"I think generally this is a nice place but we just had a bad experience. When we arrived we waited 15 minutes to order food. Food arrived and my Mac and cheese was nice, if a bit bland. But my partners food was a burger which came raw, when we sent it back and asked for just the patty to be put in the oven for a couple minutes and the wrong burger came back and our “millionaire fries”, were missing the truffle oil. We did let our server know who apologised but when the bartender came over with the bill we did ask for the service tip to be removed because we were disappointed with the food, he told us that it’s on the menu and therefore can’t be taken off. I’m sure we just had a bad experience but left feeling very disappointed."

"This charming, unpretentious bistro by the river is a delightful find. The decor creates a lovely atmosphere. We enjoyed a variety of dishes including smoked salmon, fish and chips, scallops, and scampi linguini, as well as a filet of salmon with crispy skin served on a bed of mussel and pea risotto. Our group of four unanimously agreed that it was the best meal we had during our visit to the UK. The total bill, which included two glasses of wine, was £106. I highly recommend this place!"

"My friends and I dined at this restaurant last Friday. The staff was extremely polite and attentive. The menu had a good variety of options and most importantly, the food was delicious. The decor was also nice. It was unfortunate to see that the restaurant was empty during prime dinner hours on a Friday evening. The waiter explained that they had recently taken over and many people were not aware of their restaurant. I truly hope that more people discover this hidden gem soon, as we had a wonderful meal and would definitely return. I encourage others to give this place a try!"

"After attending an event in Dunfermline, my family and I were searching for a nice place to have a meal. We found The Carnock Inn on TripAdvisor and were impressed by the menu. We were not disappointed! The menu had a wonderful variety, from traditional dishes to fine dining options. The food was carefully prepared with a blend of flavors and textures that complemented each other perfectly. It was evident that the ingredients were fresh and that the chef had put a lot of passion into crafting the meals. The service was excellent, with friendly and welcoming staff. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area."

"we visited to dinner after the administration to pack a storno table, as the restaurant is fully booked. a warm welcome to the arrival and excellent service throughout. we dined from the main menu but next time will try the tasting menu. I had the lamb that was packed with flavors exceptionally and perfectly cooked. my friend went for the duck, which was again perfect great aromen and accompanied by a side of seasonal veg and potato cure. we divided the dark chocolate mousses, the divine was the candied orange peel and the chantilly cream were a decadent supplement. only a picture managed by each of the foods as was too good!"

"fantastic place to visit. large beer garden for children, fantastic ale for adults and eating is for everyone. would deffo be my native if I were not living 200 miles away. it is a must if at all in somerset. (april 2015) back in the new inn 12 months after our last visit and we have made it priority to call for a few beer and a wonderful meal. it was not disappointed, absolutely fantastic eating, super friendly staff and a pub with real character. oh and the children love the playground again in the sunshine. the fucking love this place. "We visited on a Friday night and booked in advance as it was my nephews birthday so there were people. Always a bit tricky to get food at the same time and get it all right. We sat outside and had drinks and the...manager came and took our orders whilst outside then we went and sat inside once it was nearly ready and pretty much everyone's food came out at the same time. No long waits which is normal with big groups! Smashed it! The food was definitely nice I had the liberty burger which I would recommend. Nowhere near as expensive as other similar places either. Manager even gave us a free bottle of prosecco as it was a birthday meal."

"Food is 5 stars! Delicious, fresh, fantastic presentation, well worth the money! The staff were all very friendly, professional, attentive knew the menu off by heart! I would recommend printing the fish menu, as you have a variety of options, it was hard to remember the description of each dish when the member of staff verbally informed us. The interiors could do with modernising, and you’d really have something special here! Overall fantastic food and service, highly recommend!"

"This was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had! I was shocked to find raw meatballs in my dish—what kind of chef serves undercooked meat? My husband’s pie was mostly made up of tough pastry and gray, unappealing mashed potatoes, all drenched in a thick, congealed sauce. By the time my meal was finally replaced—after a lengthy 15-minute wait—my husband had already finished his. Overall, it was a disappointing experience that was unappetizing and potentially hazardous. Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 2"

"The best way to describe the Creel Inn is that the kitchen showcases a remarkable level of skill. My wife and I enjoyed a two-course lunch there today after a refreshing walk from Stonehaven to Dunnotar Castle, so we were definitely hungry! I had the black pudding scotch egg served on pea shoots with a peppercorn sauce, followed by battered haddock and chips. My wife chose a crayfish salad, which was followed by mussels in a chili and coconut sauce. The sauce for the mussels was one of the finest I’ve ever tasted; my wife insisted I try it, and the layers of flavor were truly outstanding. The scotch egg was excellent, and the fish and chips were among the best you can find on the east coast of Scotland—the batter was light and crispy, the chips were heavenly, and the fish was cooked to perfection. The prices were reasonable, and the house wines were very enjoyable. Overall, it’s a delightful restaurant well worth the effort to find (it certainly confused our sat nav!)."

