"I went here with my gf for mum, I really enjoyed it and it seems dona good trade supply food to all the demand I saw to eat a series of chaps. the dimme sum was freshly tasting, it was very tasty and I sometimes underestimated how temperature hot it would be and I had to wait until I had to cool down. I'm from hongkong and I was impressed with the food. the ribs had a beautiful sauce they had in their mouth tender flesh. the siu mai well made and freshly made. the crispy pork bauchnabel bao was beautiful because the skin was so delicious and crispy in a white bao. the sweet fish cakes were so pleasant I ordered two plates. the dizzying dumplings were very well filled. they had nothing sweet, which I would recommend, because the fried milk bars were not on camp. excellent service the ladies there were so beautiful and polite. they made sure we were good at lunch. "We booked the Firecracker Restaurant to celebrate my mother’s 70th Birthday. There was approximately 40 family members and we were given the main restaurant dining area. We had the option of choosing 8 dishes from the party menu and was allowed to bring cake and a few decorations. The manager and staff were very friendly and could not do enough to make our experience a Night to Remember. The staff were very helpful and offered their suggestions to make the night run smoothly. The food was amazing and plentiful with compliments from all family members. The entertainment was great and we ended up having a full blown party where people from other rooms came out to join in the celebration. My mum thoroughly enjoyed her night and will remember it forever. Thank you so much to the manager and staff at the Firecracker Restaurant for making my mother’s birthday special."

"Was passing by Great Western Road on morning and was in need of something to eat, so thought I would pop in to Great Western Cafe to grab some food on the go. Usual selection of things to order, but my only gripe is that the service was incredibly slow, and while far from busy, spent longer than I had to for my order of a breakfast roll. All in all, prices are really good, and the food is tasty, but its really just a small cafe and serves its purpose for what I need."

"This was our second visit to the restaurant and it will definitely not be our last. The atmosphere was great and we had lots of fun celebrating my wife's Birthday. After the meal, everyone sang Happy Birthday, and then a confetti bomb went off. The kids were given silly string to spray all over, especially my wife and me. "I reserved the function room for a party of about 25 people. The space was perfect, beautifully arranged with its own private bar, and we were able to decorate and play our own music through the sound system. The staff were fantastic, the drink prices were very reasonable, and everyone had a fantastic time. However, there were a few issues that I want to mention for anyone else planning to book. With better communication before the event, I believe these could have been easily resolved. The venue was very helpful and responsive during the booking process, but after I confirmed my reservation, I had trouble getting responses to my emails or phone calls until the day of the event. This led to them not being able to coordinate dinner orders as I had requested. There were not enough menus for the whole party, so wait staff handed them out sporadically, leading to a very staggered food service. Some guests waited hours for their meals, which was embarrassing as the host. Additionally, the rounds of drinks that I had pre-ordered to be served as a surprise throughout the evening were announced near the beginning of the event due to an internal miscommunication. We also had to vacate the room for a downstairs booth at midnight instead of the requested 2am, which should have been clarified in advance. Despite these issues, it was still a great night with wonderful memories. I would consider booking again, but would recommend eating beforehand next time."

"I went to Verso for a tea time birthday meal and was pleasantly surprised to find my entire family waiting for me for a surprise party. The staff had put tables together, decorated with balloons, and a card signed by all of them. The meals were served promptly, hot, and delicious with a great selection to choose from. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and even knew us by our first names. This personal touch set Verso apart from other restaurants in town. I thoroughly enjoyed my 65th birthday celebration at Verso Lounge, it was the best night I've had in a long time. The menu for kids was excellent and the food was prepared with skill and elegance. I initially told my wife I didn't want a party, but I'm so glad she organized it. Having my entire family in one place, at my favorite restaurant in town, was truly special. "This was our first visit. I have to remind myself that this is a training environment for students but there should be someone in charge, who is identifiable to direct the students on how to present a menu and how to place a dish in front of customers. I had chicken breast on a bed of curry sauce with hassleback potatoes. My whole dish was luke warm at best, the curry sauce was overpowering, and the hassleback potatoes were not crispy. The chicken was lovely and moist and I ordered a side of triple cooked chips which were super hot, expensive at £4, I only wish the rest of my dish was that hot. I had cheese and biscuits which consisted of Brie, blue cheese and cheddar together with chutney. My wife had Pain Perdue which was well presented and tasty. The restaurant is more like a cafe, not cosy, so don't choose it if you want a romantic evening. Overall would I go again? probably not. If you are ever near the Lake district try to book a table in the restaurant at Kendal College. On a final note; there is parking on an evening next to the college. Drive up to the barrier and press the call button, security will let you in. The barrier opens automatically on exit."
