"I had a camp and a speck and cheeseburger with dirty pommes. the burger was excellent, near the best I ever had, but the real manifestation were the dirty pommes. these were loaded with baked beans, chiilli, bark brisket and makkaroni cheese. really a whole, and very tasty, meal all alone. Unfortunately, the eiskrem had run out, so I didn't deal with an unnecessary dessert. a note: the restaurant does not serve any kind of hot drinks that is an unusual choice, so do not expect them coffee or tee."

"I went to brunch at The Bath while visiting Dublin. I was staying with a couple of friends from Dublin, and they always talked about how much they love Irish breakfasts. I really wanted to try it, so my friends took me here! We all got the Bath Fry, which is an Irish breakfast. It had potatoes, tomatoes, sausage, black pudding, and more. Not being Irish, I was hesitant to try black pudding (it is a sausage made of blood and fat for other non-Irish folk). One of my friends insisted though, and it was actually really tasty! The atmosphere at The Bath was so adorable. They served cocktails in tea kettles, and plates had beautiful blue designs, and the outdoor seating area was lovely. I would definitely recommend brunch at The Bath!"

"I go to The Plough fairly regularly for food and drinks but always leave feeling a little underwhelmed and overcharged. The ambience and atmosphere is always great; both inside and outside you’ll get a great buzz and a pleasant place to sit. The menu is on paper excellent. I’ve eaten there for brunch and dinner and there is something for everyone. Most recently I had a full English there. It cost £16 and the plate was mostly filled with pretty sorry looking undercooked mushrooms and tomatoes. The one sausage was very nice but the streaky bacon was a bit chewy. For £16 it was underwhelming, which is a theme that translates to the dinner menu as well. You rarely feel like the food matches the price tag. This overpricing extends to drinks as well, which are far more expensive than in similar local gastropubs. I lot of people like The Plough and I can see why but if you’re into food there are better local options that won’t hurt your wallet as much."

"Avoid at all costs, and it cost a lot!. I went to Las Iguanas last night for the first time and I have to say, I was NOT impressed. We were seated fairly quickly, but that is where the praise for Las Iguanas ends Service was extremely slow and somewhat incompetent... We only had two courses each but ended up waiting for so long that we were actually in the restaurant for 3 and a half hours!! When the food finally arrived, it was brought out at different times (some of us had finished before others had even got theirs) and it was cold. Portions were also far too small given the high prices, especially the desserts. For what we paid I'd expect far better quality, bigger portions and...read more"

"What an outstanding experience! I took my mum to Las Iguanas for the Bubbly Brunch to celebrate her 60th Birthday. From the moment we stepped through the door, the staff couldn't do enough for us. The menu was fully explained, including recommendations, new additions etc, as were the drinks. We opted for the bubbly brunch which included a starter, main 4 drinks each for £31.95 fantastic value. Both food and drinks were delicious (highly recommend the chicken enchiladas and the Pink Bubbles). The cherry on the cake was by far the service. Ryan was amazing! We'd had a disappointing experience the night before and Ryan alone more than made up for it. He was bubbly, warm and really made us feel special he's an absolute STAR! Cannot wait to come back!!!"

"Walked in on a Saturday night. Place was quite busy but we were let in (had to check in for track&trace) to the bar. Fortunately, we found a table and had our drinks there with nice music played by a DJ. Tables were placed relatively apart from each other which gave space to groups to enjoy themselves without constantly bumping into someone. There were different seating arrangements to accommodate smaller and larger groups as well. Bar staff was really friendly and professional. ONLY CARD PAYMENTS, contactless preferred. Tables were cleaned between customers, restroom was well-maintained."

"A truly painful experience. Waited over an hour for food with people who came in after us being served before us as our waitress obviously forgot to put the order through. Got sat next to the door on a chilly day whilst large groups of teenagers were in and out constantly vaping/smoking leaving the door open. Had to get up to close it all the time; luckily a family was sat next to us who tagged in with the door closing. It seemed tables just drinking were prioritised over people ordering food. And when we finally got our food I found a bit of metal Brillo pad/scourer in the chips. A restaurant run by children for children to get drunk on cheap cocktails, definitely not somewhere to go for dinner."