"Lovely place to enjoy all types of food and beverages anytime of the day. Has a great location which isn’t in the busy side and great views. The food was a really good balance and taste fresh like they just plucked it out from their local supply (the English Channel). Convenient, friendly and would recommend. "Pre booked 6pm Mother 's Day...Sounded like a lively Benidorm bar from the outside which was worrying...inside the volume was plainly ridiculous for a restaurant, lots of irritated adults and kids covering their ears to drown out the Prince and Elton John covers being warbled in true pub singer style. Only offensive due to the volume to give the fellow his proper credit. Nice bit of saxophone too.20 mins to take drinks orders frustrating as the skeleton staff mooched around hugging other customers, chatting etc.15 min wait for drinks to arrive and food order to be taken.No veggie options apart from a cheese on toast starter and chips...this can be excused due to the small menu (a good thing usually) and can happen anywhere so we won 't dwell on that.We then waited a further 50 mins for food until one of the blokes sidled up to us and told us that the 'chef had walked out ' and it was the 'second one today ' This seems to be at odds with other stories being told about running out of food. If you 're going to make a complete hash of something at least get your stories straight would be my advice.We left at this point where a lady had the audacity to ask if we 'd paid when really she should have been handing us free money I told her to keep the 20 quid deposit for the drinks and we 'd call it quits.This may very well have been a one off very bad day however it 's not a place we 'll be trying again in a hurry. Shame because although the service has always been rubbish, the food used to be marvelous."

"Called in Thursday lunchtime with husband. He had beef sandwich with chunky chips and gravy, I had prawn sandwich with chips and salad. The food arrived promptly and was absolutely delicious, served by very friendly and attentive staff. There was a steady stream of people coming in for food as the pub seemed very popular. I would not hesitate to recommend this pub to anyone. Everything was absolutely top notch! Price per person: £20–30"

"This was my second visit to the restaurant; I had come here two years ago, and the food was much better then. Unfortunately, we encountered issues with all five of our main dishes, but since we hadn't eaten all day, we managed to finish most of the food. The risotto was overcooked, resulting in an unpleasantly chewy texture. The steak was also overcooked and needed to be replaced. Additionally, the carbonara lacked bacon and was completely bland, with little to no seasoning. We didn’t want to make a big fuss about the food, but when our waiter asked for our feedback, we shared our honest opinions. The problems with the overpriced and disappointing main courses made us reluctant to order dessert. Overall, our waiter did discount some of the bill, but it really took away from my graduation meal. I don’t think I’ll be coming back again."

"I went with the family on Saturday night, eating was amazing, the presentation was excellent as art works on a teller. the choices were very plentiful, and the staff was very attentive and very responsive with extraordinary interpersonal skills that they really feel special, we were never rushed and the times again between the directed was fantastic. the toilets were immaculate and had the added as hand creamer etc. the only thing I could say in a negative comment was we asked for some water between the meal etc., received a blue bottle water that was expensive and only enough for a person. a jug with lemon would have been fantastic. but I would not have to worry about in a heartbeat return for this extra special meal with fantastic environment, much space around moving around and the most amazing eating and attentive staff to feel that extra something special. but we are definitiw again x x"

"We visited for a evening meal with friends . Our friends enjoyed there meal. My husband and I ordered the crab cake for starters. When it was served we both eate it and both said it tasty of potato but hardly any crab and there wasnt much of a sauce with it. My husband ordered Thai green curry with chicken. When he took his first bite the chilli was so hot and so much chilli cut over it all that it burnt his throat. He couldn't eat it and he told the waitress but nothing was done. My husband is used too eating madras but the amount of hot chilli added to this dish was ridulous. We were charged for the unadible meal and my husband went home hungry. Personally if it had been my meal I would have refused to pay for it or I would have expected another meal should have been offered."

"Booked a table for 4 never been before, I know few people who have been several times not sure why. I think it lacks service not particularly friendly waiters only smiled when I did. I felt like they could have made more of an effort, we told them it was our first time and only had Thai once before. They were not interested in talking about the menu maybe because they didn’t understand or couldn’t hear as did notice one waiter had a hearing aid. Also they were all elderly and didn’t look Like they really wanted to be there. The decor was awful Christmas lights and various old fashioned pieces around the restaurant rather off putting. The food On the other hand was not bad I had tiger cry sirloin beef which was tasty and prawn noodles which were nice. The fish cakes for starter were not nice rubbery. I would go back for a second time and try some Other dishes but not in a hurry."

"The most unprofessional service I have ever experienced!!! Spoken to with contempt on arrival as we had arrived 4 minutes after our booking which was made a day before, then pointed to an area where we should sit at a specific table that had no...coasters for our drinks, no menu’s, napkins or cutlery for our food though each and every other table was set up correctly for customer arrival. Then when we had our drinks we had to take napkins from an empty table for the landlady/bar manager to have the audacity to question my partner for taking the napkins as if she was doing something wrong. Furthermore spending the whole entire time we were there with her back to the few customers that were visiting the venue chatting away to the bar staff. RUDE!!!! Thank you for the poor service, made it extremely easy to decide not to visit the venue again."
