"I was worried about eating at the pub because of the bad reviews, but thought I give it a go. We ate there on the Friday and Saturday night as we were staying at the campsite and couldn’t be bothered to cook ourselves. The staff were very friendly and the pub has a nice atmosphere. Sadly the food lets it down. My son had the steak both nights and complained that the chips weren’t cooked enough both times, the steak was nice on the Friday but not so good on the Saturday. I had fish and chips on the Friday, which was ok, I had the lamb on the Saturday which was just alright . My other son had the burger which he said the cheese wasn’t very nice. My wife had the tartlet which was burnt around the edges and tasteless. I liked the campsite, but I won’t be rushing back to eat at the pub."

"Simple answer would be. Loved the food well flavoured and cooked. Two of the photos are starters mushroom cheese the other chicken winds. The Mains chicken burger chips, beef burger chips and fajitas. The staff were very attentive and friendly. They catered for 10 of us which was appreciated. Hopefully when I'm down that way to visit my friends I can persuade them to have a meal there."

"Fantastic service. Greeted the moment my boyfriend and I walked in the door. We had to be seated at the bar initially because the place was full, they were quick to serve us our drinks and provide menus, then the moment a table became available they grabbed us : . "The curry was edible but far from enjoyable. The chicken in the burger was made from two dry pieces of reformed meat covered in breadcrumbs, served alongside what can only be described as a meager portion of overcooked fries. It was a terrible main course. For dessert, we chose cheesecakes, hoping that even a frozen version would suffice since we were both hungry. Unfortunately, we were mistaken; they were unappetizing, and we left them behind uneaten. While the staff was friendly and polite, which we appreciate, it felt like the Holiday Inn was focused on providing low-quality, cost-effective food. This experience tarnished what should have been a special gift and a much-needed escape from work. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience."

"Beware of this restaurant's lack of customer service. We paid for a meal only to discover 45 minutes later that our order had not been sent to the kitchen. The bartender refunded our money, but this experience caused us to lose a group of 7 customers who had planned to stay for cocktails and more drinks. We have been regular customers at this restaurant for a while and we are extremely disappointed."

"A classy, romantic setting with tables nicely presented and well spaced out. Booked our table in advance over the phone and this seems to be essential. £25 for such quality food in such a nice environment is an absolute steal, not to mention the free glass of a rather palatable wine!Pate and crayfish both very good starters and excellent sea bass and lamb shoulder main courses, although I’d have probably liked a little more variety of vegetables with the latter aside from just some garden peas. Cherry and almond tart and sticky toffee pudding both beautiful and the cappuccinos finished things nicely, though I’d have happily paid a bit more for a cheeseboard if it was available. Given the chance we’d have maybe stayed for a gin or two but we were presented with our bill with our coffees without asking so presumably they wanted to clear the dining area and the bar area seemed to be residents only. Only minor gripe would be that our empty beer bottles/wine decanters weren’t ever cleared from the table even though they had all been presented even before our starter."

"my partner and I have booked this restaurant for our first night in york. this is the second time that we were in york and a few days before our arrival I googled best Italian restaurants in york, as we did not manage to find one that we were really happy with the last time. the entire booking process was easy, the website was beautiful and the cover decoration photos looked stunning. we went from our hotel and realized that it was only around the corner of our favorite the botanist. the outer was beautiful and the interieur was like something from paris stunning! once I sat on the chair next to me until I saw the waitress offered to take the hand of the couple next to us. I then asked if she were in order to take my what she did. we ordered the half- cheese and half-tomat garlic bread together with a cocktail and a beer to share. Unfortunately, our garlic bread arrived and I had to hunt my drink, then I found out they were off, but I chose another and that came fast. both I and my partner said it was the best garlic bread we've ever had. the passion fruit cocktail was also beautiful. I chose penne arrabiata for my head without meat and my partner had the meatballs. I usually fight with arrabbiata, as restaurants sometimes too much chili in but, that was perfect. everything from ambiente to eating and drinking was absolutely breathable. it is safe to say that this will be our way to the restaurant when we in york will return my favorite Italian restaurant until today!"

