"on a busy Friday night for something to eat and were sitting on a high table left the bar, but were then quickly moved to a big stand near the middle, as a reservation was canceled, which was great. my friend and I love eating tapas style and decided to share a selection of starters. everything was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. cocktails and coffee also top notch! wonderful, friendly staff! some beautiful artworks that they have on the walls. highly recommended and will definitely be back!"

"we have visited a few times now, and every time there was nothing wrong. this is a beautiful, historical pub, in the center of the village, with a quirky fountain in the bottom of the bar. the bardame and the waiter are beautiful and friendly. the owners, alyson and matteo, are super, come and chat us at our first visit, take the time, we really welcome. eating is great, much better than they would expect in a pub. everything cooked to order and perfection. what makes the red lion apart for me, is the great selection of beer, cheese and brot, which is made directly there on the spatial areas, enjoy a pint and a melted cheese with acidic teigbrot, knowing that everything was born in the pub, how is this for a CO2 footprint?!"

"We are staying just down the road and we're looking for a nice local pub for a drink and some food, so we popped in on Friday evening. The first thing that we both noticed straight away, was how busy it was. This is not a criticism as it was so nice to see a full pub on a Friday night, with what was obviously lots of regulars having a drink or two. Very refreshing and everyone seemed to know each other. The landlady was very warm and friendly and we felt very welcome. They also loved our dog, Bert, but that's a gimme really, as he's so friendly. A few decent ales on tap but to be honest, the real star of the show was the food. A very decent menu offering at very fair prices. We both chose the steak and kidney pudding with chips and it did not disappoint. The crust was just like my Mum used to make and the filling, gorgeous steak, kidney and gravy, was from top to bottom. A full and stunning pud which we both enjoyed so much. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone and if we are local again, we'll be back"

"Had a great meal here whilst staying in London on a business trip. Visited on a Wednesday night with our table booked for 19:00. It was fairly quiet but got slightly busier as the evening went on. The service was excellent, very attentive without being overbearing. The sharing platter to start was very nice. Had the Hangar Steak as a main which was excellent, not a bit of fat on it and cooked to perfection. Wasn't all that impressed by the dessert menu, but that's just personal preference. Would definitely visit again."

"this is a wonderful place. We look forward to seeing that we are going. we are rarely visitors as we only go here when we travel to armagh to go to the marketplace theatre and with kovid it is only our third visit. in about three years, so they don't make much of a living on us. we have never been disappointed here and have really enjoyed our last visit. they receive the meaning of hospitality: the greeting is warm, the eating is great and the whole personal charming. I chose a steak chip, but it was a scarce thing to a delicious sounding vegetarian risotto, but it was my third din in 4 days with the other two not meat, so steak it was. I asked for medium, I have medium. the flesh was really tasteful. I asked for English senf (best in the world) and it was a yes and I tipped the tweeper rings for taboos and it was no problem. only in order to pass on the number of so-called steak houses, which have not been English, is as exaggerated as it is unacceptable. the tasty steak had a bacon jam on top. I never heard of it. it was salty, sweet so speck, balsamico vinegar perhaps sugar, I ate it all, although my personal preference remains senf. I would like to try it as a spread on roasted crumbs with a slightly fried egg above. the only thing I would change in my meal is the pfeffer sauce, but again it is personal taste as I would add double cream and much more black pfeffer. my wife decided to laugh and she explained it delicious. everything in all in a cozy environment. Hopefully we'll be back sooner than later."

"What a great find down in the old lanes of Seaford an unpretentious , cosy atmosphere of a restaurant pub, with the friendliest of barmaids, and landlord. We even bumped into the chef outside (compliments to him for the tasty grub consumed ! Went there with my son and still being a bit nervous about dining in public with the recent covid lockdown, we were put at ease with fantastic covid measures in place (temperature taken, taking contact details and then we quickly moved on to eating like kings two evenings in a row (eat out to help out scheme, which on a budget for a few days down by the coast seemed too good to be true (although the normal menu prices were entirely reasonable aside from this!! recommend the chicken wings/blue cheese dip and the delicious steak, with homemade onion rings. When we were there , the other clientele were made up of older couples, families, and groups of men belonging to some kind of club all very convivial and non intimidating the vibe was very relaxed and everyone seemed happy , chatty and catered to. I only wish I can visit in the colder months when they have the roaring fires going after a walk along a winter windswept seafront I bet it’s like a cosy blanket entering into The Cinque Port."

"This is the third time that we have eaten in the Smoke House and I must say that every time we have eaten there, the quality of food, service and ambience was all excellent, this place can never please. Last night we shared the Calimari as a starter, Calimari was perfectly cooked and came with the most delicious garlic sauce. The food was hotly picked, which is also a creditor on a frosty January evening. For the net we both chose the pork ribs that just melted in our mouth and accompanied the BBQ sauce it was really tangy, the only bottom I was too full to complete it all. I would recommend this restaurant we definitely return."

