Succulent pork belly, perfectly crispy on the outside and tender inside, served with a tangy glaze.

"The food was delicious as always. However, we were disappointed to find that they had run out of my favorite beer (Citra). Additionally, the temperature where we were seated was a bit too cold for our liking, so we have to give it a slightly lower score."

"Beautifully restored historical hotel dating back to 15th century with original beams throughout. Quaint and charming with lovely rooms. Ours, room 1 had a modern refurbished bathroom and was a lovely size equipped with day bed, king beds, dressing table, drawers and wardrobe with ample space. Breakfast must not be missed, this is one of the best places to eat in the village with a reputation for perfect Sunday roasts. Our cooked breakfasts were delicious with lots of choice from full English, eggs royale, vegan and vegetarian options plus cereals, yogurt and granary. Decent sized car park and there are some converted barn rooms that I believe are wheelchair accessible. Lovely friendly staff. Highly recommend."

"Great place service and our waiter was spot on. Only downfall we ordered lamb chops and the fat on them was a joke!! Must of had two to three mouthfuls of actual lamb all the rest was fat. Ruined the experience really. The other food was great. Never waited long for food or drinks. Lovely place, fab atmosphere staff are great."

"It should be a no star but that doesn't exist. Save your money and avoid this place at all costs. A supermarket's own chicken soup is more spicy than the szechuan chicken. It was bland, tasteless and watery. The egg fried rice was just rice with a clumpy egg on the top of the rice when you opened the lid off the plastic container. The prawn crackers were not the freshest, and tasted as if a day old. All in all, a total waste of time and money. Avoid this place if you want anything that resembles an authentic Chinese dish. Reading previous reviews is helpful, and it's eye opening why there is no response from the restaurant on any of the feedback comments. I'd be mortified if I received any negative review and would want to correct things asap if I wanted to stay in business."

"a very nice culinary experience. the first thing they notice is the beautiful interieur, but tattu has much more than that it offers a very beautiful and holistic culinary experience. Eating is perhaps best explained as western interpretation of traditional Chinese foods. that does not make it worse, in the opposite it is excellent. from good ingredients, well balanced taste and easy to find a good menu. I tried the modern Sharing menu, which is a very large meal together. there are also many beautiful drinks on the menu. the real cherry on the cake is the service that the staff is excellent, very professional and very friendly. highly recommended and will come back sometime!"

"My husband booked us a special meal at this restaurant in Malahide for our 48th wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, it turned out to be special for all the wrong reasons. When we arrived, no one was at the door initially. We were then shown upstairs to a table and given a choice, which was nice. We chose a quiet table at the back. The young waitress was pleasant and quickly took our order, but things went downhill from there. My scallop starter only had one full scallop and two half scallops, though the flavor was good. We waited 40 minutes for our main course, and my husband had to close a window himself since no staff were around. There were only 12 other diners, so it wasn't busy. We had to ask where our mains were. When our food finally arrived, my pork belly was incredibly salty, and there were no vegetables on the plate. We had finished our meal by the time our wine came, which was on the house to make up for the delay. They said they were training chefs. We decided not to stay for dessert and instead bought ice cream on a nearby street. Overall, it was a wedding anniversary meal to remember for all the wrong reasons."

"I don't usually like to leave bad reviews but I was so disappointed I wanted to spare other vegans the same experience. I was asked if I had any dietary requirements and I said I was vegan. They brought my mushroom spring rolls out with a sour cream dip which wasn't vegan. The waiter said he could make the Singapore noodles vegan too, but when it arrived it had an egg in it The Tofu hotpot was very tasty and the vegan chick'n and black bean was too but not worth the cost. Very expensive!! There is a DJ playing music that is so loud you can barely hear the people at your own table. The cherry blossom trees are over the top too the waiter made a point of telling us all about them as soon as we sat down. Individual petals made from silk you picked the wrong customer to impress with that story I'm afraid. A VEGAN!"

"My husband and I visited on the first day restaurants could open post-lockdown. It was a brilliant experience! The staff were super friendly, the distancing measures were great with staff wearing masks and tables far apart and we felt very safe indeed. But most importantly, the food was delicious! We had the edamame starter and it was absolutely delicious (the sauce was to die for) and then shared a vegan burger and the vegan chilli. Both were very good and the portions were just right (not too big). Other tempting menu options were the tofu tacos, the Buddha bowl and the Japanese bowl. For dessert they have a vegan icecream sundae which you can choose your own toppings (all of them vegan except one) and a vegan brownie (this was out of stock). Their mint lemonade is also fantastic! All in all, it was a perfect evening. Their breakfast menu also looks fab so no doubt we’ll pop back for some vegan pancakes on Sunday!"

