"I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. I made a reservation for a large family dinner to celebrate my partner's 40th birthday, and when we arrived, the restaurant was closed! Despite accepting our booking, we were left with nowhere to go. Thankfully, we found a table at a fantastic place called Paradies in the West End, which I highly recommend. The service was dreadful; I reached out to them on Facebook and they read my message but chose to ignore it. There was a half-hearted note on the door explaining that a pipe had burst. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and I wouldn't recommend this restaurant."

"the calamari was nicely cooked, no rubber bands here, the teig was super light, almost tempura like. the linguini with mönchsfisch and garnel was incredible. again the seafood was perfectly cooked, the pasta was al-dente and the spicy tomato sauce really had a kick. my daughter had the meatballs and penne, which was very rich and extremely tasty. we all ate very well, and our waiter arbi was good fun and attentive. 3 meals, all with 3 curses, for £100.00, we have a 15% tip happy. some reviews mention here not optional service fee this was not at location and place when we visited mai 2022. highly recommended. we're coming back."

"Vapiano is an Italian food chain with many restaurants widely spread across Europe. This place is seriously a saviour for all Jains travelling to UK or Europe, because not only is their dough egg free, but their pizza sauce is also made WITHOUT onion garlic by default. I seriously had no idea what my taste buds were in for, when I had my first pizza at Vapiano. I opted for the jalapeño and the bell pepper pizza. To say I loved it that would be an understatement. Utterly lip smacking and SO light. Worth every penny!"

"NO PARKING!! Sadly I have to give it a 4 stars because it wasn’t clean. Our table wasn’t clean, sticky and salt or something like that all over it and every time we went to the bar order beer, there was either empty glasses sitting there or full beers but not one around and they were not busy. I want to give it a 5 stars, I do! Fair prices on the beers for their quality and they were good beers. And really we did have great interaction with the employees. One of them who was off shift came and talked to us. Obviously we’re tourists…. But I would go back."

"I had great hopes for a great meal as I’d had a lovely meal in York Zizzi having just been diagnosed with gluten and dairy intolerance. The waitress there was really helpful and I was impressed that much of the menu could be adapted to my diet. Unfortunately when I went to the Mailbox Zizzi in Birmingham. I felt rather disappointed. The servers were disinterested and just gave me a folder with spreadsheets randomly inserted and was left to try and work out what I could have. Some sort of colour coding would have been useful to divide the different courses. The spreadsheets would have been easier to read if they were presented in book form where you didn’t have to keep rotating the folder round sideways to read it. As it turned out there was minimal choice for me. No gluten free pizzas. I had King prawn pasta only 3 4 prawns small potion for about £15. In York I’d been offered some complimentary gluten free pasta crisps. However in Birmingham I noted they were £2.95 but I was told they were cooked in the same pan as ordinary pasta so I couldn’t have them. All in all a very ordinary meal with disinterested staff."

"I visited this charming restaurant yesterday with my wonderful partner. It’s a beautiful little spot, classy and elegant, with outstanding food quality and extremely professional service. They truly go above and beyond to ensure your comfort. My partner absolutely loved it, and the prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend it, especially for a romantic dinner. Also, congratulations to the lovely older couple at the next table; I believe they were celebrating their long marriage—bless them!"

"Great pizzas here and lovely staff but no atmosphere and poor decor I'm afraid! We were there on Friday night at 7pm and loads of Deliveroo drivers came and went. During our meal, one other family came in and left quite quickly. It is quite cosy but has loads of potential to have some nice art or murals on the wall. The staff were all lovely and made a fuss of our son and the pizzas were really tasty with loads of toppings. Thanks"

"This review is slightly old.. I had dicorved this plase close by to my house in St Johns, they had recently opened up and is a quaint family run joint.. I decided to give it a go on a monday evening for a late lunch early dinner with a friend... I was craving some good italian food.. nothing special with out burning a hole in my pocket... it deivered to the T really good service... We had a cheese pizza and a lasagne bolognese with a glass of wine each.. cost 15 quid per person which was not bad at all... the food was decent but nothing to rave about... expectations were met and we left as happy foodies"

