"Visited with friends for an evening meal after hearing good reviews about the place. As usual I'll get the moans out of the way first, there are only 2 but unfortunately they are both about the meal.. I thought being an Italian restaurant having calamari would be a safe bet, wrong, it was so overcooked it was like chewing elastic bands. Mains, was a king prawn dish with pasta. It came with chips, unfortunately I was that hungry, I'd eaten half of it before I realised, the actual king prawn dish was lovely, but who has an Italian dish with chips? On the plus side, the place itself is nice, clean and comfortable, the staff and nice and friendly and the service was good, not having to wait long for your meal, there was also a good selection of wines available."

"Amazing restaurant. We made a reservation for my husband's birthday and what a delight. we had a garlic pizza bread starter to share which has options to add various toppings, ours included tomatoes, parmesan, balsamic vinegar, delicious. Mains were a beautifully cooked fillet medium rare, I was told by the waiter (very polite and good service) that chef would refuse to cook if I wanted it cooked any more than medium rare. I like this approach and I see why he said it. The steak was stunning. My husband had the pork very delicious. Somehow we fitted in desert too. Will definitely be coming back. The only reason I put 4 star on atmosphere was at times the music reminded me, at times of my younger drinking days. Although it was quiet and we booked on line I can imagine it getting busy. Very good restaurant and are looking forward to visiting again for pizza next time. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4"

"Very poor, non friendly , slow to attend , did not make any attempt to engage the customer , very slow service. I could go on. Mussels started game with roughly six broken mussel shells, floating in a bath of tomato chopped onion with a few pieces of chilli, no accompanying bread, unceremoniously dumped on the table to start, was not asked if I enjoyed it just lifted when the waiting staff thought I had finished. Our first round of drinks (two cokes and bottle of sparkling water took that long to come we didn't get asked if we wanted another. Main courses tasted nice and was generous in size. First time I have went to an Italian based restaurant and there has not been a tirimisu on the menu.. £60 total and £5 tip which if I was on my own would not have left, I hope it goes to the chef for their efforts because it was much better than the waiting staff. Glad I am not a tourist"

"Booked for our daughter’s dinner celebration. Started badly with a surly welcome from the lady (R) at the front desk. When we asked for a change of table so we could sit at the window (which we had requested and confirmed several weeks prior) she begrudgingly “allowed” us to move. That really set the tone. My wife ordered an Aperol Spritz reiterating that she wanted Soda water. An Aperol Soda arrived. When we flagged that we had ordered an Aperol Spritz, Rebecca told the barman to “just throw a Prosecco in there”. We then overheard her conversation with the barman, very clearly discussing how my wife was “another difficult one” and from that point she didn’t come near us. The atmosphere was tense and unwelcoming to say the least. The rest of the staff were extremely professional courteous, attentive, and friendly and our food was equally good. The squid starter was light and extremely tasty, with a hint of chilli heat. Our main courses (prawn risotto and lamb ragu tortellini) were generous, well seasoned and tasty. The wine (Alvarinho from Portugal) was crisp and well priced. Much as we enjoyed the food, and the service from most of the staff, this is not the first time we’ve had a poor experience with front of house here . And from some of the other people we’ve shared our experience with, they have similar feedback. Take note Rebecca the rest of your staff are showing you how to do it."

"This was the third visit in 4 weeks, again no heating on, the radiators were cold, turned off. The Sunday Roast was terrible. We ordered at the bar, the girl serving us was friendly and efficient. We ordered the Roast Beef lunch, amazingly it came within minutes. The beef was tuff and chewy to the point I couldn't eat it, the Yorkshire Pudding looked like a Pancake, the meal was only just warm. The chef should be ashamed of himself sending out a meal like this. I did complain to the waitress when she cleared the table, she did say sorry, I asked her to tell the chef, she returned with a cash refund. I will never return here again and I certainly wouldn't recommend this place."

"Booked after looking for somewhere for Sunday Lunch. So glad we did as it was busy. However, tables are well spaced and the staff are very organised. We didn’t feel rushed at all (other than the fact we had a ferry to catch). We both had roasts (one chicken, one beef), the plates were piping hot and the food was plentiful and absolutely delicious. I’ve no idea how they make their cauliflower cheese but it is off the scale. We were stuffed but managed to share a crème brûlée (also delicious). This could easily become our go to place when we visit IoW as I’m keen to see if the other food is as good. Just superb!"

"First the best bit our fantastic waitress, Christine, who was really helpful and welcoming. The atmosphere is as you'd expect from an Italian bubbly without being too loud. It was absolutely boiling though! For the price, the food was such a disappointment. Some parts of our order had started to get cold, which didn't make the dough balls or garlic flatbread especially nice. Some of our party enjoyed their mains margarita pizza, a calzone and a chicken and mushroom dish. However, the chicken cacciatore was dreadful. The pasta was barely seasoned, there was no depth of flavour to the sauce and there was a distinct lack of chicken, pancetta or pecorino cheese. We asked for some extra parmesan, which helped a little, but it certainly didn't warrant the price tag."

