"After a great experience on her first recent Groupon deal here, my friend bought the same deal and arranged to go again there were six of us. The offer was 2 courses and a bottle wine between 2. 1 From reception, we were directed to a lift, to go up one floor and 'follow ' the blue signs. Reception staff offered a guide but we felt we should be OK.... There was no blue sign as we got out of the lift ... So we milled about a bit, then split up and explored! 2 of us went down a long corridor and found a sign which took us down a few flights of stairs!? God knows where the others went as they arrived 5 minutes later Bear in mind one of our party cannot walk far. Eventually, we found the restaurant and we were were ushered to our table right at the end, in a cold, dimly lit area, opposite what must be the breakfast hotplate area. It was not very pleasant. The chairs and tables were 'tired '. There was a heater however, which we quickly switched on; but we didnt really get totally warmed up. The waiting staff were lovely though. We were given the menu which was dramatically reduced from the previous visit, to 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 desserts. £7 extra for 3 courses . We were shocked and disappointed in te lack of choice compared to the choices advertised. When we came to order wine it was House white, rose or red again no choice unlike previous visit. It was the last straw and my friend, embarrassed after raving about her last visit , asked to speak to the manager. She calmly but firmly told him of her previous visit; the extent of the menu and wine choices; compared to the choices on this ocassion on the same deal, and those as advertised on Groupon. He blamed Groupon and said we should complain to them as paraphrasing here the till/computer wouldn 't let him enter choices outside the Groupon menu as printed. We asked if we could pay more for a different choice as last time was £5 extra for steak . He would mot allow that. The food when it came was OK, though portions were small. The white wine was awful, so we changed 2 bottles to Rose which was only marginally better. 2 of the party ordered beers, and the manager, after prompting, agreed to give 50% off the beers. After her great original experience, my friend had also, unfortunately, bought another Groupon deal for a spa day. After reading reviews for the Spa, she 's not looking forward to that! So, my advice is Don 't buy a Groupon deal for this hotel. Don 't book until renovations are complete."

"Really friendly staff: Nathaniel, Jack and Karen. Karen made our food. Offered us all the options, didn't mind when we wanted extras and smiled whilst explaining the options. Jack took our payment and brought our food and drinks to the table because we couldn't carry it. Nathaniel cleared our table once finished. All service with a smile and although quiet, they were all busy keeping the venue clean for anyone coming in. Delicious food too, great value for money!"

"Was having a really good evening in Spoons this past Monday, always have a really good evening in Spoons. The food was great and the serving staff were wonderful. However, towards 7/8 a older gentleman in his 50 's with tattoos wearing a baseball cap began serving behind the bar. He was extremely loud, singing about college scum and even saying some of the customers that evening were scum, at one point I witnessed him shake a can of fizzy lemonade and hand it over to be served to a table. He kept making comments such as Scruffiest town in the north east and it expects f ING table service. And other negative, rude comments. In the end, our group decided to leave early due to his comments and how he was making us feel unwelcome. Definitely will not be staying if I see that particular bartender again. The rest were absolutely lovely!"

"I went here over the weekend after finding them on deliveroo. I ordered a takeaway which was good. Good enough for me to pop down and have a meal. Saturday and they are busy but I'm promptly taken to a table. I ordered at the till and waited for my starters. 15 minutes and I'm tucking into my BBQ wings. Sweet and smokey, very tasty and cooked well. I ordered a takone burger which was great. My mate ordered a classic with Jalepenos and he also loved it. I ordered sweet potato fries which weren't really my cup of tea so I stole some chunky fries from my not so happy friend. Can't fault the service or the food. The staff were attentive and also good company. We spoke to J who was a funny guy. Thanks J and thanks Loaded. We shall meet again soon."

"This was our first time at this restaurant and we had a bit of trouble finding parking, but eventually found a spot on a side street. When we walked in, it was quiet and we sat near the window. After ordering drinks, we realized there was an awkward tension when the regular customers arrived and found their usual seats taken. They gave us looks of disapproval for sitting in their spots. The lady behind the bar was placing out what we thought were menus, but they turned out to be little place card holders with the word "Regulars" written on all of them. It was strange and made us feel unwelcome as newcomers to the area. We finished our drinks quickly and decided to go to a different place across the street to continue our evening. We felt uncomfortable with the stares and judgment from the regular customers. It was not a neighborhood bar where everyone is welcome, but rather a space where we were made to feel like outsiders for sitting in a regulars' seat."

"I'm feeling somewhat ambivalent about my experience. The walnut and aubergine dip was delicious, but we had to send it back because we found two hairs in it. However, they quickly replaced it, and the new one was fantastic. The chicken wing starter was a definite highlight! The main courses were all tasty, though we thought they could use a bit more salt, but they were still very enjoyable. The baklava was excellent, and the tea was absolutely wonderful. I would definitely recommend Pistachio over Persian Empire for anyone seeking high-quality Persian cuisine that doesn't take shortcuts."

"We've ordered for the 3rd time burgers for delivery and so far these were the best burgers we've tried, delivered home. : Meat is seasoned properly, lots of topings to choose, bun is soft, we simply have nothing to add, just delicious! Spiced chicken strips also very good and we love the blue cheese dip!!! Update, 29th Jan 2020 nothing changed after another 3 months from the previous review. Burgers are even better, though, and spicy chicken strips rule! Although we are a bit difficult clients, because we order to Croydon, guys are super nice and add our post code everytime and food always arrives warm and tasty! You've made our evening better again, thanks! :"

"We ordered from this restaurant via Deliveroo, and after that experience, we were eager to dine in if there was availability. We were quite surprised to see the restaurant rated at only 2.6 stars on Google, as that doesn't accurately reflect the quality of the food. The buffalo wings were delicious; while they weren't particularly crispy and were fairly simple, the buffalo sauce elevated them and the chicken quality was much better than many other questionable chicken places. The fish finger burger, double bacon cheeseburger, and buttermilk chicken burger were all excellent as well, arriving hot and fresh rather than the cold, pre-packaged items often delivered from other places. I highly recommend trying this restaurant! Also, a note for the team: the flat pack packaging is quite large."