"I’ve not been to a Wagamama for a few years but if this place is a yardstick it has really gone down hill! The south Asian serving staff seem more interested in staring at customers than actually serving and our waitress has no idea on how to serve food! It’s simply thrown down at the end of the table and help yourself ! Appalling really. Katsu curry was decent … if you like sauce that tasted like it was microwaved from a tescos ready meal . Really enjoyed the chicken katsu was crispy. First meal I’ve had when I don’t want to pay the service charge it was that bad!"

"The food at this restaurant is really good, but what truly made the bottomless brunch special was the waitress named Nikol. She made the experience unforgettable and I will definitely be returning in the future."

"What can I say… we were kept waiting for our table , finally seated and took forever for cocktails (I use the term loosely)to arrive. They were good enough to accommodate a special diet for medical reasons BUT if asked for non spicy there is a reason so why serve it! Felt sorry for the young waiter was doing his best and should have had help but was just overwhelmed In all for what you pay not worth it."

"Sat in a booth requiring use of the QR code to order. Fine accept not the greatest app. Ordered a cranberry juice then changed our minds, removed it from the order but it still went through. Rather unfriendly waitress proceeded to lecture us on the fact that once order submitted its too late. Seeing as we had pressed submit literally a minute a before, we could cancel, so not a great start. Ordered the Mexican poppadoms and enchiladas. Expected the poppadoms to come first as “nibble while you wait” but they arrived at the same time as the enchiladas which was a little odd as they didn’t tell us this would happen up front. The food arrived very rapidly which is good but would have liked to take our time a bit. The enchiladas were delicious. Overall slightly soulless, not sure I’d go back."

"Food was really good but took an hour to get our order taken. Nice not to be rushed but that was ridiculous. Also, not particularly impressed with COViD precautions menus were not disposable and shared between tables with no wiping or sanitisation. Also, everyone was squished into one area of the restaurant with no regard for social distancing."

"I have visited here around the times and look forward to the pina coladas by dredging the barkeeper. He must have known how to make them perfect. I have visited many bars and there is always a handle somewhere, but not. here was eating fantastic and the service of dredging brad was excellent. can't wait to visit again when I'm here for the weekend."

"we went to las iguanas on lakeside on Monday bank holiday 31. May 2021. Although it was very busy, we were able to book a table for an hour and half, so we hanged around the shopping center until our time was up. the staff was very friendly and welcoming. eating was very good and a good value for money. I didn't go to enjoy getting a free deal on the cocktails, but will go back definately as they looked very good. if at all, I would say that the muisc was quite loud, but that did not affect our experience and the whole family was quite happy."

"Our first experience at a Zizzi… We arrived at 12:30 on a Saturday expecting the place to be packed but happily we managed to get a table straight away we had a nice booth tucked away in the corner. I visited the toilets first of all which, let me just say.. the corridor definitely took me by surprise! Each toilet is in its own little room with your own personal sink, I think it’s the best way to have public toilets. First of all, we ordered drinks which was 2x glass bottle cokes which are the best type our drinks came with a complimentary portion of pasta crisps. We ordered a cheesy garlic bread without the caramelised onions for starter which arrived pre sliced and was really delicious, it could’ve done with a little more cheese though. For mains, my partner had spaghetti bolognese and I had the pepperoni campagna pizza with added chicken. The pizza was delicious, a little unbalanced on the toppings, it was nice and full on the right side of the pizza compared to the left side but I was full by the time I reached that side anyway! Bonus points for the mini pizza cutter, that was brilliant. The food was generally good, my partner said the spaghetti needed a little salt to bring the flavour out but it was a good sized portion and both meals were made with quality ingredients. During the main course, I ordered a couple of “softail” drinks; the Pineapple Punch and the Passion Fruitini I wasn’t very impressed with these, they were far too sweet and mostly filled with ice, I just expected more for from two drinks that cost £9.90. The staff were generally friendly, we did keep hearing one of the chefs shouting at one of his co workers, something about a metal bowl but he was very loud and aggressive not something you want to have on show if you’re going to have a open kitchen in your restaurant. We used the QR code to pay our bill which was a nice and easy way to do it."

