"I am always hopful when trying a new place but this was a let down. The waiter didn't seem to know what was on the menu, or what is job was, and it was a major mission just to place our order. The noisy turbine extractor fan in the dining room sparked to life when smoke from the kitchen filled the room, doors were opened to help manage the smoke, it was not nice. The food was okay, the value was okay with the toptable deal, but without the deal forget it. The washroom experience was unplesant to say the least. Air freshener lined the wall. Chicken was defrosting unattended in a downstairs kitchen sink. Sorry but never again."

"This was a lovely dining experience for a Saturday night. The décor is classy and the waiting staff were attentive. We ordered a small mixed grill, pepper chicken, biryani and garlic naan for a party of 2. We left very full and happy. The food was delicious and the service was quick. As it was our anniversary, the restaurant gifted our dessert free of charge. We'll definitely come back."

"We went to the restaurant on Sunday afternoon. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The service could have been a bit faster, but it wasn't slow. The venue was very nicely decorated. My only complaint is that there are too many TVs in the restaurant. I didn't realize it would be like that. When I'm having Sunday lunch, I don't want to be surrounded by football on every screen. The restaurant feels more like a sports bar, even though it's not advertised as one. It's a shame because other than that, the restaurant is excellent."

"I took my mother to the Two Sisters restaurant for her birthday last Sunday. We were immediately greeted and informed about the brunch options (i.e. buffet versus brunch specials and other adjustments, such as turkey bacon instead of pork). I think this is a great place for a relaxed brunch and definitely for a mother-daughter date. We loved the food and the service. We drove to a Groupon and will definitely drive again without the Groupon. Worth it."

"I had passed Tuk Tuk quite a few times on foot and by bus and it always intrigued me. I am a sucker for good Indian food, and none of that oily take away nonsense. When we arrived we weren't really sure how it worked, could we just sit down, or do we wait to be seated and we stood there's a while waiting with no one really paying attention to us. Eventually someone came over and said that we could sit any where we would like and seemed annoyed that we didn't know where to go. Besides that, the service was good. The food came quite promptly and the servers were efficient. I ordered the chicken Korma and asked for them to add a bit of extra chilli in for me and they didn't disappoint with...read more"

"I visited last Saturday morning with family when visiting the nearby Isle of Sheppey, I can't begin to say how great this was. We went back same evening! The owner/host Musa who is also the chef, is just marvellous. Greatly courteous, classy, and so outrageously skilled as a chef too! I lived in Mexico 2 years, love Mexican culture, fanatic about Mexican food. For lunch we ordered Fajitas, Chimichanga, and Garlic Prawns. All sublime, super tender beef, superb Chimichanga, the prawns tasted as good as it gets presented in French style (the owner/chef also has a French restaurant). In the evening we tried tacos, salty squid, and churros. The atmosphere was wonderful, like you have come out of the boring day and gone to an exotic Latin mini-vacation! Humelo is a GREAT guy, we had such great chat and interaction and so much laughs together, we all even danced together to a Latin classic later. More amazing, is the prices. I paid almost the same as I paid for the beautiful Chimichanga dish, or the superb Fajitas (enough for 2) as a silly Kebab from a shop the night before, only 2-4 Pounds higher. So a top gourmet luxury restaurant with superb ambience and food, and at prices close to a regular pizzeria! My 13 year old son fell in love with the place and the food. We have talked about booking a hotel nearby, and drive all the way from Richmond just to visit again, THAT is how much we loved it! Thank you Musa, thank you Humelo, hope to see you soon again!"

