"We came here as a family couple, toddler and newborn baby with a pram. We tried to get a table on a weekday evening, but it transpired most of the tables were booked. However the staff were very accommodating and endeavoured to fit us in. Eventually we ended up on the terrace at the back, which was fine for us, albeit it without the atmosphere of the main restaurant. We had a quick dinner (food came fairly promptly and everything was delicious. In particular, I would praise the melanzane parmigiana (baked aubergine in particular, and the children's option which was great value a small version of an adult pasta or pizza. Service was included (10% but I insisted on adding a bit more to the bill because the service was great."

"Disgusting... Ordered pepperoni pizza and burger via UberEats. Pizza arrived squashed to one side of the box (when the delivery guy saw it, he took another pizza from his bag and used his dirty hands to move it back saying that he doesn't want another client to see it like that.. The pepperoni' smelled like homeless person's feet and tasted sour. Burger tasted like old, dirty pan with a mountain of salt (trying to cover something and mayo, all between soggy, disintegrated bun. Both not edible"

"NO PARKING!! Sadly I have to give it a 4 stars because it wasn’t clean. Our table wasn’t clean, sticky and salt or something like that all over it and every time we went to the bar order beer, there was either empty glasses sitting there or full beers but not one around and they were not busy. I want to give it a 5 stars, I do! Fair prices on the beers for their quality and they were good beers. And really we did have great interaction with the employees. One of them who was off shift came and talked to us. Obviously we’re tourists…. But I would go back."

"From the moment we arrived I have to say the service was pretty terrible. It was a shame because they had contacted me via Instagram inviting me and my friends in for free pizza, we were really looking forward to it. We booked to watch the rugby too as the restaurant had advertised they were showing the games on the big screens. We arrived and we’re basically ignored for a while, I ended up approaching someone and saying I had a table booked. There were 2 of us there but we we’re waiting for another friends to arrive, the man out front strangely put us on a tiny table for 2 people, we said about how we have a third person coming but he didn’t seem bothered and told us he could move us when she arrived. This was very strange as they were barely busy, maybe 3 tables had people sat at. I also explained if we could be sat by a TV screen for the rugby. He didn’t asked for any details of my booking. We noticed a male customer asking for toilet paper for the men’s bathrooms. When my friend went to the bathroom she ended up coming straight out and asking for toilet paper. We waited 25 minutes while staff were just stood around or on their phones. I eventually went to check and still no toilet paper, we asked again. I looks like the man out from had to run to the corner shop to not only buy toilet roll but throughout the evening he could come back from Sainsbury's with cans of Guinness! The bathrooms were in a disgusting state, clearly not cleaned for a while. After sitting and waiting for some time for the rugby to come on I ended up asking if they’re putting it on. It was clear they couldn’t get the TV to work downstairs and the man said they’re only showing the last game which I just wish they told us before as our plan was to see both of the games. Meanwhile all of this is going on, we noticed the chef dinging the bell for food to be served from the hot plate and it being just sat there for 15 minutes. The chef ended up ringing the bell 3 or 4 times. I could go on really with how bad the service was. Put the bottle of wine down on the table didn’t offer to pour it, ignoring the telephone ringing all evening, we had to ask for everything (menus and for the table to be cleaned), not clearing tables….. There was 1 women who arrived to work later on in the evening who was slightly better. It’s a shame because the pizzas were good. When I looked at the reviews online it’s clear to say the reason they’re inviting so many people in is because of how bad it is. Step up your service and good luck to you"

"was really on a nice dinner with my son, who was very satisfied with his garlic brot with cheese kalzone pizza, while I was not all impressed by the gumy calamari and very bland king prawn with spaghetti, which in. a cream garlic sauce that just tasted like pure cream. the garnels were huge, but also tasteless. when we were in whom I suspected that the manager came to take our order, so I gave him my groupon voucher then he went away over minutes later I waved the waiter asked him to take my order when the manager seemed to have forgotten about us, although we were sitting practically under his nose. even without going too much detail, my evening meal made my body much faster than it needed to eat enough to say that I spent the rest of the evening in the toilet. as if I had really found a jewel of a restaurant, but it was the worst Italian food I had ever eaten."

"I'd give 4 1/2 if I could, The place was lovely and reasonably priced, the pizzas were nice but I have defiantly had better at that price. The Calamari wasn't the best, very greasy so I wouldn't order again but for the price point it was all probably about right. I would definitely recommend as it's always hard to find somewhere decent in touristy places and I would return and may before we head home."

"The dining experience was quite disappointing, with poor food quality and unappealing presentation. The noise level was unbearable due to a loud group that was seated after us, and nothing was done to address it. The waitress ignored me on three occasions, and at one point, she was actually rude. Unfortunately, this is the only vegan restaurant for miles, meaning there's little competition. Our first visit was so unpleasurable that I would not consider returning or recommending this place in the future."

"I have visited the Crooked Chimney many times in the past, but not in recent years. I'm not sure if it has changed ownership, but based on my experience this time, I would not return. Initially, they did not have our reservation, despite it being confirmed through OpenTable. However, since it was not busy, they were able to find a table for us. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was poor. We ordered three roast dinners and a child's pasta with garlic bread. The garlic bread was burnt, and the roast beef was tough and dry as if it had been reheated or left under a warmer for too long. The vegetables were cold and the roast vegetables were soggy. We were among the first customers in the restaurant at 12:15, but the food did not arrive until 1:00, leaving us little time to address the issues. I mentioned our dissatisfaction to the waitress as we left, and I observed another table sending their food back for the same reasons. Additionally, another couple left after being told there would be a 90-minute wait for food. The restaurant was cold, and we had to keep our coats on as there were no fires lit and no heating on. It's a shame because the Crooked Chimney used to be a nice bar/restaurant with good food."

