"The food and service is second to none but there just isn’t any ambience anymore. The main dining room is too light and the side area for tables of two feels more like a side room for tables of two.. There are service stations everywhere and a waiter put down someone else’s half eaten olives onto our table. They had also run out of all the “go to” dishes which is a little crazy considering the numbers aren’t to capacity. The meal itself was great. Expensive but delicious."

"Disgusting experience, saw the reviews were ok on tripadvisor and thought we would give it a go, how wrong of us Start to finish the service was very very poor, lack of manners and not even a friendly face or anything but we didn’t...mind too much as we understand how stressful hospitality can be The lack of hygiene really was shocking I felt dirty and embarrassed to be in there and to top it off a lovely hair in my food, definitely not mine either no one seemed to care about this and it was just shrugged off, great to know the kitchens are being kept well"

"We were warmly welcomed and drinks served quickly. Good advice given regarding the menu that was most interesting (not many Chinese restaurants have green lipped mussels) and portions so no wastage."

"Hospitality businesses have had it tough over the past few years, but even making allowances for that, there’s no excuse for probably the worst meal I’ve had for a very long time. I should have paid attention to other recent reviews. It takes a particular skill (and not a good one) to be able to serve up a meal so completely lacking in flavour and taste. First up, the restaurant lacks any atmosphere. Granted it was early evening but we were put in an empty room so cold we had to keep our coats on. A couple of small heaters had no impact at all. On the positive side, service was attentive. The mixed starter plate was the usual mixed starter in a Chinese restaurant. Not home made, all bought in, we’ve had it numerous times. The chicken satay was a particular low point but fairly typical of all the meat dishes, a rare combination of tough but watery. As for the sauces, absolutely a million miles away from even moderate flavour to coat the meats. And sesame toast and spring roll – how can you cook the flavour out of that? Crispy aromatic duck with pancakes – the pancakes were the only things as expected. A bit of a high point, almost. There was no crispy and no aromatic, the duck was bordering on tepid and again no flavour. We had a polite word with our server who said he would speak to the kitchen to see what could be done. Given they were unlikely to be preparing fresh for us, I doubted we’d get anything. Three dishes came out flavourless and barely warm. A chicken dish came out with the server proclaiming the hope that this dish would be different. Indeed it was. It was hot, for a start. Then we found out why, it seemed like in order to get some flavour into the dish, it had been given a quick go in a wok and doused in soy sauce. So, it did have flavour, just not the flavour of the dish. Given it was so cold in there we couldn’t really even laugh the experience off as ‘one of those things’. I can’t recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy."

"Our visit was for a birthday meal. The staff were friendly and efficient. The food was good. We chose quite spicy dishes. The food was not piled high (thank goodness) but in reasonable sized portions. We like to leave a restaurant wanting more not uncomfortably full or with a bag full of leftovers and that's exactly how it was. Will definitely book again."

"The food at this restaurant is good, but I will not be returning due to blatant racial discrimination. I am a black man who has always frequented this restaurant with East Asian friends. However, on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024, my Chinese British friend and I experienced discrimination from the staff. Despite standing in plain view near the front of the restaurant for nearly 5 minutes, none of the staff acknowledged us or offered us a table. When two Chinese girls entered after us, the waiter immediately greeted them and assumed they were with us, ignoring me until he realized my friend was not with them. He then seated us at a substandard table near the open door, clearly showing preference for Chinese customers over us. This discriminatory behavior is unacceptable, and I will not be patronizing this restaurant again."

"TPT Street Hawker Stall This busy restaurant in Chinatown is a good weird fix when craving Malaysian/ Singaporean food. The black hokkien noodle was spot on. Morning glory with fermented bean was tasty. Not sure about the la la soup very weird flavoring in it, like it’s got Indian influences. Disappointed with the butter prawn.. it had cornflakes inside of egg floss !! The Tofu pudding was the highlight of the night. So smooth, unfortunately you have to pay the overly price for it!!"

