"On our last evening in Glasgow, we stumbled upon this pub, after a visit to the Necropolis. The place was full of locals, so we knew we made the right decision. The staff was so nice and friendly(especially Courtney! . We had a few drinks and watched some sports on TV. The pub had a great vibe! Would definitely recommend!"

"Afternoon Tea for 2 at 12:15pm We made a booking, paid a deposit and it was confirmed again the day before with an email. When we arrived the manager said he knew nothing about our booking, so nothing had been prepared. He apologised, and kept apologising. We were very disappointed as this was our first catch up in 8 years! The manager then went into the kitchen. When he came back he said could we wait for an hour while they prepare. He said there was a party of 50 people to cook for too. It was too late to go anywhere else. He placed us in a quieter area, offered us tea/coffee. We chose 1 tea and 1 black Americano. They came with 2 teas! Took one away and eventually arrived again with a coffee. The tea was not nice so it didn’t get drank. We ended up having to move to a different table as the smell from the accessible toilet absolutely stank when the door was opened. Eventually our food arrived. It was awful! The cheese sandwich bread was hard, the bacon sandwich was not that enjoyable, the chicken one was also not nice, the sweet potato one was horrible, soggy and looked awful. The scones were dry, clotted cream looked like it had seen better days. The small dessert ‘thing’ in a shot glass was disgusting, the cream ontop had already slid off onto the plate. The only nice thing was the very small chocolate brownie. We complained, the staff on the tills were actually very lovely and tried to help us over and over. Not their fault. They tried to reduce to bill, but not with much success. Only taking off £2 each! Then we reminded them that we’d paid a £10 deposit on booking, then they checked and said oh yes! (So there was a booking in our name after all! we were so fed up by then we just paid under protest and left. all in all it was an absolute farce. We both put all this info on their online feedback form, which promises to reply within 72 hrs. We have not heard anything back and it’s been 10 days now! We certainly would never recommend this place, especially Afternoon Tea. Appalling!"

"My friend and I often visit the Old Halfway House as it’s local to us both. Until relatively recently, we have been for the lunchtime menu, and it’s been fairly good. The pub has a nice atmosphere, and it’s clean and tidy. However, the menu has now changed; the lunchtime menu has increased from £6 to £8. Soft drinks have also increased, and a glass of coke is now £4.25, which is simply too much. This last visit, I ordered scampi chips and peas. I could hardly believe my eyes when the server brought my meal. There were 9 small pieces of scampi, a few chips and what I estimated to be 1 spoon of peas. I was really upset about this. The tartar sauce was also underwhelming a tiny bit in the bottom of the dish. The plate actually looked like a child’s meal. Ok, so we all know prices are increasing across all sectors, but whilst pubs need to make a profit, customers also need value for money, and this falls woefully short of what one would expect. Would a few extra peas and chips, and maybe a couple more pieces of scampi really cost that much more for better customer satisfaction? I’ll answer that myself no. When the lady came to collect our plates, we were asked if everything was ok. I mentioned the measly portion size, and she said she’d mention it to the kitchen. We remained in the pub a good 20 minutes, but she never returned, so I don’t know what the kitchen had said. We were going to order dessert, but after seeing that portion size, decided we wouldn’t bother. As mentioned before, we eat out locally once a week, so we have plenty of places with which to compare this to, and it falls way short of the competition. It is sad, but we will be finding somewhere with better value for money in future."

"OMG!! Where do I start!! From the moment we walked in we were greeted by the beautiful Paige who was an absolute dream soo friendly and the service from her was 5star We both ordered the beer battered fish and chips and we both agreed was the best we have ever tasted Beautifully presented and the taste was sensational Then of course we couldn’t resist a pud so we opted for the honey pot Can I just say this was Michelin star The presentation was unreal and we were both in heaven from the very first bite!! I asked Paige if I could speak to the manager as we were both in awe of everything Paul the assistant manager came over what a lovely guy a credit to this establishment We will be back by far the best meal we have ever had Thank you to Lee (head chef) for producing amazing food and of course the beautiful Paige and lovely Paul for the service This is a really special place and we will be back Big pat on the back to the wonderful staff You are amazing!! "This place was so wholesome and warm immediately on arrival. Me and my friend both ans lunch, she had a gluten free bagel, I had a chicken wrap. Mine was so tasty and succulent, she expressed hers to be flavoursome and moreish. Food was delivered hot and promptly to our tables. Whilst overall the staff were all great, everyone made us feel welcome and pretty much everyone engaged in a conversation at some point. Haddy was particularly friendly and helpful, and nothing felt to much from him. All in all great service, great atmosphere and great food. Would definitely recommend for wholesome quick bite to eat ."

"I came with 2 friends and we were looking forward to a last lunch together before Christmas, But the food was very poor, I had Hunters chicken which should have come with bbq sauce but there was virtually none and the chicken was so dry and tasteless without the sauce and it was the first time I had ever had cold peas! The waitress asked if everything was ok and I said it was disappointing that it wasn’t as described, she just said she would pass that onto the chef! The manager came over after a few minutes and said he hoped we would return and the next time we came it would be better, well I’m sorry there probably won’t be a next time at least not for a meal, I don’t expect gourmet food but something edible and enjoyable would have been nice"

"Stay well away!. I went to El Toro in a group of people. After a minute wait, our food started to come out. Which would normally be fine, if everyones food came out at the same time, instead of over a period of an hour and a half. I approached a member of staff to ask why our food had taken so long. My question was met with a very aggressive Cant you see how busy we are?! What do you want from me (The place was less than half full) After everyone had finished their food I once again attempted to talk to a member of staff about our very long wait. This time I got the manager, who greeted me with: This table is a waste of my time. None of you have ordered Steak I've never been spoken to like that before in my life by a restaurant owner. Average food. Atrocious service. Stay well away."

