"We visited this restaurant for the first time today and had a wonderful experience. The lady who welcomed us was extremely friendly (I wish I had remembered her name). We have a couple of allergies, and she was very helpful in accommodating them. My husband and children enjoyed the carvery, while my mother and I opted for curry with naan and rice. The carvery was very good, with the server being clear and thorough in addressing our allergies and very friendly with my daughter. The curries were amazing. I had the butter milk chicken, which I believe was one of the best curries I have had in a long time. The naan was fresh and clearly homemade. We will definitely be returning to try more of their curries. Thank you so much for a great experience!"

"We waited for our food for over an hour with very little updates. Finally, they offered us a complimentary drink. The music was too low, so the ambience was lacking. The temperature in the conservatory was too hot, then too cold. Despite these issues, we enjoyed the company and had a great time once the food arrived. It's best not to arrive too hungry and be prepared to wait. They accommodated special dietary requirements, but the options were not well-informed or very creative. The traditional and cheese lover afternoon tea had a very good selection and quality. It's recommended to book in advance if you want to use vouchers and get an excellent deal."

"We reserved a table for a festive meal and were pleased to find that our table was beautifully decorated with a tablecloth, crackers, and Santa hats upon arrival. The festive menu offered great value, and the food was excellent. We all enjoyed the turkey dinner, which featured a generous slice of meat along with all the traditional trimmings. "On our last evening in Glasgow, we stumbled upon this pub, after a visit to the Necropolis. The place was full of locals, so we knew we made the right decision. "Afternoon Tea for 2 at 12:15pm We made a booking, paid a deposit and it was confirmed again the day before with an email. When we arrived the manager said he knew nothing about our booking, so nothing had been prepared. He apologised, and kept apologising. We were very disappointed as this was our first catch up in 8 years! The manager then went into the kitchen. When he came back he said could we wait for an hour while they prepare. He said there was a party of 50 people to cook for too. It was too late to go anywhere else. He placed us in a quieter area, offered us tea/coffee. We chose 1 tea and 1 black Americano. They came with 2 teas! Took one away and eventually arrived again with a coffee. The tea was not nice so it didn’t get drank. We ended up having to move to a different table as the smell from the accessible toilet absolutely stank when the door was opened. Eventually our food arrived. It was awful! The cheese sandwich bread was hard, the bacon sandwich was not that enjoyable, the chicken one was also not nice, the sweet potato one was horrible, soggy and looked awful. The scones were dry, clotted cream looked like it had seen better days. The small dessert ‘thing’ in a shot glass was disgusting, the cream ontop had already slid off onto the plate. The only nice thing was the very small chocolate brownie. We complained, the staff on the tills were actually very lovely and tried to help us over and over. Not their fault. They tried to reduce to bill, but not with much success. Only taking off £2 each! Then we reminded them that we’d paid a £10 deposit on booking, then they checked and said oh yes! (So there was a booking in our name after all! we were so fed up by then we just paid under protest and left. all in all it was an absolute farce. We both put all this info on their online feedback form, which promises to reply within 72 hrs. We have not heard anything back and it’s been 10 days now! We certainly would never recommend this place, especially Afternoon Tea. Appalling!"

"My friend and I often visit the Old Halfway House as it’s local to us both. Until relatively recently, we have been for the lunchtime menu, and it’s been fairly good. The pub has a nice atmosphere, and it’s clean and tidy. However, the menu has now changed; the lunchtime menu has increased from £6 to £8. Soft drinks have also increased, and a glass of coke is now £4.25, which is simply too much. This last visit, I ordered scampi chips and peas. I could hardly believe my eyes when the server brought my meal. There were 9 small pieces of scampi, a few chips and what I estimated to be 1 spoon of peas. I was really upset about this. The tartar sauce was also underwhelming a tiny bit in the bottom of the dish. The plate actually looked like a child’s meal. Ok, so we all know prices are increasing across all sectors, but whilst pubs need to make a profit, customers also need value for money, and this falls woefully short of what one would expect. Would a few extra peas and chips, and maybe a couple more pieces of scampi really cost that much more for better customer satisfaction? I’ll answer that myself no. When the lady came to collect our plates, we were asked if everything was ok. I mentioned the measly portion size, and she said she’d mention it to the kitchen. We remained in the pub a good 20 minutes, but she never returned, so I don’t know what the kitchen had said. We were going to order dessert, but after seeing that portion size, decided we wouldn’t bother. As mentioned before, we eat out locally once a week, so we have plenty of places with which to compare this to, and it falls way short of the competition. It is sad, but we will be finding somewhere with better value for money in future."

"OMG!! Where do I start!! From the moment we walked in we were greeted by the beautiful Paige who was an absolute dream soo friendly and the service from her was 5star We both ordered the beer battered fish and chips and we both agreed was the best we have ever tasted Beautifully presented and the taste was sensational Then of course we couldn’t resist a pud so we opted for the honey pot Can I just say this was Michelin star The presentation was unreal and we were both in heaven from the very first bite!! "Had a sunday lunch recently with the family at this ph and it was very nice.We booked a table and ordered drinks at the bar when we arrived cruzcampo on draught always a plus.We looked at the lunch menu and ordered four adult and one child sunday lunch at the bar.The food came after about 20 mins and looked lovely.The sunday lunch consisted of roast and mashed potatoes,mashed turnip,stuffing,meat and roasted parsnips.The veg which came in seperate bowls were broccoli,carrots and cabbage with two jugs of gravy.Friendly service,nice food and cold cruzcampo made for an enjoyable lunch.There is plenty of car parking available and there is a bar as well as a restaurant/lounge area with sky sports on the tv.We shall return."

"This place was so wholesome and warm immediately on arrival. Me and my friend both ans lunch, she had a gluten free bagel, I had a chicken wrap. Mine was so tasty and succulent, she expressed hers to be flavoursome and moreish. Food was delivered hot and promptly to our tables. Whilst overall the staff were all great, everyone made us feel welcome and pretty much everyone engaged in a conversation at some point. Haddy was particularly friendly and helpful, and nothing felt to much from him. All in all great service, great atmosphere and great food. Would definitely recommend for wholesome quick bite to eat ."

"Stay well away!. I went to El Toro in a group of people. After a minute wait, our food started to come out. Which would normally be fine, if everyones food came out at the same time, instead of over a period of an hour and a half. I approached a member of staff to ask why our food had taken so long. My question was met with a very aggressive Cant you see how busy we are?! What do you want from me (The place was less than half full) After everyone had finished their food I once again attempted to talk to a member of staff about our very long wait. This time I got the manager, who greeted me with: This table is a waste of my time. None of you have ordered Steak I've never been spoken to like that before in my life by a restaurant owner. Average food. Atrocious service. Stay well away."

"I came with 2 friends and we were looking forward to a last lunch together before Christmas, But the food was very poor, I had Hunters chicken which should have come with bbq sauce but there was virtually none and the chicken was so dry and tasteless without the sauce and it was the first time I had ever had cold peas! The waitress asked if everything was ok and I said it was disappointing that it wasn’t as described, she just said she would pass that onto the chef! "I visited this pub on Saturday night and found the bar staff to be very friendly and polite. However, there was one member of staff who was collecting glasses on the floor. She approached our table, leaned over me, clicked her fingers, and demanded my empty glass. I was taken aback by how rude this young lady was. I am a regular at this pub and have never had this type of experience before. It seemed like she was being shadowed by another lady, as they were together all night. If this staff member was supposed to be in training, it was very unprofessional for her to act this way in front of her supervisor and the group I was with."