"Been going here for years and not left a review, now it's time. Food was brilliant and the staff were very attentive but not overly attentive. I can't fault our experience. The chips are amazing as is the Pollo Creme with a bit of extra garlic in the sauce. Would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a couple of hours of nice ambiance and friendly staff."

"the calamari was nicely cooked, no rubber bands here, the teig was super light, almost tempura like. the linguini with mönchsfisch and garnel was incredible. again the seafood was perfectly cooked, the pasta was al-dente and the spicy tomato sauce really had a kick. my daughter had the meatballs and penne, which was very rich and extremely tasty. we all ate very well, and our waiter arbi was good fun and attentive. 3 meals, all with 3 curses, for £100.00, we have a 15% tip happy. some reviews mention here not optional service fee this was not at location and place when we visited mai 2022. highly recommended. we're coming back."

"I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. I made a reservation for a large family dinner to celebrate my partner's 40th birthday, and when we arrived, the restaurant was closed! Despite accepting our booking, we were left with nowhere to go. Thankfully, we found a table at a fantastic place called Paradies in the West End, which I highly recommend. The service was dreadful; I reached out to them on Facebook and they read my message but chose to ignore it. There was a half-hearted note on the door explaining that a pipe had burst. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and I wouldn't recommend this restaurant."

"We arrived at the restaurant and waited for 10 minutes without being acknowledged, while the waitress stood next to us on her phone. A man, who turned out to be another waiter or manager, pushed my boyfriend out of the way to put menus on the table. When we asked if there was a table available, he said no and walked away. When he returned, we asked how long the wait would be, and he shrugged and said maybe 15 to 30 minutes. Five minutes later, he gestured towards a table covered in half empty drinks and used napkins, telling us to sit there. We decided to leave and went to KFC instead. I have never experienced anything like it before. I would suggest avoiding this place at all costs."

"We have often had pizzas from here and always enjoyed them, so today, after a walk nearby with my husband and daughter, we dropped in, however we were quite hungry and so decided that a panini may be a better choice as it shouldn 't take so long to cook, how wrong we were! On the menu was a tuna, cheese and onion panini but as my daughter does not like onion, I ordered one without, the girl looked a little confused, as she only knows the paninis by name (Joan! so, I repeated One Joan but with no onion please I also ordered 2 Ruperts (ham and cheese paninis! We then waited 25 minutes, having commented that we could have gone home and made them ourselves by now. Strangely the paninis were made with pizza dough! (so not paninis at all then! this made them extremely thin indeed, with not much filling to make up for it. The 'Joan ' came complete with onions despite having asked for it without (twice . All three of us were left very unimpressed and came away hungry. Stick to pizzas guys!"

"Great pizzas here and lovely staff but no atmosphere and poor decor I'm afraid! We were there on Friday night at 7pm and loads of Deliveroo drivers came and went. During our meal, one other family came in and left quite quickly. It is quite cosy but has loads of potential to have some nice art or murals on the wall. The staff were all lovely and made a fuss of our son and the pizzas were really tasty with loads of toppings. Thanks"

"I had great hopes for a great meal as I’d had a lovely meal in York Zizzi having just been diagnosed with gluten and dairy intolerance. The waitress there was really helpful and I was impressed that much of the menu could be adapted to my diet. Unfortunately when I went to the Mailbox Zizzi in Birmingham. I felt rather disappointed. The servers were disinterested and just gave me a folder with spreadsheets randomly inserted and was left to try and work out what I could have. Some sort of colour coding would have been useful to divide the different courses. The spreadsheets would have been easier to read if they were presented in book form where you didn’t have to keep rotating the folder round sideways to read it. As it turned out there was minimal choice for me. No gluten free pizzas. I had King prawn pasta only 3 4 prawns small potion for about £15. In York I’d been offered some complimentary gluten free pasta crisps. However in Birmingham I noted they were £2.95 but I was told they were cooked in the same pan as ordinary pasta so I couldn’t have them. All in all a very ordinary meal with disinterested staff."

"I had a fantastic and unexpected evening at this restaurant. I had never been before, but I will definitely be returning. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, and the service was top-notch. Despite being busy, the atmosphere was relaxing. The staff were friendly and accommodating, earning an A+ and five stars in my book."

"Visited for lunch on a day trip to Cowes. Its hidden gem, one of the few restaurants you must visit while visiting IOW. This was our second visit, but definitely not the last. Full of character, great atmosphere, buzzing. They were really busy, and because we didn't book table beforehand, we waited around 10 min for them to get one ready for us, but it was worth it. The food was incredible as always, with plenty of options. The stuff was great, very attentive. We'll be back."

"a walk along the southbank is all the better when it lands at gourmet pizza. Although very popular, it seems that they expect to sit in gp within 5 minutes and they will not be cramped. they have a covered outside area, although our group sits inside. decor is quite simple, so they try to get a seat my window opposite the water. my group (of 4) started with a plate of focaccia teig balls. the teig balls were delicious and had a 'spicy' chili diving sauce and an oil and vinegar sauce. the focaccia is not really worth getting. very simple focaccia and a small bowl oil and vinegar. to be fair, that's what was described in the menu, I just expected a more exciting piece of brot. the pizzas were very good. kruste is not too thin, beats are plentiful. all in all a very nice meal. my friend and I have actually shared an salat and a pizza and we were glad to see that the restaurant actually shared it for us! very cool! last judge better than their typical chain, not as good as the title would suggest."
