"The food was good! We ordered a variety of starters/mains, all unique in taste. None of the curries were similar but all different in their own ways. Food came out piping hot (important for us Ordered a mocktail which was exceptional! Had a few complimentary items which was thoughtful. Staff were very accommodating. "To my surprise, many restaurants are closed on Sunday evening in London. Every time I looked up a vegan restaurant on Happy Cow, it turned out it was closed. Since it was late and I was hungry, I had no other option than to select a vegetarian restaurant close by. 1947 Restaurant and Bar is both an Indian and Italian restaurant. The entire menu is vegetarian, however only around 20% is vegan. Many more meals can be made vegan, but so many of them had cheese listed as an ingredient that I didn 't want to run the risk. What if there 's an error in communication between the waitress and the kitchen? Or what if the chef accidentally adds cheese out of habit? I had lots of time to make up my mind, because even though the restaurant was very quiet it took a long time until the waitress came to take my order. I selected vegan biryani because I like biryani and because I 've tried it at so many restaurants that it 's easy to compare. It took a long time for the biryani to be prepared, but then it was served beautifully and smelled divine (as it should be). However, compared to other restaurants it 's a rather simple biryani. It has only one kind of rice (it is often served with both white and yellow rice) and only a few vegetables. There was no tofu, mushroom, potato, no nuts or any protein source. Also, the yoghurt was missing (which is used to extinguish the fire caused by the spices). The portion was generous and the taste was good. Although it was mentioned on the menu, 1947 Restaurant and Bar adds a 12.5% service tax. Why don 't restaurants just increase all prices on the menu instead of giving the customers a nasty surprise at the end?"

"Terrible experience. We were in the restaurant section and paid for an ‘experience’ and we got one, a bad one. The whole operation in this place is a shambles but the food is actually authentic Indian cuisine and very good….when it arrives we waited 2 hours). The staff had no idea that we PRE—PAID £92). The restaurant was freezing yet none of the staff were masked, service was poor and unattentive, the restaurant was very bright and had zero ambience. We couldn’t wait to leave."

"So, visited this restaurant with my family for a birthday celebration. Initially when we arrived, there was no one to greet us and took roughly 4-5 mins for someone to eventually approach/greet us. When we ordered, we were not told the starters with individual/apertiser dishes not suitable for sharing. Also being a vegetarian, the vegetarian selection was not the best. The starters were OK but not great either! The paneer tikka was undercooked but alo tikki chat was on point! Before the mains came out, we were informed by the chef the Okra main we chose wasn’t up to the chefs standards and was not happy to make this for us which we appreciated. So they asked us to choose another main and went for an aubergine main. We asked if they could add some potatoes within the dish and we were told that they done have any potatoes on site!! When the mains eventually came out, I can honestly say they pulled it back from being a bad review to a good review. Mains were very good. It feels like the restaurant needs to update their menu to make it more up to date with dietary requirement such as “vegan” and “Gluten Free” which they don’t have (from what I saw). Also there’s a lot of emphasis on meat foods. I truly believe if they update their menu and have more vegetarian/vegan dishes, they would attract a lot more new customers."

"I took my mother to the Two Sisters restaurant for her birthday last Sunday. We were immediately greeted and informed about the brunch options (i.e. buffet versus brunch specials and other adjustments, such as turkey bacon instead of pork). I think this is a great place for a relaxed brunch and definitely for a mother-daughter date. We loved the food and the service. We drove to a Groupon and will definitely drive again without the Groupon. Worth it."

I think this is a mother-daughter team and that we had for my mother when I felt it was something special. Cons: tiny tiny walking insect in the side-salad of the dish I am not sure is it because of the semi-outdoor lunch area or from the kitchen? . Lamb ribs was not fresh and it was probably cooked in the day before and then warmed up, it was old and chewy. Instead of one dal for each person as written in the menu, we had a dal to share for each two person, and when we asked for extra top-up, the answer was no! Ignorant service: although they were not busy at all, they ignored us couple of time and we had to call twice for any request. We had to pay the set lunch price for our child, although there is a child price in the menu and we asked for that in the beginning. However, as the portions were really small even the naan was half-normal-size , we do not regret it. All in all, the food and service, we got, was much below the expectation one could get from the reviews."

"Struggled to find a BYOB during the festival that could accommodate our group of 10-but were lucky enough to get a table at Kebabish last night. Very busy restaurant which had a lot of other large groups in too. The menu is pretty hefty with a lot of grill and curry dishes to choose from. I had the Prawn puri and then chicken tawa. The puri was very nice, tasty sweet sauce. The tawa was good, my chicken was tender but there were far too many peppers to the amount of chicken which made me feel a bit cheated. Portion sizes are huge-the mixed grill left some of the group unable to finish. Butter chicken had a uce sauce but quite dry chicken. Service could have been quicker, 2 hours between starter and main isn't great. Would eat from there again, but probably not to sit in."

"I think some of the reviews from this page are completed by people that the restaurant know or either by the restaurant themselves as the food wasn't up to the best of standards as expressed by people reviewing this restaurant. Furthermore, the portions were extremely small and pricey for what you get and some services were not available as they advertised cocktails and mocktails but didn't have any to serve. In addition to this, the atmosphere for a Saturday night was horrendous as the restaurant was completely empty and even with the restaurant being empty some of the food was still cold. I went to this restaurant entirely because the reviews I read were good but I wouldn't recommend it. I haven't nothing against this restaurant but I was just extremely disappointed for what I paid."