"If you want something quirky then this is worth a visit, the restaurant is situated in the old parade room of the police station, complete with lockers and old police memorabilia. It was late Saturday afternoon so the place was not busy and there was only one other table taken, due to this there was a lack of atmosphere, however, I suspect at night it may fill up more. The only problem is that you cannot see how full it is in advance, as you are taken upstairs by the waitress. The old cells have been renovated into private booths on the ground floor, so if you are a small party this may suit you.We had the cod cheeks but could not taste any beer in the batter, the peas were nice but not very hot. The cocktails were lovely and service was good.One thing to note It hadn't been open that long but already the tables were beginning to show signs of staining, it may be an idea for tablecloths to be used to cover this up."

I used to think Schwartz bros was the best burger in Bath but since I discovered Bear Grills I would always prefer them, hands down tastiest burger I’ve ever had. "Booked via phone a couple of weeks ahead , got an immediate confirmation text. Apparently you can now book online. On arrival we were told our table was in the bar , I had requested a table in the restaurant , this was honoured happily. They were quite busy but plenty of staff. The menu has had a revamp which is great , could have had any of the starters but selected the baked Brie bites which came with salad and a dip, really nice. For mains we had roasts , the lamb was delicious , good quality and attractive presentation . It came with stuffing, a delicious gravy , parsnip and roast potatoes, in addition nicely cooked cabbage and the MOST cheesy cauliflower cheese …really good. The roast pork was also well received. (There were 3 roast options in beef) . For the sweet toothed in the party there was chocolate cheesecake, sticky toffee pudding and a pear crumble. All presented beautifully. The quality was outstanding throughout and for four people 3 x two courses 1 x three courses and drinks came to £130. Service was efficient , only blip was a starter plate being removed before the other person having a starter had finished. Will definitely go back really enjoyed our lunch . Well done to everyone."

"Went for early dinner before a concert. Menu was very short but managed to cover quite a range of options. I had the haddock goujons and my partner had the vegetable cassoulet. Both dishes were quite nice but not spectacular. The staff were very good and acted very rapidly when my partner found her dish unexpectedly contained chilli. The range and quality of the beer is very high."

"This was our second visit once again were not disappointed. We came back having visited previously (it did not take much persuasion) The menu is good and the venue has a pleasant ambiance. The staff are all friendly and seem to enjoy working there which sets it apart from certain chains. This isn’t cheap and I would say is comparable to the afore mentioned chains, the difference in my opinion is the quality and the feeling of it being cooked on a non industrial basis. You can see into the kitchen which is quite cool with quirky stuff on the walls. (They also sell branded merchandise if that is your thing) they seem to have a tie up with a local brewery and both the cider and IPA they had on tap was great. They seem to be fully geared up with a vegan menu which I know seems to be of growing importance and seemed to surprise some patrons. I would happily tackle another burger and literally demolished a massive burger with loads of extras, I like me burgers cooked towards the rare side and the burgers were pretty close to spot on. You can do a lot worse than a trip here!"

"had the worst cup warm coffee. I asked to warm it up. the personal polite and courteous and took it to be warmed, it came again exactly the same test. I had also asked for a pot of hot water and was brought half a cup of hot water. also a glass koks ordered. a pint of the flattest coke arrived. they changed it, but the replacement was the same. black sirup without pizz. the table was sticky. a very nice team of employees has overcome it for me. it was still sticky, so I used a serviette to lean before me. my meal should have a side salad. that consisted of a few leaves and a piece of yellow pfeffer. no tomato, no gurke, no wobble. just a few mingling leaves. the carpet on the top floor has seen better days and was full of food, chips that were thrown off and I was very dissapointed. it was not a good experience. this place really went down the pointed. it was really happy to come here, everyone was no longer sa. I had a similar experience before a couple of weeks, but I thought I would give him another attempt, as we all earn a 2nd chance, and I also usually, like the place. all that seems to be right now, is great prices for very average food in a devastating environment. needs a good refund or at least one more pure. even the bar looks like a tip. nothing's ever been dreamed. the staff is always helpful and polite. they only need more if they."
