"Our first experience at a Zizzi… We arrived at 12:30 on a Saturday expecting the place to be packed but happily we managed to get a table straight away we had a nice booth tucked away in the corner. I visited the toilets first of all which, let me just say.. the corridor definitely took me by surprise! Each toilet is in its own little room with your own personal sink, I think it’s the best way to have public toilets. First of all, we ordered drinks which was 2x glass bottle cokes which are the best type our drinks came with a complimentary portion of pasta crisps. We ordered a cheesy garlic bread without the caramelised onions for starter which arrived pre sliced and was really delicious, it could’ve done with a little more cheese though. For mains, my partner had spaghetti bolognese and I had the pepperoni campagna pizza with added chicken. The pizza was delicious, a little unbalanced on the toppings, it was nice and full on the right side of the pizza compared to the left side but I was full by the time I reached that side anyway! Bonus points for the mini pizza cutter, that was brilliant. The food was generally good, my partner said the spaghetti needed a little salt to bring the flavour out but it was a good sized portion and both meals were made with quality ingredients. During the main course, I ordered a couple of “softail” drinks; the Pineapple Punch and the Passion Fruitini I wasn’t very impressed with these, they were far too sweet and mostly filled with ice, I just expected more for from two drinks that cost £9.90. The staff were generally friendly, we did keep hearing one of the chefs shouting at one of his co workers, something about a metal bowl but he was very loud and aggressive not something you want to have on show if you’re going to have a open kitchen in your restaurant. We used the QR code to pay our bill which was a nice and easy way to do it."

"DIl the Bear is a well regimented and efficient pleasant café serving beverages, pastries, quality cakes, tasty breakfasts and imaginative lunches. First find a seat, decide what you want, return to the counter to order and pay. Take-aways may be ordered directly at the counter where high stools are available at the bar opposite for waiting. Dil now only accepts card payment, they accept neither cash nor cheques. The usual selection of coffees is made by the barista staff and food is cooked in a small kitchen at the rear. The pastries and cakes are homemade and are regularly featured on Dil’s Facebook page. A selection of cold drinks is available. Menus are available on clip boards beside the counter for perusal at your table and a list of specials is written up each day. The café is closed on Mondays except sometimes when Monday is a bank holiday then the café is closed on Tuesday instead (Usually notified on Facebook). Prices are moderate to high but reasonable. There is additional seating on the pavement under cover of an awning. Dogs are allowed outside but not at the inside tables. Blankets are offered for cold days. There is a toilet at the rear opposite the kitchen. When the café is busy it can be difficult to obtain a table without going all the way inside seeking a free seat. In these circumstances, we find it necessary to ask the knowledgeable staff if there are any tables free rather than mount a full-scale expedition to locate one. Tap water may be obtained by customers at a service point opposite the counter on a strictly self-service basis. Beware: breakfasts may only be ordered up to 11:30 while lunches may only be ordered from 12:00. The staff are helpful, kind, and pleasant and customers ordering breakfasts or lunches may negotiate substitution items in most cases."