"We had a quick pre show dinner and drinks. And then came back afterwards for drinks again. Pre show, the place was super packed. There was a 15 minute wait for drinks orders. The bar staff were completely overwhelmed. The queue was like during a football game halftime. Incidently there was the FA Cup final on TV. We had the burger, steak, crab salad and pizza. Overall the food is ok. A bit bland, to be honest. I put it down to the place and bar and kitchen just being super overwhelmed. But think it's not the firs time they face this, so can should do better. Drinks took longer to come than food. And we got wrong order first, then the correct order. They they tried to charge us for the incorrect drinks as well. Was odd. The space overall is good, just need to sort out the service."

"Firstly I’d like to mention I never leave poor or average reviews. The House margaritas were some of the worst I’ve had, excessively sweet! I ordered the cauliflower starter, which was cold, I also ordered the jackfruit tacos which didn’t arrive until I asked about them by which time my partner had almost already finished his average meal, which he suspects may contain Uncle Bens Mexican rice. I’m not yet sure how the tacos taste though as I’m still waiting for them whilst writing this "

"I made the mistake of bringing my auntie here (who has come for a holiday) thinking we were going to have a nice meal out. We were greeted and served by an old man who seemed to be the manager there First we walked in and the man kept asking us what we want without letting us look at the menu properly, rushed us so we ordered very quickly. looking around the restaurant and there’s spider webs in the corners, the cutlery was unclean and the tables were almost dusty. Our drinks came and there was lipstick marks on the cups. At this point we knew we made a BIG mistake by coming here, the food came (2 wraps and chips) and was very average, on top of that the plated looked dirty and it instantly put us off our food. Thankfully it was time to pay. the guy tried to process the payment through three card machine and there was a connection error, we had 2 cards which were credit cards and for about 30 minutes he was trying again and again, he didn’t even apologise for wasting our time or any inconvenience all he cared about was getting his £20 and finally after half an hour one of the payments went through. Still no apology. Worst experience ever, we went to McDonald’s after as we were still hungry They also charged us 12% service charge for the worst service I’ve had. Would not recommend"

"Had lunch in the hotel for the first time in years. Style hasn't changed, dark theme, some may say intimate. Lunch was excellent if on the more expensive side. Small portions, so definitely need side dishes. Nice touch was the complimentary bread delicious tomato goat cheese dip. Waiter attentive friendly, quietly picked up my wife's cream intolerance came back with potential alternatives to menu dishes, no hassle, quietly efficient. PS plenty of EV chargers on site ."

"I always enjoy the burgers at GBK, though I can never finish them. Food: 4.0 I recently opted for the blue cheese burger at the Spitalfields location, and it was truly delicious! That being said, I attribute my inability to finish the meal to the cheese. I only asked for the 1 portion. . . I can only imagine how rich the two portions of blue cheese is! The skinny chips were delicious as always. If crisps and chips had a baby, that baby would be the GBK skinny chip! So cute, crispy, and tasty! My partner in crime shared a chocolate milkshake with me (seriously, kudos if you can finish one of those behemoths! The flavour was great wonderfully creamy and chocolatey. That being said, I found the chocolate sprinkles scattered throughout more annoying that anything. They don't add anything to the flavour, just an unexpected crunch I never get used to. For whatever reason, I don't like my drinks crunchy! Their strawberry milkshakes, though those are amazing! Service/ Ambiance: 3.0 The ambiance and the service are pretty interlinked in this case, so I'm rating them as one. I'm not a huge fan of this location. It is huge, but somehow completely crammed at all times. It has a feeling of being chaotic. The servers always seem a bit confused. People get pushy. They also wouldn't accept my taste card, so that was obviously pretty devastating. I'll probably be back. But the next time I want a GBK burger I may get it to takeaway."

