have booked this beautiful boutique hotel for a few days to get away from it all and it is not disappointed. the atmosphere is relaxed and the staff is attentive and friendly. when we visited a previous one, we tried to try the dinner menu at the time, as it was quite brilliant and we were not disappointed! the standard is of a very high quality and, although not cheap, it is worth every penny. we would recommend this hotel to anyone who likes to be chilled and treated with great food, drinks and service."

"The Aviator Brasserie is an elegant and stylish restaurant with fabulous food and attentive service. A five star dining experience for a high end provincial price. I don't mind paying a bit more when the quality is provided. The meat was of excellent quality and cooked to perfection. Dressings and vegetables were really tasty and beautifully presented. My special requests made at the time of booking were met in full and the chef made absolutely sure that the meal met my diary requirements. "In fairness we arrived late (although advising the restaurant in advance, and ordering our meal whilst in the car). Nonetheless the food was not up to standard and we were very disappointed. As long time patrons of the now closed sister restaurant in Amersham, where we were well known and often visited, this branch was nowhere near as good. Our waitress was excellent, but her manager (we assume) was somewhat ambivalent. We queried the cost of an item on our bill, which was dealt with, but we caught the manager rolling her eyes to her colleague. Likewise, a member of our party who is smoker, left the restaurant to smoke outside. The manager closed the restaurant doors, rolled her eyes again, and then very obviously started to wave her hands to move the air away from her. This sort of attitude and conduct is unbecoming, childish and serves only to alienate the customer. I doubt we will return."
