"Christmas Prefix Dinner is Terrible. We just left after having one of the worst meals I’ve ever had especially for the price. First off all, the portions are far too large for two people. Most prefix menus I’ve had at classy restaurants have multiple courses that are much smaller so you can enjoy a wide variety of carefully crafted dishes. To start, the beef tartar had clearly been sitting out because it was dry and stringy. The prawns were in a seaweed soup that made the whole table smell like the sea and tasted overly salty. Then the turkey was roasted to a crisp. So dry and flavorless. The stuffing and sausage tasted cheap and fatty. We also had the portobello and sweet potatoe Wellington. It wasn’t as bad but also nothing special. It all came with an overwhelming amount of carrots, Brussels sprouts (hard and undercooked) and other random veggies. My wife and I are two normal sized individuals so I don’t understand how the average person puts down this much food. Next there was a cheese board that we just skipped entirely to try and save room for the desert. They brought me the wrong desert (ordered the pudding, got the cheese cake) and so we just nibbled on the chocolate torte. Hard to mess that one up and it was decent. Skipped our pudding that was originally ordered because it was taking for ever. The only things we liked were the things we ordered on the side (a nice run mmm rhubarb cocktail and some fresh juice). Overall, I’d say it was a waste of 200 pounds and damped out Christmas Day experience. I wish they would’ve offered to discount the meal as they saw we didn’t enjoy multiple dishes and downright skipped others. Go to a local pub instead on Christmas Day or just skip the prefix menus all together."

"Overall, a very disappointing visit to a restaurant that has in the past been very good. £18.95 each for a set lunch menu to share (nine items between two of us) is a bit over priced for the standard of the food served. Four items came as the first course and in the main they were quite good. The remaining dishes, however, were stodgy and not up to the standard you would normally expect from this venue. It 's doubtful we will visit again, bearing in mind the cost at just over £60.00 for two of us including wine and coffee, it 's just not worthwhile."

"I visited this restaurant/sandwich bar for a light lunch. It looked fairly busy, but lots of the customers were having takeaways and there were tables available. There are menus on the table but you have to place your order at the counter. There were five staff behind the counter and it was all very efficient. I was particularly struck by how friendly all the staff were, making a point to speak with everyone. I ordered a tuna melt ciabatta £4.75) and a can of Sanpellegrino £1) which I thought was very reasonable. Whilst waiting for my food, I noticed most people were having a create your own salad/pasta. They chose the salad leaves or pasta they wanted from the cabinet, then the counter staff make it for them by adding their choice of 4 salad items, then their meat or cheese and finally the dresssing. It all gets mixed up by the staff and then reboxed. They looked really nice and generous portion sizes too. There were also options for jacket potatoes, kebabs, toasted sandwiches and wraps. My food was tasty. When I left the counter staff made a point of saying goodbye to me, as they had done with every eat-in customer who left before me. I was very impressed and would definitely visit again."

"Booked table for Sunday lunch and was expecting usual high standard of food and service. Unfortunately this wasn't the case at all. They were only doing a bar menu which was fine as it did have a roast option but the roast alone was £16.95 per head. The meat was ok but the roasties were deep fried, the amount of mash was so small we eventually found it hiding under the yorkshire, all the veg appeared to be frozen. When you're being charged that much you expect more than frozen peas, carrots and broccoli. We had to send the califlower cheese back as it had no sauce or cheese on it! The waiter we had was very dirty. His clothes were unkept and extremely dirty and for the whole time we were there his mask was under his chin which is unacceptable. The owner didn't seem to care of his attire or for not wearing his mask whilst serving her customers and he was serving multiple tables. In the present climate with COVID this was not acceptable. The other waitress cleared some of our plates and veg away and 2 family members were still eating! Very poor quality for overpriced food. When I went to pay the bill, they had charged me for another table's drinks!! All in all not a good experience unfortunately and not sure why their standards have dropped so much. If I didn't know who the owner was I would have thought it had changed hands. They have clearly priced themselves out the market as it was very expensive for the quality of food and clearly explains why it was so quiet which is a shame as it used to be so good. Will not go back unless they bring the standards back up. COVID can't be blamed for bad service and lack of management."