"Jojolapa is the first Nepalese restaurant in Birmingham, located on Newhall Street. In a city well known for the cuisine of Nepal’s much more famous South Asian neighbour, the restaurant has held its own with discerning diners, so it was high time we tried it ourselves. Atmosphere There’s a buzzy vibrance to the place which contrasts fabulously with the moody low lit interior, dark wood furnishings and carvings. We saw relaxed diners enjoying drinks at the bar as they waited to be seated. Jojolapa has the ‘perfect night out’ atmosphere nailed. food Steamed momo chicken dumplings with mint and coriander sauce and Nepalese tomato sauce, chatamari (Nepalese pancake stuffed with vegetables and fried egg) and momo soup (chicken dimsum broth with noodles) were moreish starters. I was disappointed that the East Asian flavour to our meal pretty much ended there. There were very few main choices that I hadn’t eaten in an Indian restaurant. I opted for one of the noted Nepalese dishes special fish curry with nepalese spices. My guest plumped for the old faithful lamb rogan josh. Both were nice enough but I yearned for more of the starters. The kulfi ice cream was a delicious end to the meal. drinks There is a very respectable wine menu but Jojolapa is the natural home for cocktail lovers. The yummy jojolapa cocktail – black vodka, midori and cranberry juice marked the start of the evening in style and Jojolapa’s twist on the mango lassi served with vodka and orange liquer was gorgeous. overall There are plenty of Indian restaurants in Birmingham that boast similar dishes. But many of these restaurants can only dream of achieving Jojolapa’s cosmopolitan and sexy vibe seductively teamed with a friendly and super efficient service."

"Five of us went for dinner with a 7.30 booking. We didnt get seated till after 8.30. We ordered our food (only mains) and then waited over an hour before our food came. Then we waited another 15 minutes for our nans and rice. Meanwhile we realised our food was only lukewarm. When this was pointed out to the waiter, he took our food and bought it back within 2 minutes. It was obviously heated in the microwave. This meal was a comedy of errors. The food was only average. We were offered complimentary drinks which when the bill came, we had been charged for it!!! Avoid at all costs."

"Since the well-run and ever better informed diners of london visit the market for authenticity, it is interesting to see how the restaurant of the middle market Indian' is coming. where I come from, no single Indian restaurant is operated by a person who has ever been in india (the family behind the taj mahal originates from karachi, and the man who promises a taste of india, hails from chittagong.) but in the city london and in countless suburbs, we have come to accept, embrace and always ask we go for a curry' instantly connotable asses of mild deception, civil and frivole entertainment and feel very full with delicious meat and fat. and there is always this beautiful moment when they serve them a laminated menu of frozen desserts in a plastic penuin that they would have rejected, even if they were not too full again because it is a disturbing picture. sripur is close to my office, zomato informed me, so I led us there about a precurry doombar in the cheshire Cheese./ and yes, in the old of dishoom, food trucks and Michelin-starred curry kitchen, the mid-market curry house of the city is alive and well. / I say the medium market because for two of us, with a poppadom, a tandoori mixed grill everyone, say chana, roti and naan, plus two large kingfishers each, the bill came to £60. < br>/ but it was great. not spectacular, but the mixed grill was exactly what they want to stand at this price point among these. the keema was substantial, the fehde. the naans were a bit thin and crispy for my personal taste, but they said and channa were both deliciously fed. and kingfisher is kingfisher a sin qua non of a good (british) curry experience./ was sripur as location service is friendly enough, efficient and uninvasive. it is mainly colonized by some men in suits. not the loud, obnoxic art, but a smashing, something behind their best gray-handed-the-ears chaps with loose ties and the intention of a £40 taxi house in front of them. / could have had another curry for it."

"Our visit to Spice Zone was a very pleasant surprise. Whilst the venue itself is very much a 'high street' Indian with basic decor and furnishings, the quality of the food was excellent with a lovely choice of both North Indian and South Indian dishes. Surinder was an excellent host and we enjoyed chatting with him during our our visit. We will definitely return"

"The restaurant had a nice atmosphere, the young waitresses were very sweet efficient. The drinks were fine although a little on the expensive side. The roast was nice except for the fact that the parsnip carrot were almost rock hard so difficult to cut. This was the same the last time I had a roast. Wheelchair accessibility: When we were leaving a lady came in with a wheelchair the doors looked nice wide. Price per person: £40–50 Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes: Trio Sunday Roast Beef Pork Chicken"

