"The Amaranto is like home from home for us as we've been going regularly for years. Unfortunately we hadn't been able to go for a while due to covid. Yesterday the service was average at best. The waiter informed us that due to covid and Brexit they needed to train more waiters, and that was the reason they were so under staffed. While I understand this, I'm not sure why they would then add 15% service charge to the bill knowing the service wasn't up to scratch. The desserts were unreasonably expensive, although they were delicious. The lounge looked dusty and the doors had finger prints all over them. I will not be rushing to go back any time soon. I must say, food was the same high standard and we thoroughly enjoyed what we ordered, thank you chef. As we were paying premium prices, we expected premium service and environment, unfortunately we get it."

"we had an absolutely magical evening. it was my friend's birthday and veronica and rhiannon took care of us so well! Veronica was excellent with her suggestions and recommended, not to mention her humor and her gast friendry as a whole! rhiannon was so beautiful and friendly to us, so patient with all the little questions and made the night so smooth for us. She even helped us to make some amazing pictures to immortalize the experience. eating was brilliant; absolutely delicious, came in good time, and very well prepared. compliments to the chefs! special word for the lychee sorbet and yuzu eis, for dying. also the beautiful birthday desert they gave us was fantastic! overall a brilliant experience 20/10"

"Superb experience at this wonderful find in a guidebook. We rang ahead to book a table and when we arrived were greeted by very friendly bar staff inviting us to our seats. The selection of Italian style tapas then was almost endless. Divided into clear to define sections, we settled on both styles of croquettes which were equally delectable and the arancini which perfectly delicious. Mains we chose pasta which were wonderful too, but the whole time you could really taste all the ingredients were really fresh and delicious. Then we were roped into the pub quiz going on which really sealed the deal. A wondeful hilarious evening with superb food. I will be back."

"There were 10 of us and the service was unbelievably slow. After ordering shortly after arriving, it took 1 hour 45mins for the food to arrive, this was far too long and totally unacceptable. It was obvious to all of us that there were far too many customers in the pub for the chefs and waiting staff to cope with. We could see exactly the same problems on adjacent tables. This was a family gathering and we were celebrating my wife’s birthday and we were all left very disappointed. What was was also annoying was that when I paid the bill and complained, I was offered lots of excuses for the delay but not once throughout the whole event did any of us received a single word of apology. Needless to say, we won’t be visiting the Red Lion in Grantchester ever again."

"The food is amazing that I was in Turkey before and I tell you her food is still the best I ever had! The meeting is well marinated and the meat is so tender and juicy. The sauce is amazing! "I ordered takeaway here for the 1st time was “stupidly” unaware of what the various sauces were called. The man serving was not helpful arrogantly questioned what language I was speaking as I didn’t know the correct sauce names (I am English btw! . I said my partner was French but I was clearly English and speaking it so didn’t understand why he asked that! As we waited for the food outside, he thought I was out of earshot and shouted “learn to speak English”. I went back to challenge him on this disgusting comment and he seemed surprised I had heard and then tried to blag he was making a joke! He was NOT! Just because I’m not upto speed on the official names of his precious sauces, it does not make it acceptable to be so rudely insulted or at least make sure they definitely can’t hear you! Safe to say we won’t be going back. Oh and the food was ****!"

"Love this pub! Mum used to come here years ago when the old Marquee Club used to be on Wardour Street, as well as the Intrepid Fox. This pub is steeped in history and a proper old haunt for rockers and musicians back in the day. Still has its character now and the bar staff are so friendly I told one of them that my Mum used to come here years ago and his response was “welcome home!” Such lovely sentiment. 10 out of 10"

"For someone as picky as me I found that this place is amazing. The quality of food and service is amazing which is really hard to find in restaurants in and around London. I would completely recommend this place, particularly for its chicken and Baklava which seemed to go down wonderfully amongst my siblings. The waiter was fabulous as he made me and my sisters feel extremely welcome as well as the manager. The food came on time and were cooked to a high standard; not to mention that the food came out fast. Portions are a good size; enough to fill you up and enough to leave you with room for dessert. Music and bar created a welcoming ambiance while eating, particularly as managers and waiters were checking on you and making sure that you had everything you needed. Considering that it is hard to find places like these I would say that this is one of the best restaurants that I have been to in a very long time. Completely willing to go back, especially for belly dancing nights on Fridays and Saturdays. Nothing to really complain about other than having a coffee before bed ;P. If you are really into exotic food and a change of culture this is the place to be. (even if you can't read the menu, everyone is willing to help!"

"We are American tourists and decided to eat here because it was on the way back to our apartment and away from the crowds on Princess Street. When we made the reservation there was nothing in the description to indicate it was a wine bar. I mention this because I wanted a vodka martini dirty and the waitress didn’t know what that was. In addition the bar did not have olives. What I received was adequate, hence the 3 stars, but it soon became clear wine was the main feature in the bar menu. As for the food, the place was tiny, seating for maybe 20. The menu was limited but had many Scottish options. The fish and chips were good and portions large. The rump steak was small and tough as shoe leather unfortunately. All in all, the WestRoom is just okay. It’s saving grace is the modern atmosphere and distance from tourists, but there are better options in in Edinburgh."

"Great quality when it comes to food but I personally found the price to be a bit too much especially given the wait. I did come here regularly with my colleagues after work and enjoyed their whiskey and ice cream. I particularly enjoyed the consistent help of a young lad member of staff with glasses called Jake. Incredibly helpful and patient when it came to ordering and such. We encountered some issues when we tried to book afternoon tea through the hotel website, as we were redirected to OpenTable which did not mention that afternoon tea was unavailable for our booking. However, the staff went above and beyond to ensure that we were still able to enjoy our afternoon tea, making our experience very enjoyable. We would definitely return to this restaurant as the food was good, the ambiance was beautiful, the service was personal, and it offered great value for money."

"A really good eating experience with quality food and attentive pleasant staff. There is a choice of A La Carte or Table d’hote menu the latter being a reduced selection from the A La Carte menu but better value). The cost of the food and wine is reasonable. Our only criticism was that the chips weren’t real ie. sourced from frozen. They didn’t taste good. On balance I would recommend this restaurant for a good relaxing eating experience."