"After a great experience on her first recent Groupon deal here, my friend bought the same deal and arranged to go again there were six of us. The offer was 2 courses and a bottle wine between 2. 1 From reception, we were directed to a lift, to go up one floor and 'follow ' the blue signs. Reception staff offered a guide but we felt we should be OK.... There was no blue sign as we got out of the lift ... So we milled about a bit, then split up and explored! 2 of us went down a long corridor and found a sign which took us down a few flights of stairs!? God knows where the others went as they arrived 5 minutes later Bear in mind one of our party cannot walk far. Eventually, we found the restaurant and we were were ushered to our table right at the end, in a cold, dimly lit area, opposite what must be the breakfast hotplate area. It was not very pleasant. The chairs and tables were 'tired '. There was a heater however, which we quickly switched on; but we didnt really get totally warmed up. The waiting staff were lovely though. We were given the menu which was dramatically reduced from the previous visit, to 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 desserts. £7 extra for 3 courses . We were shocked and disappointed in te lack of choice compared to the choices advertised. When we came to order wine it was House white, rose or red again no choice unlike previous visit. It was the last straw and my friend, embarrassed after raving about her last visit , asked to speak to the manager. She calmly but firmly told him of her previous visit; the extent of the menu and wine choices; compared to the choices on this ocassion on the same deal, and those as advertised on Groupon. He blamed Groupon and said we should complain to them as paraphrasing here the till/computer wouldn 't let him enter choices outside the Groupon menu as printed. We asked if we could pay more for a different choice as last time was £5 extra for steak . He would mot allow that. The food when it came was OK, though portions were small. The white wine was awful, so we changed 2 bottles to Rose which was only marginally better. 2 of the party ordered beers, and the manager, after prompting, agreed to give 50% off the beers. After her great original experience, my friend had also, unfortunately, bought another Groupon deal for a spa day. After reading reviews for the Spa, she 's not looking forward to that! So, my advice is Don 't buy a Groupon deal for this hotel. Don 't book until renovations are complete."

"We had the Prince Charles is overrated and sadly that was an apt description of our meal. We last went to 7Bone 5 years ago and thought we would go back as fancied a proper burger. The burger arrived with chilli cheese chips and frickles. The burger itself was OK but it was served in a bread roll that showed no vestige of having even been shown a toaster or grill and had gone so soggy at the bottom it stuck to the burger with a wallpaper paste type consistency. I peeled the burger from said roll and ate that...I was hungry. The chilli cheese chips, what can I say! Insipid, lack lustre with a splodge of chilli cheese dumped over the top. If the above wasn't enough the biggest disappointment was the frickles. Last time we had them they were succulent long slices coated in a light tempura batter and we couldn't get enough of them they were so delish. This time the were bits of gherkin cut across ways and embedded literally in a hard batter. I had to cut them out of the batter to eat and gave up in the end it was too much of a chore for so little result. The blue cheese dip that accompanied the frickles had no taste of blue cheese and was so runny it dripped all over the place when used. Left for a few minutes and an oily layer appeared on the surface, not at all inviting. The place was buzzing and the service was excellent hence the 3 stars. We won't be returning."

"I went here over the weekend after finding them on deliveroo. I ordered a takeaway which was good. Good enough for me to pop down and have a meal. Saturday and they are busy but I'm promptly taken to a table. I ordered at the till and waited for my starters. 15 minutes and I'm tucking into my BBQ wings. Sweet and smokey, very tasty and cooked well. I ordered a takone burger which was great. My mate ordered a classic with Jalepenos and he also loved it. I ordered sweet potato fries which weren't really my cup of tea so I stole some chunky fries from my not so happy friend. Can't fault the service or the food. The staff were attentive and also good company. We spoke to J who was a funny guy. Thanks J and thanks Loaded. We shall meet again soon."

"Heard great things about Pistachio so wanted to give it a try. Not an expansive menu but a few meat, veggie and gluten free options. The meal consists of lots of small sharing/dipping plates that you eat with fresh toasted bread. The cheese dip was delicious and wings were good. Some very similar flavours across some of the other dishes though and the meatballs were small and disappointing. Also, avoid the duck. Perhaps the smallest sliver of meat sitting among lot of beans. Considering that dish alone was almost 12 quid, we felt a bit cheated. Overall, tasty but over priced and not enough variation to keep us coming back."

"We've ordered for the 3rd time burgers for delivery and so far these were the best burgers we've tried, delivered home. : Meat is seasoned properly, lots of topings to choose, bun is soft, we simply have nothing to add, just delicious! Spiced chicken strips also very good and we love the blue cheese dip!!! Update, 29th Jan 2020 nothing changed after another 3 months from the previous review. Burgers are even better, though, and spicy chicken strips rule! Although we are a bit difficult clients, because we order to Croydon, guys are super nice and add our post code everytime and food always arrives warm and tasty! You've made our evening better again, thanks! :"

"This was our first time at this restaurant and we had a bit of trouble finding parking, but eventually found a spot on a side street. When we walked in, it was quiet and we sat near the window. After ordering drinks, we realized there was an awkward tension when the regular customers arrived and found their usual seats taken. They gave us looks of disapproval for sitting in their spots. The lady behind the bar was placing out what we thought were menus, but they turned out to be little place card holders with the word "Regulars" written on all of them. It was strange and made us feel unwelcome as newcomers to the area. We finished our drinks quickly and decided to go to a different place across the street to continue our evening. We felt uncomfortable with the stares and judgment from the regular customers. It was not a neighborhood bar where everyone is welcome, but rather a space where we were made to feel like outsiders for sitting in a regulars' seat."
