"We celebrated a birthday at this restaurant and were extremely disappointed. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty, we had to repeatedly grab the attention of the waitstaff to receive any service. The garlic bread with cheese was essentially a large pizza crust with cheese and garlic spread on top, which was not appealing. One of us ordered a calzone which was dry and lacking in filling. The wine, once we were finally served it, appeared to be watered down. Overall, we were not satisfied with our experience and do not plan to return."

"Before my walk I went into the cafe to but a Cappuccino. Lots of chatter going on between the girls behind the till before they decided to attend to the customer. I asked for a large cup yet the two young girls served me a small cup. I looked at them, held my drink in the air and said “is that large”? One of the girls said straight away in an abrupt manner “you just said cappuccino”. I thought the comment was rude, dismissive and an attempt to absolve herself from making a mistake. She was clearly a young girl with a poor work ethic. Hopefully she will learn in future how to treat a customer. As I walked out I responded.. “this wasn’t my mistake here girls. I did ask for a large cappuccino” to which they looked at me gasping with open mouths as if I had just walked in with a shotgun. I’m not really upset about the drink. What grinded my gears was that the young girl tried to say it was my fault. Will probably get coffee again there but might take a more direct, no nonsense attitude with the staff."

"Pizza Express, as a chain, has always been one of my favourite places. As a child, I adored going here with my family as a rare treat. As a passionate vegan with coeliac disease and a soy intolerance, I am always hesitant to eat out. But Pizza Express is one of the very few places that actually has a LARGE selection for vegans- even for me! I had a wonderful starter of gluten free doughballs, I couldn't choose whether to have the balsamic oil or the harissa dip, so the kind waitress allowed me to have both. I then had a gorgeous gluten free vegan pizza- with delicious vegan mozzarella- with pine nuts, red onions and artichokes. I spoke with the manager for some time who impressed me with his passion for food, hygiene and being able to accommodate all dietary requirements. He assured me that he had done his research and was able to successfully quote statistics relating to veganism. I could tell that he cared very deeply about supporting people from all walks of life. He even offered to make my vegan mum something that wasn't on the menu- and hadn't been for some time- just because she casually mentioned that it was her favourite. If you go somewhere in Hertford today, I truly recommend Pizza Express. They cook with passion here!"

"we went in carlisle to the birthday dinner of my sohnes after pizza express. it is clean and well designed and the staff was happy courtesy and efficient. eating was really nice and perfectly cooked. our waitress was beautiful and doesn't talk much time with our two children especially the oldest as it was his birthday. the children's activity packs both held children for the whole time we were in the restaurant and they were different from those we were given a few weeks ago at our last visit. the only negative (and they are both quite small), the seat that we were given was right next to the door and every time it was opened there was a really cold air bubble. the second negatiw was the volume of the music. Usually it is s beautiful background level, but from some reason it was really loud on this particular day. I don't know if it was a day off while we were a weekday each time. it made me the dinge difficult, as I wear a hearing device and too many background noises, it is very difficult for me to focus on conversations. overall we had a nice time and the birthday boy enjoyed very much."

"We visited this restaurant last night, the first time in a few years. The service was good and friendly. The pate was okay, and the dough balls were also just okay. The calzone and mushroom risotto were average, while the gnocchi was okay. Overall, the food was nothing special. The prices were quite high, with beers costing £7.50 each and Sprites priced at £4.75. We ended up spending £162 for four people, including a bottle of mid-priced wine. We were not impressed enough to come back in a hurry."

"This has seriously been the worst service I've received in years .i was greeted by a young girl whom hadn't a clue what was going on .she wasnt able to allocate us a seat so we just sat at the nearest table .we ordered a bottle of wine and she promptly took payment .lots of tables with no drinks on .people walking out as waiting too long .4 staff all milling around doing nothing .waited 20 mins for our drinks so decided to go to the bar and ask “.yes they will be with you shortly “ 10 minutes later they arrived so half an hours wait for a bottle of wine .abs ridiculous .there is abs NO customer service .the only quick service was when they took payment!!!! Its being run by collage kids but it needs someone in there to organise the staff .such a shame as the decor is lovely but customer service has to come first .always greet and acknowledge your customers .very important ."