"I put my email in December for six people including one wheelchair user I was quite pacific remind request when we arrived at the restaurant there is no accessible entrance no mobile ramp and we had to get my guest up to steps with now with no help and support from the restaurant staff when I raise this with the staff they totally ignored it and blanked me is is unfortunate as restaurant is very good food is good but the access is not acceptable in the year 2018 please ensure they have a portable ramp available for wheelchair users and people unable to use Tips . Accessible toilet was full of cleaning equipment and other rubbish so is unable to be used by my guest this is very disappointing on the whole the whole evening was good but will be even better if people I thought what was needed in making sure We all. has an enjoyable evening"

"I was impressed at the speed with which dishes arrived though my friends did start ordering a few minutes before I got to the table and the tables were generally big enough to have an array of dishes on without taking over! The Chinese New Year menu had some great dishes e.g. mushroom the moss looked like hairball from a drain plug ' ' BUT standout was the Hainanese ? chicken with rice garlic dip!! I opted to have Pu 'reh tea because it seems more appropriate than a glass of wine etc. Very pleasant décor which gives character but doesn 't distract from the food."

"First of all I would give a 0 stars if I could. I feel like I have just eat part of a cat . Totally inedible absolutely rank disgusting and filth I really wish I had read the reviews before ordering from here. This is possibly not just the worst Chinese I have ever attempted to eat but actually the worst meal I have ever Eaton. Absolutely shocking of a place it needs shutting down. Tried to call them and I’m explaining how poor the food was and all they could say was your food is out for delivery yeeeee’ erm no love the food is in my kitchen bin. Absolutely filthy I strongly avoid and recommend no body eat here I wouldn’t even feed this food to a homeless person it would just be bang out of order to do so. Oh and I ordered vegetable spring rolls please tell me why it had meat inside????? SHUT IT DOWN"

"We were seated by the window which was lovely and seen to within minutes but my only remark would be it was very rushed so you never had time to enjoy every course before the next one was out infront of you. Therefore our main course was wasted, although we were offered a take out box. So we would have enjoyed it more if it was not so rushed."

"The food at this restaurant is fantastic, but unfortunately, the service leaves much to be desired. I arrived 10 minutes early to a lukewarm reception, and a surly waiter inquired about the arrival time of my friends (who were all punctual). Despite the restaurant being nearly empty, I had to request a drink three times before receiving it. To top it off, one of our main courses never made it to our table, and we were treated as if we had not even placed the order, despite the waiter having written it down and confirmed it. It took asking for the bill four times before we finally received it. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, and we do not plan on returning. It's a shame, because the food is truly outstanding."

"This was the third restaurant serving Cantonese-style Chinese food that we tried in Manchester Chinatown. After last night's not very good food quality experience at Mei Dim, we were more cautious by only ordering 2 dishes first before getting a third item. The steamed shrimps with garlic and vermicelli was very tasty, and the spinach cooked in broth that came with shredded pork, garlic, and cubed thousand-year-old egg was good. We then ordered a xiao long bao (steamed pork dumplings) but that was not too impressive. Overall it was a very good meal, but the restaurant charged us for hot water. When I asked the cashier about the pot of hot tea charge since we didn't order tea, she claimed that every restaurant charges for hot water so we still had to pay. That was not true since none of the other two Chinese restaurants and the Japanese restaurant that we tried in the past 2 days charged for our pot of hot water, which was why I only gave them 3-1/2 stars instead of 4 stars."

"(Update 2024-05: Beware dishes labelled with a green (V may not actually be vegetarian when served, especially when you have a table of meat and non meat eaters. Manager gave the excuse of “do any of you not eat meat” and “you should have let us know when you ordered”, though eventually apologised and gave us half price off that one dish. Was here for dinner with relatives on a Sunday evening. Not the most fancy atmosphere, but appeared cleanish. Food wise, so far this is one of the best in the city centre and I can't believe I've gone past it so many times without giving the place a thought, the entrance is so unassuming. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor, you do need to climb a flight of stairs to reach the place. Would recommend the Tofu with Chinese Leaf Glass Noodles (146 , which they apparently use their own egg tofu. The sauce for the Mixed Vegetables with Malaysian Curry (224 was out-of-this-world, but I wasn't much of a fan with the vegetables used (my relatives liked them though . We did find the side portion of stir fried noodles far too salty, though this was the only downfall for the food. They did get one of our orders wrong (despite naming it and pointing it at the menu when ordering and later claimed not to be in a position to correct it. Whatever arrived looked nice and a lot cheaper so we just let it go. Service was friendly, helpful, but a little clumsy."
