"This was the third restaurant serving Cantonese-style Chinese food that we tried in Manchester Chinatown. After last night's not very good food quality experience at Mei Dim, we were more cautious by only ordering 2 dishes first before getting a third item. The steamed shrimps with garlic and vermicelli was very tasty, and the spinach cooked in broth that came with shredded pork, garlic, and cubed thousand-year-old egg was good. We then ordered a xiao long bao (steamed pork dumplings) but that was not too impressive. Overall it was a very good meal, but the restaurant charged us for hot water. When I asked the cashier about the pot of hot tea charge since we didn't order tea, she claimed that every restaurant charges for hot water so we still had to pay. That was not true since none of the other two Chinese restaurants and the Japanese restaurant that we tried in the past 2 days charged for our pot of hot water, which was why I only gave them 3-1/2 stars instead of 4 stars."

My sons birthday but nothing was done to help celebrate this. That is ok as it was a late booking.

Really surprised with the quality of food from quite a basic looking restaurant. My partner is Asian and most people there were also Asian so I’m assuming like me the the authentic nature of the food was impressing them View menu

Food was just OK, but expensive. Staff were prety unresponsive. Took ages to get their attention when needed. Didn't clear the table before bringing us our bill and taking payment. Generally, we didn't feel welcome and wouldn't return.

Took the mothers out for a pre show meal, clean and well maintained environment with attentive staff. Good selection of food including a wide vegetarian menu. Food was served timely, warm and portions sizes were great starters could have fed two people and mains were great too. Even taught us to use chopsticks. Will definitely return again

I tried Pinwei for the first time on a Saturday night with 6 friends from London. I am a true foodie Londoner, and to my surprise, the food was really good! The Peking duck with pancakes starter was spot on, steamed garlic prawns were so good, as were other dishes we had. Great value too! Will be back when in Manchester next time. Such a shame a group of drunken men of approx 10 was so loud. View menu

Family of 4 had a nice night here but had to Score this as average as even though we had a nice time the food was nice it just wasn’t as nice as a few of the other places we normally go and the service wasn’t exactly great. The staff seemed to be offended when they were asked questions or for additional food drinks. If the food had been amazing I wouldn’t have minded the price and automatic service charge.

We felt the staff were two busy to see to you, lots of running around but no interaction with the customers. Our starters didn’t arrive together my partners was just quickly put on the table and then the member of staff just quickly turned away no words spoken and we had to ask for this to p minutes later when we were able to catch a staff members attention, Obviously there had been some confusion in the kitchen the dumplings were delicious once arrived. The mains came and one was quite cold didn’t complain as we were just hungry at this point. Then to top it off they added 10% gratuity to the bill I would happily pay the gratuity if my dining experience had been good but was disappointed wi...

"Alborz is a wonderful hidden gem in Levenshulme that serves a variety of Persian and Middle-Eastern food, located on Stockport Rd you could be forgiven for thinking that Alborz is as unassuming as it's humble exterior suggests. However, what lies behind those modest doors is truly fantastic restaurant both in terms of food and service. The interior is understated and tasteful, furnished with Persian vases and ornate tea sets, the tables are close together to make the most of the limited space available but this lends a refreshing communal atmosphere to your meal. The staff were friendly and attentive and more than happy to talk you through the menu and explain the various dishes. We ordered the Mezze Platter to start, this consists of four different starters, and is ideal if you're not overly familiar with Persian cuisine, the homemade hummus was a particular highlight being both fresh and tasty. We then ordered the Alborz special grill for two, which looks as wonderful as it tastes, succulent skewers of koobideh and chicken accompanied by grilled vegetables, saffron rice and a freshly baked taltoon bread which was frankly quite ridiculous in its magnificence and is so large it came supplied with its own stand. This was a true delight to eat and I can highly recommend it. After all of that, we were overloaded with food and couldn't possibly consider having dessert and so, asked for the bill, which led to true surprise of the evening, all of this wonderfully authentic and fresh food came to a grand total of £42. This reflects tremendous value in a time where a meal for two can often prove quite expensive. Overall I would say that Alborz is definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and if you're not well then it's worth making the trip for. If you're a fan of Persian food or perhaps want to try something new then you would genuinely struggle to find such a quality dining experience at this price point."
