"Took a chance a chance of not booking and it paid off. We arrived after 8 and got seated immediately. It was busy but the charm and atmosphere weren’t lost. Food was served quickly and tasted delicious. The restaurant has a traditional family atmosphere and we were made to feel welcome. It’s worth making sure you have room for the tiramisu or sticky toffee pudding, both home made and amazing…. I’d go as far as saying the sticky toffee pudding was better than any other rival I have tasted, it was very light and tasted great"

"I recently went out for Steak night at this restaurant and it was delicious. The staff was great, the atmosphere was very relaxed, and everything was clean and tidy. The food was hot, generous in portion, well presented, and tasty. I have also been here for breakfast before, which was also very good. I was lucky enough to sit outside last time and the table service was excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a treat, but be aware that winter hours and seasonal closures are approaching. Parking is convenient with spots right outside and a large free carpark across the road with light traffic. Overall, I would give a rating of 5 for the food, service, and atmosphere. Recommended dishes include the Fish Chips, Steak, and English Breakfast. Plenty of parking options available with free parking lot and street parking. Price per person ranges from £30–40 for a dine-in dinner experience."

As soon as we arrived, we were warmly greeted and given information about our brunch options, including the buffet or special brunch dishes, as well as the option for turkey bacon instead of pork. I believe this restaurant is the perfect spot for a leisurely brunch, especially for a mother-daughter outing. We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious food and excellent service. We initially used a Groupon for our visit, but we were so impressed that we would gladly return even without a discount. It was definitely worth it."

"We are regulars and decided to try their Sunday sharing roast. The good: the chicken was great. Succulent and tasty. The dauphinois side with bacon and cheese was also very nice. The bad: the steak was chewy and cold, as were the sauces. The pork belly portion was mean, the veggie side was tiny. Not even enough for one person. The odd: we had to ask for plates as if we were expected to both eat directly off the small serving wood block. We got side plates which were too small. In summary, not something we will be having again. It felt a bit expensive for what we got. If everything was hot and the portions a little larger, it would have been fine."

"We visited for the Sunday carvery. It was really good, probably one of the best roasts we've had outside of the house. Food was hot, there was plenty of it and service was good even though it was extremely busy. Only thing that was a negative for us, was we were only allowed our table for an hour and a half. I think if you book a table you shouldn't be pressured to leave after an hour and a half and that wasn't explained when I phoned to book. It was a shame as we would of liked to stay for more drinks/coffee etc."

"for the first time I visited cargo this fish restaurant when I walked one day at the pierkopf. my friend and I decided to try it for lunch. when entering the staff was very welcoming. the atmosphere is relaxed and the location of the restaurant is directly at the river with good views. concerning eating and service, I can only say that it was excellent. we both decided to try their muddles. cooked for perfection and a good portion served with delicious brot and delicious chips. the manager was really friendly and chatting. the pricing is good that it will not break the bank. there is a good selection of fresh fish dishes and they explain whether there is fish of the day on the menu. I would highly recommend to come to cargo when they enjoy fish. there are steak on the menu aswell and also vegetarian options. worth a visit. I'm back."

"I want to be fair here, as service was lovely and we were not charged for the two mains that we had, but it doesn’t change the fact that it was disappointing. Duck leg was dry and pork belly was also overcooked and a bit slimy. Have to say that I loved the cooked apple that came with pork, but that’s not supposed to be the main star of the dish. Based on the texture of the meat, my suspicion is that the meals were reheated. Saying that, my liver parfait starter was delicious. Perhaps I’ll try this place again for a light lunch."

"My husband and I have never been here before, even though we live locally, but I can assure you it'll be a new regular favourite. The food was stunning, the service was exceptional and the small details made all the difference. We booked online last minute for our anniversary, we made a note of this on booking and when we arrived our table was decorated with balloons and we were offered complimentary desserts. Unfortunately we did decline as we were so full and the food so delicious we didn't want to ruin the flavour but the thought and touch was so lovely we will be sure to keep coming back. "Been wanting to try the artichoke for lunch for ages, went today.....perhaps not the best of days....apparently a member of staff was a no show which meant the one lady behind the bar was a running all over the place and we waited for 45 minutes for a baguette and chips. The baguette was actually a soft sub roll, which was OK but not a baguette. Half of the fish fingers were mostly batter. Chips were good, so were the onion rings. A heads up to the wait for food would have been good. On the whole...OK....Will try again I think, but not yet."

"Booked a table for 4 people for 2pm. Still not served coffee or lunch by 3:30pm. The poor waitress was sent out twice to apologise told us it would be instant coffee. We observed that many people were leaving their food they told us the meat was chewy. After being told the food would be at least another 20mins we got up left. I would have marked the food had we received any. Only then did the barmaid apologise saying she was sorry. At which point so were we for booking there."
