"I had a wonderfully 21st century dining experience in this restaurant this evening; from being asked on arrival if I wanted to see the Vegan menu to being seated and asked if I had any allergies or special dietary requirements... I was told that my waitress would be either Beth or Sarah ? I never did find out which it was but that didn 't affect the quality of the food or service! then I was given a sensible amount of time to choose my food before an efficient and attentive if unknown waitress took my order. I ordered a bottle of Peroni Gran Riserva which was extremely tasty and started with crab arancini a new menu item which was delicate and flavoursome, especially with the addition of a squeeze of lemon, and then had a Diavolo pizza topped with spicy beef, pepperoni, green pepper, Tobasco sauce and a choice of hot pepper I had roquito with a side of broccolini tenderstem broccoli roasted with garlic and chilli which was perfectly cooked with a nice al dente crunch. I mused to myself that the broccolini should have been called scorpion stems as it 's certainly had a sting in the tale from the chillies ! and the pizza also knocked me backwards with its warmth, but I got used to it and it was very yummy. I had been expecting sweet roquito pearls but the more firey roquito peppers were a new experience for me. The entire meal was delicious I cleared every plate and it was easy to summon service so that I could get my bill and promptly pay and leave. The staff and especially the chef who took his time to come and explain to me that there was a difference between roquito peppers and roquito pearls, and that they used pearls on the salads. Personally, I think next time if I order another diavolo pizza, I will ask them to hold the Tabasco and swap the peppers for pearls but I can 't fault them for something I didn 't ask for! Bravo!"

"Yesterday evening, as a treat for my husband and daughter who are recovering from Covid, I ordered online a meal from Pizza Express, Hastings. The meal, that comprised starters, mains, sides and dessert, cost £92.78. I received email confirmation of my order and a text message from Uber Direct as to when delivery to our home would be expected. At the expected time, I waited at my front door to collect the delivery. Then the text notification indicated a later time for delivery so I returned to my front door at that time. The driver did not arrive. Then I received a text from Uber indicating that the order had been cancelled, no reason given for this so called cancellation! Certainly, we had not cancelled our order. My husband drove down to Pizza Express, Hastings and spoke to the manager. The chef remembered the order as it was large, he said. The manager mentioned that she also had received from Uber the cancellation text message. She refused to refund our account for an order that we had not received. As it stands this morning our bank account has still not been credited with the cost of the order we did not receive and it looks like the Uber driver must have taken our order home for her own consumption, which would amount to theft! Of course, we are pursuing this with Pizza Express and their delivery agent, Uber, however, it is clear to us that after such a thoroughly disappointing experience we will never again visit Pizza Express for a meal nor order from them online; we have been customers of Pizza Express for decades and it was a favourite go to especially when we needed this, as when recovering from Covid! Our advice to readers of this review, do not trust the online order facility of Pizza Express especially as its Uber agents are disreputable."

"I love Pizza Express! I only first learned that it existed from the beloved Orange Wednesdays. The pizzas are the best I have ever tasted, the salads are the best I have ever tasted, and the dough balls are yum yum. I do look forward to my weekly visit to Pizza Express, and a good helping of their secret recipe dough. I would have to say that there are other Pizza Expresses that my experiences with this particular Pizza Express on Sauchiehall St are mixed. On my first visit I had a very friendly waitor that went out of his way to make my friends laugh and I feel comfortable. Don't you always love when you get smiles (real ones), and generally a good zest for life from staff you encounter in a restaurant? I do. He was worth a good tip which he got, but my second visit here was with the good old Mr. grumpy himself, launching our food at us across the table, muttering words before dashing off and being quite snappy. This man I think may have been having a bad day but, he certainly put me off going back to this Pizza Express...not every one, but definately this one. I recommend going to try the new range of pizzas at Pizza Expressby renowned chef, Francesco Mazzei! So terribly delicious! Thin base is my preference, and if you get a chance and like mushrooms try the Mia Sofia! My favourite by a long shot. No meat but it is not missed. When I say go to Pizza Express, try go to a friendly one because the last time I looked in the window of passing Sauchiehall st, Mr.Grumpy was still working there. Shame."

"A late lunch meal with my parents on a quiet sunday afternoon. To start I had the ‘Chilli king prawns’, which also came with 4 dough balls (see second picture). The prawn mixture also contained roasted tomatoes, peppers, garlic, and red onion. The dish was very tasty, not a whole lot of prawns but the ones that were there were cooked perfectly, and the mixture that was with them was with a good amount of garlic (which I loveee), however I would have liked more chilli. Dough balls were hot out of the oven and very fluffy and lovely to dip into the juices at the end. For main, I went for the ‘Dup Romana’ where I could choose half and half of the romana style pizzas, of which I went for the ‘La Cabana’ which is a new type of pizza, and ‘Pollo ad astra’. The pollo one is a classic Mills favourite, you can’t go wrong with the sweet yet spicy chicken, onion and pepper combo, as well as some garlic oil drizzled over lightly. The new cabana style one however was SO tasty. The flavours of the pulled pork, tomato and red onion salsa, coriander and lime fit perfectly and made it feel like I was eating a taco on a pizza. Really pleased I went for this combo, as they both had differing flavours but also were both packed full of flavour and really tasty. Would definitely have this as a regular of mine. No dessert as apparently we have some at home. Really good service, as it was very quiet in there, and price not too bad. Overall review: Date visited- 10th September 2023 Food- 9.5/10 Service- 8.5/10 Price- Recommend to a friend- Yes"

"Had an absolutely terrible experience here yet again. I felt compelled to share this with other potential customers. As a single father my son saved up and wanted to take me here. From my past experience here I was a bit apprehensive but he insisted. We entered the place a bit earlier than our booking but place was empty and we were seated. That’s about it. We were ignored for about 15 mins, I literally had to hunt down someone that might be interested in taking our order, when they eventually did, we were asked again after 5 mins what our drinks order was again. Our server then appeared to finish their shift and explained to colleague taking over about our table. We were then ignored again for a further 20 mins when the server had served around 6 other tables. She then approached us and asked what our order was again as the previous server had to rush off. When approaching the manager I got a further shambolic response as with their so called customer service team. I’m the end after nearly an hour at this joke shop, we left hungry, angry and humiliated. My son was very hungry and extremely upset. Thank you Pizza Express Harborne. I would expect much better from a place charging extortionate prices for terrible service and sub standard pizza that is not even real authentic Italian wood fired. Definitely one to avoid for ever I think. At least Dominos doesn’t pretend to be real Italian. Many more exciting and better dining places in Harborne and Birmingham in general, where the staff know their roles and carry them out very well and happy for your business. I had an equally terrible experience here about 3 years ago and it’s got even worse. We went to one of their competitors and got much more professional service and exceptional pizza. Thank u Rudys for salvaging our evening"
