"Jim's Vegetarian Cafe is a legend in its own right in Colne and I think its been there nearly thirty years. They host music nights, hence its also known as an accoustic cafe and is one of the venues during the Colne Blues Festival, held in August every year. Jim's is located on Newmarket Street, it is ecletic and bohemian, the furnishings must have been collected over the years and is totally chilled atmosphere. The menu is not vast, has vegan options and many that can be adapted. I ordered a houmous salad and chilli pitta pocket, one of my favourite combinations and my husband had fried potatoes with some of the hottest chilli sauce he has eaten, the potatoes were piping hot. Mains were vegetable and mushroom curries with basmati rice and salad, very tasty. There is a small drinks list including beers, lagers and wine, all very reasonably priced. The place is always busy with an age group ranging from teens to people in their 70's so appeals to all."

"Absolutely poor food and service. Would not recommend buying from here , as they serve their dishes plain and dry. I rang up and they were rude and blunt to me. They then told me to come back and buy a sauce to make my food less dry?!! Absolute disgrace of a takeaway , I wouldn’t even rate it 1 star. Definitely will not be buying from here again not worth a penny."

"Wow, where do I start with this review, Moved to Harrogate and thought I’d try a Chinese on ‘Uber eats’ boy was that a good option Ordered the food and within 10 minutes, the driver rang me and said he on his way and will be 5 minutes very polite, Then went to meet him (delivery man) and nothing but polite, this man is wasted as a delivery driver, Then I opened the salt and pepper chips and they was bad boy, no bad stomach after them either which is a rarity cause I eat too many chilli’s I give this a 9.7/10 portion size could be the slightest bit bigger. China garden you have my heart, and delivery man just know you are my g, thank you again. Keep up the hard work and keep striving and making them salt and pepper biddy bad boys. Until we meet again china garden !!!"

"Very disappointed I have used this. Place many occasions and it was Delicious. But. I got a beef chow mein tonght. And. It was disgusting don't. No. What meat. He. Has used. But. It all looked. Like. It was coated. In. Jelly. Dog food.awfull texture went in the. Bin.the. Onions were. Raw and the. Chips. We're awfull. That's me done with this place from now on. VERY. "I have been coming to this chippy for years and have never had a bad experience with either food or service. I bought fish and chips bout a month ago and although food was delicious the member of staff was not. Today 8th Oct I came into the chippy. It was clearly busy with the cafe being full. However, I waited over 10 minutes just to be served whilst the assistants discussed who was working which shift, cleaned the front of the counter and ignored the que. A little acknowledgement would have been lovely. Then when the food came, I asked for salt vinegar but it was so salty it was inedible and the batter was mushy the batter is usually beautiful. A really disappointing experience from a place that was the best in Amble and let's be honest it isn't cheap. I hope these couple of bad experiences are just a blip and the service food will return to its normal quality. "Been twice now both times the food was absolutely gorgeous, I’m a contractor who travels across the uk so I eat in a lot of takeaways, this is right up there in my top 5 Chinese takeaways in the uk, flavours are there food is really fresh and not dripping in oil, so far I’ve had the Salt an pepper ribs,, shredded crispy chilli chicken, fried rice, Singapore chow mein Salt an pepper chicken, all have been excellent. "Tonight, fancying a Chinese we rang and ordered our food. House Special Fried Rice was asked for with NO prawns and a Chicken Curry with chips. My hubbie travelled the six miles to collect the food. When he got home I dished it up, and sat down really looking forward to it only to discover prawns and meat that was totally inedible, even the dog took convincing to eat it!. We rang to complain only to be told by the man,that he had wrote our order stating No Prawns and that we were to return the food for it to be made again this time as we had stated. He didn't even apologise or seem concerned in any way! This could've resulted in a very dire outcome if this had not been noticed. If any special dietary needs are required DO NOT RELY ON THIS TAKE AWAY"

"The food is absolutely amazing! And is cooked very fast, which is even better if your in a rush to get your food. The customer service is always great, very friendly and everyone always has a smile on their face! The Chinese food is always bursting with flavour and the fish and chips are always so so good! The chips are always cooked perfectly, and the fish is so GOOD, I would definitely recommend eastern choice!!! Aswell as it is very clean too! "This place just isn't good. The attitude of staff as they're just not friendly. The food I had tonight was just horrible. The first meal from any Chinese I'd had to throw in the bin ever. Waste of money. I asked for Cantonese chicken thinking it was the chicken in batter with sauce veg but it was just chicken in sauce veg. I didn't feel like the man taking the order wanted to talk to me when I asked what the dish was so I ended up with something I didn't want. The chicken was horrible, really tough chewy. The egg fried rice had a burnt taste to it. Won't go there again."

"Excellent web service to pre-order Chinese meal for a large group. We were able to complete our order and pay for everything online on the Friday morning, for collection on the Saturday evening. It was easy to select a time for collection, plus find the dishes everyone wanted. Email confirmation received instantly with a complete list of our order. Saturday late afternoon we received a further email with details asking us to check carefully and call them if any changes needed. On checking we realised there was an error on one of the dishes (found to be our fault, so many apologies! , Rang Terry's and they immediately changed it to the correct dish. On arrival for collection, everything was ready and the individual dishes had been packed into a large box which made it very easy for me. Our Chinese meal was excellent, cooked to perfection and enjoyed by all. Vegetarian options: Excellent"

"I was told my meal would be ready for collection in 10 mins, 30 minutes later it was ready. When I got home I was annoyed about the wait, but when I tasted the dish it was delicious. I had chicken chow mein. The wait was due to so many delivery orders, but while I waited in the shop the receptionist was still telling customers that their meals would be ready for collection in 10 mins!"

"I like this place and use it whenever I visited my older parents. my vater loves the excellent bbq retrievals that I took in Bournemouth Hospital for his lunch every day and really cheated on him. However, I also had the huh sitting a few days ago and it was so dirty (when in am) plus I still have a blister on my lip from the ridiculous microwave temperature that I must give a below average review. other dishes have also been met and miss, so I say to the cute youngs who run happy moon, lift their game youngs and check the menu!"

"Excellent quality food. I leave food reviews from around the world and I'm self confessed foody. I ordered spring roll and to my delight it was tasty and freshly cooked, NOT dripping with oil as experienced at other establishments. My Singapore vermicelli noodles were also well cooked and showed very little use or signs of oil, chicken, prawns and pork meat with slightly spicy/ hints of curry, fine noodles with onion and sliced peppers, went down well. Schezuan Chicken and Chicken in spicy garlic sauce were flavoursome and not too spicy, next time I'd like to be able to order hotter but I have a liking for spicy food. Not suffering from the tongue stuck to the roof of my mouth either when some Chinese restaurant's use excessive amounts of MSG (flavour enhancers)! Give them a try, I'm sure that you won't be disappointed. Thanks"
