"It was my father in laws 78th birthday today so we decided on the Star Inn for a birthday meal. It did not disappoint. One side of the pub was closed for refurbishment so luckily we had booked a table as it was busy. There were seven of us who ate here including three children and we had a fantastic meal. The food was piping hot. The fish pie and chicken Thai stir fries were apparently amazing. My son loved the sweet and sour chicken. I’m veggie and had lasagne which was nice but possibly a little too herby for me but there were so many other options I’m already looking forward to trying in the future. The homemade chips were delicious. The deserts were so good especially the rhubarb crème brûlée. Service was so friendly. The young man who tended to us was so helpful and attentive. I can’t believe I’ve been living so close to this pub and not been a regular before now! Thank you for a lovely meal."

It’s an unassuming little pub in Willerby , the food is amazing. Every course a taste explosion. Highly recommended. Give it a try.

Lovely greeting at the bar as soon as we walked in from friendly staff Very busy all tables booked but we only wanted to eat and go so we were able to sit at a table booked for later on in night We ordered straight away The food came very quickly reasonably priced Food was all homemade very very good quality and super big portions which we liked We Highly recommend The Star in Willerby

Went for tea last night, glad we booked via the app as all tables reserved. I ordered the Cajun chicken and chips and my partner ordered the infamous steak pie. This did not disappoint. Great portion size and very tasty. Biggest onion rings I’ve ever seen! Could have been cooked just a little longer. Great atmosphere and accommodating staff. Highly recommend and will certainly be back again View menu

Not happy tonight. I ordered the small gammon and my friend the larger one. Both were overcooked and dry. This happened to me last time we were in this pub and I returned the meal. The gammon is so thin it's just like a rasher of bacon. After an absence of a few months I thought I would order again as the small appetite menu is very limited in the hope there had been an improvement. Unfortunately, it was just the same. Won't be back in a hurry!

We recently hosted my Dads wake in the Stables Bistro. I cannot praise The Star enough. We had around 25 people, and I believe the Stables can host around 40. The room is beautifully decorated with a small bar area. The buffet was lovely, fresh and plenty of it. We didn’t use the outside area, but it looked really nice, and I’m sure in the right weather, it is a welcome place to spread out into. There was always a member of staff around if needed, but they were unobtrusive and respectful. All in all it is the perfect venue for any occasion.

We have used the Star now for several lunches recently and compared to other pub grub experiences, the Star easily outshines its competitors as the staff are excellent, helpful, polite and the grub is more gourmet quality: delicious, fresh (no frozen ready meals here) and ever so tasty and good value for money. The four of us tucked into: leg of lamb shank, meat/ale pie, scampi and hunters chicken and there wasn 't a morsel left afterwards. We all agreed the price was great too even after drinks and a coffee dessert, the final price wasn 't much more than you 'd pay for an average pub experience so why not try the Star for a stellar experience big thumbs up to the chef and front of house/wai... Weve been using the Star for more years than we want Avto admit over 40 anyway. Food has been great, then suffered as managers changed. Recently its been good at times, but can suffer from lack of service at times. Young girls are always pleasant but not always the most attentive. I wanted to recommend a couple of the dishes though especially the Spare Ribs which is a superbly presented full rack, with the bones sticking out with plenty of succulent meat left and a delicious sauce. Not many vegetables though (not even enough to tell what they were! and the 'chips ' urgently need attention (see picture . My wife had the Medallions of Beef Diane which were are fine be sure to ask for an approp...

What’s happened to your home cooked food? Been coming here for years and always look forward to it. We ordered the famous beefsteak pie,one with “chips” and the other with veg,one with veg was sent back,it had hardly any pastry covering it and was awful to taste. Mine wasn’t much better but I stuck with it,the chips seemed like old chopped up roast potatoes fried up. The pie was also bland and tasteless with little or no mushroom, the peas shrivelled up and hardly any gravy. Do you not have a chef anymore? Is someone cooking whos not done it before? Your fresh home cooked food used to be the best ever! Everything I saw coming out of the kitchen was deep fried stuff which looked ok , but anyon...