"A gorgeous little gem of Perth Road. Have had two date nights here, both absolutely lovely. We were accommodated at short notice after our other dinner plans fell through, and it turned out to be much better than what we'd originally gone for! We had a lovely waiter, fab atmosphere, and the line cooks were absolutely on point that night. Really friendly and intimate, with no sense of being rushed at all, even when the night was drawing on. "NO SAFE PROCEDURES IN PLACE FOR SEVERE ALLERGY SUFFERERS Start with the worst a mum of two (toddler and baby) attended in our party and informed serving staff that both have dairy allergy when ordering our food. The mum is a breastfeeding mum (on holiday) and has been avoiding dairy in the time spent with us so as not to pass diary onto her baby through her breast milk. The toddler cannot take dairy now that she is on solid food. Unfortunately for us, the vegan meal was served with carrots tossed/cooked in butter, (which in itself should not have occurred given this was ordered as part of a vegan meal), but which was only noticed at the end of the meal after the toddler started to break out in hives. Having been spoken to separately by waiting staff, chef and management, the only recompense was apologies and 20% off the food bill. The serving staff said a note had been made on the docket and the chef said he had been too busy to notice note this was a Tuesday evening at 5.30 and the restaurant was only about half full. Words are cheap and had the toddler suffered a severe reaction that may have required ambulance attendance, the 20% off the food bill would have done little to recompense our family. Thankfully the parents were quick to administer medication. We recommend that the restaurant respond to this review about how their procedures are to be changed to ensure someone else does not suffer more seriously than we did. Thankfully the parents had the correct medication and epi pen with them. The attitude and culture to responding to this incident was all wrong. By consequence, the kitchen is at worst negligent and disrespectful and at best, careless. I would not trust this kitchen with taking adequate respect over anyone's food allergies, intolerances or avoidances, particularly as the vegan meal was served with butter. Food 1* due to the above and while some of us enjoyed our food around the table, the vegan option was noted to have little taste from the vegetables. Service 3* waiting staff attentive and polite, but again didn't seem trained on how to handle our incident and were keen to pass the blame of communication to the kitchen. Atmosphere 3 nothing notable. We were escorted to a comfortable set of tables for our party size, but we left feeling angry and let down by the response and lack of consideration for our allergy sufferers."

"I visited The Crooked Spoon for breakfast as part of a stay in one of the Enchanted Village Treehouses. This review is solely based on the experience at The Crooked Spoon and not the Enchanted Village Treehouse which was great. Upon arrival, the waitress found our booking, however due to the clear chaos that had been unfolding during the breakfast service, there wasn’t one available – not the best start. What’s the point in a booking system if you’re not actually reserving tables for people? The whole experience was nothing short of disappointing. There wasn’t enough plates or bowls, so we had to wait 10+ minutes just for some crockery. The food was poor quality, cold and really sub-par. The staff were trying to replenish the food and crockery as quickly as possible but it was clear there wasn’t enough crockery or staff to do that fast enough. Unfortunately, if you’re staying at Alton Towers, there is a very limited choice for breakfast as you must go where you are staying. Because it’s included in the price and you can’t go anywhere else, it certainly felt like they’d given up at this point, and it did leave a sour taste after what was an enjoyable night in our treehouse."

"We booked a table for 26 people for a farewell party, and I have to say that everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals! The service was absolutely fantastic; all the dishes arrived at the same time, and everything was cooked exactly as we requested. One of our guests had recently dined at Marco Pierre White's restaurant in London, and she even mentioned that her steak at Cricket's was better! The GF-Cid chips were a hit with another member of our party as well. The prices were very reasonable; we took advantage of the steak night on Wednesday, which was two for £14—definitely a great deal! I highly recommend Cricket's; we've already been and will be back for sure. A big thank you to all the staff, and special thanks to Chelsea for helping to sort out our order! Great job, everyone!"

"from my past, a meal in prezzo is always a success. at my last visit I tried her bruschetta, very good decision. the brot it arrived was on scurril and really light and fluffy. also the cherry tomatoes on the top were fresh and sweet. for the net I have her wild mushroom girasole, which interacted with mozzarella, basilikum pesto, kirsch tomaten and rakete. Unfortunately, the basilikum has overtaken the whole court, and it was pretty dirty. Moreover, they were not very generous with the mozzarella, and I would rather have to compensate for the overload of pesto. I've tried her pizzas before, and I've always been 100% satisfied with its deliciousness, so I'd recommend each one more than her pasta. to dessert, I shared her chocolate wing cake. it was amazing. I asked for it to warm so that the vanilla ice cream melts so that it is particularly delicious. overall it was a delicious meal, despite the rather average pornstar. I would recommend looking for a voucher before you visit."
