"I had my first taste of butter chicken on my flight into London and it had been on my mind ever since. I was on a mission to try more Indian cuisine and I found Tuk Tuk as I was researching eateries. The reviews were great and was about a 10 15 minute walk from our hotel in Haymarket. We stopped in for an early dinner and were one of the few people in the restaurant. Their dishes are made to share and they recommend 3 plates per person to start and so we ordered a handful of different items that included rice, garlic naan, pakora, butter chicken, and a some curries. Oh my, that butter chicken totally hit the spot! I was in heaven! It was SO good with the perfect blend of spices. I thought it would have tasted even better if it were made with chicken thighs as the meat would 've been softer and more moist, but their take was still amazing. I also really enjoyed the garlic naan and sopping up the rest of the sauce with it. For dessert the gulab jamun with ice cream piqued my interest it sounded like nothing I 've ever had and they totally had me at 'milk dumpling. ' The dessert came out piping hot with a nice scoop of ice cream. Let me tell you, this was one of the most memorable desserts I had on our entire European trip. I love 'milk flavored ' sweets and this did not disappoint. The rose flavored sugar syrup did not overpower the milk dumpling and the ice cream balanced everything so well. We LOVED this meal so much that we went back the very next day! The second time it was much busier, much louder, which also resulted in slower service and longer wait times. However, it was worth every minute! Tuk Tuk Indian Street Food was one of my favorite meals on our Europe trip and I 'll cherish this memory as it was my first deep dive into Indian Cuisine. I highly recommend a stop here!"

"I visited last Saturday morning with family when visiting the nearby Isle of Sheppey, I can't begin to say how great this was. We went back same evening! The owner/host Musa who is also the chef, is just marvellous. Greatly courteous, classy, and so outrageously skilled as a chef too! I lived in Mexico 2 years, love Mexican culture, fanatic about Mexican food. For lunch we ordered Fajitas, Chimichanga, and Garlic Prawns. All sublime, super tender beef, superb Chimichanga, the prawns tasted as good as it gets presented in French style (the owner/chef also has a French restaurant). In the evening we tried tacos, salty squid, and churros. The atmosphere was wonderful, like you have come out of the boring day and gone to an exotic Latin mini-vacation! Humelo is a GREAT guy, we had such great chat and interaction and so much laughs together, we all even danced together to a Latin classic later. More amazing, is the prices. I paid almost the same as I paid for the beautiful Chimichanga dish, or the superb Fajitas (enough for 2) as a silly Kebab from a shop the night before, only 2-4 Pounds higher. So a top gourmet luxury restaurant with superb ambience and food, and at prices close to a regular pizzeria! My 13 year old son fell in love with the place and the food. We have talked about booking a hotel nearby, and drive all the way from Richmond just to visit again, THAT is how much we loved it! Thank you Musa, thank you Humelo, hope to see you soon again!"

"Jojolapa is the first Nepalese restaurant in Birmingham, located on Newhall Street. In a city well known for the cuisine of Nepal’s much more famous South Asian neighbour, the restaurant has held its own with discerning diners, so it was high time we tried it ourselves. Atmosphere There’s a buzzy vibrance to the place which contrasts fabulously with the moody low lit interior, dark wood furnishings and carvings. We saw relaxed diners enjoying drinks at the bar as they waited to be seated. Jojolapa has the ‘perfect night out’ atmosphere nailed. food Steamed momo chicken dumplings with mint and coriander sauce and Nepalese tomato sauce, chatamari (Nepalese pancake stuffed with vegetables and fried egg) and momo soup (chicken dimsum broth with noodles) were moreish starters. I was disappointed that the East Asian flavour to our meal pretty much ended there. There were very few main choices that I hadn’t eaten in an Indian restaurant. I opted for one of the noted Nepalese dishes special fish curry with nepalese spices. My guest plumped for the old faithful lamb rogan josh. Both were nice enough but I yearned for more of the starters. The kulfi ice cream was a delicious end to the meal. drinks There is a very respectable wine menu but Jojolapa is the natural home for cocktail lovers. The yummy jojolapa cocktail – black vodka, midori and cranberry juice marked the start of the evening in style and Jojolapa’s twist on the mango lassi served with vodka and orange liquer was gorgeous. overall There are plenty of Indian restaurants in Birmingham that boast similar dishes. But many of these restaurants can only dream of achieving Jojolapa’s cosmopolitan and sexy vibe seductively teamed with a friendly and super efficient service."

"Since the well-run and ever better informed diners of london visit the market for authenticity, it is interesting to see how the restaurant of the middle market Indian' is coming. where I come from, no single Indian restaurant is operated by a person who has ever been in india (the family behind the taj mahal originates from karachi, and the man who promises a taste of india, hails from chittagong.) but in the city london and in countless suburbs, we have come to accept, embrace and always ask we go for a curry' instantly connotable asses of mild deception, civil and frivole entertainment and feel very full with delicious meat and fat. and there is always this beautiful moment when they serve them a laminated menu of frozen desserts in a plastic penuin that they would have rejected, even if they were not too full again because it is a disturbing picture. sripur is close to my office, zomato informed me, so I led us there about a precurry doombar in the cheshire Cheese./ and yes, in the old of dishoom, food trucks and Michelin-starred curry kitchen, the mid-market curry house of the city is alive and well. / I say the medium market because for two of us, with a poppadom, a tandoori mixed grill everyone, say chana, roti and naan, plus two large kingfishers each, the bill came to £60. < br>/ but it was great. not spectacular, but the mixed grill was exactly what they want to stand at this price point among these. the keema was substantial, the fehde. the naans were a bit thin and crispy for my personal taste, but they said and channa were both deliciously fed. and kingfisher is kingfisher a sin qua non of a good (british) curry experience./ was sripur as location service is friendly enough, efficient and uninvasive. it is mainly colonized by some men in suits. not the loud, obnoxic art, but a smashing, something behind their best gray-handed-the-ears chaps with loose ties and the intention of a £40 taxi house in front of them. / could have had another curry for it."

"Upon entering the empty restaurant (which should of been a sign), a lady dressed in what looked like her home lounge wear, said to me and my partner , “yeh?!”, first shock! We asked for a table for 2 . She says nothing and so we just followed her. My partner then asked where the toilets are , and the other lady put her finger up at him and said something along the lines of “one minute” in a rude tone. When he went upstairs to the toilet he had to walk over a plumber fixing a radiator at the top of the stairs !We then had to call over the first rude woman to order our food, she said nothing, she just stood at the table with the body language of a teenager have a strop! No thank you , no nothing fr her. She returns with our drinks and looks elsewhere whilst lazily casting them on to the table. My partner said thank you, and she ignored him. They had little heaters plugged in everywhere because it seemed their heating was not working . We were freezing . I turned one of the heaters to face us more, a few minutes later she stormed over huffing and puffing and turned it back away from us. The starters came and they were disgusting and my corn cakes were undercooked. Disgusting !!! By this point we weren’t going to stick around to be treated like scum anymore and to give ourselves food poisoning from the rubbish they were serving. My partner went up the the first rude lady, and said that we will not be continuing to eat there anymore , she said nothing and went to get the card reader, my partner paid and she still said nothing. They are more concerned for their takeaway orders than dine-in customers. (And from what I have now read in reviews …. Their takeaway service is ridiculous also) I have never experienced something quite like this . Absolutely APPALLED!!!!"