"I’m a big fan of this restaurant. Pea and fontina fritters were delicious, super crispy squid and a good marguerita pizza though I would have liked a little more topping and a bit less crust. Service was super attentive and charming. When we came in we were tempted by a refreshing goblet of aperol spritz we saw another customer drinking. It was so good I ordered a second which came in a tumbler. Not the same drink at all, the proportions were all wrong. Staff told me they only had 2 goblets and it was ‘ not company policy’ to serve them in the goblets! Really! What a shame as it ruined the drink. The lady on the next table sent her tumbler back, good on her. Please listen to your customers, invest in a few more decent glasses You will sell more if the drink is good and your customers will be happy ."

"Overall, my experience was quite disappointing. I made a reservation for six people, but when we arrived, the staff informed us that they no longer use OpenTable for bookings and had no record of our reservation. It was frustrating to see that the restaurant was only half full. To add to the disappointment, they told us they weren't serving Sunday roasts and suggested we try the other restaurant in the hotel, called Zest, which we ended up doing. It's clear that someone needs to take action and remove this restaurant from the site."

"The food in the cafe is really nice, decent quality. The Shop and Garden part is a good size and plenty to buy. However, service in the cafe was awful. Very slow and inattentive hence only 3 stars. Berry Smoothie- not at all! More like a vanilla milkshake with no taste of berries. Asked for a fanta instead, which was brought to the table AFTER we had ate AND paid. No apology from the waitress which is rude. Car parking is hectic."

"This is the 2nd time this year that I’ve been to krewe, and it exceeds standards each time. Today we didn’t have a booking but there wasn’t a long wait. We’ve had the same server each time, didn’t catch her name but she’s super friendly and helpful. We also arrived at the time when they were switching from brunch to dinner; so we were told it might take a couple minutes longer for the grub. This wasn’t an issue at all because servers are so fast and great at checking in on the guests. Will definitely be back "

"The food was a range of great to average. Started with snacks. The truffle bake was a nice kickoff to the palate. The smoked eel was pretty lacklustre. The seabass caparcio was a little too sour on the fish and a tad too much green sauce. The squid pasta was fantastic. Al dente with a great boost of flavour. The dill and meat surprisingly went well together. The veal chop was large in portion and a little too meaty towards the end. Overall a good meal. Service was attentive. Got pretty busy towards 7."

"The service is good not polished (they are learning) but willing, helpful and friendly. The food is better than the average restaurant thoughtful menu with unfamiliar combinations served attractively and tasting good. More adventurous than usual (as you might expect from a catering college) and it brings it off. I thought it risky to offer battered fish (such an everyday dish) until I tasted it the batter was extraordinary and the fish right. What did surprise me was that there were only 3 tables occupied at 7pm on a Thursday I would have thought that it would be booked out especially at the prices charged (low side of average). Oh Well, such is Sunderland, and I shall go back regularly."

"We booked a table for 7pm, we were led to believe the place was busy so changed plans elsewhere to be able to be they're for 7pm. When we arrived at the restaurant ot looked as though it was just opening, there were no customers in! The greeter said they had been busy but it had just emptied so would we like a drink while they cleared the table for us? We ordered a bottle of prosecco and took a seat in the bar area. After 20 minutes we were told that the kitchen closed at 7.30pm!!! We hadn't even been seated! We decided to just have the drink and go somewhere else the next massive disappointment was £45 for a bottle of prosecco that they then added a service charge for £51+ absolutely disgusted. Why reserve tables for 30mins before the kitchen closes? Service charge for a bottle of wine when we hardly had anything amounting to service? The dirty table linen was all piled up by the till and there were bags of rubbish in the doorways, not only was service non existent but the place looked a mess!"

"The food was quite mediocre we had the Roast and it looked good but came out a bit burnt and was quite bland. Also they had a pub quiz on that same night and are not really technologically advanced so the quiz master kept running around and shouting the questions several times around the pub. So probably best not coming here on Sunday afternoons if you're looking for a quiet one. Good wine selection though..."

"When I had eaten several times in the shepherd and dog, I was very disappointed last Wednesday. we waited at least 20 minutes for someone to pick up our order, and it was almost an hour when we had set ourselves until we got to eat. we chose from the a la carte menu where past eating was excellent, but on Wednesday the appetizers and main course were very mediocre. nothing like taste, presentation and quality at previous visits. the only saving gnade was the sharing gloomy. we stayed at least one more hour at the table talk and the desert plates and coffee saucers were just left and not removed. my friends and I have often visited for special occasions, but at £40 per head for a midday week without wine we expect better service and eat."

"a jewel of a place, unique in its slightly decadent 1930s style. reliable kitchen, friendly and attentive service. reasonable eating and a well-priced wine list that covers all the needs from modest glass wein to extravagant partysect and impressively noble bottles. the fish selection is wide and everything was perfectly cooked. can't fail"