"Our recent trip to Las iguanas was really good. We did the late night bottomless brunch and really enjoyed it. The service from Emma was absolutely amazing. She was really on top of drinks orders which, for me, is the most important part of a bottomless brunch experience. The menu had a decent amount to chose from, both food and drinks. I would be happy to pay the £35 for that again."

"DIl the Bear is a well regimented and efficient pleasant café serving beverages, pastries, quality cakes, tasty breakfasts and imaginative lunches. First find a seat, decide what you want, return to the counter to order and pay. Take-aways may be ordered directly at the counter where high stools are available at the bar opposite for waiting. Dil now only accepts card payment, they accept neither cash nor cheques. The usual selection of coffees is made by the barista staff and food is cooked in a small kitchen at the rear. The pastries and cakes are homemade and are regularly featured on Dil’s Facebook page. A selection of cold drinks is available. Menus are available on clip boards beside the counter for perusal at your table and a list of specials is written up each day. The café is closed on Mondays except sometimes when Monday is a bank holiday then the café is closed on Tuesday instead (Usually notified on Facebook). Prices are moderate to high but reasonable. There is additional seating on the pavement under cover of an awning. Dogs are allowed outside but not at the inside tables. Blankets are offered for cold days. There is a toilet at the rear opposite the kitchen. When the café is busy it can be difficult to obtain a table without going all the way inside seeking a free seat. In these circumstances, we find it necessary to ask the knowledgeable staff if there are any tables free rather than mount a full-scale expedition to locate one. Tap water may be obtained by customers at a service point opposite the counter on a strictly self-service basis. Beware: breakfasts may only be ordered up to 11:30 while lunches may only be ordered from 12:00. The staff are helpful, kind, and pleasant and customers ordering breakfasts or lunches may negotiate substitution items in most cases."

"Thanks so much to Craig and the team! Mum`s 70th get together was delayed 2 years due to covid. Craig sorted us an area for free at one end of the pub, brilliant communication throughout. No problem to drop the cake and balloons earlier in the day. We already had our dj booked and deposit paid 2 years prior, Craig was happy to have him and the area was perfect. We also had a photographer. Craig also sorted the finger food, which was snapped up super quick! It was a family gathering for all ages, so Craig allowed us 4-9pm so that the children were allowed in. There were around 30 of us and the area Craig sorted was perfect. We had the best day, dancing away! Thoroughly recommend The Spread Eagle if you are looking for a unique area for an intimate gathering. Even the staff and local drinkers at the other end of the bar were signing and having a dance too, so a great day had by all! Thanks so much again Craig and The Spread Eagle team!"

"Made a late booking for the Sunday roast spoke to the lovely Wendy the manager, over the phone she done everything she could to accommodate myself and partner. What a lovely warm welcome we got. We were welcomed like old friends. The food was amazing home cooked hot food. It felt like going to someone’s house for Christmas Day. Can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough. The service was spot on, the staff lovely and welcoming and the atmosphere was relaxed and spotlessly clean. The prices were reasonable. We enjoyed a lovely beef roast with all the trimming including extra gravy, follows by aunties homemade pavlova. I don’t normally leave reviews, but felt I had to after visiting this gem of a place. Which I found via trip advisor so thought only fair for me to also report back after my Visit. If your near or staying in Southend and don’t visit this restaurant your be sorry. Can’t rate highly enough. Thank you Wendy and team. See you again soon. Lindsey and Mark from Kent"