"I have visited the Crooked Chimney many times in the past, but not in recent years. I'm not sure if it has changed ownership, but based on my experience this time, I would not return. Initially, they did not have our reservation, despite it being confirmed through OpenTable. However, since it was not busy, they were able to find a table for us. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was poor. We ordered three roast dinners and a child's pasta with garlic bread. The garlic bread was burnt, and the roast beef was tough and dry as if it had been reheated or left under a warmer for too long. The vegetables were cold and the roast vegetables were soggy. We were among the first customers in the restaurant at 12:15, but the food did not arrive until 1:00, leaving us little time to address the issues. I mentioned our dissatisfaction to the waitress as we left, and I observed another table sending their food back for the same reasons. Additionally, another couple left after being told there would be a 90-minute wait for food. The restaurant was cold, and we had to keep our coats on as there were no fires lit and no heating on. It's a shame because the Crooked Chimney used to be a nice bar/restaurant with good food."

"We have been to the chubby cherub several times, back when it was a small restaurant opposite AM:PM, and have always enjoyed our evenings here. The food was always excellent and the atmosphere too. However last night this wasn’t the case. We arrived for booking, to be told we were booked at (we def booked for so we went off to a nearby bar for a quick drink and came back at to be told our table wasn’t yet ready, and to stand over by the bar and wait. We got a wine list and ordered a bottle of red, and at we were shown to our table. Within of being seated and given menus (which were vastly different to the previous times we had been, very little choice for pasta etc which for an Italian restaurant was very odd) we were approached by different waitresses to take our order. We had to politely ask the waitress to give us some time to read the menu. Clearly that was a mistake as we then couldn’t get a waitress’ attention to place our order. Eventually we ordered starters, one of which wasn’t available(we weren’t informed of this when given the menu, I think its standard practice in most restaurants to inform customers of items not available/sold out) The starters of meatballs and Arancini arrived out, and we tucked in. The meatballs were dried out and totally tasteless and served on a bed of cos lettuce?! (See pic below)This in itself was soo weird. The Arancini had no taste at all and was very dry and stodgy. We decided at to call it a night, we cancelled our mains and asked for the bill. The manager came over and asked why, “did we have a family emergency or something?” We politely explained that the experience had gone from bad to worse, she kept looking around her as my husband was talking, totally distracted and disinterested in the complaint. We ended up paying for and finishing our wine and leaving, got home and ordered a delivery pizza. Not exactly the night out we had planned. There are a lot of really good restaurants in Belfast, a lot of competition, and we chose to spend our weekend off since December in the Chubby Cherub. Disappointed was an understatement and it’s safe to say we won’t be back. I should also say a friend of mine was here two weeks ago and didn’t have a good meal, she advised me to cancel my booking, but I thought her experience was a one off. Man was I wrong. Take my advice, take your money and go one of the amazing restaurants in Belfast, there are lots of them!"

"Visited for lunch on a day trip to Cowes. Its hidden gem, one of the few restaurants you must visit while visiting IOW. This was our second visit, but definitely not the last. Full of character, great atmosphere, buzzing. They were really busy, and because we didn't book table beforehand, we waited around 10 min for them to get one ready for us, but it was worth it. The food was incredible as always, with plenty of options. The stuff was great, very attentive. We'll be back."

"a walk along the southbank is all the better when it lands at gourmet pizza. Although very popular, it seems that they expect to sit in gp within 5 minutes and they will not be cramped. they have a covered outside area, although our group sits inside. decor is quite simple, so they try to get a seat my window opposite the water. my group (of 4) started with a plate of focaccia teig balls. the teig balls were delicious and had a 'spicy' chili diving sauce and an oil and vinegar sauce. the focaccia is not really worth getting. very simple focaccia and a small bowl oil and vinegar. to be fair, that's what was described in the menu, I just expected a more exciting piece of brot. the pizzas were very good. kruste is not too thin, beats are plentiful. all in all a very nice meal. my friend and I have actually shared an salat and a pizza and we were glad to see that the restaurant actually shared it for us! very cool! last judge better than their typical chain, not as good as the title would suggest."

