"I attended a baby shower here which included afternoon tea, I want to start with some positives the building is beautiful and is decorated lovely, very instagrammable the patisserie cakes look really pretty! But we experienced quite a few negatives during our time here, we were changed last minute from their other cafe to this one, the room was small and as a group of 24 we were very crammed in. The staff weren't overly great on the customer service front slightly rude in how they addressed customers, but i can understand that they were under pressure on this particular day with our group and other customers, definitely over booked and took on more than they could successfully manage. We also were not allowed in to set up ready for guests to arrive and were told to wait outside until our allotted time. Staff very much made their problems our problems with staff flapping and making comments but not actually doing anything, which led members of our group to clear tables and also remove 3 tables which we were actually using, as staff required them for another group booking... It was all very odd. There had not been a get out time communicated to us prior to our booking and we were very much made to feel that we were unwanted after a certain time. On the food front the sandwiches were stale from being made a lengthy time before our afternoon tea the scones were undercooked. Staff were also not attentive with repeat drinks orders, so actually lost out on custom in this respect. To end on a positive note though staff were apologetic regarding our experience, gave us free prosecco and took money off our bill so i can not fault this. Maybe a one off experience for us but i probably wouldn't recommend or go back, but others may have a totally different experience."

"The cake itself was beautiful to look at and in the end was everything I asked for. I booked GB cupcakery with confidence after seeing them and their team at a wedding fair a few years prior to the wedding who talked me through the process of ordering and made it all sound very personal. I have even attended the cafe numerous times. However the customer service around booking and arranging the design/tasting was challenging and I even had doubts at times the cake was going to be delivered on my wedding day. I know there was a global pandemic in the middle of it all, however the lack of communication from them was lacking throughout the process. We even booked a tasting box to collect from the cafe (after spending 3 months and numerous calls and emails trying to contact them) we drove 30 miles to collect it only to find they had NOT prepared the box for us. They did kindly post it out to us, however in the tasting box, one of the portions had a very large egg shell the size of a finger nail when I bit into it. I did email them to inform them of this along with my choice of flavours. However, no acknowledgement of this email was made when I spoke to them on the phone to tell Then my choices for the second time after I had waited with no reply for another 3 weeks from my said email. (at this point my mother was begging me to cancel the cake and loose my £165 deposit as she has worked in catering all her life and service like this is not what is expected) but i decided to stick with it and give them The benefit of doubt. Anyway the cake did turn up, they eventually the week before the day spoke through everything with us and the cake was beautiful on the day, with extra thanks to the flowers provided by the florist. The cake inside did have lumps of flour in the sponge but by this point that was expected as attention to detail when it came to the inside of the cakes is clearly looked over. I am glad to see that the option of booking wedding cakes is now NOT an option on their website as this company is clearly too busy with the cafe to care for wedding customers. Even after taking a £165 deposit. Their excuses for lack of communication was they had closed the direct email address for wedding enquiries. As they were too busy to take any more on. Which I can’t understand you doing without informing your brides and grooms of this change first. Thanks for the cake but I would not recommend using GB cupcakery for a wedding."