"I visited this pub on Saturday night and found the bar staff to be very friendly and polite. However, there was one member of staff who was collecting glasses on the floor. She approached our table, leaned over me, clicked her fingers, and demanded my empty glass. I was taken aback by how rude this young lady was. I am a regular at this pub and have never had this type of experience before. It seemed like she was being shadowed by another lady, as they were together all night. If this staff member was supposed to be in training, it was very unprofessional for her to act this way in front of her supervisor and the group I was with."

"We were invited to have dinner at this restaurant to celebrate a friend. As Brazilians, we love Portuguese cuisine. The dishes we chose were top-notch in both taste and presentation, receiving a 5/5 rating from us. The food was delicious, and we enjoyed a refreshing white sangria. The manager was a fantastic host, the serving team provided excellent service, and overall, our experience was well worth the money spent. "Nothing special or spectacular. Service was decent staff were friendly and attentive enough. Food was average but have had better. Chicken wings were small. Breads could do with tapenade or balsamic for dipping in rather than butter (which was in the little packs; wasn’t even presented nicely). Steak was fatty. Burger was nice but dry/overdone. The actual restaurant itself is quite cool, with the bar in the middle and gives a very modern feel. What ruined it was the choice of seats we were given at the kitchen door with staff running in and out or the front door with customers loitering around waiting to be seated I understand restaurants want to squeeze people in to make more money but I’m not sure either of those spots are the place to have a table."

"I turned up on a Wednesday, carvery night, more in hope than expectation. Mikaylah and Shaun found me a spot in the bar on what was clearly a very busy night. Service was great and attentive. I ordered a soft drink and a carvery and was able to go up for my food in no time at all. The spread of meat available is always good, but as a creature of habit, I chose beef. The roasties, Yorkshire pudding, and vegetables were cooked to perfection for me. Big thanks to Fabio and Ruby for the service. Overall experience was very good. I attend quite often and have never been disappointed with the food or the service. Given this was a very busy night, I cannot fault my experience. One final shout out to the kitchen team, Shona, Gary, and Bradley. I have never been disappointed with the food, and the beef is always cooked to perfection for me. Will definitely be back. Given the popularity of the carvery, I would advise booking! 5/5"

"I visited Allium to pick up two pizzas to go, and the entire experience was a disaster from beginning to end. Although the restaurant was empty, I had to wait about 30 minutes only to be informed that they had no pizza boxes for takeout. Instead, I was offered the option to carry the pizzas on plates down the street. So, we opted to dine in. Honestly, I think frozen pizzas from Iceland would have been a better choice; they were awful. The crust was as hard as cardboard—probably frozen beforehand—with just some extra cheese thrown on top. This definitely doesn't reflect the quality of a top chef!"

"The place was nice and we was seated at our table, we had to ask for a Drinks Menu. We ordered our meals, starters and mains, the starters were nice apart from the scotch egg which had no runny egg( but was told beforehand that this was down to the bird flu) we ordered the OX cheek, 2 Wagu burgers and a fillet steak.. the ox cheek was very nice.. however the 2 wagu burgers, we wasn't even asked how we would like these before ordering and to come out and they were both burnt!.. The fillet steak was ok, but the meat had been cut in half to see if they had cooked it correct..the only reason we didn't complain is that we were receiving the food at 50%... the service wasnt the best.. TBH I dont normally write reveiws but Felt I had to on this occasion"

I really appreciated the ordering system for customizing my burger - I could choose all 5 toppings to make sure it was exactly what I wanted. "Absoutley thrilling experience at the station bar I didn't eat the food as I indulge in the belief eating is cheating, Me and my group of friends used it as our meeting point of choice on a mission to get out of our breasts as quickly as possible before hitting the town doing lines and shagging 9's. It was that great an experience one of the members of the group even breached his tag to stay out longer! Would highly reccomend coming to this establishment with its hand drier in the mens room which hangs of the wall and flops from side to side to make drying your hands that much more of a challenge.. everyone loves a challgange don't they) or the strawberry daquiris you need a spoon "

"We ended up here by accident. We were looking for a fish restaurant we'd found on Google. Saw a solitary parking spot with this quant looking pub opposite. I went in to ask if they served food. Response, yes Sir we certainly do, please sit anywhere and someone will come to your table. We have lived in France for 22 years and they just do not do Fish and chips justice. We both opted for it. I had a smoked chicken terrine with caramelized onion chutney which was superb. The cod was perfect, large, boneless tasty with crispy batter. The chips were hot and plentiful. My wife enjoyed a luscious cherry cheesecake. The service was efficient, prompt and friendly, all food delivered with a genuine smile and enquiry into our satisfaction. The lovely young lady who took our payment was charming and genuinely interested in our opinion. All in all a fabulous end to our visit to the UK. Well done all of you."

"the presentation of eating is good. However, all three sirloin steaks we ordered were boiled over. the service was minimal with only one staff that took service and order. when pouring a bottle of red wine on our weinglas it was as fast as it filled with water and without showing us the bottle and trying it out. inside damentoilette just came out of the kubikal found a male personal cleaning and it scared me. this type of service at hilton was not expected."