"Went here towards the end of July on a date with my girlfriend. She had never tried Indo/Chinese food before, and I am huge fan so I was excited to bring her somewhere where it seemed to look great online. It did not disappoint, I was a bit apprehensive reading the reviews before I went as there were so many bad, but I am so happy this didn't put me off, if you're looking for more traditional Indian food, this isn't the restaurant for you (although they do have a few options. The only reason this didn't get a full five stars, because although the strawberry mojito was perfect in taste, the mint used for garnish was dying and it didn't look very nice. The garnish should always be fresh. However, I will reinstate the cocktail was delicious! We definitely over ordered, however we were able to take the rest that we didn't finish home so win win! Things that we ordered : Manchow Soup with chicken (this was my girlfriends favourite, its sooo tasty! Salt and Pepper Okra, Kuna Pao Potato (this is my personal favourite!! Kung Pao Chicken, Tai Pai Prawn, Veg Hakka Noodles, Vegetable Rice. I really wanted to ordered Chicken Lollipops as I have had these before and I love them, however I couldn't finish what we had already order let alone ordering more. I really enjoyed the food, even if I did finish a bottle of water because of the spice, spicy but an enjoyable spice. I will 100% be back again, as this has fully lived up to my expectations and I am excited to have more friends try the food. They got busier towards the end with big tables, and lots of telephone orders."

"Upon entering the empty restaurant (which should of been a sign), a lady dressed in what looked like her home lounge wear, said to me and my partner , “yeh?!”, first shock! We asked for a table for . She says nothing and so we just followed her. My partner then asked where the toilets are , and the other lady put her finger up at him and said something along the lines of “one minute” in a rude tone. When he went upstairs to the toilet he had to walk over a plumber fixing a radiator at the top of the stairs !We then had to call over the first rude woman to order our food, she said nothing, she just stood at the table with the body language of a teenager have a strop! No thank you , no nothing fr her. She returns with our drinks and looks elsewhere whilst lazily casting them on to the table. My partner said thank you, and she ignored him. They had little heaters plugged in everywhere because it seemed their heating was not working . We were freezing . I turned one of the heaters to face us more, a few minutes later she stormed over huffing and puffing and turned it back away from us. The starters came and they were disgusting and my corn cakes were undercooked. Disgusting !!! By this point we weren’t going to stick around to be treated like scum anymore and to give ourselves food poisoning from the rubbish they were serving. My partner went up the the first rude lady, and said that we will not be continuing to eat there anymore , she said nothing and went to get the card reader, my partner paid and she still said nothing. I have never experienced something quite like this . Absolutely APPALLED!!!!"

"My husband and son and I decided to stop here for lunch one Monday. We arrived just after 12pm. Sat down, had our drinks and food order taken and my little boy needed to use the toilet. My husband took him to the public toilets which to his utter disgust where completely blocked and disgustingly dirty. He then tried to take him to the restaurant toilets and they where pretty much the same! Could not use them. He alerted a member of staff and it wasn’t even acknowledged and I took him to the female restaurant toilets which where not as bad but had definitely not been cleaned. We again spoke to what was meant to be a young girl duty manager. Her response was oh the cleaners mustn’t have been in?? Seriously? Is there not checks done before opening? If environmental health had of shown up they would have been shut down. We only ate our food because we had already ordered. My husband decided to email to advise of the dirty standards and never got a response, hence now the review. Absolute disgrace. Standards have dropped massively."

"I have been visiting this restaurant for some time now and I just have to write a review. The entire meal was perfect - the gammon and pork are always juicy with no fat at all, the cauliflower cheese is fantastic, and the service is instant when we sit down. The Wingfield Arms is also a great place to hang out with friends. I would give it a 10 out of 10 rating."

"I visited this restaurant 10 years ago and had a wonderful experience. However, my recent visit was disappointing. The service was abrupt and unfriendly, which was the best part of the meal. The popadoms and dips were okay, but lacked flavor. The salmon starter was overcooked and bland, while the Tikka Dhahi Daghie main was the worst curry I have ever had - tasteless and bland. The rice was overdone and congealed, making it inedible. Despite leaving most of our mains untouched, the staff did not inquire about our dissatisfaction and promptly left. This was a disappointing experience, especially after recommending the restaurant to my partner. I won't be returning and I suggest you avoid it as well."
