"I attended a baby shower here which included afternoon tea, I want to start with some positives the building is beautiful and is decorated lovely, very instagrammable the patisserie cakes look really pretty! But we experienced quite a few negatives during our time here, we were changed last minute from their other cafe to this one, the room was small and as a group of 24 we were very crammed in. The staff weren't overly great on the customer service front slightly rude in how they addressed customers, but i can understand that they were under pressure on this particular day with our group and other customers, definitely over booked and took on more than they could successfully manage. We also were not allowed in to set up ready for guests to arrive and were told to wait outside until our allotted time. Staff very much made their problems our problems with staff flapping and making comments but not actually doing anything, which led members of our group to clear tables and also remove 3 tables which we were actually using, as staff required them for another group booking... It was all very odd. There had not been a get out time communicated to us prior to our booking and we were very much made to feel that we were unwanted after a certain time. On the food front the sandwiches were stale from being made a lengthy time before our afternoon tea the scones were undercooked. Staff were also not attentive with repeat drinks orders, so actually lost out on custom in this respect. To end on a positive note though staff were apologetic regarding our experience, gave us free prosecco and took money off our bill so i can not fault this. Maybe a one off experience for us but i probably wouldn't recommend or go back, but others may have a totally different experience."

"We have been to Lady B's before and have generally found it to be satisfactory. The decor is a bit old-fashioned but acceptable. This time, we just wanted a light lunch/brunch so we ordered a toastie, a panini, green tea, and earl grey tea. Pretty simple! We both prefer our tea without milk or sugar, but it was served in a pot with a teabag, making it too strong. We removed the teabags and requested a teapot of hot water to adjust the strength of our tea, but we were given a mug-sized jug of hot water instead. The food came with a few crisps and a small bowl of lettuce with a cherry tomato on top, but no dressing. When we asked for sauces, they were provided in small dishes. The toastie was fine but not very filling, while the panini was better filled but oddly crispy, as if it had been cooked in an air fryer. While eating, we finished our teas and once again requested a pot of hot water, but were given a mug-sized jug. We did manage to get a second cup of tea. Overall, the experience was unexciting but okay, so we paid the bill and left. On the way home, my wife asked about the cost, which was £20.60. I hadn't checked the bill earlier, but when I did at home, I was surprised and upset to see that we were charged 75p each for the sauces and 20p for each jug of water, totaling £1.90. It was never mentioned that these items would come at an additional cost, making us question if this had happened before. It seems unfair that we weren't compensated for not having milk or sugar in our tea, yet were charged to fix its excessive strength. Being offered sauce and dressing as though it was complimentary and then being charged a high amount for it seems unfair. The food was decent, but in our opinion, not worth the price. Our advice to others is to check everything carefully and be aware of what is provided and what is charged for. We will not be returning to Lady B's."