"We’ve always enjoyed dining here, especially for the fresh, made-to-order pizzas and the fantastic atmosphere. The outdoor seating is one of the best around—it’s a lovely, picturesque spot to enjoy a meal. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, which adds to the overall experience. However, our recent visit for the Sunday roast was a major disappointment. The roast was incredibly bland, with the only noticeable flavor coming from the gravy. The pork option came with just a sliver of crackling, and the roast potatoes were barely roasted at all. While the lamb shank was cooked perfectly, it was still lacking in flavour. At £16-18 per person, the roast just isn’t worth it. We’ll stick to the pizza next time."

"I visited this restaurant last Sunday and tried their authentic Indian cuisine. I had Vadapav paired with some delicious masala tea and thoroughly enjoyed it! I definitely need to visit again to try out more of their dishes. The service was great, and the atmosphere was wonderful. I highly recommend trying their Pav Bhaji and Samosa. This restaurant is a must-visit for breakfast, with prices ranging from £1-10 per person."

"We arrived at the restaurant and waited for 10 minutes without being acknowledged, while the waitress stood next to us on her phone. A man, who turned out to be another waiter or manager, pushed my boyfriend out of the way to put menus on the table. When we asked if there was a table available, he said no and walked away. When he returned, we asked how long the wait would be, and he shrugged and said maybe 15 to 30 minutes. Five minutes later, he gestured towards a table covered in half empty drinks and used napkins, telling us to sit there. We decided to leave and went to KFC instead. I have never experienced anything like it before. I would suggest avoiding this place at all costs."

"I recommend trying the plain cheese pizza at this restaurant - it's delicious! I find that when we add meat toppings, it becomes too greasy."

"Went here for a date night after reading all the positive reviews.... We started with calamari which was actually delicious ....we 've had calamari in many different places and it was yummy!! We had drinks etc which were fine. But then we ordered the main.... We had the sea bass with spaghetti and the beef stroganoff, I have to say it was very basic food in my view, the space Spaghetti was cooked well but very oily and quite bland. Definitely needs more flavour, the beef stroganoff was 'meh ' the beef strips were the only redeeming factor in that dish, great beef. We didn 't even finish our food, so yh it wasn 't what we expected at all especially with all these reviews about 'feels like being in Italy ' is definitely NOT what was going though my mind. This is my personal option and experience of this place so try it for yourself you might just love it! But I 'll pass, especially since the food is so pricey, it was not worth it for us!"

"Should have been very good, BUT.... Went here with some friends who strongly recommended the special steak option, which they had had before were looking forward to again. They had it but my wife and I didn't, preferring to try something different. Their steaks arrived we could immediately tell they weren't as expected. Apparently they were tough didn't have much flavour. We commented on this to the waiter, who apologised continued with our meal. My wife my choices were much better. At the end of the meal, the waiter brought us the bill told us that the whole group of restaurants had returned their steaks to their suppliers! I checked the bill saw that we had been charged full price for ours! I queried this with the waiter who disappeared quite sheepishly returned with a revised bill with the steaks removed. I find this frankly unacceptable. When someone complains in a restaurant regarding food quality, I expect the restaurant to look into the problem, but then having found out that the group had returned all their steaks, the fact that they tried to charge us full price...."

"A recent birthday lunch with my 9 year old granddaughter and some friends, before a craft class at Hobbycraft was a great success. My daughter and I ordered a pizza for ourselves and the 5 girls had a good choice from the older children 's menu. Pizza Hut helped us all sing happy birthday to my granddaughter and provided a knife which was safe to use to cut some cake for the girls to take home. No mess to tidy up, the cooking was done for us and it was not an expensive lunch."
