"than a review this is a feedback to the management regarding their policy for takeaways. Last Saturday I visited the pub to order a Burger for a takeaway. The first thing that I was told by the gentleman at the bar counter was that...they are very busy and it will take minutes for any takeaway. I said that I am ok with that and I can come back and collect it. To this , I was told that I will have to be allocated a table. I said that's ok. You can allocate a table but I will collect the food from the counter. The gentleman said that's not possible. I was not able to understand what the issue was. So I told him again that you can allot a table but I do not want to wait around for minutes, so i can come back and collect it from the counter. There was another gentleman who was listening in and told his colleague to allocate the table in front of the bar but he also said the same thing, that I can only pick up the food at the table and if I don't come back on time ,they don't want the food to lie there and get cold. I once again told him that I am going to be around the area and that I live just minutes away from the pub and finally they agreed. But in the end the burger that I wanted was not available so I ended up not buying anything from there. I would really like to understand the rationale behind this policy of having to be alloted a table for a takeaway. Wouldn't the management rather allocate that table to some one else who may order in and have a few drinks than to someone who is not going to order anything else other than wait for his takeaway. The pub is really nice but the service levels can definitely improve."

A passing visit gave me a friendly welcome from ace staff, swift service and the lamb shank main was delicious, not fatty, really good. Located by a canal with seating on the waterfront side (hence the name). Well worth a visit. stars from me.

Went for lunch here. Sadly did not “enjoy” service as had to download an app, which didn’t go well and staff appeared off-hand and preoccupied despite the fact they didn’t have to do that much anyway. One man who was clearing tables did smile. My...open sandwich was rather dry. I would not recommend, sadly.

I really enjoyed my visit on Tuesday. the dame behind the bar was directed to know, and also brought me my meal and was attentive to my and my partner needs. the food was delivered quickly, hot and well presented. the facilities were clean, even testify to a member of the toilet control. will soon return to dinner!

Great atmosphere for a meet up with my friends with things returning almost to normal after Covid. Helpful and cheerful staff show willing when serving, and nice to see them smiling whilst they carry out their work. There is an excellent selection of beers and...spirits to choose from and the food is excellent. A great place to spend a relaxing evening.

my partner and I were after a few years (pre covid) I had a bad experience there. happy to say the renovation she had during curldown, surely adds the entire atmosphere (which is good). the workers at the bar they always know when they get into the bar, even if they have to wait. we roasted the Sunday twice in the last weeks, and it is very good with extra yorkshire puds and gravy free. the waitress was very pleasant and attentive. so glad that the water side (in my eyes) is back on the up.

before had great eating and drinking in this pub, many paintings over many years, so today's lunch was disappointing. bland lasagne tasted like heinz babyfood lasagne. very good fresh salad, lots of variety and tasty pots. excellent adherence to my wishes. a special requirement for a gap between the curses, the most important courses came when we finished our starters. So, disappointing eating and service. a large ml) glass Chilean sauvignon blanc was nizza wein, well cooled, not a beautiful price. good kept cask al.

The worst ever lunch a pub has ever served me. The seafood and prawn open sandwich was disgusting. When served to me the watercress was well past it's sell by date it was almost rotten , and the salad was equally well past it's best,...limp and disgusting. The so called lobster tail was a pink mush that could have been fish sticks purred all served on dry white supermarket sliced bread toasted without even a drizzle of oil on it to counteract the dryness of it. A complete rip of at almost The plate was sent back and fresh salad and watercress replaced the rotten salad. Underneath the fresh leaves was hidden equally limp past its best leaves, A utter disgrace. My friend had the chicken baguet...

I and my family are really out of the way into this pub because of the rude fellow workers. we went to a meal for my grandmother birthday and were there for an hour and half before we said we had to. how to make another booking on our table. our tellers were not even cleared at this point and we had not given the possibility of dessert which some of us will have. we were addressed by a very rude young lady, she wears glasses and has mousy brown haare I think I have heard that she is called britt? Anyway, she was very rude to tell us that we were in the pub all afternoon and that we had to get out of the other booking. so we explained to her that we were there only half an hour ago, our telle...

My first visit to this pub and possibly my last. Arrived at midday on Saturday for lunch and the pub was quite busy. Ordered our meals and was advised the wait would be about minutes which was fine and the meals did turn up...within that time frame. I ordered a chicken pie with chips and my dining companion ordered a burger without onions and hummus but with vegan cheese. My pie turned up with mash and my fellow diner's burger had the two items he didn't want on it but no cheese. I asked the waitress for chips and they arrived shortly after. I dipped into my pie and discovered it was a strange orange colour. I was expecting a creamy mushroom and chicken filling not this bright orange middle....