"Really enjoyed our first night in the area, finding this adorable pub around the corner from our hotel. Our servers Billy and Hugo were fun, funny, made great recommendations and a birthday celebration a night to remember. "I ordered some light dessert bites at 11:20 PM on a Monday night with an estimated arrival time of 11:40 PM, which I found to be optimistic considering the restaurant is only a 15-minute drive from my location. At midnight, I called for an updated arrival time and was informed that the driver had already left and would be arriving shortly. By 12:20 AM, I called again and was placed on hold while they tried to reach the driver. Eventually, the driver arrived, seeming unaware of the previous issues. He handed me the food, which included cold milk and cream-based desserts that were not properly packaged and had become warm and mushy. As he handed me the food, the bag ripped and I dropped a milkshake on the floor, luckily it was wrapped in clingfilm and remained intact. I tried to discuss the issues with the driver while still on the phone with the restaurant, but it seemed to be dismissed as a simple misunderstanding. Ultimately, I should have trusted my instincts and sent the food back as the hot food was cold, the cold food was warm, and the cookies were burnt. Overall, not worth the wait and hassle in my opinion."

"was back in helensburgh for the day to see my mother and dad. we decided to have a nice day and enjoyed the suns we would go for a meal in the new restaurant. when we were a party of 3, I couldn't book a table, so it was about the house, but it wasn't a problem at all, as we sat with menus within minutes after arrival. overall it was very nice. long the drunken memories of the river bank and instead an authentic, lively and very classic Italian bistro restaurant. it was beautifully designed, restored to the original features of the building. I also loved the big wood stove on the full view to see her pizza cook. the staff was friendly and very friendly, the atmosphere was nice and relaxed and the food was fresh and very tasty. the menu is small and perfectly shaped and there was nothing that I would not like to eat, at the end enjoyed my parents 2 of the Risotto dishes and I had pizza, all were freshly cooked to order that was made for an excellent meal and the gelato for pudding was beautiful. my father was also very pleased to see one of his favorite Italian red wines on the menu (he is a massive weinbuff) and used as I was the named driver. great end on a sunny day and would really recommend. x"

"Lovely looking cafe in Glasgow's West End. I had haddock with some coleslaw, my partner had burger and chips, and we both had a mug of tea each. My haddock initially had a strange taste and I soon realised it was the tartare sauce. It was horrible! I ate what I could of the rest but the tartare sauce left a nasty taste in my mouth. That said, I had a few chips from my girlfriend's plate and they were very nice. No grease at all, and in fairness the fish wasn't greasy either. My girlfriend didn't really enjoy her burger saying that the bun didn't taste great and the Gold Star tomato ketchup wasn't great either. The lady who served us though was so welcoming and friendly and a credit to this place. She was lovely and the tip we gave was for her. The cafe is basic but equally quite stylish with exposed brickwork lit up which I liked, and the prices were OK. Please, please, please though get rid of them tartare sauce sachets. I know Gold Star tomato ketchup is what chippies in Scotland use so I can't really suggest changing. I did like the coleslaw though. Food. 6/10 Service. 10/10"

"Went in for just coffee, ended up having a couple of cocktails and a small taste of the food on offer. We were not disappointed. We tried a small fish and meat plater both were well served and were sufficient for the four of us to enjoy a small snack of salmon smoked trout fish, pickle or spicy meats all garnished with a small salad and bread. Not the best of descriptions I'll grant you but suffice to say our impromptu coffee turned out very nice indeed."

"This would not look out of place as a trendy city bar. Really well presented and a lot of thought had gone onto the decor and menu. Backed up by friendly staff and a really nice experience. We stopped here for breakfast before heading up to Sperrins for a hike and well worth the trip."
